I just want to eat cleaner, eat less and move more!
Sounds simple doesn't it? Well, it's not for me. I fail daily.
My husband gave me a trip to Hawaii for my birthday and trip is May 1st 2017. I can't even fit in my swimsuit at this point. This trip has ALWAYS been on my bucketlist.
I need lose weight + be in good enough shape for hiking, bike riding, swimming, etc.
14 WEEKS!!!!!!!!6 -
I am new to My fitness Pal and to this discussion. My old calorie tracking site is closing so I thought I better find a replacement. I just turned 56 and have had a life long struggle with my weight. I am down 35 lbs (over the past year) and hope to rid myself of the other 60. I don;t really have any resolutions; I just take things one day at a time. I did tell myself that will try to do some form of exercise at least three times a week and limit my wine consumption to the weekends. I guess those could be called resolutions towards improving my lifestyle.
I'm still learning how to use the food tracker since it is different that what I have been doing.
Wishing everyone luck in reaching your goals and keeping your resolutions!3 -

In 14 weeks you could lose up to 28 pounds and strengthen your muscles! That is a lot of fat to get rid of and your bathing suit should fit you well! You should also be able to walk and do everything else that you want with just taking baby steps! It's not easy for any of us. Set your alarm for every hour on the hour and get up and do something. I am in a fitness challenge so I get up and do my sit ups push-ups and jumping jacks then I take my dog for a walk after I get four sets in. You could join me on that if you would like!

Hi all -
RockinMBC - Great resolutions! I've been trying to get a meditation practice going, but I have a hard time making myself sit down and do it.
Penny - Thanks for keeping us updated on Heather. One of these days I would love to see the aurora borealis.
Joyce - I had laporoscopic gall bladder surgery and you're right. It was still quite awhile before everything quit feeling floaty inside. Like when you lose a filling and it feels like a massive hole in your mouth... every time I rolled onto my right side it felt like my innards were falling into that hole. Way better than the ailing gall bladder, though!
Sherry - I am so sorry you're hurting. And also glad someone was kind enough to get you to the hospital to be looked over. Take good care of yourself!
Lisa - Crossing my fingers for one of your chickens to come to roost!
Today is my husband's day off, so we just got back from taking the ancient tiny SUV to get a new soft top installed. It'll be SO good to have two cars again! We've had a lot of cold rainy weather since the top finally let go and with his long commute, it's been inconvenient to have to share. It's also a gorgeous day here today - bright, sunny, and in the low 70s - so if I can get away from work for awhile I might ride the motorcycle over to get its inspection done.
I'm sitting here listening to the "all 70s" station on Amazon music. I love music from all eras, but it's kind of fun to hear nothing but music from my salad days. It'll be a good backdrop for my work day.
I wanted to tell you all that the turmeric roasted cauliflower soup recipe from skinnytaste is wonderful. I'll definitely be making that again. Next I'm going to try the roasted brussels sprouts and cauliflower one.
-Yvonne in TX1 -
Yvonne, I made that soup, too--but wasn't crazy about it because mine had a slightly burned flavor. Think maybe I'll try it again and roast the cauliflower a little less. Did you use full fat coconut milk? I used lite, and it didn't have much coconut flavor...1

