Did yoga today and seemed like I did better this time. They had a guided meditation after class which I would like to have stayed for but dh was waiting for me.

Did Micah Hudson's Quick Fit DVD. The original plan for tomorrow was to go to the water aerobics but it's supposed to get warm today (the snow will melt) but get really cold tonight (what melted will freeze) so I doubt I'll go. I've decided to do a Peak 10 Cardio Interval DVD instead. Update: I think I WILL go to the water class. I'll just take a different route on a street that doesn't have many trees at all.
Made this cake for Vince last night. Made a lemon cake and poked holes in it and put chocolate pudding in the holes. I did find out that I need to make the holes larger so the pudding will go into them. But it was a good learning experience. This morning I made icing for the cake (was that hard to ice). I'm trying freezing and see how the consistency is of the chocolate cake that I made for Rummikub the other night. Now I'm defrosting a small piece to see if the consistency stays the same. I'm leaving a piece in the freezer for a few days to see if the chocolate pudding will bleed thru the Cool Whip. When I left it in the refrigerator, after a few days the pudding bled thru
I was supposed to volunteer at the Green Room today but I called them -- no answer. So I left a message saying that I could get there if they needed someone, but I won't go now since I'll probably get a locked door. The one gal called me back saying that she probably won't get there until around noon. So I told her to keep it in the back of her mind that if she gets there and needs someone, I can get there.
drinking alcohol - the same with me. Guess it's because I drink so very seldom. But when I do, the next day I feel so "yuk".
M - I've found that during the summer instead of ice cream I honestly prefer to have some frozen grapes. It's been a few years since I've bought ice cream for myself. Oh, I have bought it, usually for a dessert. But I can't remember the last time I bought some just for me. Like I had a coupon for a free small container of this ice cream. I thought Vince would like it but he didn't, so guess who wound up finishing it?

I just can't see myself being vegan either. I love my cheese too much. I do try to cut down on the meat, tho. Vince likes his meat and potatoes so some nights I'll have something different from him, something without meat in it

Terry in VT - the worst parts of getting snow here are 1) people have no clue how to drive in it and 2) they don't have plows and when they get one (borrow it from another community), they don't know how to use it. The roads are semi-cleared but the turns! Now that's a different story in itself

I think I forgot to mention what my comfort foods are. My hubbie knows if I am really feeling down that I need a fish sandwich from McDonalds. I also need macaroni and cheese. A hot dog used to be on that short list. It I can't find them to date like they used to. Also I need pickle relish on my hot dog and I cat always find it when I eat a hot dog from a restaurant.
Doctor's office called today and my Neurontin was changed from 100mg 3 times a day to 200mg 3 times a day. I would like to take a once a day 600mg but I know I can't.
I broke down and took a shower today. Because of the dizziness I had with my last shower, I knew I needed to have a chair in the bath tub, But with the chair in there there is barely room to take the shower. But I got it done and it makes a person feel so much better.
We have a new Olympic sport going on in our house. It's called competitive grooming. My two felines can really get into it. And it never ends well. They start out grooming an ear and they end up biting or strangling each other.

Michelle - I think Bill is trying to be cautious with the tests he is putting me through. While I find them a bit disconcerting, I can't worry about them. I'd be really crazy if I did. We'll see what is going on and then what we'll do when we find out. I think the MRI will show that I have a 'brain' so I won't have to visit OZ again. LOL! The sonogram is probably what is my biggest worry; but, maybe it will show I have a healthy live and pancreas. I'll let y'all know.

Terry- 10 minutes is great for starting the Kettlebell ! I don't ever do more than 25 minutes at the most and I'm still toning and tightening. I eat and drink whatever I want as well! Went out to lunch with a small group of line dance friends. We ate at my favorite Chinese restaurant (the one where I have the gift certificate from my line dance class). I know that there's a lot of sodium. I ordered my regular--lunch size portion of broccoli with garlic sauce and brown rice--and brought half home for supper. I don't eat out often so this was special.

So ... I decided to try making freezer jam this weekend to use up some/all of the rest of the 5 kg box of cherries in my fridge. Part of why I thought I'd better get a move-on using these things is that my husband hinted he might bring home another 2 kg box!!
They've already got over 50 tons of the things off the trees (it's not a huge orchard, only about 15 hectares/40-ish acres), so that's not a bad yield. And they're still going.
Anyway, I've never in my life made jam of any sort.

Then I went hunting for pectin. Not the easiest thing to find. I finally located two options neither of which specifies that they are for freezer jam, so I don't know how this will go.
Then I went hunting for small jars with screw on tops that I can put in the freezer. Should be easy to find ... right? Nope. At last I located some in Spotlight. I have no idea what sizes I need so I got two small and one large. I may regret that and wish I had gotten 4 small, but we'll see.
I wanted a multiple cherry pitter, but could only find a single and when I looked at it, I figure it would be just as fast for me to cut them with the knife like I currently do.
This is typical for me when I get an idea in my head and then try to find the stuff in order to execute the idea!! I think all these things should just be there. But nope. They rarely are, and I end up walking multiple kilometres to try to find them.
Anyway, I'm sort of set. I think. And I'll give it a go tomorrow.

