Did an hour of deep water today. The plan for tomorrow is to do a strength DVD.

Lenora - so sorry to hear of your accident, but glad you are OK. That's what's important. I hope you feel better real fast. I can't see why your husband couldn't get your things out of your car. It's not like it's being used for a murder investigation or anything

Almost forgot to make Vince dinner last night

Couldn't sleep this morning so worked some on the beaded banner. Now I'm waiting for the glue to dry on the next part of the thread.

Went to exercise, then to the Salvation Army to make a donation, then Bi-Lo to get items on sale. Home and took the cover off the pool (yea! Finally) and even used the power washer to clean it. Stirred up the water in the pool and a lot of junk is going into the skimmer, got dinner ready then rolled up the covers. Ceramics tonight, then Lowe's Food

Nikki - weird as this may sound I use the Wii every day (not sure why, probably more out of habit than anything else). At one point I was gaining and it suggested that if I have something to eat late at night, I should have something that is easily digestible like applesauce or tofu. Enjoy your trip!

We're supposed to go to lunch tomorrow with the Newcomers then I go to see an Ear specialist. I think afterward Vince wants to stop at WalMart to see about salt for the pool

NY Nikki - do you have compression stockings that you wear?

Becca - so sorry about dh.

pip - congrats on the test! I think I got something like 8

Anne - I know I push myself harder when I'm at the gym. I think it's the comraderie that helps

On the rushed side today. Hugs to ayone I've missed.

Leonora: I'm sorry you were hurt and hope you're feeling better. :flowerforyou:

Penny: I love the photograph!

    Heather: Happy Anniversary!

Nikki in MA: Get a food scale and/or measuring cups to verify your portions. It is very easy to misjudge how much we are eating. :flowerforyou:

Becca: I'm keeping your DH in my prayers. I hope the patella heal well.

Charleen: Some of us have been here for quite a while. Today is my 1298th day and I'm grateful for every one of them. I was very lucky to find this group. I'm here even though I reached my goal a while back. I know that I need the support to stay focused so that I don't gain it all back again. I've done that in the past. Barbie has been here longer than anyone I know. Welcome to a great group. :flowerforyou:

Pip: I've got the sitting down, but rising is not perfected. :ohwell:

We had a road trip, an overnight in a lovely spot, and saw a very nice RV. We're thinking about making an offer, but need to get some clarification before we decide what to do. We would want to tow a vehicle behind so we could park somewhere and run errands, or buy groceries. We think our lightest car may be too heavy. We're not planning to buy an RV and a car, so we will do the research and see what we learn.

    Hello Friends,
Late to the May thread, but I got behind while travelling, and then had to catch up on 10 days of posts.

Fibromyalgia has been kicking my butt. I still get to the condo gym at 5:30 AM, but it’s not without noticeable pain in my feet, legs, hips and back. It tires me out more, so I sleep more, just to escape. Job is stressor, and I know that’s a factor. My boss confessed she’s interviewing for jobs, and that has been a dagger in my heart. I put my resume forward online on a whim, and tomorrow I have an interview. Mixed emotions. Won't make any decisions either way until I'm back from my holiday in Hawaii. Maybe some R and R will give me clarity and perspective.

Janetr: Belated sympathies to you and yours. DH and I are headed to Oklahoma City tomorrow night for an unplanned trip. Our niece’s son died in his sleep. He was 2 ½. Our entire family is devastated.

Lenora: You’ve been through so much! Glad the accident wasn’t worse.

Joyce: Owwww! Glad you’re finally getting a few bits of solid food.

Heather: Hope your son loves the InstantPot. What an awesome gift.

Charleen: Where in Colorado do you live? I’m southwest of metro Denver, between Red Rocks Ampitheatre and Ken Caryl Ranch. Your quilt is stunning!!!

Stay well, friends. We can do this.