Thx peach. You're a peach1

Barbie Yay! for the new dog.
Grace in TX I love all the foods you mentioned, especially the Almond Roca. Sigh! It's not that I don't love salmon and veggies too, but it's hard to beat a good chili dog. Good on you for logging it all. Others here know that I ate a whole bag of some kind of snack or other and when I got read to log it I realized there were still a few left, so I ate those and then logged the whole bag.
Katla I got rid of squirrels in the attic with a strobe light and a noxious high frequency sound emitter but I suspect they wouldn't be practical for an outdoor situation. We try to discourage raccoons scavenging the seeds left at the end of the day after taking in the bird feeders with motion sensor lights - they are partially effective, but we have had to chase a bold critter or two away with a broom. I do not like raccoons. We don't allow our little dogs out on the deck at night unless we have checked it out for fear they will get in a fight with and emboldened or sick raccoon.
Sharon Why are you dreading work?
KJ Crunches & Crockpots is catchy. Your niece sounds great! I have the same lip balm battle with my partner. Why can't she go through her pockets? LOL!
Pip Your short hair makes you look like...Pip!
Going to try again to post the pic of 2 of the pups giving me the fish eye b/c they knew I was leaving them to go to Jazzercise:
Also a pic of my sous vide experiment: I made this flank steak in my warming drawer in a makeshift sous vide set up. It was a success! Medium rare and delish.

Sarah I agree with Beth's description of light snow. Actually looks quite lovely but alas I brought the wrong footwear to take for a lunch walk, lot of slushy puddles.
I've been very good about the politics--just would like to comment that we can only be judged by our own words and actions, not by those of extremists on either side. So anything about signs and celebrities, whether it is Madonna or Ted Nugent, should not be used to demonize the other.
All I know today is that lots of people are bound to suffer for others' ideology and maybe even their own. And our job is to do what we can to eliminate that, and bear each other up.

Yes, I'm back. Things have (for now) settled.
First off, I know that I have a lot of posts to go thru so I'm sorry if I don't respond to everyone. Welcome all new ladies and congrats on the losses and great NSV's everyone had.
Well, before we left I did an hour on the rebounder. Sat. and Sun I just walked on the treadmill at the fitness center since their elliptical (I'd forgotten) doesn't give you the steps/minute so I really couldn't do any HIIT. One thing is that it gets pretty warm in the fitness center so when I got back to the room I'd take a shower. Yesterday I did one segment of a 10 Minute Solution Pilates DVD, held my plank, then took the extremepump class. Today I did a Peak 10 Cardio Interval Burn DVD. We have a Newcomer board meeting tomorrow so the plan is to do a bosu DVD at home.
Cheri - so sorry the airline lost your luggage.
Sad, sad day today at our house. The last of the Christmas trees is put away.
Vince is going to help this gal with her computer on Fri so I made these german chocolate bars to take to her. Then I made chicken soup for the gal who does my sewing, I'll see her Friday and see if she can do anything with Jess' quilt. Before this I made more chocolate bran muffins. then I made a chocolate cake for Vince. I'm going to ice it with this key lime icing (that I got on sale).
Loved all the pics
Mia - wishing you all the best on the job front
barbie - how exciting that Sasha will be getting a new sister
Sherry - (((HUGS))))
Sharon - yes, Denise did get a dress. I'll post a pic of it at the bottom. After wedding dress shopping we had lunch at Red Robin. I had the gardenburger. When I went to log it, I almost fell over with the calorie count!
Re - happy belated birthday
Chris - when mushroom are on a good sale around here, I buy them, cut them up, roast them, then freeze them and use them in my salad. I put everything and anything in my salad
Kathy - I really don't closely monitor my macros. I know some ladies do. To me, a balanced diet is what I go after. I feel it'll all balance out in the end so why stress over it?
Heather - so sorry you're sick on vacation
Meg - (((HUGS)))
I feel that regardless on our political views, the President is the President and deserves our support.
Sherry - really loved the minions about naughty or evil.. really made me smile. Thanks
Lisa - way cool t-shirts
DJ - I'm the same way. I feel 39 but my body sure doesn't agree. Stupid body....lol
Lenora - I almost always use those chip/swipe card thingys. One reason is because with some cards you get a certain percentage back.
NYKaren - how wonderful of you to do that for your friend
Sarah - how do you make your spanikpopita? I love it, but have never made it myself
Chris - lovely pic. Great shopping!
Allie - Vince is related to Abraham Lincoln
canookie - they have 3D mammos here only our insurance doesn't cover them (boo)
Lenora - my grandfather never really did learn English. Which was too bad especially when he got sick and was in the hospital. So sorry about all your bad weather.
Penny - thanks for updating us about Heather. I was beginning to worry. Hope the shipments come soon
Sarah - great plank time.
Rori - "Secret Life of Fat" sounds really really interesting. I'll see if they have it on audiobook, hope they do
DJ - woo hoo on those buys
Lisa - best of luck to you
barbie - (jk). Don't you think that Karen's picture of that steak should be banned ???

