cbabie are you tracking and exercising? Now that you aren't running late, go do the little assignment I gave you.
trooworld Like cbabie you said regarding pizza, I can't have just one slice. Change the words I can't to It's hard to......then at the end of your sentence add but I will find a way. Yes I mean, type it out on here Good for you for walking with your sil.

Hi all! Just when I thought I was doing well, I didn't do so well when I went out for "brunch" yesterday. Well, I had a seafood salad and that was fairly healthy, but then it was at that point that things went downhill. We stopped for dessert and I got a piece of tiramisu cake which was HUGE and I ate it. Then, for dinner, I ate a bit of macaroni and cheese. Grrrr why do I do this to myself??? Oh well, what's done is done. I can only do better next time. Next time, I'd split the piece with my hubby.
@theslightedgeforever It's hard to have just one slice but I will find a way. Man, that was hard to type! lol Really... Thanks for the highlights! Congrats on your weightloss!!! Great loss. You are doing awesome!0 -
trooworld Was this one of your fun meals? What's helping me is to pretrack my dessert when I know I'm going out. That way the calories are already in the "bank". Then you choose to eat or not it depending on you and the other thing is to just make a habit of saying yes to dessert but only half so it becomes a habit in your mind. Then immediately upon receiving it, you cut it in half and remove the other half to a napkin or someone else's plate away from you. It is a hard exercise (pizza) I had to do it with a list of things. It was a real eye opener for my mind. We will wait for cbabie to go to step 2 on the I can't exercise.
cbabie I hope you aren't sick.

Hello all. Now that the weekend is over it's back to healthy eating for the most part. Tonight, we are going out for tacos and beers with a group of people but I should be able to pick out some fairly healthy tacos. I just need to stay away from the sides. Friday and Saturday will be a challenge: Friday, we are celebrating September birthdays (including mine!) at work, so there will be food. Saturday, we are making food and having guests. My plan is to have a limited amount of food on Friday, very small amount, and for Saturday: I will consider that one of my four fun meals of the week next week.
@theslightedgeforever I think I went over on my fun meals, but I lost count. I need a way to keep track of my fun meals besides looking back through my tracker. I will try just marking them down on a note sheet on my phone. This weekend just got out of control. I don't think I will ever be able to go on to step 2...lol. Pizza is hard. I just accept the damage it does.
@cbabie I'm sorry you have been sick, I hope you feel better soon. Thanks, yes, I'm sure we are making baby steps along the way!0 -
cbabie There I copied it for you. while you are avoiding ice cream, rewrite this sentence for me. You said, I can't eat only one cup of ice cream, I need two. Change the words I can't to It's hard to......then at the end of your sentence add but I will find a way. Yes I mean, type it out on here. Diabetes is not a choice. I hope you are feeling better.
trooworld You will still be able to eat pizza without damage. Just learning some skills to use You'll get there. When you say very small amount on Friday how many calories are you going to eat? It's a numbers game we play. Just like our bank accounts. If we eat more calories than is in our calorie account, we get fat and get diseases. If we spend more money than we have in our bank account, we get overdrawn and pay fees or we start charging and pay more money in interest Eventually it may lead us to bankruptcy. Bankrupting our health is not a good idea. Especially with healthcare costs, insurance premiums, etc. Are you tracking your food each day and staying within your calories?

Hi all! Well, taco Tuesday went well last night: I had 3 street tacos which are mini tacos with no cheese...they are basically small tacos on corn tortillas with meat and salsa. I had one shrimp, one chicken, and one shredded beef. And I had one beer. So score for me!
@theslightedgeforever I am not tracking everything...well, I am in a way: for instance, this past weekend, I stopped tracking in MFP on Friday until Monday, BUT I did write down everything I ate in my Vida app all weekend for my coach. So I tracked in a sense. Last week, I tracked every single day. I'm spotty. This week, I will work on tracking every single day. As for how many calories am I going to eat on Friday, I don't know. I know what I plan on eating, I don't know how many calories that will be. I plan on eating 2 bacon wrapped brown sugar smokies, 1/2 piece of pumpkin pie, and I don't know what the 3rd birthday person is bringing but I will probably have a little bit of what she's bringing. I will pre-track those items on Friday morning. I will ask her today what she is bringing on Friday.0 -
trooworld Great choices on the tacos. I'm still trying to get myself to learn to like corn tortillas. I know they are better for me.

