Hello all. I hate mornings lol. Actually, just lately, lately I have been really tired when I wake up. And our weather is miserable: 90s, hot and dry dry dry. I hate it! Send some of your nice cool Fall weather my way, will you please? My day was okay yesterday with the exception that I got into some brownies last night and had a portion of them.

@cbabie nice to see you this morning! Good job staying away from the sugary foods. Yes, we get to start fresh each day! Thanks, re: my knee...it felt better after I rested up.

@theslightedgeforever thanks! Yes, the festival was small but fun. Thanks for the highlights. I'm glad they are addressing the cholesterol thing. Sorry for the gain, but you'll sneeze and have that off!

    Morning all,

@theslightedgeforever I am up for the challenge of more water, thanks !
@trooworld I hope you start resting at night, I find that when my mind won't shut off, I wake up really tired. YOu should see my face now..it looks awful. I have not been sleeping well for a few days..I wake up from 1:00AM on until I finally say...just get up and be done with it.

I went to my Go Red meeting last night. For those of you not familiar with this...it's the American Heart Association for women. I couldn't decide if I wanted to be an ambassador as I am not really good with fundraising, setting up booths, etc. However, I will use the platform God has given me. I cried during the meeting again as they talked about what happens with a stroke and what you should do...All I could see was my dad laying on that floor for all those hours...I can't change that and yes I do have regrets, but I can go on to help others, so they won't live with that in their mind. Do you know that Sunday is WORLD Stroke Day... and did you know that heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the U.S.?

okay, I hope you all have a great day and lets make this a get with our game day!!!

Hi all! Well it was another night of staying up too late last night: it was really really hot and plus we didn't get home on time from work (had to run an errand after work). I fought against myself really hard last night on the way home, I really wanted to stop at fast food and get quick and comforting fast food, but I did not. I came home and ate what I had already made (thank god that I made all my food...that's the only thing that saved me!).

@cbabie ugh me too. I hate waking up in the morning not fully rested. I did not know that heart disease was the #1 killer, wow, I do know that my mother and grandmother have both suffered strokes so I need to be careful of my cholesterol numbers. Thankfully, they are very good right now.

trooworld I hope you have some cool weather soon. Also be careful of your blood pressure numbers. I don't think my dad had cholesterol problems but he had a stroke. Of course his BP was always super high. Good for you for not stopping at fast food restaurant. Healthy choices.

cbabie I knew that heart disease kills more women than cancer. I think Feb is go red month and in one of my groups we used to do something about the heart every Feb. You can't change the past. Move forward and help yourself and others. I forgot that I mentioned the water challenge.

Hi all! Well, since last Thursday, I lost 3.2 lbs, which is almost all that I gained last week. I'm glad I got just about it all off. I felt a bit defeated gaining that much for really no reason. I am now 8.2 lbs from my 1st goal. I went to the gym last night and did the bike for 25 mins, I don't know if I'll make it to the gym tonight, it depends on traffic.

@theslightedgeforever I hope we get cooler weather soon too. I can't take this weather! re: bp...mine has always run low, 60/90 range, so hopefully, I won't ever have high blood pressure but I've heard of people with low pressure that as they get older, they get high blood pressure.

Hi all! I didn't make it to the gym because I went to yoga at work instead. This was after doing about an hour of heavy lifting/moving things around in the library, so I was exhausted but I went. Food was good...hubby made these fish burrito bowls (no rice). Well, have a good day!

Wow, I haven't been on here..I am so sorry. My DH was home and my schedule was squashed...LOL

@trooworld Happy dance for you!!! Great job on the loss. I love your DH likes to cook. My DH is good on the grill, but not on the stove. :)

I am trying to get my act together...some days are okay but not good and some are just borderline bad. I have been on an emotional roller coaster ride this week, but there is healing in those emotions. I have really for some reason missed my dad this week. I have had heartburn bad...that's my eating habits I am sure. I used to have heartburn all the time, but once I got the weight off, it went away..So what does that tell you? Okay what does it tell ME!! :)

Okay, I hope to be back tomorrow and check in. I need the accountability.

Hi all! Well, another busy day today. I've got to go to the park and walk and then try to get Comic-Con tickets this morning, then go to ToastMasters, then we are going out to have Halloween fun with my sister-in-law. Tomorrow is busy too: meeting with the graphic novel club and then I have to cook cook cook the rest of the day. How are all of you?