Been out today for few drinks and karaoke, I don't sing but love music. One guy who is great singer (he sings all my favourites from 1960's) his wife has been diagnosed with Alzheimers at age 64. My friend who is 84 has a husband same age suffering with dementia. Such a horrible disease my friend hasn't had the most wonderful marriage (they have been together 60 years this year) now she has to cope with this also her only son is Bipolar. Feel so sorry for her, At least I have had a lovely husband who cares for me and encourages me in everything I do. So if he succombs to dementia I would look after him with a good heart.
Sorry to be so down but I think it is such a horrible disease.

KELLY ~ Thanks for the Youtube segments. The cats and dogs brightened my day.
MICHELLE ~ Your daughter is lovely.
Got some cleaning and laundry done today. Boy, does my house get dusty really quick. Guess it's because it's 30 years old and we have carpet. Hope to get the carpets cleaned and the air ducts cleaned soon.

Hey now....
Cheri - lol, you can say it, it won't hurt my feelings none , I know though...grrrrr! And that's the nice way of putting it! Needless to say I'm not too keen on this place or the people running it, but alas I must remain grateful for a roof over my head.
Am feeling better today. Thanks to painkillers I was able to get up this morning and take a shower. I was also able to take a short walk outside in the fresh air.
No ladies, that was not a typo in my last post. Yes, I have lost 10 pounds in about 5 1/2 weeks. I set my weight loss goal on SparkPeople at 2 pounds a week and it gave me a calorie goal of 1125 a day and have been sticking to that religiously. For those of you who don't know, I use SparkPeople instead of MFP to log my food and exercise as I feel it gives me a more accurate calorie count, both on intake and burned. I used to use MFP but I felt I had to leave for a while. I was asked by some of the ladies here to come back to this forum, so I did, however I do not log my food or exercise here. I am just here to visit with you lovely ladies. I have been on this journey to a skinnier me since June of last year and have managed to go from 319 pounds to 260 as of being weighed yesterday at the hospital. My goal for 2017 is to lose another 100 pounds by year's end and I truly believe I can accomplish that if I stick to it. And I've managed to get off all my meds except the two for my diabetes and two psych meds. So I went from taking 12 different meds to only 4. Well, add the two I got yesterday from the hospital but those are only temporary. And hopefully soon if my A1C test comes back with a good number I will be able to drop one of my diabetes meds. Wooohooo!
Well, I don't want to bore you all too much so am gonna go for now. Think I will lay down and take a catnap while it is somewhat quiet here. I'll babble at you all later. Hope you all are having a great day!

If anybody is interested in doing a 21 day keto diet I am starting February 5 through the 25th. If you are it would be a good idea to slowly start restricting carbs. Macros for this are, fat – 70 to 75%, protein – 15 to 20%, carbs 5 to 10% not to exceed 20–25 g of carbs per day. This will help prevent the keto flu. Also, when I eat this way I lose a tremendous amount of weight - Fat - in a short period of time.

