Good morning Marie, thank you for befriending me. No longer am I a lonely little harebell! No, diary - public DOESNT show up on MY profile. However if you all can see it I shall expect you all to comment on my good habits, lol, or more likely; lack of! I'm really interested in your 111 plan. It makes sense. I somewhat slipped yesterday. Super meal at a restaurant for my lovely grandson. Thanks again, you sound to be a very lovely person, and we need all the lovely people we can find today. Anne.

    Your diary is public.........

  • Thank you Lin for letting me know my diary is public. When I look at my profile it doesn't show that it is, hence me trying and trying. On the previous system it did. I'm afraid I'm not very savvy at this computer lark, coming from the old shorthand and typing era, boy I'm showing my age. Still, one is never too old to learn and it's lots of fun even if one doesn't get the ironing done, or is that past too? all this wrinkle free stuff, sigh. LOL. Must buy new clothes! Enjoy your day, Anne.

Hi Marie! I'm 47. Not quite golden yet, but would like to join in. My husband and I will have been married 21 years come February. I have finally bounced back from knee-replacement surgery and am ready to get moving and eating better again.

Thanks for the reply, Marie. We live in Reno, NV, although I am originally from Nashville, TN and John is from Ottumwa, IA. We both work at the local community college. No kids (by choice) but we do have a 19-year old dog. Merry Christmas!

You folks will help keep me on the beam, too.

Snow on the mountains up around Tahoe. We don't have any down here in the valley yet. Reno is at the bottom of a big bowl ringed by mountains.

smiley-cool05.gif Today was another holiday party. This one started at lunch time so planned ahead what I would eat and stuck to my plan. I knew what they would have so it was easy to make the plan....I ate things I don't keep in my house (cheese and fancy mixed nuts)

Amazing Marie, keep it up! I still have to enter in the Easter Challenge but sorry to say not a loss, just going up. Too many temptations this time of year for me. I find it a challenge.
Giving myself another couple of weeks and then back to losing again.

BlueHare -So glad to hear your hair is maintaining and it is important at our Golden Years to have enough fat in our diet. Too much is not good either but we do need fats like
Avocados, Olive Oils and many others in moderation. It also helps with our joints to keep them lubricated.

    Already posted this on my Home page but thought I’d share. Since I am within one size of goal (est. Feb.), I bought some bargains in that size today. Nautica shirt (orig. $69.50) paid $20.40; Nautica shorts (orig. 54.50) paid $10.50; Nautica Spring jacket (orig. $89.98) paid = $26.99;

    THAT WAS $213.98 for $57.89!!!

This NEVER happens in the Big/Tall stores – you pay through the nose even for junk!

Can't wait to get fully down that last size...

Dieting should be easy Sunday – babysitting grandchildren (girl 4 / boy 7) all afternoon and evening. They love adult interaction – card games, Nintendo DS games; building things out of Lego’s, reading to me, magic shows, taking walks outside etc. – not like years ago. (Thank goodness for SmartPhones - I get to stay connected to email etc. on the sly LOL

Brandy and Sasha got new haircuts today. They looked so beautiful, I couldn't resist taking their picture before we went for a walk.

:D Bob, congrats on your weight loss and finding great bargains in your (soon to be) new size.

:D Shirley, Jake and I both liked the Garfield quote.

194904olsgis3xqe.gifMy line dance class was fabulous today. We danced familiar dances to ten different holiday songs (8 Christmas and 2 Hanukkah). One woman brought homemade Christmas ornaments for everyone and a poinsettia plant for me, several brought sweet treats, and the class gave me a card and a gift certificate to my favorite restaurant. Lots of people thanked me for the fun class and there was lots of laughter throughout the morning.

smiley-bounce013.gifAfter class Jake took me for my mammogram and then took me out to the Mexican restaurant that has spinach tamales and all the pico de gallo you want to put on them.

Somebody wrote on a new thread about their medication causing them to gain weight and many people responded. I was going to add my 2 cents, but it didn’t look like it was going to be an on-going thread (like this one) where people really try to help and encourage each other .

So I thought I’d post what was going to be my reply here -

I take multiple medications (anti-arrhythmic, statin, beta blocker, calcium channel blocker, methotrexate etc.); I recently read an article on Livestrong website on how to lose weight while on methotrexate – the advice would probably fit many drugs… Talk to your doctor… Adjust your daily calorie intake to create a deficit… Use an online calculator to figure out your basal metabolic rate… Clean up eating habits and avoid processed foods and snacks high in refined sugars, trans-fats and sodium… Increase activity levels by exercise at least 3 days per week (strength training and cardiovascular)…swimming, walking, biking, fitness class etc. It would probably be easy to google...if it is of interest to anyone.
