Oh Peach, sorry you didn't make anymore money on what you love to do. My parents loved refurbishing antiques but just couldn't sell what they did. They couldn't make any money on that either. Their dream was to have an actual antique store instead of having a booth at local craft fairs. A booth for antiques was usually several table space worth and each table cost whether they had an actual table or just the space to have a table. So all of us kids got what they worked on which was wonderful.
Where my physical therapy is is at a corner that at the time school is let out is a bear to get out into the traffic. So today I parked at McDonalds and walked 1/2 block. It got me walking plus I resisted buying anything when I got back to the car.
Heather, glad you are a titch better today. Maybe tomorrow you can get out and there will be sunshine. How much longer do you have there???

Just returned from my 5-year follow-up with the oncologist and got an all clear! What a wonderful feeling that is. I don't have to go back now for a whole year! So exciting.

Tracie in Wisconsin13 -
Leigh in France – I’ll have to find the picture of his great-grandfather; as I remember it has his name and place (of what, I’m not sure). His Granddaddy was only 6, I think, when they moved to Americus. I will do some checking.
NYKAREN – Happy birthday and bit early; same to your DH; and Happy Anniversary, too!
Allie – With a crane, probably. Tell him you were just ‘checking on him’. LOL! No ? No caring about someone you 'helped'?
Katie – GREAT! Isn’t it a ‘great’ feeling?
Margaret – My 3rd grade teacher was seriously schizophrenic. I don’t remember much about her class; because I spend most of the time standing outside the door in the hall; there were other 3rd graders, from other classes, who were out as well. One reason I have a serious case of Arachnophobia is because of her. We were NOT allowed to get out of our desks, for any reason. So the spider dropped down from the ceiling and crawled up on my arm and bit me. I did not get ‘out of the desk’ (my feet never touched the floor). I crawled up in my seat and screamed ‘bloody murder’. She came over and I showed her the bite; but, did she care? NO, she ‘literally’ slapped me ‘out of the desk’. That is my only memory of 3rd grade.
Tracie – You’d be better off to come to the 3rd or 4th page before it ends; and, read the others 2 or 3 extra at the time. It’s hard to do; but, I had 4 days to read through my Daily Bible to catch up; but, the story lines sort of prevents me from ‘skipping over’ pages.
Betty – We’re very thankful to be ‘ok’, too; we were right in the thick of things; but, I think the bigger one either sucked into it … lifted it, or sent it north of us.
Heather – You think it might be your appendix (if you have it still)? Don’t take your shower unless DH is home with you. Even though we have a seat in our shower; most of it holds shampoo, razors, shaving cream and such. I can bounce up against the wall of it and Louis will come in and ask me ‘if’ I am ok.
Once, I had a seizure in the process of trying to step out of my son’s bathtub. It was further down to the ground like a lot of trailers; and, I misjudged the distance and tumbled down, shower curtain and rod and all; but, I did not hit my head on the toilet. They had just come in from hunting. Louis asked me WTH happened?
Carol – I have a Christmas tree that Mother made about 55 years ago. She got a big cone of Styroform and covered it with some green (sort of looked like suede); glued it; then glued jewels from old jewelry and glued them on; she took short pins and stuck little beads on it between the jewels. The gold rickrack around the bottom; and, gold cord was wrapped around the tree and pinned in various spots. Then she stuck an ornament shaped like a multi-point star into the top of it. It’s a bit faded; but, I still put it out at Christmas.
Tracie – That is a good feeling, I’m sure!

Heather~ so glad you are among the living again.... hope the scripts help heal you fast..
Tracie~ what a wonderful feeling to be in the clear!! congrats..
I am just home from work, our full time Dr has been out with the flu, let me tell you we are wiping things down with disinfectant wipes to beat the band...
Tomorrow is my eye exam- but can't afford the glasses for a few more weeks, so will see if 1- I need a new script which I think I must because I am getting a headache from doing alot of computer work.. will see what I will be able to get..
also going to a dear friends house for tea tomorrow after the eye exam...
also will have to look for suction cups for windows.. the window feeder I have finally gave up the ghost and I love watching the birds... can't afford a new feeder2 -
Heather: It sounds like the doctor gave you reasons to hope & medicine so that you'll be feeling better.
Tracie: Congrats on the all clear from your oncologist. YAY!!!
I showed up for yoga today along with many other students but no teacher came. We did a bit of yoga on our own and went home. This has only happened one other time that I recall. We've gotten some things done at home that are satisfying. After a call to the VW dealer we got step-by-step guidance to install the new rear window wiper on my car. We also got a tax questionnaire turned into our accountant, and have rescheduled the second eye surgery. Yay!

