Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding.

    Good Morning, Ladies.

Lesley, it sounds like your new family member has fit right in. So happy for you!

Joyce, glad you are feeling better and hope you get to catch up on sleep. Most of the clothes they are showing for Spring simply aren't in colors that I wear. I'm a winter so need deeper tones and no pastels.

Allison, I'll bet that everyone enjoyed Homer's visit and he did too. I did laugh about you becoming such good friends with all the Lowes workers. Be careful or they will try to hire you before it's over.

I went for my bloodwork this morning and then stopped at McDonalds for an eggwhite Mcmuffin. I forgot to take my morning pills with me, which include a pain pill, so after just a few minutes of shopping my back was beginning to hurt. So much for that. Came home and took my pills and here I am, waiting for the pain to subside so I can do some exercising. Oh and my drama for the day is that my desktop computer won't connect to the WiFi. Boo hiss! So I'm on my little laptop that I normally only use for travel.

I hope you all have a happy and healthy day. <3

    Words I live by:
Savor: I have to slow down and savor every bite.
Opportunity: Each day offers new opportunities for good health and happiness if we just look for them and choose them.

ps: I wanted to eat sooooooo much more and a lot more of it... my tummy can't take food in the way it used to, there was a lot of food I didn't try.

Michele: Thanks for your explanation of Chicken Foot dominoes. I would love to watch a game. I wish I could help with the pool problem, but I’ve never owned a pool of any kind. I don’t swim for exercise, I swim to play, and that is usually done in the river once it warms up in the summer.

Janet: We did have an eggscelent Easter. DDIL was here and we had a lovely time with her. We got to talk to DS on the phone, but not DD and family, unfortunately. I also wonder what “silent reflux” is. I’ve been taking medication to control acid reflux for several decades. I agree with your advice to Michele.

Lesley: Your day at the beach with Blaise sounds great. I can hardly wait to see some pictures.

Naomi: I have spent years waking up and worrying about this or that. I’m working hard to learn better sleeping habits. I get 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep more often than I used to, but I’m far from perfect. I simply don’t think well when I’m over tired, and I’m really motivated to keep a sharp brain.

Alison: We lived in a remodeling project for years. I never want to do that again. DD seems to have taken up where we finished and is constantly working on her house. Luckily her DH has carpentry skills. Unluckily, he works 6 long days a week and only has one to devote to the house. There are many projects started and few finished. On the plus side he does good work.

Pip: I love the pictures of the dessert tray. Is that chocolate fudge I see? Yum. The berries look good, too. The restaurant is in a lovely location with blue skies and boats!

Yoga today, and then??? We still don’t have our taxes done and it is DH’s job. I’m getting pretty nervous about not having them already sent off. I’ll do what ever I can to support getting them done and in the mail.

Good morning. All caught up and checking in. Very quiet week end; mainly OD'd on Netflix and Mad Men marathon. Trying to get used to the sight of the surgery and bruising when I change the bandage........may never leave the house again, lol. One good thing.....it can only get better.

Lesley........I am soooooooo happy you found your dog!!!! Many, many happy years to you all!!!

    Good morning ladies,

Janet: I tried to get my son's to help do menu planning...it was like pulling teeth. So they've lost the privilege. Fortunately, I'm pretty flexible so when I have more leftovers than I thought or plans change I can usually make substitutions. I must admit that as difficult as I find menu planning, having one helps me to eat and manage my meals better. I'm hoping that being more organized will help me when I get back to work and have less time for cooking.

Michele I used to only plan evening meals but now I plan breakfast and lunch too. I'm also one of those people who need time to wake up in the morning. I've started putting mini frittatas in the freezer that I can heat up in the microwave.

Joyce: So glad that you got a good night's sleep. It sure makes a world of difference.

Mary: I love Texas. I was actually there once and the music jams were lovely. I couldn't believe how talented some of the performers were especially since they were amateurs.

Thought for the day: You must do the things you think you cannot do. - Eleanor Roosevelt

Well I have a number of things that I must do even though I really don't want to. Too much of the ostrich syndrome lately (got my head in the sand). I think I'll take a tip from Lillian and put them in a jar and pull one out and just do it.

Pip, loved your photos. That amount didn't look so bad. LOL The view of the harbor was very pretty.

Jan, hope you are feeling better. It will heal. Right now I have a large raw spot on my cheek where she iced a place.

Janet, hope your blood work comes out OK. Bach aches are the worst.

JaneMartin, I hope you have time to finish your packing. The thought of moving befuddles me. I have closets that have 30 years of clothing in them. I'm sure it would be quite easy to take most of it the GW and will get to it some day. Sometimes I feel like my feet are tied together and won't let me budge.

My grand kids had a ton of fun hiding eggs yesterday. It was fun to watch and be with our small family.

