I would’ve loved to see that1 -
I’m just starting this challenge today so I’m going to just say that I’ll run 5 miles for the rest of November.10

I am SO not clicking on that. Googleitis is a bad thing.
@7lenny7 I like Stravistix too.
@ceciliaslater Great to hear from you!
@Stoshew71 LOLbwahahaha that's hilarious! Nicely played.
@_nikkiwolf_ Epic run streak!!
@hjeppley I hear you. I think I need a proper rest rest day. After Sunday's 24 km I walked 17,000 steps yesterday and today, including a 6 km run this morning, and my legs are sore. Runalyze says I need 2 days rest, dammit. Not sure how to cope. Whereas Garmin says training as usual. Gaah!
@rheddmobile You have been totally getting lots of awesomes from me!
@SusanDSME Love the sound of that new winter top! Tech/merino fabric at a bargain price. Do they sell online?
@HonuNui Great consistency. Hey, I brought in the AIM at Melanoma Myths/Factsheet about melanoma to work today for the tea room. We're having our first week of hot weather. People have been reading it, and the information is getting out.
@Missmissy0003 Welcome! I like your realistic and sustainable goal.
I met a parkrun Event Director a few weeks ago who is doing an Ironman in Norway in April and swimming in a lake where it will be 59 F / 15 C. Such a badass woman.4 -

beautiful pictures @Orphia
got in a run this morning. I ALMOST made the decision to go back to bed even as I approached the front door to leave the house, that's how much I wanted the run.
But it was fine. It was a slow one, I've been reading up a lot on breathing and improving oxygen transfer into the body. Killian Jornet has a small lung capacity (he's a little chap) and yet has a MASSIVE VO2 score, which can only mean that he processes oxygen well. So my target for my run was to spend the ENTIRE run breathing only through my nose. Felt weird, but that's mostly psychological I think. And gave me a bit of a headache, which is probably the CO2 hit, but interesting nonetheless.
Am away for the next few days on a course, but staying with my parents which means a) I'll need to get out of the house rather than just SITTING and b) the beach is a few minutes away.
and no, I am not taking a wetsuit and getting in the water. Just because other people happily swim in 10 degrees C doesn't mean I'm ready for that yet.4 -

@Orphia Tell me more about how you use your tools. I think I need something like that to prevent me from overdoing it as I ramp up. I don't have a HR monitor on my Garmin, but I do have one on my Fitbit. I've also been looking into a phone app called Welltory which looks promising. According to it, my night's sleep restored both stress and energy levels to a reasonable amount. Butt and hip flexors still really tired today but at least so far not as ravenous. I am going to skip the run this morning and see how I feel by the end of the day. I might give it another day of rest to try to feel more like myself again.1 -

Today's notes- Hill repeat day! Today's assignment was 14x1minute hill repeats, with recovery being whatever it took to easily walk/jog to the bottom.
I got up, and I could hear the wind howling.... Not a good sign. Turns out we had sustained 15-25mph winds, and I swear, some of the gusts got up to gale force. Anyway, I digress. I got going, ran my 20 minutes for warm up, getting in about 2.1 miles. Then the fun began!
The uphill runs were GREATLY aided by the fact that the wind was at my back, I was cruising! My "recovery" on the downhills however, well, that left something to be desired. I'm pretty sure I worked as hard on some of the downhills as I did on the uphills.... Oh well. After repeat 14, I ran home, getting in another 1.2 miles or so.
Total distance:7.3 miles. elevation wasn't much to talk about, like 370 feet, because, other than the hill repeats, it was a pretty flat run.
Have a Runderful day all!

I am SO not clicking on that. Googleitis is a bad thing.
I feel like I need a support group. It's all a bit overwhelming in the midst of this injured hip business. And it seems that men continue to get faster in thier master's years, not women. So poo to that. I love Google. My 10 year old self can ask 1000 questions a day.
Welcome back @ceciliaslater and @Missmissy0003 !3 -
HA! My Gramin just yelled at me because it is Tuesday and I am apparently less active on Tuesdays in general.0

111/21 - 5 miles @ 45° F! Way warm for November. Apparently hip issue was weird DOMS from yardwork. It was good this morning.

I love when the weather is like this, 38F and chilly but nice and crisp and clear.
Totally not running related, but I got home last night, went to the mailbox and there it was, the letter from Shorter University. Skip wasn't home and I was dying. I put it on the kitchen table and waited for her, praying oh please Lord she has worked so hard please let this be an acceptance letter. She got home, pushed the letter aside as she was babbling about her date and I said did you look at that envelope. She picked it up starting shaking opened it and started to scream, she was accepted to the one and only college she wanted to attend. Being the great kid she is the first thing she said was mommy I won't go knowing I got in was enough I can go to community college. No way we will figure it all out. Maybe this is the start of the upswing of good things.
Okay this proud mommy moment is done. Here's my link to her gofundme page ha ha kidding... sort of

Just catching up a little bit...
@skippygirlsmom - Sorry to hear about your job! Glad you feel like you have a line on another opportunity. Maybe you can negotiate some of that vacation time?
@bjderhak - I love Menchie's! I gotta wonder...are you in this group just to tell as about your nice weather and rub it in? ;-)
@amymoreorless - I'm sure you do equally nice things for your hubby. The waffles sound amazing!
@rheddmobile - Welcome! You'll find many of us have some less than stellar health history. Congrats on the 109 lb. loss already!!! We all started somewhere...running is addictive!
@JessicaMcB - Your moose adventures are entertaining! I still freak out when I travel to places for work that have moose crossing signs. I've seen what a whitetail does to a car...can't imagine what a moose does!
@ceciliaslater - Welcome back!
@Ryokat - Generally, even in summer, I don't carry water for anything less than 10 miles. I find that, if I drink enough normally, I don't need it. I do chew gum to keep my mouth from drying out.
@MNLittleFinn - I'm not a big trail runner, but even I think you should do that one.
Finally, does anyone here have a suggestion for a balaclava / facemask that works well and breathes well? I need one for colder runs. A bit worried about the glasses fog factor, but planning to run in colder weather this year. Last year I cut it off about 15-20° F.

@karllundy - I love my Buff. It's great for either summer or winter, and you can wear it a ton of different ways (including as a balaclava). They have several different versions (polyester, merino wool, polar, etc). Here's a link to a video showing the different ways to wear:
buffwear.com/ways-to-wear4 -
@karllundy Regarding the balaclava, I use a Buff. I like how versital it is, if I get hot I can pull it down as a scarf. If it's windy I just add an extra layer for my ears, (headband).
@skippygirlsmom Kudos to Skip! Rock on girl!0 -
@skippygirlsmom That is so exciting! Congrats to Skip- I hope this is the beginning of a streak of wonderful happenings in your house0

I did the cardinal sin this morning. Forgot to stop the watch when I came in to stretch after my run. It says the last .3 miles I did took 27 minutes and made the average time for my short run at 15.07 min mile. Booo. Oh well. I had a good feeling short run this morning. Well, for the energy and breathing wise. Every muscle/bone/joint/ from my hip to my pinky toe was aching. I pushed through because it was just achy and not really pain. I am glad I did. I am not so sore now, standing here at work and after a little walk, feeling better. Taking a day off tomorrow since I have ran/swam/biked the last 6 days and then race on Turkey day.8