Pam- I like the things you have planned. I aspire to some of them. What stops me? Sometimes pain sometimes procrastination.
Machka - You plan 4 months in advance? Now that's impressive.
Lenora - You have a lot to deal with. I hope you make it through all the tests without a problem. Hopefully you can get that team of doctors all working for you.
Heather and Barbie - I think the animals on our farm were well treated but a family farm is a far cry from the huge factory farms there are now. We used to treat our milk cows to music in the barn when we milked them by hand.
Rita - you are doing well on your walking, you will be at 2 miles in no time.
One foot ahead of the other. You can do this.
Lanette - I guess I also ate pretty much "organic" when I was a kid. My Dad was pretty determined that we lived healthy and took some flak for his views. His opinion was that if we didn't grow/raise it we probably didn't need it. Our chickens would probably be considered "free range" now although we cooped them at night so we could eat them instead of the coyotes and weasels dining on them.

Katla - It's a good idea to have hubby along if you are alone at the stable. Give Arrow some love for me and Stay Safe.

Michele - My brother says he fooled them and managed to stay alive. He now collects Old Age and Social Security cheques.
took Kim and Harmony to the Doctor. He says Kim should quit smoking, she has over inflated lungs. He put it in her file that she is allergic to amoxicillan. Harmony got her referral to the Ear specialist.
We went to Cora's to eat. Jheri and Keira joined us. We carried on for a walk through Marshall's. I was going to buy a book but lost my patience. One cashier and she was very slow. Not sure why the guy who was clearly the manager didn't call another cashier. They had quite a few people working but only one on cash. I try to be patient but in the end I just didn't need the book that badly. Next stop was Michael's . Jheri texted me the coupon for 55% off so that I could buy alcohol inks for her. She is having fun with them.
Kim told us that my son, Jason, is using cocaine. I don't know whether to believe her as she has lied to and about us before. I do know that I am extremely worried about him. He has not been himself and has not been engaging with any of us. I phoned our son in BC to see if he could advise me as to how to broach the subject. We will see what happens next. I feel like I live inside a soap opera. AS THE SHOE DROPS.
I managed to book our Christmas party. They have their choice of Salmon/Veal/Chicken options with roasted veggies and roasted potatoes. Now to see if we are coming up with activities/games and prizes. Trying to get the young people to take a more active part in planning/executing. This had to be done before month end as we have to have party, pay for it and report back. We get $20 person from head office however we do have a healthy bank account so the rest will come from there.
Made plans with Holly's Mom for Monday. She is very excited so that is nice.

Hi Sisters, I went for an hour's walk on the beach this evening with Honey, my little dachshund. It was her turn. I'm feeling a bit down because of my daughter moving away and various other relationship issues. I tried to fast today but was very stressed at the office and ate a little bit of comfort food. Kept it limited though, so under 500cals today and i should lose some weight still when I step on the scale tomorrow morning. I had to stay out of the house this evening though and stay busy so I wouldn't be tempted by dinner or the smell of food. I also took a walk around a lake in the middle of the day, 26 minutes and walked Jock and Major this morning for another 20 minutes. I think it's good to try to move your body all throughout the day. I still need to do my kettlebell swings tonight before I head to bed. I have to go back to the police station tomorrow to sign some papers. They know who the offenders are, two sisters, but not sure which one actually stole my stuff. They look alike and the camera pics when they used my eftpos card at McDonalds aren't clear enough to see which girl it was, the police woman told me. However, the police are still working on the case and hopefully will prosecute. My insurance company offered to pay me $38 for my stolen phone, which cost me $600 two months ago. I want to change companies but doubt if hubby will. He has security issues and thinks insurance is a wonderful thing. I think they are rip off cons! I am still praying that my phone will be returned to me! God is good and I believe everything happens for a reason. Wendy6

" ... one of the councils gave me a small heart attack the other day when they announced that they were going to remove an old wooden bridge and replace it, and that the works would take the next 6 months. I contacted the council and they told me that there had been a bit of a mistake ... they were going to replace the old wooden bridge and then remove it. But there would be huge delays, inconvenience, etc. etc. and they gave me a number to ring. I called today and they guy was really helpful. The bridge will remain open, and if there are delays they'll be short and probably not on the weekends I'm holding the events. What a relief!
So that's an example of what I plan for in my cycling world.
Then there's work, university, and life in general.
Under the category, "life in general", we go to quite a few events ... plays, the symphony, etc. Those can book out quite quickly sometimes, so if we really want to go to something, we need to book in advance. But they've got to fit in with our cycling events and training as well. Can't book a symphony on the same weekend as a cycling event! Travel fits under this category as well ... we try to get away about once every 4-8 weeks, and again, that's got to be booked at least a month in advance, and fit in with everything else.
So I'm usually planning a rolling 4 months in advance. I get my Outlook calendar going, fill in all the events, iron out the kinks, figure out what I need to do to make it all happen, and start working from there. It's kind of like lesson planning when I was taking my Bachelor of Education.

