Do it! I don't know how much it all costs though. Only if it is within your budget. Or you can join me lifting sofas and dogs...
start with a chihuahua and work your way up. A Great Dane gets you extra points!
You can work up to lifting your partner too, lol. My husband loves to tell me how many of me he can deadlift and tries to bench me sometimes too...but I'm way too squirmy/floppy (much like a chihuahua or, more likely, a Great Dane...) Big compound lifts for you, core strength from the necessary planking for him

I messaged the lady saying if she couldn't find an owner I might be interested in her. We'll see, there were lots of other people saying they would want her, but I do have experience with the breed so that may weigh in my favour. I'm not sure how my current dog or my roommate (my brother) would feel about it though...0 -
I did!! Whoops, nice catch!
Lol. I didn't catch that one.0 -
Guilty as charged here ... major lurker since day one and love the camaraderie, support and fun/sad and everything else on the site ... it has rekindled my motivation after gaining back 20lbs of the 50lbs that I lost a few years ago on here ... kudos to all for making it what it is. Awesome0 -
My dog, amazing huntress that she (apparently) is, caught a bat last night. I was surprised, and a little impressed. Anyway, the poor little thing's leg/wing was broken so I took it to an emergency vet that was open. I don't know if they'll help it or just euthanize it, but either one is better than letting it suffer outside. I know they're big carriers of rabies, so I wore gloves to pick it up (and threw them away after) and my dog is going today to get her rabies shot (she's due for it anyway).
What surprised me is that Alberta Health Services called me. They wanted to know if any humans had been in contact with it. I told him it was just me and I'd worn gloves so he just told me to call him back if I have any concerns. It makes it seem even more serious than I thought! But I was very careful, and even used vinegar to rinse the blood away in the yard - I don't know if vinegar is strong enough, but it's better than nothing.0 -

I read an article about her in Runner's World magazine, that I am going to send to my MFP friends that I have email addresses for. She is inspiring, clearly vastly intelligent and talented and a dedicated runner who does not let her size define her. You should check it out.
I seen a heavier girl jogging last night while I was driving home from work & thought "you go girl." I hope she looks up safety while running, because I noticed she was running with the traffic behind her rather than the other way around.0 -

There was a thread here a long time ago asking "what can you lift" and gave you the comparable animal. Hang on, let's see if I can find it...

Ha ha ha conflicting advice!! What to do!! Squash(es?) are pretty big aren't they. I might have to find a back up for the other half if it goes wrong...
I like it cheesy spaghetti/casserole style, but my FAVE is squeezing all of the water out (this is IMPORTANT) and mixing with an egg or greek yogurt, canned salmon or tuna, cheese of choice, optional bacon, green onions, garlic, and a dash of smoke and Worcestershire sauce. Mix it all up and fry or broil in patties. Egg holds the patties together better but the yogurt is creamy and delicious. Feta is amazing in this. The squash has the texture of hash browns. It's surprisingly low cal even with all of the goodies in it and tastes like comfort food.
I usually get a big squash, do "spaghetti" one night with half, and let the other half dry out in the fridge for salmon patties the next night. Mmmmm... I know what I'm making this weekend.
ETA: spaghetti made with squash does NOT taste like spaghetti. You have to like it for itself (which I do). The patties hide the veggie.

Yup yup yup! I'm away next week. I have a feeling I'm going to be picking up sofas and stuff. Deadlift a small person or a dog...

I'm glad they take it seriously, anyway (but I'm impressed with your dog's skills!) Rabies is kinda terrifying.kellyjellybellyjelly wrote: »

I think half the joggers/runners I see on any given day on my commute are overweight, which I think is awesome. It says to me that people are a) taking control of their health, and b)not caring about what they think other people will say or think (although truthfully I think very, very few people who see a heavier person exercising think anything other than "that's great, I should do more of that too.")
And @m1xm0d3, I'm not surprised you have trouble with roller coasters at your height alone. One of my friends is just 6'4" and probably 150 pounds (that is, absolutely rail-thin and underweight for his height) and there was a coaster at Knott's Berry Farm they didn't want to let him ride because the point his head was on the headrest would have been dangerous, I guess. But he's mostly legs and relatively short torsoed, so when he got into the car, he did juuuuust fit safely, so they let him ride. But I gather that happens a lot with the high-speed coasters.

In scotland? No problem! We'll roll call early next year and I'll organise something. Everyone welcome, whether they're mountain climbing or not!
Non climbers are even more fun... its motivation to finish and have a personal cheering squad!0 -

Seriously! Do we just need to role call every now and then?
I was thinking the same thing. Require everyone to give a shout out every 100 pages or so!0 -
You know it sounds so weird but I do the same thing when I'm working out haha we are all working out together in my head!
I think about what I am going to post/catch up on, how everyone is doing, how I can help, what I can say, kick myself for something I did say (did I offend, was I too blunt?) and lately on my longer runs I think about when I get laid off going on a road trip across the US/Canada/UK and to Saudi Arabia to visit everyone! I plot it all in my head .... kills the miles!0 -

Its disgusting Don't do it.
I think Nicci and I are the same person. I agree. It is disgusting. DON'T DO IT. I am going to judge here, I think the only people who like it are people who eat it because they think its healthy. Like people fool themselves into believing zucchini is good for them and tasty. Its an illusion. You are all nuts.0 -

I think it happens after the bra fitting conversations usually. Which seem to happen with amazing regularity. I am still surprised Mrxbunglex or however his name went never came back, he seemed pretty committed. I liked him.0 -

You will love lifting! Let us know when you try it!
I did it with crossfit last year. I liked it but my form was never quite right, that is why I want to work with the trainers downstairs first, to get my form right before I start lifting weights on my own, unsupervised, in a gym!0 -

Yep. There is a ride here, an indoor rollercoaster (Area 51), that now they changed the restraints the bar won't fit over my knee to rest on my lap. It's like my shins are too long. Eh, at least I got to ride it before they screwed the tall guys over. lol0 -