Good evening Ladies!
A feel a more positive vibe coming from most of you. Heather is on the mend and Tracie got the best news! I think good health is our ultimate goal for being here.
I was very proud of myself yesterday evening and the scale rewarded me this morning. I got together with some good friends last evening to catch up. I turned down the cake, cheese and crackers, chocolate and wine in favor of strawberries, blueberries and herbal tea. This morning the scale reported that I had lost .6 lbs. That gives me a 4 lbs. loss in 3 weeks, but more importantly it gave me the incentive to keep on the program. I stopped by the mall before I came home from work and logged in 2 miles of walking. Dinner was a marinated chicken breast and cauliflower rice (Trader Joes sells if already riced in the frozen food section) which I fried up in a little garlic butter and Italian seasoning. Quite good. I think I will try the cauliflower pizza crust next. My friend gave me a recipe that she loves. That will be this weekend's culinary experiment.
I have a little over 250 calories left to eat today before I hit 1200 and I'm not eating any of my exercise calories back. I'll probably have plain Greek yogurt with blueberries a little later.
Sending love and encouragement to all.
Chris in MA
I think that on a future mall walk I'll just pop into one of the stores and try on a pair of size 4 jeans just to see if I'll ever be able to fit into them. I used to wear size 16, the pair I bought the other day are 6.

Lenora sorry about your experience in third grade. She was an example of misuse of power I mentioned in another post.
Tracie great news.
DH will be going in for major surgery in two to four weeks. They will remove his cancerous kidney. The surgery is complicated by lymph nodes so he cannot have the less invasive surgery. He is just glad he can finally get it removed. I will not take any new jobs until I know more about the timing. He may be in the hospital for as long as a week and I know it is important to have a family member to help.
I did volunteer at the Nature Center today and the topic was the voyagers that did fur trading in Northern Minnesota. They did a fantastic job. The students get many hands on opportunities. I mostly watched and then did help them make pouches they got to take home. One of the other volunteer adult knew a tremendous amount about Ojibwa history. One fact she taught me was the Ojibwa loved the color red, and they could not make a good red from natural materials. They traded for mercuric oxide which they used as a dye and as face paint. The problem is at that time they did not know how toxic mercury was and neither did the traders. That compound along with alcohol impacted their health. I could have listened to her all day.
Margaret6 -
Tracie, that is fantastic!
Chris, I don't think I've ever worn a 6. Congrats on getting back on track.
Margaret, best of luck with your DH's upcoming surgery.2 -
Margaret best of luck to your husband.
Katla I think it great you all stuck around and did yoga on your own. Most would have just left.
Chris that is amazing size 6 you go girl.
Drkatiebug I love the colorful leggings also. I have an entire draw dedicated to them. I may have a legging issue. Lol
Found a gym. So happy hopefully I will get back on track at the gym. I got some exercises to do to hopefully help with my should and ones I am not suppose to do from the doc for the time being. Have a great night ladies. Good to see all the good things going on. Hugs to any of you who may need them today.