Hello all. We really have to do our best to cook for the week on the weekends, either that or have the stuff to make pita pizzas on hand. We ended up ordering Thai food delivered last night! Hubby tricked me...on the way home, he said he would make these vegetarian ribs for dinner so we stopped at the store and got the things for them. Then we got home and he decided he didn't feel like cooking and of course, neither did I and we didn't have the stuff on hand for anything simple. Grrrrr! From now on, I will make sure we have pitas in the house for pita pizzas.
@theslightedgeforever thanks, yes, I like flour better most of the time too. This may sound like a dumb question, but I have to ask just in case you don't: do you heat up the corn tortillas when you use them? Because that makes a world of difference.0 -
Hello guys..
I have been missing in action..i have been in bed most of the week. It started Sunday during church with a scratchy throat and yesterday....major heasache....i am really rired of the headaches I have been having...Rigjr now no headache..eyes are a little tired and hurt a little, but I will take that.
@trooworld great job in ghe tacos... I made your meatless tacos all that my grandson like then he said they needed meat so I had to cook up hamburger for him and add to it but we all like them thank you for sharing..
@theslightedgeforever you are doing great.. love the bank comparison.. lol

Morning,
I am feeling better today, but know my anxiety levels are up and need to work on those. 3 months without a job is starting to give me anxiety. I seriously have to start putting myself out there again. I was reading in my school book, psychology through eyes of faith...it was talking about weight loss...why we gain it back, why it's hard to lose, why we are born thin or thick..lol. Very interesting. The one thing I got out of it is to accept the way I am built, but totally work on health . We can't change our bone structure, or build, but we can control our health. My health hasn't been good this week, which always makes me look at my stress levels....that is usually when I get sick..
Hope all is well in the world you are living in today.
Cbabie0 -
trooworld On the corn tortillas. No but it's the taste I don't like. I've had that happen too. Hubby changing my plans. Now I just work around him.
cbabie Your grandson sounds like my father. My son is living back home now and I don't think he would like those either. As I told him today, there's the kitchen. I found a recipe for black bean and sweet potato quesadillas. I need to get back planning some new recipes.

Hi all! Sorry I've been MIA, I've been leaving for work at 5:30am and not had time to check in. Today, we are celebrating my 49th birthday. We are making food: a meat/cheese board, a nice salad, and these puff pastry tarts with tomatoes and cheese on them. My sister in law is bringing Asian meatballs and something else, and we are making a 4 layer confetti cake and white sangria. It's a fun food day, so I'm not going to worry too much about the calories of what I eat, I'm going to try to just enjoy it. Have a great day everyone!
@cbabie I am on a medication for the headaches: topamax. I have a lot fewer migraines because of the medication. You might think about getting on it. LOL...your grandson! That is funny. I'm glad you liked them though. Anxiety certainly doesn't help with the headaches. I hope you feel better soon.
@theslightedgeforever I have a recipe for black bean and sweet potato enchiladas and black bean and sweet potato burritos. Both are really good. It's fun to try new recipes. I try new recipes all the time.0 -
cbabie When you used to be fat and got on WW originally and got to lifetime, how did you do it? You still haven't done my little exercise yet. Trooworld and I are still waiting. Here's the recipe https://wellplated.com/sweet-potato-black-bean-quesadillas/
trooworld Happy Birthday At least track your food. How long have you been with your Vida coach?

Hi all!
@theslightedgeforever , the quesadilla recipe looks selfish! I made just plain black bean quesadillas the other day which ere good, but I can totally see how the sweet potato would give it a really nice dimension.
@trooworld Happy Birthday! Hope you had a blast!
As for me, I'm making progress... 0.4lbs from goal -- yay!!! I'm loving the transformation -- not only of my body but also my life. In addition to all of the good habits I've gained (eating right, exercise, water) and bad habits I lost (processed junk food, Diet Coke), I'm also decluttering my apartment, am getting to church more regularly and just generally have been happier. I'm thinking I might actually lose a few extra pounds -- still keeping in the healthy range -- just as a bit of a buffer. The real task is going to be keeping this new transformation alive -- eg, tracking for the rest of my life. While I'm sure some may drop that when they're in maintenance, I'm thinking it's the key thing that keeps me accountable . So, I'm going to have to accept that ALL of my new behaviors (including tracking) will be forever... fingers crossed I can keep this up!1 -
Hi all! Well, my birthday party of 4 turned into a birthday party of 3 when my brother-in-law decided to go over to his friend's house instead. He's developmentally disabled (he's got the intellectual mind of about a 16 year old), so doesn't always get that you should cancel at the last minute to go to someone else's house to hang out, especially when it's your relative's birthday lol. My feelings were a bit hurt but oh well. That's okay, it's just I spent a lot of money on a bunch of food and we had a lot of leftovers. Food was great, cake turned out cute (it was a funfetti cake hubby made) and we just watched a tv show and drank white sangria. I will insert a pic of the cake.
@theslightedgeforever thanks! I didn't end up tracking my food...I just wanted to enjoy myself and not think about it for one day. I've been with my Vida coach since April.
@achagpar thank you, I did have a blast! Woooooooow...you are so close! You will get there soon, I know it. Good for you for making all those healthy changes inside and out!

I made goal this am! Actually 1.6 lbs below goal... I could hardly believe the scale! We'll see if it was just a blip tomorrow am but hopefully the new weight sticks to the scale just like the old weight and all of the plateaus did...
PS @trooworld -- totally cute cake! So glad you had a good time!0 -
achagpar I like black beans and corn together, we'll see if I like the combo of sweet potato and black beans. I agree with you Tracking will be in my life forever along with preplanning my meals for the day. Woohoo on meeting goal What an achievement.
trooworld Love the cake what a cute idea. How much weight have you lost since joining your Vida coach. Has it been worth the money you spend?