@cbabie thanks! Yes, I'm lucky he likes to cook (and grill!) and is good at both. I can always tell when I'm eating poorly because my heartburn is worse than usual. I hope you can find your way back to the light soon.

@theslightedgeforever what say you? Where are you? How about the rest of you all? :)

    Hi all!

Super congrats on the loss @trooworld ! That's really awesome!

And @cbabie , I'm glad you're supporting GoRed. Heart disease claimed nearly everyone in my family. Losing weight to try to break the legacy.

Now that I'm home, I stepped on the scale... 126.4. That's up 3.4 lb from when I left but the damage could have been way worse... I'm getting myself back on track, realizing that weight loss is a never ending journey not a destination.

Hope all of you have a great week!

trooworld Yaaay on your loss. Just keep working and you will be at your first goal soon.

cbabie I had same problem as you Dh was home. Took two vacation days. that totally messes with my schedule. Heartburn is no fun.

achagpar You are eight weight loss is never ending. I'm sure most of that is just water weight from your trip.

I just watched the twins video I always watch each week. One of them just made goal at WW. Good for her.She lost almost 84 lbs.

Daily check in over cals by 44 and over carbs by 7 (donuts) exercise none water 2 glasses

Hi all! Well, my husband, my sister-in-law and I went out last night for Halloween and had a great time. Stayed out too late and had late night food, which is never good. I have to cook some healthy food today and get back on track.

@achagpar welcome home! 3.4 is not bad considering how long you were traveling and I bet a lot of that is fluid retention.

@theslightedgeforever thanks! I'm afraid this week might be a gain, I haven't been eating so well since Thursday's weigh in. Today, I right the ship though. I watch the twins videos sometimes too, but not all the time because they can be a bit much. I haven't seen that video yet, I might watch it.

Afternoon, I didn't do well at all, I have no gained 1 lb.. UGH.....I feel terrible, but I am going to keep trying. I just ate some spaghetti and garlic bread. I really never eat with the family, and decided it's Sunday I should. So I did. I am going to have to track it and I know the carbs are not the best for me, but it's life.

@achagpar You will get that 3.4 off in no time as trooworld said, I am sure it's mostly water. That always happen to me when we used to not be at home.

@trooworld Well you know that I am happy that you enjoyed your family. I feel if I have time to enjoy my family it's a good day!!!

@theslightedgeforever what do you do for your heartburn?

Hi all! I was supposed to get all of my meal prepping for the week done yesterday but only got most of it done. I still have one meal to go. I'll make that either tonight or tomorrow night. The sands of time just ran out too quickly yesterday. Boy, time sure flies on the weekends, doesn't it? I ate well yesterday, no exercise but ate well.

@cbabie I'm sorry about your gain. Hopefully, you'll get that off next week. Yes, I did enjoy time with my family, that is definitely important!

@gemwolf110 great job meal prepping! I find that helps me a lot. That's good you got to spend time with a friend and do something productive at the same time. I'm glad you popped in!

Hi All, I just want to check in quickly. I have several things I have to do this morning. I will hopefully get back here later today, but not sure.

I just feel that water bloat today and want to stay home and not go anywhere, but can't do that. LOL You know those stretch pants that with a long shirt cover a multitude of sinful eating? I need to invest in those. :)
Luckily my DH ate all the candy corn/pumpkins so I don't have to have that temptation around. I have another bag, but it will not be opened...it is hid.

As I look at myself in the mirror today..I say, my hair looks unhealthy, my nails, my skin...what happened to me? Well life and stress and decisiveness. So time to take time for my health. You know that what we eat, what we put on our bodies, has far reaching effects.

@gemwolf110 Yes essential oils are the best. I am a distributor for Young Living. However, I never got where I want to be. (again those life decisions) my daughter is so knowledgeable and everything is DYI. From cleaner to deodorants, lotions, etc. It's amazing to me that we eat healthy, but put chemicals in or on our bodies. It's always such a good feeling to deep clean. I have been trying since I was let go to get that back. I am having a garage sale this Sat to get rid of a garage full..LOL (some from my Dad's house)

@trooworld Great job on the meal prep....I am not doing well there. It seems until I figure out a job, we are eating..cheap. So yea for you!!!

Okay, I will try to check in later.

trooworld Did you dress up for Halloween?

cbabie I used to take tums but really haven't had any since I lost this last 15 lbs.

gemwolf Good to hear from you. Exercise is something I need to work on too.

