Dad is still in the hospital. He had a follow up MRI this morning. He will have a PT consult on Monday (VA time is not trauma center time. I don't like that.)

Expletive deleted!!! My dad got to go home today, but I picked up a nail in my front tire driving through a construction zone. They are adding on to the hospital he was in. It's needed but expletive deleted.

Dad has several follow up appointments in the next few days, but he's happy to be home.

I hope he gets better and you don't have to admit again anytime soon. Sorry about the nail. I hate it when that happens!

Thanks, LeeAnn. I want to know the results of his echo, but I bet he won't tell me.

Thanks, Quik! I appreciate it. Pray for the nursing staff. There is a picture of my dad next to "problem patient" in the nursing dictionary. He doesn't want to wear the EKG leads. He was trying to pull his IV access out last night. He does want his chewing tobacco that he can't have.

I hope everything turns out ok. My gran had a mini stroke and was complaining, why am I on the old codger ward? Because you are 82 Grandma. She never did act her age! She recovered well, I hope your dad does too.

He seems to be okay so far, Spam. He is home at least.

@MsFlabULess , love your hair! I used to have funky coloured hair when I was a cool young'un but no way can I be bothered now. I'm super lazy with myhair though. I'm getting straighteners for the first time ever this week. Don't know if I'll actually use them regularly.

Back home after a little holiday to Devon. We had a good time except my husband was ill so we had to go to an emergency doctor. Tonsillitis so he's feeling rough. I'm glad it was only a short holiday. Pandy really enjoyed himself. He got to cuddle a piglet!

I have a happy confession. My dad has never been very demonstrative. He's not talkative and I never felt we communicated much. He's hard working and shows his love by doing, not saying. He's really amazing, but I can count on one hand the number of hugs/kisses we've shared since I became an adult. Not complaining, just laying some foundation.

Since I started powerlifting, my dad has become very interested in my progress. He's talking with me about different aspects of it, wants updates on my competitions, and is telling my grandparents (his parents) about what I'm doing. It makes my little girl heart swell, knowing my dad is so proud of me. (I just teared up, typing that.)

Aw now I'm getting a bit misty!

Aw, shoot! I forgot to weigh this morning. Possibly for the best, stress is through the roof. My daddy had a mini stroke yesterday. They are doing a battery of tests today and I am sitting at my desk pretending to work.

Keeping your dad in my prayers & hoping for some good news.

Dad update. He is physically weak, but mentally okay.
Mel update: I am not happy that we don't have a date to follow up with his PCP or a PT appointment set yet. I work at the speed of a trauma center. The VA does not. My dad deserves better.

VA's suck. Our veterans deserve better.

He said, "the service is slow, but the price is right." He is 84; he thinks it doesn't matter because he is unlikely to reach his next birthday anyway.

We fought with the VA when my maternal grandpa needed assisted living. My grandma finally called our local senator and he got involved. It was amazing how quickly things happened after that.

That made me pretty jaded. If it could happen quickly when the senator called, it could have happened quickly without him involved. :/

We have an entire file cabinet devoted to our dealings with the VA. They're the worst for real. I feel you, @MelissaPhippsFeagins

Yay for dad being well mentally and boo to the VA being dumb!

Foam roll and do some yoga at home? I'll join you! Aka my butt needs to stretch out lol

I need to do some foam rolling. My legs feel like someone tried to chop them off with a Louisville Slugger. That's what I get for not doing legs for 2 weeks.

I've been foam rolling ever day (since Friday when my trainer discovered my range of motion issues) and stretching, doing down dog and pigeon specifically.

My attitude at work this week sucks. I just want it to be Friday so we can go camping!!!

Work those hips!! I have been using the piriformis stretch ( I think the pigeon covers that) and it helps my lower back/sciatic area a lot.

Dad update: my brother took his car keys and won't give them back. My dad is mad as a wet hen.