Hello ladies: I was hoping for a warmer day outside to do some work in the yard but alas that is not to be so I am working on projects indoors. Need to vacuum up the hay. My DD and I seem to track a lot of it in. Our hydrant in the horse paddock cracked and luckily we have only a little dribble escaping because when I called the plumber they said it could be up to a 4-week wait or I could pay the overtime rate of $159/hr. We have been letting it dribble into the horses' water tank so not wasted but I would be glad to be able to turn it off.
I have been doing well getting in more fresh fruits and veggies since the first of the year but seem to be stuck on one of those plateaus. I generally lose and then stay in one place for a while before I lose again. Frustrating sometimes.
Lisa - Thinking good thoughts for you.
Penny - Thanks for info on Heather.
Sherry - You certainly have a lot of ups and downs. Congrats on the weight loss.
Michele - that is a lovely dress on a lovely girl.
Katla - DD and I have been looking at the horse fair information in Albany, OR. Looks like some good demos. We are looking at hotels and would probably be there Friday afternoon, all day Saturday and leave Sunday. The Black Pearl dancing Friesians sounds like fun.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA1 -
Afternoon ladies! My sister had her surgery today. This was supposed to be a revision of a previous knee replacement but they didn't have to do as near as much as what he had told her. So recovery and rehab will be much easier. One problem my sister has is that she abuses her pain medicine. If the bottle says 2 pills every 4 - 6 hours as needed, she will take 2 pills at the 4 and the 6 hours. She just doesn't understand the directions. Her husband has had to leave only the medicine she will need while he is at work and then taking the bottle with him. So I hope her pain level is good and she handles her meds OK. She realizes that she has this problem.
Went to Freedom Medical today while Charlie went to the mall to walk. Didn't go as expected. My PCP had given me a script for the shoes due to nueropathy. Well that didn't mean anything to anybody. You need to have something wrong such as sores, callouses, bunions, etc. No on all of those. So I just went ahead and ordered a $118 pair of shoes. My feet and legs just don't do well with heels anyway so flats were OK. They are black and will go with anything. While I was at the mall I thought Charlie was going to walk but when I said I was going to walk down to the antique store he went with me. It was still a lot of walking for me.
This mall used to be a nice mall, if was the first mall to be built in Indiana so you can tell it is pretty old.But then Evansville got a bigger and better mall and that was the end of the old one being retail. It tried for awhile. But it is now doctor's offices, rehab, small lab and xray, insurance, etc kind of mall. And very popular with the walkers. Our big mall has somewhere to sit and drink coffee after the early AM walkers and this one doesn't but it's still a good walking place.
Sherry, glad to hear you are OK, I was worried when you didn't post yesterday. It's wonderful that you have such a wonderful friend that will and is capable in taking the time off like that to help a friend. That is one special friend. Glad the Morphine was able to let you rest.
Joyce, Indiana0 -
just checking in.... Wow every time I come around there is 200 posts! I feel a bit "out of the loop" but my eating has improved! Down about 8 lbs since the new year, so I am proud of myself about that. The downside is that my stomach is giving me grief. Just eating a lot of veggies I am thinking. Also I am drinking more water, and haven't been sleeping the best over that. It's a give and take thing I suppose and peeing more is the downside to drinking more. Water in water out, my life is water, I am made of water, and (of course), its raining out. Go Figure!! Going to maybe go to the KOA and partake in their hot tub!
Yesterday we went to a food bank and had the best time. Got some great items! I rec'd a bag (as big as my pillow) of spinach, so I have that in our outdoor balcony storage closet, because my refrigerator laughed at me saying, "Heck that ain't food its a pillow!" The thought of eating it all up kind of makes me nauseous, but I will give it my BEST EFFORT. Rec'd a plastic container of yellow apples, so I gave my neighbor half of them, along with a large family size salad kit. So, what does she do? Well, she gives me most of the little chicken she had warming that she bought from Costco. I think the barter system is the best thing ever! I have taken off all the white meat, boiled the carcass, poured it into an ice tray (that is nicely warming my freezer probably) and have two other containers of the broth. I plan on making some great chicken soup, to give to her.
Rec'd a call from my eldest sister today. She and her fiance' have moved to Heffner Oregon, living in a rental until they get a house. She is such a sweetie, and we both "vented" about our middle sister. It's such a comfort to converse with her, because there was a time when we didn't. We both support each other, a feeling of perseverance to know that she is there for me, that we are there for each other. We are both saddened by our middle sister's avoidance of us, not wishing to be a part of our lives. We just morn her, who she used to be before alcoholism took her from us. I still call her periodically, keep the mental door open for her, but its draining. I shall be thankful I have my big sister to confide in, and leave it at that. Oh and I have you all (((((hugs))))))!!

