Good Afternoon Ladies~
Well Taliah's First Communion was lovely even though Kyle(Tals dad) didnt show up till the last minute... and my Ex came down with fever and chills and couldnt make it ..got some real cute pictures..
then found out that my best friend and her hubby ,and the rest of there family were up.. my best friends son is in the air force and will be getting out the end of the month.. well Sue and Bob drove up from N.C. with him and the rest of the family all came to Ct. went to the local bar where my other friend was playing(best friends brother) and brought Evan.. meanwhile Evans sister Lindsey had Amy (Evans girlfriend) with her and came in and suprised her with Evan, and then he got down on one knee and proposed... well darn if I missed out on all that.
But we got together with some of the crew this afternoon at the local park, I was able to spend an hour or so with them..Amy(Evans Fiance) graduated from College today with her Masters in Nursing Management..
so I am pooped.. but happy..4 -

High point of my day today was going out to breakfast with our friend Sue (Suebdew). Also got to meet her daughter, Lisa, who lives in a community southeast of me. Sue was in town for her grandson's graduation. She looks waaaaay younger than her 77 years, and has amazing vitality. When I asked what was her secret, she replied "I keep active and try to live every day fully". Then she shared some stories of when she nearly passed away, an experience that changed her outlook on life.
Speaking of keeping moving, my condo gym is switching from traditional locks to a timed key fob. Next week will be the final week I will be able to let myself into the gym at my preferred time of 5:15 AM. The new timer will not allow entry until 7:00 AM, so I'm going to need to find another gym because I'm too much of a creature of habit to change my workout time. WAAAAAAHHHH.

Pip: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Rita: I hope things improve day by day. (((hugs)))
Lanette: Dogs do seem to have a good life. We think their lives are free from worry and chronic fear. I wonder whether that is true. I hope so.
Mia: I am happy that you told us about the Heart and Sole race in Chelsea. What a great way to contribute to something positive. Congratulations!!!
Rori: You are the BEST! Congratulations to both you and Sue. Sorry about the new restrictions on the workout gym at your condo. If I were you I'd complain loudly and long. (Sometimes the squeeky wheel gets what it needs.)
I went out to the stable today and watched a horse chiropractor in action. She did great work and the horse was so much more comfortable inside it's own skin. I could easily see how much pain had been released. The horse is obese, and her owner is a feeder. I don't foresee a speedy end to the problem. At least the horse is feeling better today. I liked the chiropractor. She is licensed for horses AND people, but enjoys working with horses more. I can understand that.

I'm home safely from a beautiful and fun day--ferry rides, driving through beautiful scenery on a lovely sunny day, a meeting with interesting people and thought provoking topics. One of the attendees was a youngish woman who lost 90 pounds after WLS and has kept it off for two years. It was interesting to see how and what she ate.
Got up at 3AM so now it's time for bed.