Good morning! I got in over 16,000 steps yesterday and that made me feel really good! I also cooked and ate a large, but reasonable in calories meal--grilled salmon, zesty snow peas, glazed carrots, and mashed potatoes. It was probably a little heavy on starches, but it was what my mouth wanted AND what I had in the house. (I'm never quite sure if peas are a vegetable vegetable or a vegetable starch.) After dinner settled a bit, I went to the grocery store to get some eggs (I was out and they were on sale), bread, and milk. I came out with those three items plus a marked down rotisserie chicken, cottage cheese, light sour cream, and bananas--not too bad. On the way home, I treated myself to a McDonald's ice cream cone and still went to bed with 700 calories left. The only thing I didn't log was my serving of communion!

Janet - What kind of oat bran did you get get? Maybe I'm figuring something wrong. Please tell me where I'm screwing up! Bob's Mill oat bran is 150 calories for 1/3 cup so that's 450 calories per cup and 1,350 per 3 cups. That alone is 112 calories per muffin (assuming 12 muffins) without the brownie mix. Math is not my strong suit so help me, PLEASE!!!

I'm at work today although most people in the area are not. Easter Monday was the official North Carolina Easter holiday for a LONG time. Evidently NC State and UNC-Chapel Hill (arch rivals) played baseball on the Monday after Easter and the legislators all wanted to go watch, therefore a holiday. Nowadays, it's a mixed bag, but schools are always closed on the Monday after Easter. Also, because I work for churches, Holy Week is NOT the time to take off work--way too much to be done--so Monday is typically the holiday. However, I was out so much last week due to being sick that I am working today.

Does anyone here live in Texas? Specifically in the Dallas area? I am going to Dallas for a week in late May and would love to have some suggestions of restaurants, etc. I will be staying in downtown Dallas and won't have a car which limits me.

Well, back to work I go! Hope everyone has a great day!

Pip, just what I needed today. Food Porn! It looks delicious!

Janet, I understand how irritating it can be to use a less familiar device. I normally use my ipad and am using my antique desktop this morning. (It is so old that it had Windows 2000 on it when I bought it. I've upgraded to XP.) I keep waiting for it to correct my spelling, but it doesn't.

I'm just about chewing nails this morning. My dear darling son is jerking me around and he thinks I don't know. He didn't want to come to Easter Dinner yesterday because he was SOOOO tired and worn out from moving, he just needed some time alone to relax. So, the kids came without him. OK, fine. I told the kids I was going to send home a plate of food and one of them told me to be sure to send enough for Julie, because she was there too. They told me she is there every day. Julie is the evil stepmother who he is supposedly divorcing and can't stand to be around. OK, so fine. He knows I don't approve of her since the way she acted when she was drunk and mistreated the kids, not to mention HIM, and in a small way ME (called me names and belittled me). So fine, I hold a grudge and he is more forgiving. Hmmm. Well, where was she when we were moving all his crap from one apartment to the other? Where was she when his mother - with a HEART CONDITION was moving his furniture? Nowhere.

So, this morning I was supposed to go over there after taking the kids to school and help clean the old apartment. I had put my own obligations on hold to do it, because this is the day it needs to be done. Fine. So, he called me bright and early and said that he couldn't start cleaning till 10:00 because the cable guy is supposed to come between 8-10. Oh, and by the way yesterday he dropped a cast iron pan on his foot and can hardly walk, so he's not sure how much use he will be. Translation...You will have to do it all. Then at 9:45 he called and said 10:00 is not good either because something else has come up. So, I sit here with my cleaning supplies all packed and ready. I told him I could go start on my own and he could come up later, but he didn't want to do that. So, the day is going to creep by and it's not going to get done or I will be up there late into the evening cleaning.

Also, it turns out that he wants to start repaying the deposit we paid for the new apartment in small installments (which NEVER actually happens). I suspect he has promised the deposit money from the old apartment to Julie, but that's just a guess.

Well, it feels better to get that off my chest. Sometimes it's hard to be the mother of a master manipulator.

I have all the kids masks loaded in the kiln for their final firing. Then I can be done with it. That will feel good.

Tomorrow I have to do the prep for my colonoscopy and upper/lower gi scope on Wednesday. I hate that stuff. The laxative makes me gag. I tried it in the past with the pills, but didn't like that either. I had to drink too much water all at once. I fear that this one is the same way. But this time it says I can drink orange juice and lemonade and tea. I don't think I was allowed to do that before. I'm supposed to start the prep at 3:00 and I'm supposed to take the kids to swimming lessons at 6:00, so something is going to have to be done about that. Hubby said he thinks he can do it.

Well, I need to go do something. Anything. I hope you are all having a great day.

    Sylvia

    Happy Monday all!
Off for a nice walk at lunch. Have been managing 7-10k steps every day since I got my Fitbit – yup, it helps keep me moving.

I’m working today and tomorrow, off to Knoxville for work W-Th. Trivia tonite with my daughter who is in town. I’ll have a beer, but skip the pizza in favor of salad.

I use Chrome on both phone and computer, and MFP boards and app show up really nicely.

Pip – good idea taking photos of food to account for it later! Tks. And thanks for the pics of you and DH!
    Jan – Hang in there
Joan – as Barbie quotes “Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.” Thomas A. Edison
    Beth - Nice Minion
Carol – Wow, 16k steps is a lot of miles, good going!
    Welcome Starofsky!

    Good afternoon!