Hello Glorious Girls!
Another exotic and exciting day... lol. The only news is that I had my annual compensation review. At least I got a minimal cost of living increase – not nearly enough to keep UP with the cost of living – but hey, it’s better than nothing – and certainly better than unemployment.
Other than that, nothing to report. I did have a delicious salad for lunch... LOL.
My knee is strangely pain-free today – it really has enjoyed the ridiculously low number of steps I have put on it in the last two weeks. I, however, am still mourning the loss of those cardio calories... I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my cover-up swimsuit – and the news from the Ortho on what needs to be done to get me up and moving, again.
Tomorrow I may be AWOL due to my visit with said Ortho – but, I will report whatever news is fit to print whenever I get a few minutes to type it up.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Pip – *waves*
Barbie – Any more news on the Pup-quest?
SueBDew – Sorry they didn’t have the part. That really is bad customer service.
Michele – I am with you... why don’t they just stop those cells in their tiny little tracks! But maybe they need them to grow to know if they are malignant or something? I hope she is ok.
DJ – LOL – The Tequila Monster... too funny.
Pialove16 – Welcome!
Kim – Sunday is generally when I do any “Special” cooking, too... something about the Sunday Dinner concept. Maybe it’s because on Saturday I am always out running around... but on Sunday I tend to have a couch potato day.
Carey – Thinking of you and healing thoughts for your eyes! Can you EVER get the tree back in the box? Mine folds like an umbrealla - and I can only get the two big sections to fit, after I opened it up the first time. I just put the tiny top section in a closet on the top shelf. Love the thought for the day.
Margaret – I can rarely drag myself away from my on-line pursuits at a decent hour. If I did, I would have no issues with sleep. :] Its always so rewarding to learn from someone who is passionate about a subject – any subject. Glad you got the chance.
Lenora – Man – school rules have changed, haven’t they? A teacher who slapped a kid, today, would face immediate termination!
Joyce – The PT people do get the better equipment than you can get “over the counter.” Sorry! Great job walking to your PT...Every extra step counts!
Grace – ON PLAN DAYS ROCK! Love the Lentil soup. Depending on the type/color of lentils, sometimes I do a curry version. Yum!
Katla – You can find instructions for anything on U-Tube... DH replaced a door mirror, the handle on the truck-bed flap and my car radio – all from getting U-tube video instructions. It’s awesome. So glad you have the re-schedule for the eye-surgery.
Mary – Good luck on your challenge!! Or rather – work hard! :] Your good work is certainly paying off! You look fantastic!
Gloria – Love you back! ((Hugs!!))
Kate – Ooooh... An NSV for sure – but ouch – having a cashmere coat that is too big... LOL. I hope you can get it altered.
Leigh – I hope you will report on whatever things are helpful as you go along! I never read anything educational – except for this thread... LOL.
NYKaren – Yep – Party all week!! And WHOOT! Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary! HAPPY HAPPY!!
Allie - *sigh* (best Southern Drawl) Bless his Heart. Hope you can find some Suction Cups...
Sarah – Thanks for the link! That looks yummy! Did you take measurements in the beginning? If not, take some now.... your lower body – from walking the treadmill – may muscle up a little – and that muscle is heavy stuff. Your scale may not move – but your measurements will tell the tale.
Karen/VA – the cauliflower pizza crust looks interesting... I will have to try it. Anything that is crispy and will hold cheese – with low carbs – is going to be a winner, for me.
KJ – *waves* Hope you have had a fabulous day!
Kay – Whoot! “Overweight” is awesome!
Carol – Bummer there isn’t a better market for the jewelry. If I had three cents to scratch together, I would get some – but, alas, I don’t. I love that vintage jewelry...
Cheri – ((Hugs!)) Bless Mitch’s Heart, too!
Rita – Jealous of your ability to do squats! My poor knees just will not stand for that. Maybe the Ortho can fix me up!
Debhutchingspei – Hello!
Margaret – I am glad your knee is doing better. Mine is loving the complete lack of exercise, too – but, I am not!
Tracie – Just read the last few pages – that will get you mostly caught up. Glad you are able to keep the weight moving with your foot in the boot! Gives me hope. Congrats on the all clear! I know that must be so relieving for you!
Jolenec1 – Hello! Try not to be too hard on yourself... It’s water under the bridge now... Time to move forward with purpose...
WallyAmadeus – Welcome! I like your resolutions. I imagine we could all use a little joy and peace.
Yvonne – Fingers crossed for your greyhound! And if you haven’t done it yet – take measurements... I promise – on those days when you are saying saucy things to your scale, the measurements may sweeten your temper.
Betty – Hope you can get some sleep tonight!
Anne/WI - *waves*
Heather – So glad you are getting some relief. I am sure a shower will go a long way further into making you feel more human. ((Hugs!!))
Chris – EXCELLENT!! They say Success Breeds Success! Keep it rolling... you got this! I am betting you will be wearing those size 4’s in no time!

