A whole Dungeness crab only has 140 calories? That's really hard to believe. And ever so delicious. I should get another one.
OK, so I finally figured out the right answer, and it sure isn't 140 calories for a whole Dungeness Crab. That's a number that was entered MANY times in the database. I fixed most of them. I couldn't fix one that has the green check box next to it for a three-ounce serving. I sent an alert to MFP about it. I bet you fifty cents the fix it.
How did I figure out the correct information (and what IS the correct information)?
I visited the Oregon Dungeness Crab Commission website. They have a page with nutritional information! A 3 ounce portion of cooked crab is 94 calories (and 19 grams of protein). Fine. I also know from experience that in general, a filled-out dungie is about 25% meat. So, that two-pound crab I picked up yesterday? That was eight ounces of meat, which would be about 2.67 3-ounce portions. But in reality, it is just ONE PORTION because.... well, if you haven't eaten one you have no idea. That means a whole Dungeness Crab clocks in about 250 calories (I am not bothering with the 0.6 calorie decimal
portion because 250 is such an awesomely round number!), or 1.8 times more calories than are in the database.
I can totally believe that a whole Dungeness Crab is 250 calories. It's 250 calories of Dungie goodness.
I'm wondering if someone took the caloric content of a Blue Crab and just applied it to Dungies. I am pretty sure the blue crabs are MUCH smaller. I can believe a whole Blue Crab is around 140 calories. Not a Dungeness!

Plain chocolate surprised me. I knew it was calorie-dense, but hadn’t realised how dense it was totally on its own without any of the “added” stuff like nuts / nut butters, wafers, fruit pieces, etc. Still delicious 😉🍫0

Braised pork belly. My very small portion last night clocked in at over 451 calories. And worth every damn one of 'em.2

That reminds me that I have a pork belly in the freezer!0 -
When I first started learning about food long ago. I was shocked at rice and pasta. I would think I was eating really good by just have one bowl when one bowl would be over 500-1000 cal. 😢1

I try to stick to whole grain versions of pasta and brown rice but still over 200 calories in 1 cup of brown rice. Stinkers.0 -

Honestly? For the flavor vs. calories, just get the small steak. It's almost as low as thier diet chicken breast option, but no one thinks of it as a "light" option because its not low-fat.1 -
I eat a lot of wraps as I thought they'd be a good healthy meal, as I can shove whatever veg in but then 2 wraps is nearly 400 cals, then there's other bits like the oil to fry the veg & then whatever sauce just switched cooking oil to those 1 cal sprays, not the same as oil but it's a healthy change I suppose. I usually make quorn with fried tomatoes & peppers with spicy seasoning & a bit of cheese then the tortilla wraps on top that's 800-900 cals, waaaat?1

Don’t laugh, but actually McDonald’s. I expected it to be bad for me, but not THAT bad! Just remembered why I don’t eat this crap! 1100 calories for a medium fry and chicken 😳😳
I actually disagree. I was shocked that 6 mcnuggets only had 280 calories! I can easily fit them in if I'm craving it.3 -
Dunkin Donuts medium coffee with cream and sugar. 190kcal - wtf??? How much cream/sugar do they dump into that thing of filtered coffee it doesn’t even tast that sweet.0

A single plain sausage biscuit I was in the habit of grabbing at a gas station before work was almost 500 calories. I could've had a full plate of bacon and eggs and toast instead.1

Coffee creamer, beer or other canned liquor beverages, nuts, bananas I find are pretty high calorie compared to other fruit, ichi ban noodles, butter chicken. Those are my some of my favourites I still fit in just smaller portions0

Yesterday a member mentioned eating a burger for breakfast. I was triggered and went searching for fast food that would provide a burger. Went to McD and they wouldn't serve me one. So I ended up at Carl's Jr and got their breakfast burger. Holy *kitten* that mother *kitten* came in at 790 calories!1

Hulu is the devil- they have the Whataburger commercial on repeat advertising their Mushroom Swiss burger, which is absolutely delicious, especially on Texas Toast. So before I went, I hit up Ol Faithful MFP and HOLY COW- 1,080 calories! Uggghhhh!!! Whyyyyy???!!! Lol2

I had a large chocolate chip cookie from the grocery store yesterday that was almost 500 calories so..🙃🙃🙃🙃1

Blueberry muffins.....I love 'em but at over 400 cals for a not huge muffin it's just not worth it when I can make a whole dinner for 400 calories and only have 1200 calories to play with.0

I wish cheesecake factory cheesecake wasn't over 1,000 calories for a slice...4

I love Pringles, but weighed out about 17g earlier for 86 calories and it was only about 8 or 9 Pringles altogether. I could easily eat most of a tube in a day.0

Oreo most stuff. Not sure why I was surprised!1

Bubba Burgers. Frozen patties are nearly twice the calories of making your own patties up from a good quality ground beef. Didn’t expect that from those flat, dry, mooshed, dessicated looking - but strangely tasty - things.1

Npeanut butter and bagels - nasty surprises.0

I had a sausage roll from the supermarket. Got halfway through before looking and seeing it was about 700 calories! The thing was only about 4 inches long!0

I picked a sausage package up at costco and the label said 250 cals (or so, I'm going by memory) which I thought wasn't too bad.
Then I saw the serving size was 1/3 of a sausage. Who eat's 1/3 of a sausage? I put it back.4 -

Yes! I used to buy them all the time until I actually looked at the package. They are good though, right?! My husband gives me the side-eye when I make homemade patties using 92% ground beef, but I Just can't go back to buying Bubba Burgers.0 -
