Running NSV
I've been trying to run for the last 18 months - well since I started on here. Started off right with shoes fitted at the local running store etc and using the C25K but ended up with shins splints and then my health took a nose dive so had to stop to this May. Finally started again with new shoes and tried Zombie 5k which…

Sport Bra Struggles
I know this sound strange but i love the feeling when I struggle to get my sports bra on/off the day after doing upper body workouts? I always think it is a sign that I've been working that extra hard.

Its Saturday
and I came in under goal. For the 15 months I have been on here I don't think i have ever managed that. We also had a treat meal today but worked my calories so it fitted in. I also managed to visit the supermarket that sells gluten free jam tarts and not buy any. Did not even go down that aisle as I know if i buy anything…

Tough Mudder
Has anyone done a tough Mudder - we have on in September and I'm thinking that I might sign up for it. Gives me an incentive to lose weight and start training harder ( well do more than walking). Also would like to know how fit you need to be - I know its a hard challenge but I'm willing to give it a go.

Porridge oats
I'm trying oats again - dedicated brand for coeliacs. Since I was diagnosed I've not really had them as I would get a reaction but i know that most of the time 'normal' ones can be contaminated by wheat etc. I went to a gluten free expo last year and tried an oat based biscuit and got a skin reaction - that I put down to…

Running in the heat - UK
As all you in the UK will know summer has finally arrived and yes I'm loving the sunshine. However this summer is also my first as a runner and I'm refusing to be beaten by the heat. I will be running late evening - around 9pm so should be a bit cooler but was wondering if anyone has any tips. I did my Parkrun on Saturday…

UK: Local free 5K events
Just found out about a charity called Parkruns - they hold 5k training races every Saturday at local parks for free. They have volunteers who marshal the events and take place every week. I've just found one in a park about 3 miles away and over 200 people take part every week. The website - http://www.parkrun.org.uk/ and…

Medical NSV
I have had severe asthma for quite a long time but it has been especially bad the last few years. Some of this was down to undiagnosed food allergies and also smoking. Yes I knew smoking was bad and that I should have stopped. Earlier this year I finally got my appt with the allergy clinic and one of the outcomes was…

Running 2 nights in a row.
Just wondering if the apps says anything about running two nights in a row. I would not normally do it but my schedule got thrown out a bit by a poorly little one at the beginning of the week. I would run tomorrow night but have my first parkrun early sat so want to be fresh for that. I feel ok to run tonight - i'll…

Scales not everything.
Last week I took a break as it was my exams and then we would be visiting family to celebrate two of kids birthdays. i must admit I did not eat well and when i came hope expected the scales to stay the same but I had lost 1/2lb. This morning after watching what I've eaten and been working out I've gained weight - not much…

week 3
Please tell me others struggled with W3. Felt so good after W2 but OMG I could barely run in the last free form. Also please tell me that some of the 'timed ' runs are longer. The last 15 sec of the final minuted seemed somewhat longer than that. Aslo the other day when we ran after Sam it also seemed longer than the set…

WHY?
I thought it would be interesting to see why people have signed up for a Tough Mudder (or done one). I have noticed that most people seem to think I'm crazy to do one (and maybe I am). I signed up a few weeks ago as I wanted something to aim for. I knew that this summer would be the first that I'm not at uni and would have…

Summer NSV
I started in April 2012 and so last year was still wearing my 'normal' summer clothes. However by Christmas I knew they were going to be too big so binned them all. Well summer has finally appeared and can no longer get away with wearing my winter/spring clothes so decided to go and buy some new clothes. I used to be size…

My husband did not understand.....
why I was so happy yesterday. I had a bath and noticed that my thighs/bum no longer create a Dam in the bath.

Too much too soon?
I have been on here for just over a year but have lapsed with the fitness side of thing till I decided to sign up for a Tough Mudder in 20 weeks time. It has been a great incentive as I back out doing a 5k training programme and back in the gym. Also hired a Pt for once a week. I do both cardio and strength training. I've…

Machines at the gym
There seems to be lots of talk on here about doing free weights etc but not much about using the machines - such as leg extenders, pull downes and Hip abductors in the gym. I've have seen some comments that free weights are the only weight to go. I tend to go the maximum weight possible - burns after 10 reps and do 2 sets…

Feeling sorry for myself rant!!
I'm having one of those days - woke up feeling crap and skin sore. My joints are killing me and I've slept half the morning away. As soon as the stomach starting going I knew what had happened - I had eaten something!! With all my allergies and coeliacs I'm so so careful and the only thing I had was two tiny kids sour…

Modified corn starch.
I've eaten something that had set of skin reactions etc so thought that it must be one of allergies rather than my coeliacs but got bone pain today which has made me rethink. I only had three things yesterday that I can think it maybe especially as have also been diagnosed with sunflower allergy very recently so foods that…

Breast questions for the Ladies
i know many of us have experienced a reduction in breast size but in my case they seem to be getting bigger and firmer. I'm doing lots of upper body workouts including kettle bells and weight so muscle tone may account for some of this although breast tissue is mainly fat. It might be down to the fact that I'm losing…

Can you get Fatskinny
We have all heard the term of skinnyfat - someone who is skinny but no muscle tone etc but can you get someone who is over weight but has great muscle tone?

Started yesterday
Did W1D1 yesterday and enjoyed it. I can run a km on the treadmill but outside is different (mainly as I live in Yorkshire and its hilly every way). I started C25K last year but ended up with shin splints so being very careful but managed all the runs and overall did 3.6 km. I love the fact it shows you your route and…

Lost - please dont return.
Finally starting to loose that baby pouch and its such a great feeling especially after four kids.

FitBit and gym.
Just returned back to going to the gym but in the meanwhile I've become a fitbit user. I normally wear a HRM while training which I did today and took the fit bit off . I was wondering if others also wore their fitbit at the same time - that way steps and stairs would be counted but have an more accurate calorie reading…

Crispy Chicken
Found a recipe for sweet and sour crispy chicken that is gluten free. It is made with corn flour/ starch and works really well. Take two chicken fillets and dice them then marinade in 3 tablespoons of water mixed with 3 tsp of flour. Once they are marinaded toss then chicken in more flour and then deep fry. Probably not…

strange behavoir
My almost 3 year old is under the peads with an outlook of getting a diagnosis for Autism ( she has siblings with ASD) but her latest behaviour is quite odd. she has always had a thing for laying on the floor for 10 mins or so and normally its after she has had a busy day. She does not want to go to sleep but just zone out…

feeding families - splitting the calories
I was wondering how others split up the calories when they are cooking for a family. I tend to be feeding myself, hubby, son who has a large child portion and two who have very small potions. I weigh out everything and then tend to divide by a third and then add a bit more on to mine. For example when I'm cooking rice I'll…
