I don't think that pointing out that injecting steroids is unhealthy is the same thing as body shaming. It's pointing out that it's unhealthy.

I also don't think that pointing out that eating 500 calories a day is body shaming. It's pointing out that it's unhealthy.

Also, pointing out that smoking and eating 5000 calories a day worth of Burger King is also unhealthy? Same thing - not body shaming.

Be the best you can be for yourself - nobody else will.

I think I know now the thing that has irked me so much about certain posters in this thread in regards to body shaming. Many woman don't feel good about themselves already, even if they are at a normal weight and are eating healthy. I feel very lucky to not be one of them - I don't focus on my flaws and only on what I've achieved.

However, even though I don't subscribe to focusing on my own flaws (and I do have them), others are now doing it for me.

We as women really can't win.

but she didn't say that she said - and I quote
Women don't look good "very muscular"

    That is body shaming.

100% agreed. If I looked "muscular" I would feel a bit insulted - especially if I've worked hard to get that way.

Idk how many times I have to repeat myself, I wasn't talking about toned women. They are hot. I was only talking about women who inject themselves to bulk up like man.

Sorry I have a different image in my mind when I think very muscular

Wow. You so don't get this. If someone injects themselves to "bulk up like a man" as you put it...it still doesn't make it okay to shame their body. If you don't agree with them getting that way unhealthily, fine. But saying they don't look good because they are very muscular is a NO. If it isn't your PREFERENCE or what you are AIMING FOR....kudos to you. But implying they aren't attractive isn't okay.

It's the same as saying someone who is 5'4 and 300lbs doesn't look good...is that body shaming?

    Yes. Yay! You're getting it!

Wow. I was going to stay out of this one until I saw this. Did the OP really say that 5'6, 130lbs is fat? That's insane. And it makes me kind of sad. I'm 5'5, 138lbs and I wouldn't consider myself fat. In fact, I'd bet a lot of girls at my box are probably in the same range. This is the EXACT reason why the scale is not the best indicator of fitness and health. Throwing out an arbitrary number like that is not only rude, but it's completely misguided and a very clear window into how the OP really feels about bodies and weight. Ugh.

I am confused as to who said what at this stage. However I am 154lb in my current avi at 5 6". Not exactly fat. I am only 1lb away from being considered overweight by the BMI!

I can only assume that girl drinks lead. I'm 6'0" and 165lbs and still have a lot to lose, and I'm male. My last girlfriend was 6'0" and 154lbs and looked amazing. Unless they're actually bodybuilding I cannot begin to imagine how any female who wasn't an actual giant or at the very least had unfeasibly large breasts could be that heavy without carrying a fair amount of excess fat.

    Whoa, wait, what?

I'm 6', 33" waist, and nowhere near "muscular"...and am at 178ish. I could very easily see a relatively fit woman at 6' with more hips than I have looking great at 200.

I suspect you and I have very different worldviews.

Also, boobs. Never forget the boobs.

    Never forgot.

Just assumed that was a given...

    ...because never forget.

I love that girl! She's quite the sweet quick witted knowledgeable one.

Yeah, I find it entertaining that the girl that is body shaming and thinks people can't look good at higher weights complains about her thigh fat

My hubby is 6'2" and he was 200lbs in high school. He said he was chubby. 200lbs is on the "over weight" side of bmi for his height. Pretty sure it's better to have bmi within normal range. If you think pointing out the obvious is body shaming, then I have nothing to say.

Those "scales" are garbage. I realistically could never....ever get close to my "ideal" weight/BMI. I'd have to lose 60-70 lbs.

Guys have the natural hormone to build a lot more muscle than girls.

You were talking about your "hubby" right. Sorry, assumed your hubby was a guy.

FYI, it has nothing to do with building muscles. I realistically could NEVER get to 140-150 lbs. At my smallest I was 163....and no chance of getting smaller. The BMI index, for many individuals, is pretty unreasonable.

    Lol shuttup bri..this isn't bb.com

I needed a breath of fresh air from the test and cell tech there ;)

    That's probably for the best.

FYI lots and lots of athletic people are in the overweight BMI as it does not take into account muscle mass and was devised to measure a large number of people - not really individuals.

I'm the same height as the aforementioned husband-6'2" and I'm at 240, a solid 40 pounds heavier than his supposed "chubby" phase. I'm also the farthest thing possible from chubby.

Bmi is a ridiculous factor in terms of gauging health and body fat.

No... she was definitely jealous. You are her competition for attention from your co-workers. It was very catty on her part.

There is no need to let it bother you. In fact, don't let her find out that it bothers you because if she knows that, she will keep right on doing it.

This woman is a frenemy... watch your back!

What do you mean no difference? Yes. If you start shaming on someone's body...whether it is a muscular woman, a woman who uses steroids, or someone that it is overweight/obese....IT IS STILL BODY SHAMING! Seriously, this can't be that hard.

Sorry I didn't think people would be so sensitive. Tbh, I have never called anyone fat in my life. I thought I was just pointing out the obvious that too bulky or too much weight do not look good.

My mom told me I was getting chubby and need to lose some weight when I gained my freshman 15, I said, darn it, you are right. I didn't say, you are body shaming mom! How could you!

Well that's what I meant. If I can magically gain 10lbs of muscle, I will take it right now. When I think very muscular, I'm thinking injection not toned.

With men's muscles? What did they do? Get a transplant? If not, then I'm pretty sure they are still women muscles as they are a woman....yeah....I'll bet money on that.

I'm 5'2.75" and I weigh 180lbs. I happen to think I look lovely. Heck, I thought I looked lovely at over 200 too. My goal weight is 145. I happen to love my curves and if I didn't need to lose weight to be able to function daily, I wouldn't be. Not everyone dreams of being thin.

I just posted this to vent. I did not post it as an invitation for others to nitpick my body.

There are quite a few people on here who have had tremendous success but still have a ways to go. I would never think of telling them "Oh you still have a bit of pudge on your thighs/belly - even if you're not worried about it, I am."

Did you honestly post a topic in a public forum and not expect a response? Clearly you were unprepared for people to agree with the woman in your story and were just looking for affirmation that clearly she was wrong. This can be seen by how you graciously accepted comments to that affect and are getting upset over comments that are contrary to that.

No on was nitpicking your body, myself and a couple others merely stated that we can see where they were coming from. If this is such a sensitive topic for you, perhaps a public forum topic isn't the best location for it.

ETA: Posting a topic on body composition/weight in a health and fitness forum is an invitation to discuss the subject.

so totally agree with this ^^^^

but also feel if you are comfortable with yourself (and it's healthy) it doesn't matter what anyone else says or thinks. We all have different preferences. Just be happy with yourself.

Sure I am body shaming on women who inject themselves. I think it's stupid and unattractive(unless you are completing, then I have respect for that).

I really don't care anymore at this point.
