THURSDAY
Good morning,
Learned how to make a mini snowflake for tree coworkers put up in our little area. Made 3 and then hand gave out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqAuxhNcqoQ
Lets discuss the chocolate doughnut I allowed myself last night- it is waiting for me for breakfast. Day old doughnuts are just as good and I can make sure to walk more today. Just is.

Good morning Sara~~
Waves to all.
I have to turn my wagon around. I am unfocused and unmotivated.
Today is a travel day - flying back to NC. The temperature down there is 25 degrees. Jeeeeeez! I thought North Carolina was part of The South. Brrrr....

DH is in deep funk. Has been for about a week now. Haven't seen him like this since his return from deployment. Not sure what to do for him. Trying to be supportive but firm in insisting he call the doctor. (He still hasn't) Feel like I am being dragged down with him and I don't like that.
On brighter note: scales show I am down another pound! These last 10 pounds are proving more stubborn than any of the others.

Happy Thursday all!
Busy, busy, busy.
Work, buying Christmas gifts, and husband out of town.
Went for a nice long walk after work and have been eating pretty well.
Going to keep dinner easy tonight and make sure I stay at my calories.
Lunch ending but wanted to drop by and say hi!1 -

Hugs to you, depressed and down hubby's are so hard to deal with. I have one that suffers yearly from SAD, he has never been diagnosed because he hasn't been to a doctor since he had his finger amputated and refuses to go.1 -
Hello all!
Hickchick - Sorry to hear....depression, PTSD, all of that is sooo tough. I agree supportive but firm. Have to get the potential med combination correct.
Tillies mom - LOVE the snowflakes. Having a bunch of those on a tree would be adorable!

Kathryn - You said that you feel like you are being dragged down with him. Good that you are aware. How can we help YOU?
I want to lend support to you and send good vibes your way.
I am inferring that DH has suffered from depression/ptsd in the past and his doctor is already familiar with this sort of thing with DH, yes? If yes, you call his doctor and ask for help, I think.
My DH has different psychiatric needs, so I understand from being in the same ocean, but different boat.
Keep us posted.

Lynn is right: getting the correct meds combination is right.

So, I wasn't going to say anything. But, it's really got me down. I stepped on the scale and saw the highest number I've ever seen. Now, I will admit, I have had a lot of salt, bread and chocolate. Mostly, because it's quick and easy. Also, because of PMS. I've really been off my water. I'm trying to drink it... just not getting it in. It's winter, and the worst time for me, just like a lot of people. I know my depression is really kicking in. I'm so incredibly overwhelmed by this fundraiser and will be glad when it's over. What was I thinking? After the weekend, I'm going to try to pay more attention to what I put in my mouth. Finances are tight and trying to buy reasonably priced, somewhat good food. Just not working...

FRIDAY
Good morning,
Up a little early and said "ah heck".
I was thinking about this last night -
SAD - seasonal affective disorder - consider using three things bright colors (flowers/christmas lights) and citrus whether it is a candle/scentsy/soap - pledge has lemon scent!! - or eating more citric fruit. Dont think that these things are just for Spring Summer and that we have to live with dark colors. Third wear a bright colored shirt/scarf/ earrings something to perk up your wardrobe. Studies have shown that brighter colors helps our mood.
Staring at an index card that is one of those neon colors for 10 minutes a day!
Dawn - we are in our "cave" season. Reread what you wrote. Your reasons are there. Your fundraiser will be done and you can think of your next move towards health.
Seems the serious chatters at work all get new work files (harder ones). You would think they would see the connection, but all they know how to do is complain like a nest of baby birds. I am staying under my rock. I did email the director of our department to see if we can get a program started to promote walking steps and getting in better health.
Wave to all who follow. Lurking on this wonderful TGIF Friday.

TGIF
Tilliesmom- thanks for that! Great ideas! It is so easy to hibernate, especially when feeling down. Then the cycles begin - I feel bad, I eat, I feel worse, so wth eat some more. UGH! Keep the spirits bright! Great mantra right now.
Dawn, Kathryn and all others - I also agree with the "how can we help?" sentiment.
To all - a crisp Friday AM walk allowed me to start my day with a great "sunrisey" smile.
If you look real close you will see my Maggie - my motivator to get up that darn early and brave single digit temps (:2 -

*cabana boys I need some distraction - what's on for tonight at Lana's Palm Tree?1 -
after glow time - I ate the last 2 brownies I had hiding in the freezer. 10.000 steps probably wont cancel out the calories but boy were they good. Had a nice cup of ginger herb tea with my chocolate, so kitchen is closed for the night.
Dog groomer has a large bag of yarn from friend who was cleaning out parents house and didnt know what to do with the yarn. It has been awhile since I have had to buy yarn for the donating projects I make, for which I am very grateful.