Hello all! I'm up earlier than usual to get ready for Halloween. Food was good yesterday, I tried to track but I pre-track before I go to work and the darned MFP site wouldn't create my recipes, I kept getting errors. So, I couldn't track before I went to work and I forgot to when I got home. I'm about to track now, I hope it works.

@cbabie I'm so sorry you are having such a tough time. I hope you can turn it around soon. What is one thing you can do today towards turning it around? I understand re: eating cheaply...I've had to do that lately too, groceries are so expensive, especially when you buy meat. When I buy meat, just for 2 people, it's $170 for one week. ONE WEEK! And that is getting everything I can at Walmart superstore and a produce store which are the two cheapest stores.

@theslightedgeforever yes, my husband dressed up as Winnie the Pooh, my sister-in-law was a witch and I was a scary nun. Today, I am dressing up as "my future self" (I'm going to be a crazy cat lady).

    Morning all!

I am totally at a loss these days. I have not been in this type of health funk except I remembered today that in the 80's I was so addicted to diet pills and couldn't seem to be happy with my weight that I almost killed myself. I was lethargic, had trouble breathing, etc...was taken to the Dr and he told me to get off the pills, as they really were literally killing me. They have since banned those off the market. LOL So I was trying to remember when I was happy with my health and was eating properly. That was about 4 years ago. Life was so much different. HOWEVER, I am taking 1 day at a time and each day I make new and different choices. So I chose today to get on here with my friends.

@trooworld I am sure you did great. It was in the forefront of your thoughts, so you should be good. I love the "future self" ....there is my new goal...to be my future self. LOL

@theslightedgeforever no heartburn yesterday and so far none today...this is a good sign.

@cbabie good for you for choosing to do something good for yourself. I almost agreed with you that this is also my worst time period, but it isn't--- I'm not at my highest weight, I'm eating healthier, I'm making better choices, I'm going to the gym semi-regularly...I just had a bad day yesterday (more about that below). It's far from my worst time period.

Hi all! Well, I sure had fun yesterday at work. I didn't get much done all day but I had fun. Unfortunately, I went off the deep end with food. I don't know what it is about FREE FOOD. I just went crazy. I'm definitely going to pay the price on Thursday morning, I don't even want to get on the scale. I just forgot about my rule about free food/how I handle free food, which is to walk away for 5 minutes and think about it and see if I really want it. I just went in there and had it. I'm so mad at myself. Grrrr. Here's a pic of me at work dressed as my future self (cat lady). There was another cat lady, believe it or not!: 7dbgolsppr2p.jpg

    Hi all,
Well I didn't track yesterday at all go figure. However I didn't bonge eat so that was a good thing. Today starts a new month I've learned some things since being let go.. so I'm going to believe November is going to be my month to come back..
@trooworld I love your costume that is great. I have a niece that works at a library in Illinois and she had a creative costume, but she's like my mother she got my mother's gene... in regards to your food I say you realized...you forgot your rule .lol... its history you're going forward and you'll do great. I'm glad your eating healthy making good choices you have created a good habit.. I'm also really glad that we met on this board you have been such an encouragement I totally appreciate you and your consistency.

trooworld Loved your costume. Think of all the good habits you have been making. Keep those up and turn them into a longer streak.

cbabie I loved the way Dexatrim made me feel. I loved the buzz. Now I use tea lol I was doing really well for almost 3 months and then now can't find my mojo. So I'm going back to baby steps. Creating habits. I just downloaded an app called HabitBull. I put in 4.

I'm going to have surgery on my nose Skin cancer. Its not melanoma but imagine if I had received the news that it was breast cancer. If I don't change my habits then it could be one day. Scary.

@cbabie what was your niece's costume? Thanks, that is very sweet of you to say. I'm glad I've met all of you as well. You all have helped me a lot.

@theslightedgeforever thanks! Yes, I have to turn this ship around. For some reason, when the weather turns colder, I want to eat bad things and bake. I'm sorry to hear you have to have surgery, but it's good you are taking care of it. Thanks for posting the highlights. It looks like it is a good topic this week. Sorry about the gain. I'm about to get on the scale myself. I'm sure it's a gain. I shouldn't jinx myself, but I already know.

