Welcome, Freida, we're so happy to have you join us. Come by often and join in. I have to look up the Keto plan as I'm not familiar with it. Sounds as if you have done well.

Hi Frieda - we are probably neighbors! lol. Maybe one of these days we can get together for some cold cuts. Doing the low carb thing, myself.
Nice to meet you!

Dear Ladies, Well have heard nothing from son or recruiter, so hopefully his "shy bladder" wasn't an issue. Of course, no one TOLD him that someone was going to "watch carefully" when he pee'd in a cup. Plus with him not drinking any water, or anything at breakfast time, (and also peeing after breakfast) on Monday, he just didn't have any... I bet he was so bummed about that. Today should have been very easy, but very boring too. Husband say's they don't do the "swearing in" for just a couple of people, they wait until they have a bunch. Soo, hopefully he gets home soon!
I have noticed with my youngest playing computer so much, having him not home is no different than having him in his room playing. Sad huh. It's knowing he isn't IN there that I am having a hard time with. Plus I yell at him periodically saying, "Oh husband, remember when Owain loved to be around us....remember that??" Then he comes in with his grin and gives hugs all round.
Oh good news! My eldest sister called me up and said middle sister called her saying I'm Sorry! My Mom up in heaven is looking down and smiling so! I told my eldest sister that its baby steps and we just have to not freak out when she DOES call us. I pretend like I have just talked to her, and that helps the shock factor, plus pretty soon I won't have to pretend is my goal. And my sister will be accountable, and accept the love we have for her. I have quite a bit stockpiled ya know!!
Not eating well these days, so tomorrows TOPS meeting will be painful!! I am though sane, happy, dealing, and not down at the local watering hole....soo its all good right?? During the nights I wait up with every sound, especially when husband gets up, so when I do wake up, I am tired from it all. When you have an ill spouse, its like sleeping with a wee baby in the house ....again. When I do sleep its with one eye open...(aye what a mental pic THAT is right??) I am awake enough that I ask him how he is doing. He of course has a response like, "well I am peeing, wanna help me aim it too?? Sheesh... just asking...hahahaha... and that would be a no. He is doing all the maintenance of emptying the bag, logging contents, putting on the water-proof adhesive pads, etc, I give him his space, and try to not be a "helicopter wife" hovering all the time.
((((hugs))))

Thank you all for the warm thots on my broken tooth drama. So "times they are a changin". I discovered great strides have been made in the dental field since getting my last crown. It was relatively painless and easy. She cleaned the remaing tooth halh up, fit the crown the first time, made it up, came back and checked it once more, "baked" it in the oven (that was the only waiting) put it on permanently and sent me home. Numbness is almost gone and its only a little sore and tender.
I did my weight resistance work out before going to the dentist.

Freida from Dallas TX~ Welcome to our little slice of heaven. You can pile all your mental baggage on the white sides of this thread here, I have a BIG broom and just swiffer it away :-) You sound like you have got a great eating plan and its working! Congrats on the 24 lbs loss!! Thats awesome!
This thread is definitely a give and take support. Some times when you feel strong and empowered, you give support. Other times when you need a hand, they give it to you. The great thing is that we aren't our own cheering squad, sharing is caring. So when you lose, you can shout it to the rafters of this thread.
Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, its about learning to dance in the rain.
And I firmly believe it. I also firmly believe that there is bliss in knowing that I can be imperfectly perfect. The world will accept me, and to be frank, there will be no one that puts on my tombstone, "She Got To her Goal Weight, and Can Now Rest In Peace". All I know is that when they interview those ridiculously old people what do they say? "Oh I had a jigger of moonshine at every meal", or "I drank brandy nightly with my cigar" and so really I take all this health stuff with a grain of salt. HAHAHA... I don't over indulge and that's the clincher. I know when I did in the past, I physically regretted it. My body rebelled and its just not worth it.
Welcome again!

Margaret Fairy Garden is charming! And the water lilies are amazingly beautiful. I think the little pink flower earring definitely evokes the water lily.
Miriam I am in awe of your ability to make ends meet...it takes creative thinking and a lot of flexibility. It reminds me of my friend Susan who used to be on the tightest of budgets. She could have written a book on free or nearly free fun things to do with your kids. All of her children's friends wanted to hang out with her & her kids all the time because they had so much fun, totally on a shoestring. At the time, my son qualified for free school lunches. I also qualified for food stamps but I didn't use them, in retrospect I should have, we would have eaten better. Now I don't have money woes and I am grateful. Those days on a tight budget were challenging. I was happy that I had such a creative friend who had great ideas to keep the kids busy and entertained. She was the same one who had her kids volunteer with her on Thanksgiving at a local shelter, serving dinners to those less fortunate. Pretty great role model.
Heather Your observations on the cruisers were sobering. I want to do everything possible to attain optimal health, and I just realized reading your post that there is room for improvement in several areas of my life. This is not a dress rehearsal.
Carol Ugh. That must be uncomfortable evicting your tenant, so sorry you have to do that.
Marcelyn Rotator cuff injuries can be so painful & such a nuisance, hope yours doesn't affect your quality of life too much.
Pip Maybe you could give your hip 2 or 3 days of rest (unthinkable)
Barbie Thanks so much for the links. Hope they are Mac compatible, I shall find out!
Charleen As Re would say, if I put a smile on just one of your faces today, my job here is done.

