Tips for getting up early to exercise
I start work at 7 am. Was kicking around the idea of getting up at 5 to hit treadmill. Can’t find motivation.

Assisted assisted pull-ups
So the gyms pull-up machine is knackered so we can't use it. I have now got a band and have been trying to do assisted pull-ups (*kitten* scared of hanging of the bar but there we go) I can't actually do an assisted pull-up and my friend has to take some of my weight as well. How is the best way to get from an friend…

You should never use TRX if you're over-weight!
This is what a fitness trainer 'buddy' of mine told me. I got the TRX Suspension Trainer for Christmas and was telling him about it. Obviously I know he is motivated to say as much to entice me to go to his gym, BUT, is he right? I am admittedly overweight. Pushing close to 250lbs right now. How I let myself get back to…

Just hit 500 rides via the Peloton App...
Even got a brief call-out near the end of the ride. Love the spin bike, we have Apple Fitness+ as well, for the rowing, but I don't use it that much (more for my wife). Wondering how long it'll take me to get to a 1000 rides :p

I feel like it’s time to start using a belt for squats since I’m lifting heavier and heavier (more than my body weight). I’m not lifting competitively or anything, just want a good belt. Please let me know your recommendations!

What if I reach my goal and stop working out
Probably a dumb question but, I recently lost 45Lbs and my butt is now non existent lol. I’m now 10 lbs away from my goal and want to focus on building my glutes. If I start lifting and build muscle and then when I’m satisfied with my body I stop lifting, will I maintain the muscle or lose it?

Withings health mate calorie adjustment
HELP! I wear a Withings fitness watch. I don’t know what I’ve done wrong but for some reason Withings keeps removing calories from my daily allowance - called “negative calorie adjustments”. I’ve into the app and the website to try and stop this but it keeps happening?! Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong? Thanks to…

Calling all fitbit-ers!
Do you eat back your exercise calories? If yes, why? If no, why? Just got mine today and interested in how others govern their fit-bit synced MFP journey.

Thanks Garmin!
Sometimes when you're doing something rhythmic that takes concentration, you get into a state of "flow" and time stands still for you. But not for the rest of reality. We've had historic snowfall over the last week or so. Both of our passes through the Cascades have been closed for several days, with people stranded up…

Muay Thai & Brazilian Jiujitsu
Hello all- I've recently started taking Muay Thai and will be transitioning into Brazilian Jiujitsu next week. Thus far, I've found Muay Thai to be a great form of exercise which has really helped me lose a lot of weight so far. I expect the Brazilian Jiujitsu will help to accelerate the weight loss, or at least I hope it…

HIIT versus treadmill runs
My condo gym has closed again due to Omicron. That means I no longer have access to my primary method of losing and maintaining my weight. (I am on the chubby side so it takes a lot of cardio for me to lose weight. I keep my daily calories under 1750, but go over sometimes). Since the condo gym closed, I started watching…

Bent Over Rows with Curl Bar
Tried bent over rows with a curl bar today. Elbows flare out a little more, feeling is more natural. Control over the bar feels much better. Just wandering if this is a thing and and thoughts.

Fur baby
Very excited about the fact I become a dog dad for the first time tonight. A collie/bulldog cross who is certainly going to keep me on my toes and up my exercise levels, especially now I’ve gone from busy job to desk jockey

Fitness on Demand Services
Years ago, I was using a fitness on demand service that I loved. However, I'm disenchanted with them now and looking for a different one. I see that MFP has some exercise programs, but there doesn't seem to be as many choices as I'd like - and it appears you can only opt for one of their plans at a time - unless that is…

Talk to Me About a Bowflex
I was tossing around the idea of getting a bench and a set of Powerblox or similar, in case of another shutdown. My trainer says if I go the home route, to get a Bowflex, that it works everything, she had one several years ago and loved it. All the Bowflex threads here are several years old. Anyone got a Bowflex, which…

Should I count calories burned bagging groceries?
I hate to start another one of those threads, buuuut... I work at a grocery store, standing/bagging most of the time. While I definitely don't feel like I got a workout in after a shift, I do realize my heart rate increases, and I'm more hungry than if I was just sitting around the house. I actually wore my HRM to work one…

2 Songs Worth of Free Weights?
Back in early 2020, I began doing moderate cardio for 5-8 minutes every other day. Nearly two years and 85lbs/6 stone later, I can easily manage 30+ minutes of fast-paced cardio daily. Well, it's a new year and time to start another new habit. I've got two 15 lb. dumbbells, a weight bench, absolute noodle arms, and with…

A ? for the walkers
This may have been asked before but I just couldn't find the answer. I have seen walkers, some walk with their arms bent and really swinging the arms. I have also seen walkers with their arms extended beside them and swinging their ams. What is the correct way to "walk"? I have tired it with my elbows bent and just…