Call me crazy but I love to see other people happy and succeeding .
Good Evening My Dear Friends,
M, I am sending healing vibes for you to feel better fast. Gentle (((Hugs)))
Heather, I have to laugh because you sound like me. First you were afraid that your DDIL would feel that you were moving too close…..now you are worried that she is unhappy you won’t be moving. You know things will work out fine. Just make it clear how much you love being there with the grands and to ask any time they want/need you and life will be grand for all concerned. (((Hugs))) *Gosh I’d love to get to meet you one day!!!*
Lisa, so happy your DH is back to somewhat of a normal life. *whatever that is?* I have to agree with you that anything that sounds like a “diet” with anything other than normal foods in healthy amounts just doesn’t work for many of us. I was so shocked when my bff’s doctor put her on one of those “diets” where you order the food. How normal is that? I hope she keeps the weight off. I also agree that whatever works for someone is great but I know what doesn’t work for me.
Chris, sorry it’s too hot there. Congrats on the skirt being too big. Don’t ya just love that!!!
Dana, that picture of the snow in May “just ain’t right”, as they used to say back home. Lol The 10 years we lived in Milwaukee early in our marriage, we loved the first good snow of the year. The problem was they just kept coming for too many months. Now if I never see snow again I’d be quite okay.
Kelly, your poor son with the chicken pox. OMG. I think I had a pretty bad case and still have some scars to this day.
CarolPA, welcome. This is a great place for support and information. If you come here daily and share what’s going on with you, we can help support you to do the right thing. I never over eat that I don’t think of my friends here, looking over my shoulder and shaking their heads. Lol Good luck to you.
CathyTX, welcome to you as well. Thanks for the great intro and the pic of your beautiful furbaby. Congrats on your loss so far and keep up the great work. Both of you please sign your name to each post to help those of us that are older and trying to keep up. Lol
Pip, so happy for you to have a windy day yesterday. I do remember from years before that you love riding in the wind.
Margaret, I have to hand it to you for doing what you do. I have so much more patience now than I did when I was younger but not for what you put up with at school. Thank goodness for teachers like you. (((Hugs)))
Mary, Go Mary, go Mary….your workouts still amaze me.
Katla, the hours chiropractor sounds very interesting. Glad you are going to watch. (later) Very interesting.
Dana, cool window. And Dolly looks soooo comfy!!!! I love the color of paint you chose for the bedroom.
Allie, sorry you missed the proposal but glad the christening went well.
Rori and Sue, love the picture and that ya’ll got to get together. Sue who is your wise looking friend that I thought was in your lap. Lol
Barbie, glad you had a good day. Hope you sleep well. I went to the Moose to help fold and stuff letters to prepare for mailing. I’m ready for bed too and I wasn’t up at 3. Nite nite
to all the Newbies. Come often and join in the chat. This thing works!! Please sign your post with what you want to be called. It makes it easier for us to respond to you. Also a location is great, be it specific or general. We are happy to have you join us.
I totally acknowledge that my life is wonderful and I should never complain about anything, but I guess that is just not in my nature. The mosquitoes this year are just terrible!!! We can’t even sit out on the screen porch with the dogs for fear of being carried away. But the lord is good and I can just take my *kitten* right inside the house.
Sending love, good thoughts and sunshine to all of you.
I Love you

Katla and Lanette - I think Cracker's only fear is that when either of us walks out the door and she is left behind, we won't come back. She comes to whichever one is still inside and whines and talks, like she is saying, "I want to go out and be with Daddy/Mama because I am 'afraid' they are having 'fun without me'."

Hello BarbieCat
Thank you for starting this motivation and support topic!
Since May is my first full month after a relapse/respite, I am starting off slowly. My focus is overall well-being.
My goals:
My eating plan.
My exercise plan:
Water Exercise: Started with 30 minutes for the first 2 weeks, and am now up to 40 minutes. I have also added a 30 day, squat-lunge-push-up plan that I do in the pool at about 3 feet deep for 1 lap across the pool; every day or so I add an extra repetition and after each week I add an extra set; then I do my 40 minute Water Exercise which I may break up into 20 minute sets each of water walking, water calisthenics, and aerobics once I get up to 60 minutes total.
My vitamin regimen: For overall health, lower extremity issues, for detox of liver, kidneys, for circulation.
Skin improvement: Lactic Acid based lotion to open my pores in my skin for chicken like patches on arms, scar on my calf and ankle from injuries. Continue daily facials in AM and PM.
Staying positive and keeping in good spirits.
I added a few recipes to the recipe base here as well.
Everyone have a good week!!!

Good evening!
DJ Thanks on the window and the color of the paint. It's a nice neutral color on the warm side. And Dolly, she's an expert!!
I'm going to Cheyenne next week, I just hope it's nice up there. It's been 80f here in Arkansas.
Beans is a cool name for a dog. He looks sweet!
Katla I never seen a horse chiropractor before! Overweight animals suffer the same as people. I like to see horses in good condition; nice coat, no ribs showing and bright eyes! Maybe the horse is bored and just eats. The owners should exercise more and cut back the feed. I should take my own advice!!
Good night all. I was up at 5am today and sleepy!

