I have run the 30k three times and the 50k twice... It is challenging but doable. Plus you are young and fast...lol

Not sure where you get the idea I am young from... High School was decades ago!

Someone local to me has warned us away from the 50k - recommending we do the 30k instead because the 50k is technical or something like that.

How long does it take you to do the 50k?

I did 8:11 and 8:45.... I will be 60 next week and have been running about 6 years. I will be doing training runs on all the sections of the trail every weekend unless the snow gets too deep

It is likely that the first time I see those trails will be the morning of the race.

8 hours? Hrm. I guess I will have to rethink my gear. I only ever plan for 1/2 that.

@MobyCarp – Sorry the leg isn’t 100% yet. Hang in there! We runners are the worst patients!

Got in 3 miles this morning before work. Not many people out at 5:00 am so I stuck with the well-lit sidewalks and parking lots near my work place. It was 27F but no wind so not too bad. Everyone is getting so close to their November goals – keep on keeping on!

October goal: Not chicken out and Register for Zumbro. Start training for Zumbro and figure out real mileage
    Nominal Mileage goal: 100 miles???

    11/28- 4

    Total: 108.5

Today's notes- Today kind of pushed the limits of the whole "a bad run is better than a day at work" thing. I was SUPPOSED to run a trail Fartlek today, with 10x1min at 7:10 pace. HA! That never happened. The riad to the trail was icy, and I never got the foot turnover to even get close to the speed assigned. Add to that getting turned around and having to walk and backtrack several times, plus falling, and I ended up with an hour run that was SLOWER than my easy run average has been..... ugh... total confidence killer, that's for sure....

Hoping everyone has a more runderful day than how mine started!

    2017 Races Scheduled
    6/16- William A Irvin 5k

Dang it. I have meetings and such today but it is supposed to hit 60! Be a great day for a long run... but nope, gotta pay the bills somehow... hopefully, will get out for at least 10 or 12 miles. I am at 186ish miles for the month, could easily break 200 again... With Christmas and traveling next month probably only be 150 or maybe even fewer miles... so this is my last big hurrah for 2017. Need to break miles per month pr without getting fired from my day job (as a software developer) somehow! :D

11/1 - Started month with unplanned rest day. Damn I hate colds!
11/2 - 5 miles on a perfect morning to run (43° F and little wind)
11/3 - Unplanned rest day...can't shake this stupid virus!
    11/4 - 5.1 miles.
11/5 - Planned rest day / church, etc.
    11/6 - 5.1 miles. A bit chilly for November...wind chill was 19° F.
    11/7 - 5 miles. A little warmer today.
11/8 - Overslept and didn't have time to run :-(
    11/9 - 5 miles. Wind was brutal.
11/10 - 3.4 miles on treadmill, then upper body weights.
    11/11 - 4.7 miles.
    11/12 - Rest day.
    11/13 - 4.5 miles.
11/14 - 5 miles. Warm enough to run in shorts!!
    11/15 - 5.1 miles. Again, shorts and a long-sleeve shirt! It was almost 50° F!
11/16 - 5 miles on treadmill / Trek class, then upper body weights. Trek class kicked my *kitten*!
    11/17 - Rest day.
11/18 - 3.4 miles on treadmill. Then upper body weights / abs.
    11/19 - 5 windy miles.
11/20 - Woke up with some crazy pain in my right hip / glute. Not sure if I pulled something or what. Took some anti-inflammatory medicine. Hope I just need to rest / stretch.
11/21 - 5 miles @ 45° F! Way warm for November. Apparently hip issue was weird DOMS from yardwork. It was good this morning.
11/22 - 3.4 miles on treadmill. Then upper body weights / abs.
11/23 - 5 miles. Turkey Trot with two of my kids, two nieces and SIL. The weather was gorgeous and it was fun!
    11/24 - Rest day.
    11/25 - Too much pie!
    11/26 - 5 miles.
    11/27 - 5 miles.
11/28 - 5.5 miles. It was 51° F! Global warming is bad for the planet, maybe good for running. I wore shorts and a t-shirt...on November 28!

