Hi all. Well, I'm stressed about something regarding work...I was glad to get to the gym last night and ride the recumbent bike for a bit. Hoping to get there again tonight. Food was good yesterday although my portion of soup at lunch was less than mindful, I have to watch that.
@cbabie thank you! That does sound like a bad birthday year lol.
@theslightedgeforever thanks!

Afternoon,
I am running late, have to go pick up my granddaughter from work and take her to her second job...uhm. I tracked yesterday, was a little over, but not much. I have tracked today and not sure what my meal plan looks like the rest of the day..my schedule is mostly driving or waiting until 8:30 tonight...UGH.
@trooworld sorry you had a bad day at work, what I am learning is we can have a bad day at home or at work..I just need to learn how to handle without food being my crutch. LOL
@theslightedgeforever why no exercise? great job on tracking and water.

Hi all. Today, I'm at a conference all day and the food is provided. For lunch, it is a sandwich with chips and fruit and a cookie. There is also breakfast and a snack, I'm not sure what that is I will probably eat my own breakfast at home before I go. Yesterday was less stressful at work but it was still stressful. I didn't eat that free food so that was an NSV (see below comment).
@cbabie thanks. Yeah, it's easy to turn to food to relieve stress and I almost did...there was homemade pumpkin bread and chocolate chip cookies in the break room, but I didn't have any of either! Yay! Good for you for tracking.1 -
Morning all:
Wow I started this early this morning and never got back on here.
I am sorry I was missing all day. I did okay, tracked and was over a little. But that's not the plan...but tracking is good..LOL
@trooworld Glad for your NSV...I hope you enjoyed your conference. I usually love those kind of things.
Okay, have to go pick up grand daughter from work.
Hope your Friday was great.

Hi all! Today is going to be busy. I'm going to go to the park and go for a long walk, then go get healthy groceries. Later, I will make pupusas (they are kind of an El Salvadorean stuffed tortilla...mine will be stuffed with beans and vegan cheese) and then at 5:00 p.m., I will be going to see a 3 hour documentary on the New York Public Library! 3 hours! (Actually, it's 3 hours 15 minutes lol) I'm waiting to hear if one of my coworkers is coming with me. If he doesn't, then my dear hubby is going to go with me. He said, "a 3 hour documentary about a public library? Why does it have to be 3 hours?" hahaha I had no idea it was 3 hours when I bought the tickets but I still want to see it. Today is also the street fair a few blocks away from my house and I'd love to go to that: it's 5 stages of free music. So, we'll see how much of all of this I get done. Last night, we made jackfruit tacos which were really good and healthy. Have a great day everyone!
@cbabie I did enjoy my conference...got some great ideas to use to market our library and I left feeling recharged and refreshed. Tracking is excellent...I'm glad you tracked.