Went to a fantastic event last night. Buffet dinner was prime rib, herb crusted spinach stuffed chicken, roasted asparagus and tomatoes, pear and pomegranate salad, Yukon and sweet potato au gratin, rolls. I had prime rib, asparagus and salad. The had three dessert choices, but I declined.
After that, we walked to the auditorium, climbed stairs, and were enthralled by very talented college students performing music prior to an amazing evening listening to Scott Hamilton. He discussed his journey to the Olympics and through his two battles with cancer. Such a wonderful night spent with my SO, my parents, and a couple of dear friends who coincidentally had tickets.2 -
Good morning All~~
Tracy - your event last night sounds just great - and you did well too! Good for you!
Sara - I must say that it seems as if there is never a dull moment at your workplace.
I want to try "closing" my kitchen at night, but I must figure out when to eat my dinner so that I don't feel hungry at 10PM.
With it being winter now, it gets dark so early that my elderly tendency to eat dinner at 4 or 4:30PM seems right. But then there's a whole 6 hours before I go to sleep at 11PM.
This is what I will be working on for a while. Also working on avoiding alcohol, bread, and chocolate chips (my standard form of sweets).
There is a big snowstorm coming my way. I must get outside now and get a long walk in.

Hey All~~
I want to tell you about a goal I have in mind for myself. I want to simply journal my food.
I will call my goal Hand-Written Journaling.
I cannot seem to actually track/log my food, because looking up the points/calories and then entering them on the phone app or the computer is just too much for me to do ALL day long, every day.
Days start out OK and then night falls, and I end up overeating, and I never enter that "giving up" and feeding my face/stop caring for the day. Then I feel crappy.....etc etc.
So, my Serial Starting goal for this week will be simply writing in my paper journal whatever I eat. No looking up anything; no counting. No crying because I can't find the item or the scanner won't read the barcode blah, blah, blah.....
So for a week, I will include this with my daily weighing and reporting here. My hope is that a simpler approach will be do-able.
Thanks for reading ladies~~
*crossing fingers*

I have actually made it 5 days on plan, which (sadly) is the longest I have gone in a while. I usually stop after day 2 or 3. Now to get through the dreaded weekend.

Just got back.
I had to make my dog's groomer promise to not take any more yarn for another year unless it is beautiful.....There may even be enough to make matching scarf/hat for chemo patients - and see if I can get coworker to deliver them to the cancer center for me. Stuff from the 1970's and needles, groomer asked if I wanted them. I have been gifting yarn and needles so I took it all (except for one skein we saw that looked like fiberglass.... we both went ?????).
Lana - Our last poster needs a nicer UserName. Lets see if she can find one for herself. I am finding hot tea after dinner helps some of the after dinner cravings.
Whata = good for you for making it 5 days - how can we help stretch that record?
Lunch is ready catch you later.1 -
Hi everyone!!
I am so confused and just ready to stop trying to figure it out. Three weeks ago, I exercised like a fiend for 5 days of the week (from weigh-in to weigh-in). I ate under calories for several days and sometimes ate half my allotment MFP gives (2550 calories/day)... and I gained weight. I was livid. Two weeks ago, I just ate what I wanted trying to stay under, but not worrying about it too much if I did not meet goal, and I didn't do any focused exercise. My weigh-in was down about 0.5 lbs. This last week, I did no focused exercise and merely ate about half my daily allotment of calories. I fought against the feeling of starvation and the massively strong desire to binge because of it. And from last week's weigh-in to today... I dropped 9.8 lbs. I am so confused. I think it is time to get it through my head that there is no magical formula. I just need to focus on trying to stop emotional eating and improving the amount of movement that I do in order to get my body into the habit of being healthier.
I hope that it sinks in and I can remember this "Ah-Hah" moment.
Hope everyone is well. I checked out a couple books to avoid the Christmas movie marathon on the weekends. I only get 5 channels with my antenna so I am limited to what I can watch at home. I have to come to the library to watch shows on network internet sites.

SUNDAY
Good morning,
Groceries and cooking today. Chicken with Broccoli and rice - cant think of anything else.
Good walking weather so will take advantage.
Seems they are replacing toilets (of all things - probably low water usage) luckily on the day I have off. I just have to make sure Miss T is in her travel case when I go to my appointments because they cannot give me a set window of time.....