Morning ladies, planning for a successful day, food all set (and logged) gym clothes ready to go for after work. I am plugging along, still up a little in weight from the after holiday eating/snowday bingeing. But I'm back on the path, funny that I wander off the path that is my happiest and healthiest. However, that's what I did and now I just have to get back to work to get back on the main path to healthier choices.

Scale was kind. I kept at it and the water went away and took a lb of fat with it. I realized this morning I am 15 lbs away from my goal. I should make it by our 30th Anniversary in May. After that, the hard work of maintenance begins. I’m actually more concerned about maintaining than losing.

As for alcohol, I’m not a big drinker. I drink socially but gave that up when I started losing weight. I prefer to eat my calories. I’ve had an occasional glass of wine over the last 8 months. I will definitely have a couple of mai tai’s when we meet some friends in Hawaii!!
Comfort food for me is carby and cheesy. Mac n cheese, au gratin potatoes, cheese sticks, nachos, cheesy potato soup. Yum!
Stress food is anything crunchy. Chips, crackers, cookies, pretzels.
I better get my exercise going. I have several errands to run today. Have a great day ladies!

Hey all. Celebrating with you all in your victories and accomplishments and grieving with you for your losses and troubles. Just have to say, the Turpin family (kids), that have been chained, starved and abused by their parents is weighing heavily on my mind and heart. The obvious astonishment that parents could do that to their children is there; but the fact that neighbors saw "strange" things, but never reported it. Ugh! If a lesson can be learned from this for the rest of the world; all of us "neighbors". If you don't see children during the day, but see them marching or walking around the house at night, something is wrong. If you don't see kids, but peek in the window and they are all marching in circles in a room and look smaller than normal, something is wrong. If kids look malnourished, something is wrong. Call CPS! CPS is there to investigate things like this. CPS protects children; sometimes that requires taking children away from parents. In this case, if just one person had called and CPS went to the house, they would have seen some evidence of abuse and those kids may have been "saved" earlier. Ugh! Just breaks my heart!

I have my first attempt at instant pot yogurt setting up in the refrigerator after a 9 hour incubation overnight. Plan to get a yogurt strainer today as I like thicker yogurt ... keeping my fingers crossed.

Well, 4 months is about all I can plan ahead. I'd like to be able to lay out the whole year or the next 5 years ... but who knows what's going to happen. Who knows what's going to happen in 4 months! But at least if I've included and planned for what I would like to happen, it is more likely to happen.
And the moment I feel relatively comfortable with it all ... I suddenly realised that I've forgotten something that's going to take me at least one entire evening if not two! Taking down my Christmas decorations!! The end of January is getting closer so I'll have to try to get that in there somewhere.

Because I adopted a healthy way of eating and exercising, I found that once I reached my goal weight, I did very little that was different. Occasionally I skip a day of logging or eat something I wouldn't have eaten before, but basically I eat and exercise the same now as I did when I was losing weight. Just keep doing what you're doing. And if what you're doing now doesn't seem sustainable for life, start making small changes now, rather than at that mysterious line between losing and maintaining.

Sharon, I was checking out alcohol ink myself a while ago to paint jewelry scales (not the weighing scales). What does Jheri use it for? Hold off thinking Jason is using cocaine until you are sure. Does he live near by or can you contact him or have a friend contact him. I worry whenever someone stops engaging. Please remember to take care of yourself.
Wendy, can you do some research on that insurance company and see if they are reputable? If you have some evidence that they has problems you have proof that might encourage your DH to change companies. Or call other companies and see what they would have done in the same situation. Check out the Better Business Bureau. I think you can also report companies there.
NYKaren, good for you doing great planning. I’ve got to get back on track but just can seem to just do it. Got to do some soul searching to see where I’m blocked.
Kelley, I also have been thinking a lot for those Turpin kids. I feel the urge to take them in may arms and never let go. And this is a family we know about. So much abuse is right there and never seen or reported.

My husband loves scones with jam and whipped cream so he was right on board with this idea! I went out and bought all the stuff to make both ... now I just hope it all works.
I've spent my evening checking and adjusting cycling routes. I'm kind of procrastinating on my homework assignment. That course (the in-class stuff) was so intense that when it finished on Wednesday, I really didn't want to look at anything related to it for a couple days! But I did have a look at a bit of it earlier today and itemised a few of the things I need to locate as background material, so I haven't avoided it entirely. Tomorrow evening, I plan to do a bit more work with it.