Hi all!
So I went on a business trip -- sat all day, ate WAY too much (yup I logged it but I still stuffed myself) -- got back and... no surprise, I'm back up. 0.4 lbs over goal. The good news is I know I can lose it again.... the bad news is, (1) it always takes me way longer to lose the weight than put it on (I know people on these forums say "you didn't gain it overnight, you won't lose it overnight", but I seriously gained it over 2 days and it will likely take me 2 weeks to lose it), and (2) I've got another business trip this week! Aaarrrggghhhh!!!! I did try to pack healthy snacks and get a workout in at the hotel, but it's not the same as my routine at home where I do a lot more walking, get classes in at the gym (way bigger calorie burn) and am much more cautious about what goes in my mouth.... any advice? Or is this one of those, ya just gotta pick yourself up and get back on track things? @trooworld you seem to have done really well at your conference. I was doing ok at breakfast and lunch and even at the breaks with snacks, but took a huge blow when they take you out for a fancy (aka mega calorie) dinner and even though I tried to be careful in ordering (eg dressing on the side), it was super hard (actually impossible) to stay within my calorie allotment. I suppose the other piece of good news is I'm still within 0.4 lbs of goal. It could've been a lot worse! Ok, today's a new day. Time to get back on track.... we've got this. Maybe I'll even try to lose another 5-10 lbs so I have a bit of a cushion... we'll see.
Have a great day everyone!1 -
Hi all! Well, I got most of what I wanted to accomplish done but we didn't go see the library documentary--- about an hour before showtime, my hubby begged out of it saying he didn't want to go anywhere. So, we'll rent it when it comes out on streaming. I started the day by going for a nice walk in the park, then went to the store for groceries. Cooked the Salvadorean food and it came out delicious. We didn't get to the street fair though, maybe we'll get there today, I don't know. I really want to cook my meals for the week.
@achagpar my advice is to drink a lot of water...it's likely that some of that is just water retention from restaurant/catered food. When I go on business trips, I just try to do the best I can and track everything and drink a lot of water. At least your hotel has a gym--- take advantage of that. Yes, I did pretty well at the conference, it was just one day though thankfully. I have a convention coming up in February that will be a challenge. I think you can flush that 0.4 out with a lot of water and some time.0 -
trooworld Good for you for getting to the gym and not eating the goodies at work. I love street fairs.
cbabie Good for you for tracking. I only exercised 3 times last week. My body was tired and couldn't get my mind to do it.
achagpar Pick a range in your mind for goal. For instance 1 lb over and two lbs under. Women's bodies naturally fluctuate. Eating out, travelling, etc will also throw on some sodium bloat. I'm holding alot of water right now. Then each week you try and keep your numbers in that range. Your pants won't stop fitting because of 0.4 gain. Your health is not going to be endangered. It's just another number on the scale. How is your bodyfat %? I have been successful with a weekly calorie allotment. Last week I went over on one day but still was under my calories for the week.

Hi all. I did a lot of cooking yesterday for the week although I didn't get it all done. At least I got my breakfasts cooked + 3 meals. I can cook the other meal tonight since traffic SHOULD be light. Hubby decided he wanted to eat keto style this week and I didn't want to do that, he's on his own. So, he cooked up a tray of chicken breasts + will have green beans all week and I'll have a variety of vegetarian foods that fit into my macros. I didn't want do eat his style because I didn't want to eat the same thing all week, plus we need to save money on food costs so that is why I stopped buying so much meat.
@theslightedgeforever I love street fairs too, I was disappointed that we didn't make it to this one, it only happens once a year and is a very large one. It sounds like your body needed a rest. Sorry about the gain...you did say you are retaining water. I hope it comes off next week. I gained, too.

trooworld That's good you got a lot of cooking done. Pre-planning is the key. I hope it's water. lol

Hi all! Just a quick check-in. Yesterday was good as far as I was under my calories but I was over my carbs. Oh well, the most important thing is that I was under my cals IMHO. I have a long day at work today: 6:30-4:30 so I've got to get to it. Talk to you later!
@theslightedgeforever yes, pre-planning definitely helps me, I have the most success when I 1) pre-track 2) cook for the week on Sundays 3) meal plan on Fridays for the week. I hope it's water (both of our gains).

trooworld Yaaay on being under calories. I only track my carbs because of prediabetes.
Daily check in food exercise none water 8 glasses0 -
Hi all! Once again yesterday, was under on cals but over on carbs. But I am eating good, healthy carbs like brown rice so I'm not very concerned. Today is day 2 of making up time missed from work, so I work 6:30-4:30. I will be very tired at the end of the day but glad I did it. I could just use vacation time, but I would like to save that for fun days.
@theslightedgeforever my doctor wants me to stay under 150 g of carbs a day not because of prediabetes but because he believes that will help me lose the weight.