Hello My friends,
A quick check in to let you know I'm still here and still reading.
I finally went to the gym for the first time this year. With all the work I've been doing at my friend's house I just haven't made it. It was so nice to get back and I even joined a class in process that was teaching newbys how to plan their workouts and use the equipment. I figured a refresher wouldn't hurt. I'm ready to get back with it so wish me luck.
I wish you all the best in whatever is going on in your lives.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

Good evening MFP friends. Been a good day for me. Went to weigh in and lost 1.6 and I actually thought I had gained. Also went back to my old hairdresser and she was able to rescue my hair from the "worst haircut ever". Almost looks like it is suppose to look.
Heather-I am still worried about you. I hope you get to enjoy some of your vacation.
Tracie - that is awesome news. Good for you.
Mary- will measure and weigh on Saturday.
All for now.
SueBDew in TX4 -
Hi all,
I had a shower and washed my hair , changed into something decent, put on some makeup and went to the hotel restaurant for dinner.
I managed to have a bowl of chicken broth, sharpened with lime and a few bits of chicken and shredded tortilla in it. Two small bread rolls. Yeah! Still a bit dizzy, but I'll continue with the anti dizzy pills for a bit.
This really is a lovely hotel, but there is hardly anyone here, which is great for us. We were alone for dinner.
Tomorrow we are off to Merida, with me having only seen Campeche out of the car window when we arrived.
DH has shown me his photos and given me a catchup, so I feel as if I've seen it.
Tracie - That is great news!
Dr Katie - I well remember that lovely feeling - I am not obese! :drinker: I hated seeing it written on the doctor's screen.
Katla - Things seem to be coming together. Let's hope all goes swimmingly this time.
Well folks, time to take my next batch of pills!

Hi all!
I got behind on the posts so quickly read through.
Sounds like many of you have much to celebrate - weight loss, pre-tracking, and cancer free!!! Yeah!
Some of you need a big hug today so here it is - HHHUUUGGG!
I had an eye exam today and my doc said I am an anomaly. Seven years ago my right eye was 20/250 and today it was 20/20! Of course it bums up my reading so I need a new prescription! ARG! expensive! After the appointment I met one of my best buddies for lunch and a little window shopping. Tomorrow starts my work week.
Night, Night!

Hello Ladies, I have a question, perhaps someone else has had this problem. I bought a fitbit and started wearing in on Monday. I immediately noticed that my number of steps was low. I counted my steps several times during the day and checked the fitbit and it only recorded about 1/2 of my steps. Anyone know how to fix this? I'd appreciate your help. Thanks much, Rose in LA0

Did 1 hr on the bosu today. The plan for tomorrow is to do Joyce Vidral's Fat Burning Upper and Lower Body DVD.
We had the Newcomer board meeting this morning. It was a long meeting. Bought gas, had to go to Newcomer mailbox, came home and got dinner ready, ceramics tonight, then to Lowes Foods then Lowes Hardware. Tomorrow I'm volunteering at the Green Room then we have Newcomer bowling at night.
DJ - yes, that is the one she picked. It originally doesn't come with the sash/jewels around the waist but they can add that (for a charge). I think it just adds something to the dress. Thank you for your kind words about my bigger dolphin. Right now I'm working on a bee.
Welcome everyone new and those returning!
Lenora - can't you get a generator in case the power goes out? Re: Denise's dress, see my response to DJ
Grace - your soup sounds wonderful!
NYKaren - happy birthday and anniversary
Sarah - what would happen if you didn't coat each layer of the filo with butter?
Karen in VA - how many calories are the pizza bites? sounds really interesting. I've had pizza (cauliflower crust) but only a larger pizza and would have liked something smaller.
drkatiebug - woohoowoohoo
Carol - you'll get to the smaller size
Tomorrow is Lynette's birthday. I made a chocolate cake with lime frosting for Vince so I'll give her a piece
Yvonne - I carry a donor card, too. Same as you, I figure ... why take it with me, why not help someone. God will certainly understand
Betty - thanks for your concern about Jess. I know she's trying to be upbeat about it, but when she told us I could hear the worry in her voice. We were going to spend Sunday with Denise and then head home, but instead we felt we needed to stop at Jess'. That was more important than just hanging with Denise. Not that I don't love Denise. But we had gone shopping Saturday and Jess (we felt) needed us - even tho she didn't say so.
Heather - what tribulations! You poor dear Update: you sound so much better
Tracie - what wonderful news!
Margaret - prayers for your husband
Re - how right you are that you can find instructions for almost anything on uTube. Vince found how to replace the belt on the tractor and lots of other things on there. LOL "bless his heart"...LOL