Barbie: I had a lovely day in the sunshine today but I envy your ferry rides anyway. It has been far too long since I had one myself. :ohwell:
DJ: Beans is a cutie!
Today was gorgeous. I went out to the stable and watched a horse chiropractor do her work. I was very much impressed with her and with how much she was able to accomplish to ease the pain of the poor horse. After I got home I took the dog for a walk in the sunshine and a swim off of the boat dock at the end of the road. The dog swam & I watched. He really enjoyed the swim & I enjoyed watching.

Hi I have been sort of missing in action for part of May. I was working a lot and just ignored logging in or keeping a food diary. I noticed that it definitely made a difference in the negative sense that there was not any weight loss, and I felt more stress and fatigue from not exercising! So, back on track starting today, and best wishes to everyone on their journeys. Thank you for your inspiring posts.4

My husband and I went for a short walk up and down the path next to one of the local beaches. It was a nice evening for it ... not too cool, not too windy, and HUGE waves! Some of the biggest I've seen on that beach. They were great!
That was was 1.8 km + walking to grocery shop would have amounted to about 2 km. That's usually an amount I can walk with no difficulty whatsoever ... but this time it was about all I could manage. Still, that's better than nothing. And it was nice to get out into the fresh air.
I'll be sitting doing homework for the rest of the evening.

We got back from our trip last night. It will take me a while to see what I have missed.
We had a lovely time sightseeing and eating. I thought a lot about my choices, took small portions, skipped a few of the desserts (not all!), had a salad where possible, and limited my wine intake. I still managed to eat some lovely food. I did realize how many calories I would have cheerfully packed away in the past. I am pretty sure that I gained a couple of pounds, but will know for sure during my weekly weigh-in this coming Wednesday.
My greatest NSV of the trip was participation. The past few years I have opted to wait while others took long walks or climbed stairs to see special sights. This time I took part in everything. There were a few steep hills where I hesitated, but then bucked up my courage and started up. I was rarely, if ever, winded. It felt good to be able to be part of it all.
Here I am with my husband in Crestet, in the Vaucluse region of France.

Leigh - So glad you had a great holiday! I bet you haven't put much on, if any. If you are good for the next couple of days any holiday bloating will drop off. All that activity burns loads of calories. Congrats on the NSV! I love your blouse. That's the kind of thing I like to wear on vacation. No burning from the sun, no need to smother yourself in sunscreen and insect repellent! I have just bought one very like it.
Having Pimientos de Padron for a starter for lunch. They are mild peppers with the old hot one as a surprise. Plus cold Turkey Burger that I cooked yesterday. Love leftovers! I mix my turkey mince with well squeezed out thawed frozen spinach, plus scallions, chilli, garlic and Worcestershire sauce, + seasoning. 100 calories per burger and heavenly! I make six from a pound of Turkey thigh mince and have two each for dinner and one each for lunch the next day. Last night we had them with roasted cauliflower and tzatziki. Plus I had to have chilli sauce, didn't I?
Going to ease myself into my memoir today. Just a few sentences.
Today is AF. Having Hairy Bikers chicken. With cavallo nero.
My arm is improving. Doing v light weights now. I have to split my rowing session, but can do it ok.
Rori and Sue - Great to see you! !!!!!! Looking gooooood!
Dana - If our house was the reason for moving it would be easier. Unfortunately we love our house, it is perfect for us, giving us both enough space to have a bit of space. Only the hall needs decorating. It's a clinical, faded white. Actually the exercise room still has its original 80s decor, but I rarely notice it. The curtains and trim are a sight to behold! We were only moving to be near the grandchildren plus to have more access to activities and facilities. More fun. But I expect it would be just the same as when I lived in London. I spent most of my time in the house. The thing I missed most when I left London was the art galleries and museums, but I rarely went out in the evening. Brighton is fabulous in the summer, strolling along the sea front, but we can hire a little holiday apartment for a few days at any time. Just have to coordinate it with my son's family.
In a couple of years time we may well give the market another try and content ourselves with a much smaller property. A modern, well-soundproofed apartment with joint leasehold would suit me, but I'm not sure about DH. Brighton/Hove is one of the most expensive areas of the country outside London. Normal 4 bedroom houses go for near enough a million dollars. We couldn't quite afford what we wanted without really stretching ourselves and doing a lot of renovations.
We are enjoying our lives at the moment and I'm certainly not bored! Got our cruise to look forward to.
Does anyone read Elizabeth Strout? I've just discovered her and I'm binge reading. On my 4th book now.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx

Morning, all,
Another exciting weekend around our house. With our son coming home sometime between three and six months from now, we decided to go ahead and look around at what's on the market for house-type houses (right now, we have an camper trailer behind the warehouse we own). We were just going to look, I swear!
However, this big giant house was on auction, rather than a normal sale, with the auction ending today (Sunday), and there was something pulling me to it, in ways I don't even understand myself. Our realtor, the one selling the warehouse, was still on the phone with us at 10 p.m. last night getting the last pieces of information to put the bid in through HUD, the government agency that foreclosed on it.
Apparently so far, we're the only bidder, and there's no way to know if anyone else will put in a bid today. Nor is there a way to know ahead of time if they'll even accept our bid--we bid quite a bit less than half of the listing price. The land value alone is more than our bid, in fact, as it's sitting on eight city lots. Sitting on one and a half of those is an old, decrepit tennis court (swear!). It's in bad shape--but great fencing if we decided to get rid of the old concrete and put in a garden.
There's a screened porch, a courtyard area, five bedrooms, with a downstairs master suite and more than one bedroom downstairs that I could turn into an office. The kitchen will have to be gutted, but the bedrooms and bathrooms are in good enough shape to live in while we remodel the rest one room at a time. And there's space to set up a kitchen where the wet bar is now while the kitchen is gutted. Our son could literally have the entire upstairs to himself--but we'd have to finish putting in the bathroom that they've got plumbed in but didn't finish up there. Oddly enough, there was a bidet sitting (not plumbed in) in the partially finished bathroom. It's like seeing a duckbilled platypus in the desert--not something you see much in West Texas.
Anyway, yesterday was a scramble to even get in the house and look, and then we had to make a decision on the spot of whether to bid or not, AND get a lender to preapprove us on a Saturday, all of which we did. (Here's the link if you want to look at more pics.) If you do look at it, all the plywood-floored rooms are upstairs. The hardwood, tile and linoleum-floored rooms are all downstairs. Some carpet to rip out, but not a lot. Hate carpet. The image of the outside of the house is below.
Last weird thing... some of you know we came back to this area, after three years away in Oregon. The house that we lived in when we were here before literally backs on this one across the alley. No joke. Weird, huh. Had to point it out to our realtor, who is the one we used to sell that house in 2010.
Anyway, we also have a great candidate coming in to look at the warehouse Monday, which has been up for sale for quite some time. Not depending on it at all--but if he buys the warehouse, we'd be able to pay off what we bid on the house and still have money for renovations. And no mortgage payments. Lots of ifs... but nothing ventured, nothing gained. We know it would keep us here for three to five years, just to get it in shape to sell, so it's a commitment, but we decided we're willing to make it. Arkansas is still the dream--but then, you need to have one, and if we achieved it, what would we dream of after that?
Such fun! One never knows...
Love y'all!
Lisa in West Texas

Good morning!
Up early and trying to decide to go to Bible study at 9am or not. Regular church service starts at 10:30am. Since my back surgery it takes me a while to get moving.
Leigh Very nice picture of you! Handsome man you have too!
I know how it is wanting to be near grandkids. My youngest DD#2 lives in Florida, about 700 miles with 2 of my Grandkids. DD#1 in Wyoming, about 1000 miles and DS in California, about 1800 miles or more. So with 10 Grandkids I'll stay put in Arkansas! I'm flying to Denver this Thursday by myself to visit. I'll rent a car and travel 80 north to Cheyenne. I'll stay with DD#1 for 4 nights. My DD will stay home to hold down the fort and take care of Dolly.
Friday and Saturday I wasn't feeling too well, so I didn't watch the calories very good. Even though I was just over slightly and I didn't exercise I feel like I gained. I don't want to get on the scale.
I just hate myself when I feel like this!!! Ugh!!
Got to go... have a beautiful day!

