As others have said, calories. That's really it. Cutting out certain foods is not necessary. I haven't cut out any foods that I enjoy. Not even the refined carbs and sugar that some seem to think are so evil. I've lost 47 pounds and gotten my BMI down to 21.6 with no restrictions other than CICO. Still seeing consistent losses too. I have at least one treat every day. I've learned how to make it fit into my calorie goals, and eating what I want is a sustainable plan for me. I ate Pop Tarts after dinner tonight. I don't feel the least bit guilty either.

    "Evil"?
    Hyperbole much?
I have a treat every day as well.
But you probably couldn't pay me to eat a pop tart. :D

It's been years since I've had a pop tart, though I used to love them. I go through these strange phases. For example, for years I would not eat mayonnaise because I just didn't like it anymore. Recently, I started eating it again and my taste has come back.

Maybe I will try a pop tart again and see if still like them. :)

Empty carbs. I sure do miss my mac and cheese, but I don't look pregnant anymore so I got that goin for me.
    sugar and chocolate

If you like these foods, why not learn to eat them in moderation?

As others have said excess calories and excuses. Moderation has been key for me, and seeing all food for what it is...just food. You control the food and the portions, not the other way around. Don't let the food control you. Once you realize all of this, life is so much easier. qq6grqv3055z.gif

yup. I just realized how much control influences this entire thing; I switched from being controlled by exercise and diet to me controlling them when I joined MFP, and didn't realize that power switch until like... yesterday haha. If you're gonna blame external forces on your experiences (food, family, holidays, etc) then you're really not taking control of your own weight loss/management experience.

I've never had cheese curds. I have absolutely no reference as to their texture or taste, and it's killing me not to know. Can someone help me out here? What are they like?

They taste like salty, squeaky HEAVEN. So. Good.

First thing you've ever post that I agree with. Salty, squeaky, slippery heaven.

Wait, so you two are going to be BFFs now??

    Doubtful :)

I love corn dogs. I have a daughter who eats the breaking off first, and that is gross.

I know it's not "magic" and ultimately it's just "calories" but coffee creamer. I wasn't officially measuring my coffee creamer just estimating. I now measure it and limit myself to 100 cal a day. (Wth some exceptions) That makes me limit my coffee intake. And I have increased my water. I've been losing 1 pound a week. The week I started changing my coffee regiment I lost 3 pounds. The only difference was adding in water and actually measuring my creamer and therefore limiting it. I'm pretty sure I wasn't eating at 7000 extra calories in creamer a week

Sugary sports drinks, fatty/sugary protein bars, and soda. I drink more water instead of Gatorade and Coke, and eat higher quality protein bars (less fat and sugar), allowing more available calories to things that are more satiating and that lend to having a better balance of macro nutrients.

I have no idea to be honest. Im at the beginning of my weight loss "journey" and Ive cut all junkfood out (incl soda) and my absolute faveorite: ice cream. Ive also on recommendation cut out white potatoes entirely, and carbs from my dinner. I guess I'll see how it goes..

Excuses (it's too cold to go for a walk), rationalization (I know I don't need to eat more, but I'm still "hungry") and justification (I had a bad day, I need to treat myself with more comfort food.)