Tracie, what wonderful news. You must feel so terrific right now.
Heather, you also had a great day. A shower AND some light food!!! I hope you can enjoy the rest of your vacation just a little bit.
Margaret, hope your husband has a successful surgery and recovery. It's a tough surgery and recovery. But he has a fantastic cheerleader and caregiver at his side.
Went to choir practice. I don't know what it is about singing that makes your back hurt more than it hurt before. I try not to hold notes out as long as they are supposed to be since I know that would hurt. I try not to sing loud since I know what that would do. Only thing I can think of is just the sitting but I am sitting on my Forever Comfy and have the lumbar support behind me. Our pianist was back. Her husband died about 10 days ago and she has MS which his illness and death had taken a toll on her. She was hoping that the music director would be easy on her but Nancy was a little harder than usual. she usually is a very patient on both pianist and organist and all us singers. But I guess she had a bad day today.

SNOW and ICE is not nice
Well (boring) we continue with snow and ice removal. Today hubby and his hired hand are moving nearly 3 feet of snow from our roof, our remodel and the greenhouse. We’ve got a chinook moving through and temps are already up to 30 today - and expected to be 40 tomorrow with rain and ice ice baby! To protect our roofs, the snow has to go. With rain the weight of the snow is 5x10 times its weight.
At work with a tummy bug yesterday and home with it today - - whatever it is - its going through - fast!
6 people have quit our clinic in the past week - we are used to heavy turnover in the Spring after folks from the lower 48 have spent a winter or two up here and call it quits, but this is unusual. I get sad/mad when we lose great hard working people and those are the ones our manager seems to scare off the quickest.
Well 3 little weenies keep crawling in my lap trying to get me off the computer
Working backwards from the most recent posts; (i have a bit of catching up to do)
Margaret - the nature center gig sounds great - history is fascinating! Best of love/luck to your DH with his surgery.

Sharon Leth - keep working that no sugar plan - i’m anxious to find out how you like it and what kind of results you are achieving - i want to compare notes with the starch plan
Leigh France - portion sizes can be problematic - great that you keep trying - food in France must be a delight not to mention the world class wines!
Lisa - I hate women’s sizes too! Buttons that buckle, pants that won’t do up - you are an inspiration for me to keep moving and keep losing
Sharon Leth - that comic find was very interesting! I hope your brother finds a donor soon.
DJ in SC - oddly enough the snow was unusually heavy - usually fluffy up here - I hear you about your back - I blame mine on moving antique furniture for my mum for years and years!

The villages here suffer too in the winter time (any time really) anything can interrupt the ships/barges carrying conex full of supplies - your walk sounded wonderful - as are the aurora borealis since sept last year - wow! I included a link above. There are some terrific photog’s with pages on FB too - with video! Love it!!!
Mary Min - YOU are always a great inspiration!
Nancy D - Coral Springs - one of my best buds from work just moved down there in Nov and it looks terrific - beaches pool hottub sunshine daily - looks idilic!
Charlene Col - glad you got a lot out of your retreat
Grace Tx - emotional eating - my problem also - i’m using weight loss hypnosis apps from itunes plugged into my earbuds at night while I sleep - its helping i think
Lenora - I love writing too - English was a fav in school and I find I can express myself much better, more thoughtful etc. You write very well - I enjoy reading what you have to say. My mum had a rapid evolution type of dementia in her senior years. Much of the middle age dementia I’ve read about coincides with elevated blood sugar and cholesterol levels.. The theory is control those and control the dementia. The Nun study was really interesting http://www.nytimes.com/2001/05/07/us/nuns-offer-clues-to-alzheimer-s-and-aging.html
Juliana - muscle martini sounds great - but i’ll take mine vodka with huge olives please!
Cheri Tx - so glad you got your luggage back and in tact
Calmrose - where are you wearing your fitbit? That can make a difference - i had mine on a pendant (no good) then switched it to the waistband of my clothes (better) then on the tongue of my shoe (much better!)
Re - best of luck at your Ortho appt

I find that my Fitbit is pretty accurate - I wear it on my wrist - and I have told Fitbit which wrist I am wearing it on... the only exception is grocery shopping... If you hands are on the cart - your feet kind of glide... and you get NO steps at all during. Your arms have to move when you walk - or it doesn't register as a step.