    May Resolutions:

    Eat mindfully.
    Strength train 2x/week
    Beat April step total
    Schedule colonoscopy
Weigh less at the end of the month
Maintain Gratitude Journal (on free app by the same name)
    My word for 2016: Optimism

Rori - Your family is in my thoughts
Becca - Poor DH!!!! that is hard! But he is a tough cookie!

ended up taking a 2 hour afternoon nap - I NEVER do that - but I was exhausted, woke up went to yoga - did what I could without coughing too much, and now working.... I ate a huge lunch - maybe that is why I was sleepy- but it was just what I wanted and am only doing a light snack for dinner so all is well on the logging front.

My hiking group is doing a breakfast walk tomorrow, 3 miles then eat then 3 miles back to our cars, we do this a couple of times a year and it is fun. We walk along an old railroad easement that has been made into a trail and the place we eat is a the old railway station.

Terri was given more responsibility at her job and does not have time to get on line during work hours and with all the running for sports etc. with her son she just doesn't have the time for now. Maybe she'll be back when things settle down.

Heather, she's a smiler, for sure! So love happy babies... :)

Rori, I am so sorry... there are no words for losing a child. My niece lost both her mother and her five-year-old son, Dane, in a fire two years ago, and has thrown herself into helping the community in his name. She is only now beginning to come out of those first numb years, but when I saw her last month, seems to be doing well. She does a "Dane's Shoe Drive" each year now, and used the money from the community gave to the GoFundMe campaign to build "Dane's Playground." It's a hard road back for a parent who's lost a child, and a long one. There are a number of online support groups for people who've lost the little ones.

    Love,
    Lisa

Yesterday was the first half-day at the new job, and much of it will be taking up the reins for things I've known before, just have to be refreshed, like posting the paper online, and prior to that, building the pages for printing. It's a good team, and a happy one, and they seem quite pleased to see someone come in who's not learning from scratch. Even Bob, the guy I'm replacing, said the community was lucky to have an experienced managing editor come in, and he seemed happy to find out he didn't need to teach me every single thing on the computer. He's there, but his mind's on his retirement, and it's hard to blame him for that.

I do hope Bob's actually winking at me and doesn't just have a twitch. Or at least, I think I hope that. Not sure I'm ready to be attractive to the geriatric set. Today is his last day, and after he's departed, I'll be glad to be able to start being the editor instead of editor-in-waiting.

Also have a young reporter who I've known from the other side of the pen and pad, as I'm a business owner in the community, and he and I will work well together, I think. Love the office manager, she has her pooky together.

And I've been friends with my new boss since 2008, met her a month after I arrived in Fort Stockton. We were in a Leadership thing together, a six-month thing the Chamber of Commerce throws that pulls potential and current community leaders together once a month to learn about the city (one day was education, one was medical, one infrastructure, etc.) and caps it with a three-day retreat to learn about each other. One of our cadre ended up as the bank president, Pam has been publisher/exec editor for six years now, I'm a business owner, and now editing again, others have also done well. It was a good group.

Need to get a couple hours in shifting things around in the warehouse. It's going to be an interesting couple weeks!

Here's the online article re: my ascending to the throne, if you just have an itch to read it. :) I also will be writing the editorials each week, still. Should be fun!

    Love y'all,
    Lisa in West Texas

Becca ~ Sorry about DH's knee. That must be very painful.

Roiri ~ Have a good rest. I think you are the one of us who travels a lot for their job. Hopefully, you will snap up another one that is even better.

Lisa ~ Good luck! Your resume is so impressive.

Kim ~ The hike sounds like such fun!

Heather ~ Such a giggly cute baby.

Very cool and windy today. I am planning to have my DIL and her mom over on Sunday after church for a Mother's Day meal. Haven't decided what I will cook. Probably a chuck roast that is in my freezer. BJ's has Fresh Express Parisian Salad that is delicious so I will get that.

Tree trimmers today, gardening and staying home!

Avoiding mexican food places today because they will be crazy wild with the cheap Corona and Dos XX flowing for Cinco de Mayo.