Good evening ladies. Anyone have a good recipe for pizza crust made from cauliflower? Have heard several people say it is good. Going to look at a different gym tonight. The cleanliness of mine seems to be going downhill lately. They are having a high turnover of employees lately too.

Hi gals. I am heading to bed soon with a terrible headache. I don't know why these awful days just keep piling up at work. I run from one commitment to another and today spent almost 2 hours dealing with a "problem student". She rambles on and on and on and twists things and changes things so much by the end of it I'm not even sure what my name is. My co-teacher and I decided to always meet together with her because this happens to her too. So at the end of the day both of us went home totally confused. We are going to have to regroup and figure out how to handle her.
I see so many lovely pictures here and I love seeing them. I read everyone's posts and am sending healing hugs to those who need them . May keep one for myself; I'm still coughing after all this time. Ok, well maybe a good night's sleep will help. Take care Meg from gloomy Omaha1 -
Re: I am a person who doesn't like to be cold and wet at the same time, but I can't help wondering whether swimming would be okay for your knee. If you enjoy swimming, ask your doctor. If not, don't worry about it. :flowerforyou:

Sharon in Lethbridge: I have hopes a kidney will be found for your brother. I just double-checked and my driver's license shows the world that I'm an organ donor. If I am killed in some sort of accident I want as many of my parts to be donated as are needed. Now that we're getting older we may not be as desirable for donations as a younger person but most of my parts are working just fine. I hope that others are making the willingness to donate known & the driver's license seems to be a good way. (((HUGS, PRAYERS & HOPE)))
Lisa: I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. I hope things go forward smoothly.
ljdw99: Sending good thoughts for your DH. My FIL had prostate cancer for decades and was well past 90 when he passed away. Most of those years he was symptom free and had a good life.
Margaret: I started using Bragg Organic Raw Unfiltered Vinegar to treat my own acid reflux after Mary recommended it. I tried to drink it as she suggested it, but couldn't make myself drink it regularly so I use it as the basis for salad dressing. It really does help. :flowerforyou:
Charleen2: I do all of my logging on my cell phone and it gets recorded on MFP even when I've been away from home & outside my phone company territory for awhile. I'm not sure how and why, but it works. I haven't actually travelled to a foreign country during the time I've been using MFP. Maybe Heather can provide some advice.
Barbie: Thanks for he link to resetting the counter!
I need to get off of this post and do some reserarch on auto maintenance. Have a great day & I'll talk to you soon

evening ladies~
A quick hidee ho..
its rainy and cold here tonight, and I was coming home from work and stopped at a 4 way stop and i couldnt believe my eyes here was a car leaning precariously on the guardrails.. another car had stopped but he hadnt gotten out of his car(patient of ours) so I went over with my flashlight and called out hello are you alright and she said yes but im wet..
the car was on the guardrail and over a culvert so she opened her door I am guessing and slipped out and when I got there she was standing in the water under a running car..
another car had stopped by then and called 911.. so I just tried to talk to her and keep her calm.. then the police came and one of the fire dept guys and they helped her out from underneath her car..
seems she had been down to a local restuarant and she told them she had a glass of wine so I had a blanket in the car got that to wrap around her and the fire dept came after that.. they had it under control so I left.. but that was one heck of a way to end the night..7 -