Happy Sunday. Just catching up with all the posts!
Rori and sue so terrific you met up, I love it.
Leigh your fitness level made the trip even better, that reminds me of one of the reasons I started mfp, so I could keep up with DH and DD and not avoid physical activities.
Lisa. I love a project and if the price is right, why not? , fingers crossed that it goes the way you all want.
So I caught some kind of virus that was going around school, starting with scratchy throat but then hit my stomach, lousy night for me so I am taking it very slow today. No walk with bff and so no thanks to a concert this afternoon. I've got to stop going and going and going!!
I have hit my goal weight but it's not a big deal cause I think it's really a flexible number. moving and logging, (not emotional overeating) is something I have to do the rest of my life. Maintaining the life style means awareness and strategy for keeps.

NYKaren- congratulations on hitting your goal! That is quite an accomplishment! I agree with you that this is and will be a life long challenge! It's nice to have a place to come and get support through out this journey!
Loving Chicago! We walked over 9 miles yesterday! My feet are sore today! I'm glad I brought my Kettlebell. It's nice to get my workout in. I'm on vacation and I'm going to enjoy sampling food at the NRA Food Show! Not worried about gaining weight. I now feel confident that I have tools to help me be and stay successful!

Rori and Sue, You both look great, fit, healthy, and happy. How wonderful that you got to meet and spend time together.
Katla, my line dance friend who has a horse makes use of the horse chiropractor often and thinks it has been great for her horse.
Bella, welcome. You have a great plan. Keep coming back here for support and encouragement.
Lisa, I hope this project works out the way that is best for you.
NYKaren, the big difference for me at maintenance is that now my clothes fit and don't have to be replaced as I lose weight. I eat and exercise the same way, I keep track of eating and exercise, and I weigh myself regularly.
Leigh, it sounds like you found the right way to enjoy vacation food and activities and still stay true to your goals. Great picture.
Heather, Bravo on getting back to writing your memoir.
I didn't log my food yesterday but I didn't go off track eating food I wouldn't normally eat or overdo on portion size. I made sure to get over 10,000 steps by getting up early to walk the dogs before we left and walking during the ferry rides instead of sitting and looking out the window at the scenery.

Rori & Sue ~ Great picture of the both of you. Two beautiful ladies.
Leigh ~ Another great pic of you and your hubby. Pretty blouse.
Lisa ~ Good luck on your bidding. Hope you get the property.
DJ ~ Beans looks like my son's dog's brother! LOL
Went to grandson's baseball game Saturday and they won. Today, another game is scheduled but it has rained so much I think it will get cancelled. The grand kids have four more days of school next week and my DnL will have 3 days of post planning. Then they are off until the end of July. I have to go to the 5 yr old's ice cream party on Monday and she will graduate from kindergarten. I will have driven up to where they live 5 times in the last 8 days. Need to move closer as this gets tiresome.

Joyce: Your Charlie sounds like a lovely man!
Lisa: Hope you get the house!
Dr Katiebug: Sorry about the ticket!
Meg: Hope you are feeling better!
Lanette: Love what you said about getting married again! I am extremely happy, but cannot begin to imagine starting over with another man, learning, adapting and all that goes with it. Your Pierce Brosnan solution sounds perfect!
Allie: Glad you weren't hurt in the fall!
Machka: Hope the surgery results will be good!
Mary from Minnesota: What great progress!
Dana: Sorry to hear about your MIL.
Penny: Love the costumes!
Janet: Hope the tornadoes did not touch your area!