Hi all. I hope you are having a good day. I balanced out my birthday celebration yesterday with a light vegetarian portobello pot roast dinner last night. I pretracked today's meals so I'm all set for success today.
@theslightedgeforever I have lost 5.6 lbs since I've been with my Vida coach. I have been with my Vida coach since April. If I were going by how much weight I was losing, I would say no. But I'm not going by that. I am going by things I am learning, habits I am changing, and so I am not ready to give up yet. If I wasn't using a health coach, Vida or otherwise, I would probably be gaining weight right now instead of being at the same weight. I consider that a "win". I'm sure some people might think it's a waste of money, but I don't. I paid for WW for years without learning too much, so I might as well give this a shot. Congrats on your weight loss.0 -
trooworld What you think is the only opinion that counts. Good for you for balancing out your birthday celebration.

Thanks all for the congrats! The good news is it wasn't a blip! My weight stayed at below goal! I think I'm going to just continue in my new lifestyle forever... it can get a bit cumbersome tracking every bite but I've done it for the past 5 months, what's a few (hundred) more? I'll continue to check in to let you know how I'm doing -- hopefully I won't fall off the bandwagon -- and to see how all of you are doing. How much more to goal for all of you? It's a slow process (25 lbs in 5 months for me), and sometimes feels like being stuck in frozen molasses but it sure does pay off in the long run! Have a great day everyone!0

Hi all! Today is my official birthday, I turn 49 years young today. I'm either going to celebrate by going out for 1 beer with the hubby tonight after work, or I'm going to save it for the weekend when we will go to see a documentary on the New York Public Library. Yesterday went really well. I was over in my carbs, but under in my cals. I went to the gym and did 27 minutes on the recumbent bike. It was a bit of a stressful day at work, so I was kind of glad to get to the gym and ride the bike. This picture reminds me of my own journey, maybe it reminds you of yours too:
@theslightedgeforever yes, you are right. It's my money and if I want to spend my money like this, I can, at least I can for now. I've always been resistant to losing, no matter what program I am on. That's totally my fault...it's due to I get in my own way. I pay for all the right tools (the Vida coach, the gym membership, the healthy food), but I get in my own way, I don't do things perfectly...I track about 75% of the time. I go to the gym about 3 days a week. I sometimes eat and drink things that other people would probably not eat or drink while trying to lose weight. You know what? That's okay. I'll get to goal when I get there. I'm not in a race. It may not be fast but I'll get there. I'm slowly tweaking my habits and making progress. I quit WW due to lack of progress/wasting money. I was hearing the same meeting topics over and over again. But I'm learning things I didn't learn on WW now.
@achagpar that's great! That's right--- I've always heard you just need to do what you did to get to goal in your maintenance. For me, I have 9.9 lbs to my first goal (I have broken my weight loss into smaller goals).

Morning:
I have been hiding out....someone who shall remain nameless wasn't happy, but it was necessary. I have been looking inward and outward. One day at a time and one plan at a time. I want this to be easier than it has been, but that won't get me to goal. Some people look at me and say you don't need to lose weight, you are good. I am below my goal at WW that I made lifetime with a few years back. I have not ever went over that, thank fully. However, I lost 30 lbs through a life change and people worried about me. Even WW said if I didn't stop losing weight, they would only let me come with a Dr's note. That being said, I think it's important for me to let you all know my weight goal. I will be accountable like I was at WW. I currently and 20 lbs from where in my head I would like to be. That may be too thin and non healthy, but I felt good in my clothes and in my skin. I also know that I looked older and that is NOT my intent. So that being said....today I said I would like to hit the 10 lbs goal and see how I feel then. If I feel good and look healthy, no need to go below. So how can I lose the 10 lbs? 1 lb at a time...so this week 1 lb is my goal.
@achagpar yea for you!!! it's a great feeling to make and meet a goal. But to exceed is really great. I found that in trying to maintain, I was still losing for a few weeks, but then it leveled out.
@theslightedgeforever thank you for all your post, you are doing great with your consistency.
@trooworld yes, this is your choice and it's your journey, make it the best for you!

Hi all! Well, I got a little depressed on my birthday towards the end of the night. My sister-in-law and mother-in-law didn't call until about 7pm and I think my husband prompted them to call. My Dad didn't call at all. All of this kind of got me down. But up until about 3pm, I had a good day.
@cbabie 10 lbs is a good, reasonable goal. And 1 lb at a time is a great way to reach it. You can do this!0 -
@trooworld I am sorry for the birthday people, we call family..LOL I had the same thing one year. My birthday is on a holiday and I ALWAYS have gotten birthday greetings etc...on my 30th birthday no one called except my mother...my daughters bought black balloons and hung them around the house...it was not a GOOD year. LOl Just know we all thought of you and were hoping and wishing you a great day!!!
Cbabie0 -
achagpar That's great that it wasn't a blip. Just keep doing what got you to goal and you'll stay there. I have about 50 left to lose.
trooworld Happy Birthday. Great picture.
cbabie I'm confident you can make your goal just like last time.