Quiet day. DH's team won. :drinker: At this rate they could be in the Premiership next year.
I watched a very good film - The Sessions, with Helen Hunt as a sex therapist helping a severely disabled man. Very tenderly and discretely done.

Soon to have a chilli with roasted butternut squash and cauliflower. I have made enough chilli for 4 meals for two. Love that! The smell is killing me!

Still holding on to my lost pound. I am pleased with myself today for not bingeing while DH was away for the day. o:) Also for finishing my 600 cals exercise after he had gone. o:)o:) Also I read a bit more from the website on how to write a blurb and a bit more technical stuff. Soon I will have to take the plunge and actually put the book on there. Not sure what size to make the paperback. 6 × 9 ? Or smaller? Any suggestions?

Love to all. Heather UK in the sunshine. :D

    Happy Monday ! ! !

Yesterday I drank a Mocha Frappe from Burger King, then typed it into MFP. WOW ! ! ! I forced myself to exercise as much as possible just so I could have a salad for supper (I can tolerate the knee pain longer on the bike if I'm playing Candy Crush). The weather was clear and chilly, so we took DS to the batting cages. It looks (to me) like he is ready for the High School try-outs, but DH is the expert.

Carey (and all others) lol about my plateau. It was a lot of work, but worth the effort. And it has given me more desire to keep trying harder. Thanks for the support !

Heather - I saw "Sessions" with my Dad when it first came out. I can understand how some people would be offended, but we both found it touching and informative.

Sylvia - (((Hugs))) for the DS situation. My instinct wants to say "Natural Consequences", but I also know the inner turmoil of being a Mom. IMHO, the priorities are yourself and your grandkids. I wish you the best. More Hugs. It's so hard being a Mom sometimes. :'(

As for the missing Gift Certificate, I looked through DH's pile of junk mail, and there it was. I even found another from a year ago given to DH and me from my Dad. That place put an expiration date on it, so we'll see if I can sweet-talk them into an extension.

The kitchen floor is looking amazing. The taupe and beige tiles really subdues the ugly shade of green that the people before us painted on the walls. He should be there now, putting the finishing touches on the grout between the tiles, and we should be allowed back in there some time tomorrow.

    Hugs for Everyone ! ! !

    Hi Everyone,
Katla49 I am sleeping more of a 7-8 hours total. I have a c-pap now. My Fybromyalga is under decent management too. This all helps. Usually I can sleep w/out a problem. This one work situation has been really tough. Usually when something bothers me like that I know I need to bring it to prayer. Less than a month and a half & this project will be done.

Damitjanit Hope your pain subsides soon or at least receeds to a tollerable level.

Pip The picts look great. Props for being so honest when reporting your food.

Dia_nruf Hope the snow stops soon. I still have a little in the yard but nothing to shovel for a few weeks now.

I am so impressed w/the women who can get 10k steps in. Today I'm trying to sit for no longer that an hour at a time and use the eclipticle to up my steps to 1k an hour. I'm working from home so I thought I give it a try & see how it goes.

Pip - I try to log first and eat later, but DH wanted Burger King and I wanted coffee. Next time, just coffee (not frappe). I'm glad I was able to exercise and play Candy Crush at the same time. That's good info for me.

Hi all...I've been pretty busy the past few days.

I began Saturday by walking the mall with a couple of friends for about an hour, then off to get final things to bring to friends' for Easter Dinner. Spent the afternoon making carrot cake and organizing home office. Closet cleaning and a bit more exercise in anticipation of Easter eating rounded out the day. Got in over 16K steps.

Sunday I took Jake for a 3 mile walk and then had breakfast with my son, daughter in law and step granddaughter. I struggled trying to figure out what to wear for dinner. I had it in my mind what I would wear, but when I tried stuff on I decided I looked frumpy. I think these clothes were just a bit too big. I finally decided on a dress I haven't worn in years (I haven't worn a dress voluntarily in years) and a cute pair of heels with hose. I felt wonderful and soaked up the compliments of my friends. I got on the elliptical for a bit when I got home to exercise those much enjoyed calories.

I'm trying to figure out what exercise to do when I leave work, elliptical or mall walking. I have a chocolate & wine tasting ladies night on Thursday so I have to get that exercise in once again in anticipation.

The carrot cake was wonderful but my friends insisted I bring it home...not good. I hate throwing away food and I don't want to eat it (it was so delicious), so I decided to invite some friends over tomorrow evening after work for cake and coffee. I will have a sliver and then throw out what is left. I don't need that temptation hanging around.

    Gotta run...
    My best to all!

My son called and said we would have to do the cleaning tomorrow. I said, sorry, I'm not available tomorrow. Now I feel bad. I'll get over it. Hubby is going to take the kids to swim lessons tomorrow. My son said they could just miss a week, but we thought that was not good. Sometimes DS does not think about what's best for those kids. Just himself. Now I really feel like a bad mother, but true is true.

So now I'm going home to worry about tomorrow and Wednesday. I sure hope this test shows them what the problem is. My tummy just never feels right. Every time I eat anything - even soft food - it hurts. I don't think that's supposed to happen.

So, good night everyone. Have a great evening.

    Sylvia
