But is it wrong that I planned a gelato crawl (like a pub crawl, but with gelato) in my head tonight? I can think of 8 places off the top of my head within walking distance of my house that I can get little cups or cones of gelato. One is in completely the other direction of all the others, but hey, exercise! Then there's two cinemas and two pizzerias that do single serves also within walking distance. And then four supermarkets that sell litre tubs...
I mean, I wouldn't actually do it, but a girl can dream, right??
Your hemisphere is doing it wrong...0 -

It happens! Or I count grams to make it fit in my day...0 -

It's usually not worth it to me if I can only have one serving, haha. I usually eat 1.5 servings - that seems like enough to satisfy me. Two servings is even better, if I have the calories.0 -

It depends on how many calories I have left and what I'm eating. If it's Edy's Slow Churned, that's usually 2 servings (200-260 calories total). Gelato and other ice creams, usually 1-1.5, and Ben & Jerry's/Graeter's I stick to one serving because of the higher calorie amount.0 -
Has anyone tried an ice cream of the month club? Or even just having an order of ice cream shipped to their house? I don't have a ton of options at my local stores and was wondering how ice cream holds up via Fedex/UPS.0

If they package it with dry ice it should be okay, but I don't remember how long dry ice lasts.
I would totally be down for an ice cream of the month club0 -

Yes I've had Jeni's delivered 3 times now, they pack it in dry ice and it's been fine.0 -

Most nights it's just 1 serving, if I have extra room I like something different normally, cookies, cupcakes, etc. Or I have a serving early and a different kind later.0 -

When cutting I often have less than one full serving. But then I like to keep a little room for wine or beer with dinner and maybe some tequila to sip after dinner.

Lol Ben and jerrys is not very calorie friendly. I'll eat 1 or two servings nightly.0 -

That's a good point too-- I usually have 2 servings if it's Edy's slow-churned too. I've just gotten to be such a snob that I don't have any of that around. :laugh:0 -

Pretty much this unless it's jeni's because 2 servings would be $5-7...0 -

Yeah, you're right. It's easier to fit in two servings of Edy's or Breyers, which is why I get them sometimes. I'm getting 1 and 1/3 servings of Talenti tonight. Stoked.
I was just curious because it seems like I have trouble with that one serving moderation, but I do plan my day around a bit more than a serving. As the day progresses and I feel like I need more food or want to hit my macros better, I'll subtract from the gelato...Not always though0 -
I went by Whole Foods and grabbed two Mission Hill pints (thanks for the rec @sistrsprkl) and one of McConnell's which is out of Santa Barbara. Won't have enough calories for more than a taste or two for the next few days, but will post reviews in the Group! All these were $8.50 a pint at WF.

Chocolate covered strawberry ice cream? That's it, I'm moving to California.
Sadly, I don't get any frozen goodies tonight...there was birthday cake instead.0 -

Yeah, couldn't resist. The description on the side reads: " . . . decadently rich sweet cream, crammed full of picked-at-their-prime, Santa Barbara strawberries and our deliciously dark Guittard bittersweet, melted chocolate chip." Haven't open it yet, but I presume the strawberries aren't actually dipped, they just share the same base with the chocolate. I am anxiously awaiting to see what "crammed full" means in this marketing blurb.

Meh. I don't like chocolate covered strawberries. Let us know how it is though. I can't read the other flavors.0 -
I've been neglecting frozen deserts for pan dulce and cookies.
I was able to buy some Talenti at Krogers, didn't have a whole lot of variety in the flavors though. I picked chocolate coffee chip. It's not a favorite but it was exactly what I needed that day after all that happened.

Turkish Coffee and Ricotta Fig. I am probably most excited by Ricotta Fig.

Yeah yeah! Ricotta fig. WTF. Sounds nice.0 -
@cortelli, haven't tried the ricotta fig yet but I want to! Headed down towards SB this weekend so I'll be going back to McConnell's. Let me know how you like Mission Hill, the best in CA I've had so far...
ETA, Mission Hill is $7 at my store - guess that's a deal0 -

This. I think I'm probably the exception in the group but my nightly glass (or two) of wine is a priority for me, so if im having gelato I often do a half serving, or do something like a couple of oreos or a square of dark chocolate if I'm really close on cals.
I'm toying with the idea of upping my cals for the cleanse, I've been saying for months that its time to move to maintenance but I never changed my calorie goal because I like having a buffer, and I'm 3 lbs from a stretch goal. The extra 100 cals I.would start out with would make it easier to really embrace the Spring Cleanse and eat more baked goods I think.

Tried a bit of the Ricotta Fig last night. Very good - very creamy and rich. Both the ricotta and fig flavors were a little muted by vanilla and cinnamon in the ice cream, but it was very, very yummy as was.
Side note: Not sure how to log it. The pint lists a serving size as 4 oz (88g). Of course, 88g is only a bit over 3 oz. Emailed the creamery but I am guessing that the serving size should actually be 1/2 cup (88g).

Does anyone start eating ice cream with the intention of consuming that 1 serving on the label but then ends eating the whole thing.....???0

Nope. I measure (weigh) out my 100 grams, put away the pint, and go into another room to sloooooowly eat my one serving. When the bowl is licked clean, into the dishwasher it goes!0 -

Yup. ^^
In fact, I find myself enjoying food now more than ever instead of shoveling it into my face in mass quantities. It's like the flavor was fleeting and so I had to keep eating more and more. And for ice cream, once I get past a certain point, I feel I can't taste it anymore anyway because my mouth is numb from cold. Eating it slow or having it with wine or tea is heavenly.0 -

This is definitely me with the cold mouth thing too. I only noticed that once I started focusing on eating things slowly.