hey gals I'm sitting in a car waiting dropping grand daughter off. I guess I should say to work. I wanted to touch base before I get back on the freeway sorry I haven't been online..doing a lot of decluttering in my house. I tracked every day. yesterday was 25 over calorie-wise but that was good. I was under my carbs over my protein that was good. I'm making better choices exercising and I have a job interview tomorrow.
@trooworld... you were doing great and making good choices I'm so proud of you... yes it's expensive to eat healthy unfortunately
@theslightedgeforever hang in there..you are doing great...we all have life but you're being consistent so this is good.0 -
Hi all. Well, the scale is moving in the right direction: I lost 4 ounces this week. Not much, but I'll take it, it's better than gaining. I tried hard this past week and am glad I was rewarded for my efforts. Sometimes you aren't and that's frustrating.
@cbabie you are doing fantastic! Congratulations. I wish you well on the job interview, remember you are interviewing them as well as them interviewing you! Thank you, I'm trying (this week).1 -
Hello all. I must be early this morning. I'm so glad it's the weekend, I"m very tired and ready to relax. Yesterday was fine, I resisted going to the cafe for cookies which is good. I hope I can do the same today. I also went to the gym even though I went kicking and screaming. Did 30 mins on the bike. Have a good day, everyone!0
-
Hi all! Well you all were right... I got back down to 1.8 lbs below goal after that last business trip put me 0.4 above goal. I'm now trying to slowly get to 5 lbs below my original goal -- this still keeps me well within the healthy BMI range and I think will give me a bit of a cushion not to freak out with fluctuations. I'm on another business trip now and while I took healthy snacks and tracked everything, I went well over my calorie allotment yesterday and didn't get any exercise in... just exhausted. So we'll see what the damage is when I get home.
@cbabie Good luck on the interview! I too did a lot of decluttering over the past few weeks. I'm much happier for it. I still have more to do when I get back but doesn't it make you feel good when you see all that extra space? I found that while I was losing weight and gaining good habits, I had this desire to declutter as well -- another great lifestyle change!
@trooworld I know what you mean about getting to the gym kicking and screaming. It's always the hardest part of exercise -- actually going to the gym.... or putting on the DVD, or getting out the door for a walk or whatever. Once I'm there, I love it! Like right now, I'm lying in this hotel room knowing I ought to get my butt out of bed and get a workout in... LOL! Ok getting up now...
Chat later all! Have a great day!0 -
@trooworld @theslightedgeforever @cbabie - I'm home! Gosh, I missed you guys. I've been crazy busy and stressed out, not eating right, missing the gym more than hitting it. You don't know how good it is to see you all here keeping each other going. @trooworld it was sooo great to meet you in person even though it was for like 45 seconds and I had to get busy. And yeah, that was in July...(sigh).
@achagpar hello, we have never met, but hopefully will get to know each other! The decluttering goes hand in hand with the weight loss. Peter Walsh (the guy from Clean Sweep and Enough Already) wrote 2 books that I reread on occasion to help me keep focused "Does This Clutter Make my Butt Look Fat?" and "Lose the Clutter, Lose the Weight". I'm currently rereading the second one.
My life is a huge blur of driving kids to and from schools and work. Add in working 2 days a week and all the prep work that comes with teaching. I have to make a to do list every day that includes getting up and showering, just to keep track of everything I need to do. I "inherited" my grandson (17 year old, senior in high school) last May. School is going good for him. He even takes one college class (piano) one day a week. My youngest (19, girl) got a job at Walmart as a cashier, which she's doing well at and has been there over a month. She doesn't have her license yet and I take her to work during the week and pick her up unless her boyfriend picks her up. Besides all that, we have gaming events 1 to 3 times a month. We did join the gym a few months ago, but haven't gotten into the habit of going as often as we should. Working on that. Otherwise, life is good. The weight loss, well...it's like that meme I saw going around on Facebook awhile back "My goal was to lose 10 pounds this year. Only 15 to go."
Well, I'm off to pick up some female offspring person from Walmart. Happy to be back here!