NY Niki – My Honda Accord is a 2015 – I would have ‘thought’ that they would have put in airbags that worked. I’ve already notified Honda about it; and, they gave me a ‘case number’ so I am ‘assuming’ that someone will be coming to see about it. If I don’t hear from them shortly; then, I will call them back and stay on it like a ‘bulldog on somebody’s pants’. Never know about ‘recalls’ … I’m the ‘original’ owner and if they had issues with the air bags in their ‘new’ cars … they will make it right. Both DH and DOS thought it was sort of ‘freaky’ that it did not deploy given the damage on the frontend of the car. The body shop man told Louis that it is ‘rare’ that a car that new would be ‘totaled’. I have not seen pictures of it (other than a front shot, showing how the hood was buckled up. Apparently, I hit more on the front than ‘on the side’. I don’t really remember the collision other than see a bright light when we hit. Never saw the car at all. But, there were 4 cars in the left-turn lane facing me. I should have just let them turn first so I would have had a clear view. I thought I did. The kid I hit was someone that my DOS went to HS with; but, they were not friends, he just remembered him. The car did not belong to him either. Still wondering why he got out of the car and walked off talking on the cell phone around the back of the buildings facing the road. One of the witnesses said it 3 or 4 times … either to the EMT, the Police, or another witness. My right ankle is still hurting really bad; but, I have a follow-up with my GP on Monday and I guess he will probably refer me to an Orthopedist. It hurts to put my weight on it or even turning it slightly. Been using a cane from some other time in my life; but, it is so awkward walking with it.

Janitr – I’m glad I was not hurt more than I was. I want my ‘leg/ankle’ to start feeling better. I am ready to do some exercise; but, can’t put weight on it. So I am really trying not to eat more than my ‘daily caloric intake’ that I was put on, when I first got to this ‘life-style’ plan.

Kim from N. California – I will take care, and not do more than what I can do, without pain.

Oceanmelody – Thanks, I’m glad it was not worse than it was.

Drkatiebug – I hate making left-turns period; I try to make right ones when I can do it without going so far out of my way to do it. I’ve always hated this particular intersection as it is; but, there are several on this side of town that have a lot of accidents happening. Sometimes people run the lights just as it is changing from yellow to red. Thankfully, most of the ones that have a ‘turn signal’ have a delay on them; but, even then I’ve see people blow through red lights when there are people turning left in front of them. Actually, I hate driving in Albany … period.

Becca – My sons think I should just ‘get a tank’ instead of a new car (if they total it). At this point, I just want to give up ‘driving’ period; but, then I would feel like a prisoner in my own home. It’s one thing to have a car sitting in your driveway and not being ‘allowed to drive it’ (on a seizure-related restriction); but to NOT have one and know that ‘if’ I did, I could drive it … is harder. We are not getting a rental car until they tell us what they are going to do with this one, either fix it or total it. Actually, I want them to total it because I do NOT want to end up with a car that constantly gives me trouble.

I’m thinking that something is wrong with my right ankle; it is still swollen (started swelling just after the wreck when the EMTs were checking me out); and, now it ‘hot and angry’. The guy doing the x-rays was so ‘rough’ that I cried out whenever he touched my ankle and tried to get it into weird positions to x-ray it. Gggrrrrr

CJ – We’ve had State Farm for over 40 years. My husband had it a lot longer. The last time I got injured in a wreck, they came through paying everything, too. I just had to get ahead of the hospital submitting bills to Medicare and BC/BS. They finally did so. I’ve got to get an ‘accident report’ and take a copy of it to the hospital’s billing office so they will submit it to State Farm instead.

Anne from Wisconsin – Yeah, I will agree …. Somebody was watching over me.

    Barbiecat – Thanks!

Michele in NC – DH got my ‘stuff’ out of my car yesterday. Now he’s got to take the ‘locking lug nuts’ to the body shop. When he cleaned it out, he cleaned EVERYTHING out of it.

Katla – Thanks. I think as soon as they figure out what is going on with my ankle and do something about it, I’ll start feeling much better. The hospital said it was not ‘broken’; but, I broke in about 20 years ago and had plates and pins in it as well as my heel. I just want to make sure they are still in the right place. I know the Orthopedist will take more x-rays – they’ve always done their ‘own’.

    Rori – Thanks!

    Lenora