Hi all,
Out of the jungle and into a lovely city called Campeche. Not that I've seen it yet, I'm still in bed. The diarrhoea is in abeyance, but I still have awful dizziness when I try to do anything. I lost over four days. DH soldiered on and met some nice people.
Katla - I went through a whole packet of Imodium and it didn't even touch the sides. Luckily I had brought rehydration sachets with me. Got through a whole box of those. I think if you have never had Montezuma's Revenge you can't even imagine it. Days of liters of water just pouring out of your backside so you can't stand up. No means of controlling it or getting to the loo in time. I've been stuffing towels into my pants for the 4 hour journeys. I am now at least able to pee and the frequency has slowed a lot. I had it before in India, which was temporarily worse, (both ends) but didn't last as long.
Lenora - Believe me, no one drinks the water in Mexico, not even Mexicans!
I am only eating the occasional banana now and one dry piece of toast. My lower bowel feels very sore. I have started to think about food, which must be a good sign, but I'm scared to eat. Ladies, over four days with almost no food! I haven't had a shower, or changed my clothes, or washed my hair. Can't stand for long enough. I'm sleeping in the same clothes as well! My DH assures me I don't smell!
I feel it is hardest on him as I just went into dog-like acceptance and only wanted to sleep.I've slept practically non stop. When I haven't been in the loo. I slept on the car journeys.
The jungle looked very nice from my comfortable bed in my hut, but in the early morning the trucks on the highway set up a loud reverberation which was quite uncanny. I had earplugs, but it woke DH up. He loved his trip to Calakmul. He's been climbing a LOT of pyramids. Not bad for 71!
I really do hope I can do some of my booked tour of Campeche tomorrow. Right now it feels impossible. This hotel is lovely, in a very old colonial house. Huge room, excellent staff. WiFi!!!!!!
I did think about salmonella, but I will see if this improvement sticks before I go down that route. Don't want to have to spend ages in hospital over here. A friend of mine was in hospital for ages.
Hope it's just the usual, ghastly, horrible Delhi Belly. You wouldn't believe how much water a human body contains!
Love to all. Thank you for thinking of me. I knew one or two of you would be worrying and then I had the bright idea of texting Penny. I have her number because of meeting up last year in Longyearbyen. Modern communication, eh! She got back to me immediately.

Heather, thank goodness, and poor baby! Sounds utterly horrible...
For those following the saga, Chicken 1's children told him they wouldn't release his money (just didn't even ask why they HAVE his money--I had a weird vibe from him from the jump). Chicken 2 came to the roost and clucked along for a half hour tour of the place today. He's already verbally offered, but seemed pleased with the overall place. Supposed to find out tomorrow if he's going to follow up with a legit offer, lay down a little earnest money, cluck, cluck cluck. He is also a local doctor (Doctor Chicken? I may have stretched my metaphor to the snapping point). And looking at it as an investment...
We shall see...
Love y'all,
Press day tomorrow, off to an early beddy bye in the House McNugget.
I sense a theme.

Hey now....
Michele - beautiful daughter and dress!! I'm guessing that is the one she picked out? It is gorgeous on her and she will make a very beautiful bride! I love the dolphin! You are so talented!
Joyce - yes, they are very special people and have been very supportive in any way they can. I am very blessed to know them. It was the first time I had to call them for help and they stepped right up with flying colors. I am so grateful for them.
Sue in WA - yes, my life has a lot of ups and downs right now, utterly chaotic. Hopefully in the near future, maybe a month or so, I will have stable housing and things will settle down.
Allie - glad that you were there for that lady, I'm sure she appreciates you and the blanket. I'm guessing she wasn't hurt, just shaken up?
KJ(Kelly) - those videos made me laugh so hard!! Thanks for sharing those!
Gloria - thanks for the info on Washington's system. Glad to know it may be comparable to Oregon.
Had a nice nap this afternoon and woke up refreshed. Must have really needed the sleep cuz I slept like a log. Think I will go wander into the kitchen and cook myself some dinner. Yak at you all later.