Hi all! I had an NSV yesterday: hubby was going to make dinner and he asked if I wanted pita pizzas or did I want his homemade pizza with the good dough. I said, "I'm trying to lose weight, I want pita pizzas!" and he made the good dough for himself and made me a pita pizza. This is important because pizza is sort of a problem food for me. I was able to resist his yummy homemade pizza!
@chagpar well done! That's great. I'm glad it came off.
@bugmom92 welcome home, glad to see you! It was really nice to meet you too. I hope you had fun at the con, we did (as always). It sounds like you keep busy year round! I'm glad you are back.1 -
Morning all
Well I didn't get the job but I was happy with that I didn't really want to work in a call center not my thing and I didn't track yesterday... but other than that I've been pretty busy and good about trackin. However last night I sat down late last night thinking since I finally heard about the job and know I have to make some more life changes and I'm excited about that.
@trooworld. Sorry I've been MIA this week a lot lot of things going on here but I'm ready to buckle down for the next season.. I'm so glad you have the gym some people like going to the gym some people work at home like me I just always hated paying money for the gym I'm such a tightwad LOL..
@achagpar one of the things I like about a hotel room is the quiet time just me alone it's so peaceful.. it's great you got back down under your goal I remember that feeling I used to always get that 5 lb cushion cuz I know my body fluctuates... but I started realizing it's just how my clothes fit if they're tight I'm miserable if they're loose or fit good I'm happy..
@bugmom92 I lost half my post Karla. it's good to have you back my schedule sounds like your schedule I thought as we got older we had less responsibility LOL . at least we're all trying to keep moving forward that's a good thing..
okay I have to go get ready I'm going to meet my old boss for breakfast I haven't seen her in a few months we need to catch up have a great Saturday
Cbabie1 -
trooworld My goal til end of December is 164 carbs daily. What a great NSV you had with the pizza. Hooray for your loss. You said no to cookies and went to the gym.
cbabie Sounds like you are doing well on your food.
achagpar Yaaay for you maintaining. Hardest part for me is just putting on my tennis shoes. If I do that and change then I'm more ready to work out.
bugmom welcome back How are you? I have one of Peter Walsh's books too. I wonder how many weight loss books we share

Hi all! Last night, hubby and I went out with another couple, we went to a Persian restaurant and then went to an art opening. At the restaurant, I did very well. I had my choice between choosing a plate with kabobs, too much rice, a tomato and a pepper, or I could choose a wrap with no rice that had grilled chicken and veggies in lavash bread. I chose the wrap. I was disappointed with my choice for other reasons, which made me want to eat something else, but I did not. I did stay up too late and had a small piece of pizza, but that is better than it could have been.
@cbabie well I'm glad you are okay with not getting the job. At least it was good practice to go on the interview, right? I actually don't like going to the gym, I go because I have to pick up my husband at the gym on the way home and he's not ready to leave the gym when I get there, so I figure I may as well go in and work out lol. I would prefer to go walking in my neighborhood. But riding the bike at the gym isn't too bad, I watch YouTube videos (including the ones you post here, @theslightedgeforever ) and read. Are you meeting your old boss that you didn't like for breakfast???
@theslightedgeforever thank you. I am doing really well lately, I know (I almost said I hope lol) I can keep it up.

trooworld Yaaay on good choices at the restaurant. Myself, I would have went with the kebab platter and ate half of the rice and left the rest. It would have been a psychological thing with me. I love Persian food.

Hi all! Man, I am tired. Yesterday, I tried to cook all of my meals for the week and I got all of them cooked but one. I make so much better decisions when I do this than if I try to cook my meals during the week. But in the middle of cooking, the garbage disposal got clogged and I had to stop cooking and hubby had to try to figure out how to fix it. He's no mechanic, but he was able to figure it out. It took about 45 minutes and made a big mess. Unfortunately, it zapped a lot of my energy as well. I'm glad I got as much done as I did.
@theslightedgeforever thanks! The choice of the wrap was also a financial one, it was only $10 while the kabob plate was $17 and I just didn't think it was worth it (it was just a couple of skewers, a roasted tomato, a lot of rice, and a hot pepper). I also love Persian food. Thanks for the highlights and congrats on losing!!!!

