Roller Derby?
I'm thinking out about doing a roller derby bootcamp and seeing where it goes. Any derby girls here? I want to keep doing SL 5x5 too. I'm a little concerned about injury but it just looks like so much fun.

Low Iron
MFP always says I'm very low on my iron but I haven't paid much attention bc I have a pretty healthy (vegetarian diet). Recently though, I've had no energy, my recovery is way longer (I lift), and I can barely lift my same weights let alone, add more. I think I'll ask my doc this week to check my iron levels. Anyone here…

Lifting & Toe Pain
I'm about 9 mo into SL5x5 and as the weights are slowy getting heavier, I'm really feeling it in my toes of all places. I've been wearing New Balance Minimus but just bought some Chucks in hopes that they'd help. After lifting yesterday, I woke up with pretty painful toes today. Anything I may be doing wrong to cause this?…

Surprise calorie bombs!
I think I have a pretty good understanding of nutrition but sometimes I still get completely shocked. My husband just brought me home a tofu and eggplant bowl from Panda Express and when I logged it, it came to 840 calories! Yikes, that's like 1/2 of what I should eat for the day. I honestly would have guessed around 550.…

Why the SL haters?
The other day I met with the owner of my (weight lifting) gym and he seemed pretty against me continuing SL 5x5 bc I'm a newb to lifting (I did SL for 3 months then have taken a couple months off). He wants to put me on a 3 day program 2x a week incorporating free weights, body weight & machines to help my muscles and…

Lifting and Grief
I was about 3 months into SL 5x5 when my husband passed away 3 weeks ago. I haven't worked out since then but think I'm almost ready. I'm emotional and a bit weak from not eating or sleeping enough. Does anyone have experience lifting after serious trauma? I want to get back into it but am afraid of injuring myself, I have…

2 Quick 5x5 Questions
1. I'm in the 3rd month of the program and have totally stalled on the weights. It's discouraging. I have a lot of stressors at home so my nutrition and sleep are lacking. Should I add more weight and do less reps? 2. When should I start wearing a belt? 5'8" 143 lbs female squat: 105 overhead press: 55 (can't do all 5x5)…

Serious SL fail today
So this afternoon, I jogged down to the gym and started my sl workout for the day. Since I'm only about a month in, I'm trying to be very mindful of my breathing, core, form, etc. I made sure to do proper warm up reps. I felt great and advanced in weight on 2 lifts. I noticed that it felt easier today and faster but didn't…

When people give you advice while lifting
While doing by SL 5x5 today at the gym, an older gentleman came up to me and said, "I've been noticing what lifts you're doing and you really should be using a belt for those, you're young and you don't want to injure your back." I really tried to be gracious and thanked him for his concern and told him I had done some…

Shin Sleeve recommendation?
I found out today why people wear protection on their shins for dead lifts. ouch. Any recommendations? I'd prefer the sleeves to socks or pants so I can minimize laundry :/

SL 5x5 Form Check
Any feedback on form would be greatly appreciated! I'm about 3 weeks into SL and I love it so far but am new to the barbell and everything I know is from you guys here and Mehdi @ SL. I used an unloaded bar bc I had just finished my workout. Also, please don't critique the setup as it's not my usual gym. Thanks!…

2 Years on MFP
I started using MFP after I was asked if I was pregnant... 9 months after I had my 2d baby (10lbs!). I lost about 50 pounds in my early 20's before kids, then lost 50 again pretty easily after my first baby. But it was much harder after my second. My babies were 20 months apart and my body was just tired! But I got out…

NROLFW v SL 5x5
I just started stage 2 of NROLFW but the workouts are annoying me, too many variations. I'm tempted to just start SL 5x5. I'm new to lifting and don't have a spotter but I'm ready to start on my own. Thoughts? Should I finish NRLFW or just jump into SL? TIA.

Lifting: is this appropriate?
I'm a serious newb to lifting. I actually haven't really started at all. At my new gym, I've noticed a woman lifting by herself and we're about the same age/weight/fitness level. I'd like to introduce myself and maybe get some tips, even ask if she wants a partner? Is that weird? Is it ok to say something while she's in…

Easiest way to start lifting??
I'm joining a gym again so I can really start to lift heavy like the rest of y'all. I have no idea what I'm doing. I've seen the names of the programs that are popular here, but what's the simplest way to start? I don't even know how to use some of the equipment. I'd rather not hire a trainer. TIA

Favorite Xbox One Workout?
I know there are other threads on this but there always seems to be new content whenever I look. I've tried Mossa and a few others, I'd like it to be more strength focused. Any favorites before I just try random ones?

Chocolate dipped figs
I've made these twice this week and can't get enough of them! First, I halved fresh figs and dehydrated them overnight. Then, I melted about a cup of good quality dark chocolate (I used Ghirardelli, 60%) with a pat of butter. Dip the figs in the chocolate, lay on a parchment lined baking sheet, then sprinkle with fleur de…

Better fitness = almost passing out
As I've been ramping up my fitness this summer, I've noticed that I've been getting light headed and almost blacking out more often. It usually occurs when I get up too fast, mainly during yoga. Today, I really almost lost it and came close to passing out in class, my vision was fading and I felt like I was about to…

Healthy finds at Smart & Final?
I've been shopping more at Smart & Final but am finding it hard to find many whole grain, organic, or preservative-free products. Other than produce, what are some healthy items you've found there? Going today so I'd like to add to my list. Thank you!

Idea(s) for fresh figs
The house I'm currently in has a several fig trees that just started producing (black ones). I'm loving them and have been eating them sliced and topped with cottage cheese, drizzle of honey, fresh basil, and pepper. It's incredible but I know I will tire of it soon. Any other ideas for fresh figs?

For the curvy girls: Swimsuits for All
I just received a couple tankinis that I ordered from them and I'm pretty impressed. It's been a long time since I've had a properly fitting swimsuit, maybe never. It was only $40 for both suits and shipping. Not bad. They fit right and look cute, cover what they need to and provide support. The best part is that the…

Not a fan of Turbo Kick!
I tried a Turbo Kick class at my gym today and I won't be doing it again. I'm not overweight, in decent shape, no pre-existing knee issues but I'm really feeling my knee after this class. I hope I didn't do any damage. I run, do yoga and resistance so I'm surprised that my knee is hurting. Also my feet were hurting during…

Cauliflower Ideas?
I bought a HUGE orange cauliflower at the famers market yesterday and don't know what to do with it. I made cauliflower w/ cheese sauce recently but I'd like to do something lighter but also something that my toddlers will still eat. Ideas?

Same shirt a year later
I posted a back-view success story a short time ago so sorry for the redundancy but I recently found this before photo from a year ago. Sometimes I don't feel like I've made much progress until I see old pics. It's only about a 10 lb difference, around 160 to 150 but I've definitely amped up my fitness over the year. I…

Ideas for plum syrup?
I made a big batch of plum jam yesterday that didn't set so now I have about 10 jars of plum syrup. It tastes good and is a pretty bright pink color. I'd love some healthy ideas of how I can use it. Beyond topping pancakes and waffles, I don't have much...

Iced coffee cal bomb!
I stopped at Jack and the Box today (for my kids) and got an iced coffee. I usually get unsweetened but didn't bother to specify (and I think they may not even offer unsweetened because I've asked before and it still came sweetened). Anyway, went to log it and it's 268 cal!! Not cool Jack in the Box, not cool. That was…

Nopales anyone?