4 miles yesterday and a beginner crossfit class. We did the sandbag workout and while I’m not nearly as strong as the other girls I kill them on endurance

I’m definitely sore today, when I headed out for 6miles I wasn’t sure I’d be able to finish. Thankfully around mile 3 I started feeling pretty good and finished.

It’s a beautiful day today- sunny and 65!

@MobyCarp I’m sorry to hear that 3 days rest wasn’t enough to help with the leg running wise, but that is it feeling better than it did. Ugh on the rock vs quarter panel. It always makes me sad when a good person isn’t having good things happening to them.
@garygse ditto on the comments I made to MobyCarp – sort of the rock thing. Glad it’s getting better. Thanks for the input on the RoadID, their customer service is the bomb. I contacted them to sponsor a track meet we do for the elementary schools that feed into our high school. They were in the middle of revamping their sponsorship support and had to decline but sent me coupons for 50% off for each kid (over 300) and for the coach’s coupons for a free RoadID (10 of them). I was impressed if that was there “non” sponsorship support.
Ha ha @juliet3455 I’ll have to talk FF about a sponsorship. They give gift cards at races and Skip declined to take hers yesterday. It’s a gray area with the NCAA that we have decided not to test. FF takes good care of us, we get 15% off every purchase and the $25 good customer reward so we can’t complain. Our reward was actually expired over the weekend, but they gave it to us anyway. So we got the gift card in advance.
@LaDispute57 keep watching this thread and any day now there will be a link for December.
    @amymoreorless sounds like great weather!
    Thanks @PastorVincent
    @Stoshew71 great come back month.

@Orphia Love the llama/alpaca! We visited our local llamas a few weeks ago.

I got my Fēnix yesterday! WHOO this thing is smart! Lots to learn about it.

    ybrajihharwh.jpg
Loving it so far. I'll try to take it out today at lunch for a few miles.

I missed a streak yesterday... I'm struggling. I'm just depressed I think. Or maybe it's this hormone change. I just have zero get up. I just don't care about anything. That with this hip business and Alex is struggling. Poor kid was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and he's suicidal. He's still off with the army, but he's in the process of medical discharge. Currently hospitalized, again.

So just farts... (Idk why "farts" is my cuss lately) . Just farts. Kitten farts- whooo thems is bad!!! Haha!

How do you shake it off and keep going? I'm reminded about an interview with Jakie Chan, "don't think about it and just do it" when asked about his stunt performances... Life right? Just keep moving forward and don't dwell. That's my plan. Focus.

@skippygirlsmom Thanks and congrats on you and Skip last night, and Skip's scholarship.
@PastorVincent A late congratulations on your 2 PRs this past weekend.

I know I skipped a bunch of you other people doing great things this month. Keep it all up.
I will post December's Challenge in the next couple of days.

@Elise4270- Hugs to you. So sorry to hear about all that you are dealing with. I am feeling much the same way these days, but my problems are nothing compared to what you are going through. FWIW, the mantra of "Just Do It" has gotten me through a lot of my training, but sometimes it's easier said than done. Life is a roller coaster of highs and lows, and sometimes we just have to accept when we are in a low period and have faith that a high is just around the corner. Try not to be so hard on yourself. You will make it through this stronger than ever, I am sure, because that's who you are!

@skippygirlsmom FF is a great company. My local one gave me my reward once despite it being expired and me not even knowing I had it. I would shop/run there more but it's at minimum a 40-minute drive (minimum meaning zero traffic).

I spent my Monday off signing up for three races, a 7k trail race next month, and the 5k and 10k for the rock n roll in January. If I like the 7k, I plan to do the series next year (3 races in spring, 3 in fall). I have been looking at the series for about 3 years so I need to pull the trigger. Plus you get so much swag!

    11/4 2.35
    11/5 3.0
    11/13 2.5
    11/23 2.6
    11/26 3.2
    11/28 2.5

Total 16.15/20 (so close! but I am going to fall about 2 short - I have 2 miles scheduled for Thursday)

ETA: Need to see if I can replace the spigot on my hydration vest. I could barely twist it open/close while running today. It was a pain in the *kitten*. The whole point is ease while running! LOL