trooworld At least you got almost all your cooking done. Yeah too big of a price difference although I'm thinking $10 for a wrap? I hope a drink came with that \
Gemwolf good to see you. I don't know much about the Keto diet. I'm assuming low carb? I'm doing a modified carb diet and babystepping my way down. Overall it has been working for me this last three months allowing me to lose on average a lb a week. Better than I did the first 6 months of 2017. That trip sounds fun. Everyone in my family has been to Colorado but me. Wedding plans. A good health journey will help with tbe stress.
cbabie where are you (said in a Shaggy voice)
Daily check in food cals and carbs over exercise none water 9 glasses of water0 -
Hi gemwolf, good to see you back too. You probably wasn't gone as long as me, lol.
I started tracking my food again a few days ago. It's making a difference. We have a Bunco group that meets once a month. Tonight was my turn for hosting. I made my butternut chili, and a green salad with a yummy Cherry Balsamic that found at Sam's Club. For dessert I had apple slices and caramel dip. I personally stayed within my serving of the dip. Now, my problem is usually the snacks on the table during the game. So that I wouldn't be tempted, I got the mini Twix, Crunch, and KitKat bars, and Chex Mix...stuff full of plenty of gluten, which I can't eat. I almost caved and bought M&Ms for the tables, but glad I didn't, as I would not have resisted. I remember every year the WW leaders saying to buy candy to give out that you don't like so you're not tempted. I used this principle (with a "will make you sick" instead of a "don't like"). It was so nice to focus on the game and my friends and not sit there munching on sweets and feeling bad.
Today was a long one, on little sleep, and I'm hoping to make it to my friend's "Fun Dance" class (sort of like Zumba with modifications, taught by a Pilates instructor). It's at 10 am, so I should be recuperated enough by then, lol. I'm off to bed...was super tired all day, and I'm ready to melt into my pillow. Super happy to be back on track. Talk to you all later!

Hi all! I am thinking about trying Crossfit. I don't know what brought it up, I've been wanting to try it for a while but the cost of it has always kept me away. But I think I can swing it in the new year. BUT it means that I will have to give up a few things, including my Vida coach. I'll do a free one-week trial first to see if I think I will like it, and maybe not cancel my Vida coach for the first month. I'm going to stop into the Crossfit gym that I am interested in this Friday and see if I can talk to someone to get my questions answered and just generally take a look around. I think Crossfit will appeal to me because I like group exercise as long as it doesn't entail me having any sort of coordination (like Zumba or Jazzercize) and I like to lift weights and feel strong and I've heard you feel really strong doing Crossfit. I've got plenty of time to explore Crossfit if I'm not joining until January or February. Food was good yesterday, I did not get to the gym. I probably will tonight.
@gemwolf110 It sounds like you've been missing for good reasons! Congrats on the trailer, that sounds awesome. And a mid-August wedding is a nice time: my hubby and I got married August 13th. You have plenty of time if you want to make health a priority.
@theslightedgeforever yeah $10 for a wrap was a lot but that was the cheapest thing on the menu besides things like a side of olives lol. Actually, hot tea did come with everything so there's that hahaha.
@bugmom92 tracking is the #1 thing that helps me, that and pre-planning my meals. The food you served at the Bunco group sounds amazing! Good plan to get stuff w/plenty of gluten/stuff you didn't want to eat.

Hi gals sorry I've been MIA.
My grandson had four wisdom teeth and another tooth extracted yesterday so I've been staying with him no time for personal stuff.
I'm getting good better at tracking still maintaining my weight haven't lost any but haven't gained any so that's a positive.
@trooworld you're making great choices I don't like things that cause me to be coordinated either because I'm not LOL.
@bugmom92 yeah Eminem's would have been my downfall and those are something you just keep grabbing by the handful and popping into your mouth I can't eat just wanted to time so good choices keep tracking.
@gemwolf110 my husband would love a travel trailer and just be out in nature and be away from the city me I'm a homebody sounds like you've been really busy but it's good to see you back we missed you.
@theslightedgeforever I'm here just in the background reading and seems like my days go too quick for me right now not sure how I did all this when I worked got to get it together thanks for checking on me.
