what NOT to eat

Don't eat cake, ice cream, maple syrup, candy, donuts, potato chips, cookies, juices, bagels and stay away from sodas.
You can't lose weight and get healthier while eating those foods in moderation, within the context of an overall balanced diet?
Dang. Does that mean I have to give back my 60 pounds that I've lost? Because I've eaten all those and more throughout the process.6 -
I ate bad mayo once. I wouldn't eat that again. Along the same line the people who made the bad mayo were at "The Phoenix" in KCMO. I wouldn't eat there again ever.3

LOL I love that you take every opportunity to mention the name of the establishment that gave you food poisoning....6 -
What not to eat?
Too much of anything.
Stay within your calorie allowance.6 -
One thing that I did when I first started this journey was make a decision that I wasn't going to eat anything I didn't like in order to lose weight. Losing weight is hard enough as it is. And you know what? I managed to lose 50 lbs eating all the foods I enjoy.10

OK I will go out on a limb and say no fruit juices or sugar sodas. Keep eating fruit though.
Add salads and soups. To put as your sides when travelling hubby comes home. That will help fill you up with fewer calories while the two of you enjoy the foods you always have. Just control your portions.2 -

Anyway, I want to get lean. I know WHAT to eat but not what NOT to eat.
Any suggestions as to what NOT to eat so I can eliminate it from my diet and thoughts?
Thanks!
If you know what TO eat, you know what NOT to eat. Right?
True but I just want someone to tell me. It's easier than left to my own devices. lol
You might be better off just joining one of those programs , like Jenny Craig or nutrisystem
Good luck2 -

"Generally, we say not to go to extremes and eliminate foods you love from your diet. It can lead to binging later on. Instead, have small, occasional portions of the real thing. Love French fries? Let yourself eat a small serving once a week. (I personally love chocolate ice cream and let myself have a 1/2 cup serving 2x/week... but no desserts otherwise). Having said that, there are a few things that are just toxic and terrible for any diet. Anything high in sugar is likely going to be pretty problematic for weight loss and maintenance. If I had to pick one thing to completely eliminate? Soda and diet soda - which are loaded with sugar and/or chemicals - are awful and have been linked not only to weight gain, but also cancers and also diseases."
Hope that helps!
Well, the first half was decent advice...
It went downhill fast from there, though.
It was a jump off a cliff....6 -

The OP mentioned nothing of losing weight or getting healther....
How you did whatever is irrelevant as are your goals.2 -

Getting lean doesn't usually involve losing weight where you're from?
LOL. Ok then. Enjoy your broscience.7 -

All the more reason why it's not necessary to cut out the things you mentioned then...5 -

I'll have to lookup The Phoenix next time I'm in KC. These constant posts about their mayo has me curious.5 -

She said she want's to get more lean, bro. Where I come from that could mean gaining weight, bro. She could reduce fat % and increase muscle % and overall weigh more, bro. To achieve that, the best thing to do is to eat lean, protein packed foods. At least where I come from, bro.
Edit: Changed "he" to "she" for WinoGelato.0 -

I think I key in on it because I've been there, it's downtown across from where Tanners used to be, and the Quaff. They have (had?) live Jazz if I recall.0 -

Sort of. I was in the mood for fishing today and I like this pond - it's easy to get lots of bites. LOL! Although, I'm surprised there weren't more. But, I DID answer the OP's question and if she truly wants to cut some things out of her diet in order to get more lean, I gave some good examples. The choice is all hers though.0 -

Three pages to tell OP that all foods are worthy of consumption with moderation.3

Do not eat sugary foods that you wouldn't eat when you are not caring how many calories you eat such as free store bought cookies or samples at grocery stores.0

What if I paid for them instead of getting them free? Are they okay then?9 -
My take away from this thread: Lots of bro/sis gender confusion, and the silica packets I ate won't poison me.

mmmmm. Lima beans. And fava beans. Definitely eat them.
I love fava beans and recommend them.
I understand they are pleasant with chianti too.
And I do live liver, but I'd recommend not going for just any liver, you know. So that's what I'd say not to eat.9 -
My only "nots" involved foods that triggered bingeing or led me to fall off plan. Even in the beginning, that meant fast food or food from convenience stores.
That's it.
It's not the food item that's the problem, but some food can trigger behavioral reactions for some folks.
And even those triggers can change over time as your tastes and habits change.
The fewer restrictions we place on our food, the better it seems to work long term for many people. That's how I roll, anyway.
You have to look long and hard at you own needs, desires, habits, triggers, and goals, and create a plan for yourself that works for YOU!4 -