Hello ladies: Not getting much done today, had a really busy day yesterday. Hay is delivered and stacked in the barn, dog houses, etc. packed in back of pickup to take to shelter. No new barn cats yet. Barncats 'r' Us had only one and we really want two. Trying to keep the slugs out of our planters. I didn't know anything would eat marigolds but slugs apparently love them. They have completely chowed down about half of what we planted, flowers and leaves. They have also been at our green beans. Ugly critters!!!
Welcome to those who are new. Keep coming back.
Lisa - Good luck with all the changes.
Pip - Hope the hip feels better soon. Glad you already met your goal.
Rita - Welcome back and take care.
Margaret - Lovely pictures.
Heather - Glad you had a good time, love the pictures!
Healing angels to all who need them and congratulations to those with victories. Sue in WA

U joined by posting! Welcome, oh and there's a nominal fee of $50 bucks that u can send to me at the beginning of each month! Haha. Lmao!!!! Just kidding1 -
Re, one more thing you and I have in common is a willingness to eat the same group of meals over and over and a husband who is a good sport about eating what is fixed for him.
Freida, it's great that you started posting with us....I have been posting on this thread for a few and so have some others and we've found that being connected with other women on the same journey has kept us on track. I learned a long time ago that the best food plan is the one you'll stick to. There are many good food plans for health and weight loss and finding the one that works is the key.
Becca, it's hard not being the helicopter wife with a husband with scary medical issues
Jennifrclaire, we are happy to have you join us....we range in age from 49 to 70+ and are all on this journey together
This has been a productive day that included weight training...I increased a few weights..some puttering in the garden....and some dance practice

Just completed an Under-the-Sea/Beach themed monthly block crochet project.
In between signing papers with the realtor, walking around our home following the photographer removing/moving/replacing items for the pictures, getting my haircut, shopping at the Target Dollar Spot for papercrafting items and taking the dog to get her nails trimmed.
Had to finish it up before storing away (insert sad face) my yarn for house showings.
Hope everyone had a good day!

Did Classic Firm Low Impact Aerobics DVD. Tomorrow we have a Board meeting of the Newcomers so the plan is to do a Violet Zaki Weight Loss Cardio Sculpt DVD.
Karen in VA - is that your garden? So lovely.
Cheri - the first time we took Bonnie and Clyde down to the condo (10 hr drive) they both needed to have a sedative. We didn't give it to Clyde when we came back last time and he did OK. Bonnie still gets very anxious. How nice of you to leave those houseplants for the new owners!
Mary - like you need Dawn!
barbie - I'm with you. I seem to be thinking more and more "what do I want for dessert -- cherries, kiwi, apples". Cakes and pies and cookies just don't appeal to me for a dessert. Now I will have SOME, but how much has really decreased. The sad part is that when you go out to eat (either at a pot luck or a restaurant), most of the food is "yukky". Yes, I always ask for my food to be prepared the way I'd like it, but you can't do that at a potluck. So many times I wind up eating something before going there just so that I'm not starving. Then I just pick. It's already been mentioned to me when we go to Mexican Train how I don't take a dinner plate but I take a dessert plate. Well, that's mainly because I've had dinner beforehand
katla - so sorry about dd's BIL
Mrgaret - you are so talented! Those water lilies brought back memories, thanks
Carol in NC - is that how Elon got the name Elon Phoenix? I always wondered.
Frieda - welcome! You're not boring at all.
Becca - how wonderful that your sister called you! I'm ecstatic for you
jennifer - welcome! Just jump right in, the water's fine. I see you met pip - our local resident cut-up.....:)
exercised then cut weeds. thank goodness we have the empty lot next to ours where we can just dump those sorts of things. Vince said that he thinks the snake is living there, and I want to make his home as inhospitable as possible. The bad part is that right now we're cleaning this one area that is nothing but sticker bushes -- wild rose bushes, wild raspberry, and just plain sticker bushes. You should see my legs and arms! Vince wears pants but I would get too hot so I wear my shorts. Worked for about 3 hours then attempted to clean the pool. See, when we had the algae earlier, it left a stain on the fiberglass. Well, ascorbic acid does take it off. However, most of the discoloration is in the deep end and I have yet to figure out a good way to clean the sides of the pool. I tried cleaning it just as far as I can reach down and you can certainly tell where it's been cleaned and where it hasn't.
Vince then went to the bowling alley to get a printout of the stats for the year for Newcomers bowling. They were supposed to have them printed out, but, of course, they didn't. Fortunately the guy working there just ran them off.
Had dinner, now on here. I lead an exciting life, don't I? We have a Newcomer board meeting tomorrow.

Hi @vpalmieri66 you found the right forum. I am Karen in Virginia & I just learned how to post animated emoticons so I am a small child on Christmas morning right now.
What would you like us to call you? We will make it so that help is easiest thing ever. We have your back. Don't be reticent, I felt a bit gunshy at first but look at me now...
Cheri Lovely crocheting. I believe I might have to take up a craft.
Michele No, not my garden except in my dreams. I am going to make the brownies tonight, I have an idea about them. Will get back to you once I have made them. Hope you didn't spend too much money on a flop.

Grits the story about washing your hair and bathing with Dawn was a joke - not meant to be taken seriously. I'm sorry that I confused the issue by bringing up my friend's friend's crazy diet. My point was supposed to have been that the diet center's recommendation was just as ridiculous, not that I thought anybody was seriously considering using Dawn as shampoo/body wash.4

You can can me Vickey and thanks so much...I really can use the support!! Motivation!! Friends!!