Hi all! I'm glad today's a new day. Yesterday, I got into peanut butter w/crackers. Not the best thing to be snacking on, but I guess not the worst. I just got on the scale, I gained 1.1 lbs, which is way less than I thought I would gain. I'll consider it a gift lol. Time to right the direction of this ship pronto!

    Morning all,

I actually tracked all of my intake yesterday and exercised. I am more important than the things I have let stress me out to the point of taking my health and putting it below those things...I feel like the Pillsbury dough boy. I look like him too..maybe a little darker..not much though. I have made me a check list in my paper calendar..vitamins, exercise, track..all the necessities of life. LOL

@trooworld my neice went as Harry Potter, she loves those books..she is an avid reader. (Makes her aunt happy). I don’t know that I like all the books she reads. I say be careful what you put in your brain...it stays there. (Garbage in garbage out). However, I am glad people still read actual books..(not kindles) sorry slight edge..LOL. There is just something about the smell of a book. YUM...

@theslightedgeforever sorry about the gain, you will get your motivation back..you just have a lot on you right now. But don’t give up, don’t make wrong choices consistanatly..just know. This is a season and it will pass. You have to help the good choices outweigh the bad ones. 2 good for 1 bad is still moving forward.

I just heard a saying on the radio today, that really got me to thinking..they were saying what is it that your mom always said to you..Like mine would say to me..Never is an awful long time..don’t say never.

So here is the saying of the day!

The road is long without a turn, but the turn will come!!

@cbabie I love Harry Potter, so I would have loved your niece's costume! I know what you mean about the smell of books...as you may know, I am a librarian, however, I do read most of my books on Kindle. This is because I don't have room to store books + with a Kindle, I can carry around 1,000s of books to choose from. But, there is nothing like holding and smelling a REAL book! In our library at work, our oldest book is from 1496. We have many old books in our archives, which is kept at a cool 63F and dry. I like your saying of the day...something to keep in mind!

Hi all. Yesterday was a bit better, although I did buy some unplanned chili from the cafe. I ate less of my lunch, so the chili was okay to have. I did have one fun-sized Snickers, but that was only 80 cals and I tracked it so I'm not that worried about it.

Well I got into the Halloween candy went over my calories but I tracked so that was a good thing.. I also exercised I also studied my school, chicken for dinner tonight...
@trooworld LOL I own a Kindle too..its an older one... I have so many books it's scary actually. Some were my dads...I have some dated back to the 1800's.my Dad loved old books... we're a family of readers except for some of the grandchildren. It's a Lost Art sometimes I'm glad you tracked your chili and your candy great job!

    Morning,

I have a Mary Kay meeting I have to go to for most of the day. I have never met these people, it’s a new group. I am looking forward to meeting new people and bringing new things into my life. I did terrible yesterday, but funny, my DH made a comment and it took me back years ago, so maybe his comment is what I needed, even though is comment was not nice.:(.

I hope you all have a great Saturday

@cbabie yeah, I used to have a lot of books (too many) when we lived in a bigger apartment, but when we were moving I had to get rid of most of them. I bet you have some really interesting books. I love that you are a family of readers! Maybe the grandchildren that don't will come around. :) I'm sorry your DH made a not so nice comment. Sometimes these guys say things that they don't think about how they sound. :(

HI all! I didn't do well at all yesterday. I hope today is a better day. I got into all sorts of things I won't mention. But today is a new day, a chance to start fresh and I will. I did track everything yesterday. I think part of it was stress from work. Well, I'm about to go to the stores and get healthy groceries. Have a great day!

@theslightedgeforever good to see you! Yes, cool weather makes me want to sit around with a cup of hot coffee or tea and a book and read! ;)

Hi all! I got my grocery shopping done, now the challenge will be cooking all the meals today. I don't think I will be able to cook all the meals but I will try. I'm having a challenge at work: I bring my breakfast but I end up not wanting to eat it because I don't like it, so I go to the cafe and get something else. So, I'm hoping I like what I chose this week. I didn't like last week's breakfast because it was sweet (I'm a savory breakfast type of person). This week, it's "Savory Steel Cut Oats" that has mushrooms, kale, miso, tahini paste, soy sauce, and other savory ingredients in it. I sure hope I like it. The danger is I don't generally like oatmeal (EXCEPT for I like steel cut oats). I don't like eggs either unless they are loaded with veggies, meat and cheese. I'm just not a breakfast food person! So, wish me luck!
