Pi day! Today in daycare it is more like "pie" day. Try explaining pi to a toddler. We colored our own "paper pies" and then made apple pie croissants, to be eaten at snack time. For me, of course, pi day means= Joaquin's birthday! Whoot! He is one year old today! He had his one year check up this morning (DD took the day off work) and he is in the 18th percentile for weight (he weighs a whopping 19 pounds) and he is in the 76th percentile for heighth (I can't remember how tall). So he is a long skinny little peanut!
They are spending the day (after the docs) making cupcakes, going for a walk, going out to dinner, shopping for a new toy (he is getting a dump truck filled with blocks). DH and I sent a box filled with balls. All kinds of balls, all different textures, colors, types, some light up, some glow in the dark...It will drive my DD and her hubby crazy; but I am sure Joaquin will love them! He will also be drinking his first cup of chocolate milk. The kid loves chocolate anything, so I am sure this will go over well.
BEcca and Barbie- Sending peace and comfort to you and to your hubbies as they get ready for surgery/recovery!
Peach and Terry- Love the tea kettles!
Pip- LOVE last year's biking in the snow pic! You know...if you'd shovel a few driveways, you could skip the gym!
Terry- I love new snow; but at this point, you can keep it. I am tired of winter already.
Heather- I think I forgot to mention how much I laughed when I heard about how your DYS addressed your mother's day delivery! Sounds like maybe he put a note on it that said "MUM" and didn't know the entire address?! Then forgot to write the complete address... lol Sounds like something I would do!
The sun is out today and it is just beautiful out! I wish it were warm, though. It is in the low 20's and too cold to take the kids out.
On another note: My nipples are driving me crazy! Don't worry, it's not breast cancer, just a menopausal thing; but GEEZ do they hurt! I have actually started wearing double running bras (with the first one a little small) to keep them from moving. I tried no bra, loose clothing, first; but that was agonizing as any movement across them was excruciating. Like an electric shock at each movement. The running bras are working better than anything else I have. Any one else ever have to deal with this and what did you do? This is three days now of SUPER SENSITIVE nipples. lol I have been seriously wondering if a topical pain lotion/rub would help?
Kids are waking up, so I have to scoot! ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly the nipple lady)11 -
Sending best wishes for the surgeries. Thank you for keeping us informed.
Had a delicious skinnytaste.com recipe for dinner. Unstuffed cabbage bowls. I follow the recipe, but add a teaspoon of allspice. Double yum! We had it with a blob of half fat creme fraiche and a big dollop of wholegrain mustard on the side. My husband was groaning with pleasure. We are having the second half of it tomorrow.
The removal company rang to postpone their appointment. Rescheduled for Monday. Stupid them. It has not left a good impression and we are interviewing others anyway. They said there is no hurry as we are not moving just yet, but we are getting several quotes and someone could pip them at the post. Putting their convenience before ours is not good business.
Still editing my memoir. I had some fun this morning playing with an idea for a cover. (Still haven't got my subtitle ). I also have to write a blurb for the back and a description on Amazon. This is as far as I got on the artwork. I am a complete beginner.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx

On a happier note, today is Bea's 2nd birthday. Her party is on Saturday, but she shares her birthday with my father.
DDIL sent this just now.
Can't wait to see her and the others at the weekend.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxx
KJ - Only just seen your post about Joaquin. Gorgeous! !

Heather, I liked the art work. Disturbing which I think is what you were going for. Bea is a sweetie pie.
Barbie, hope things are going well. I’m sending you good thoughts.
Kelly, when my sister lost a baby, her breasts were really sore because she couldn’t breast feed. My mother was a nurse and what she did was to bind them up by wrapping her as tightly as she could in a sheet. That helped a lot.

Heather I think your cover is very expressive, keep refining, it is striking!
Happy birthday to Joaquin and Bea, oh how time flies.

Well it has been a while since I have checked in. Life is moving along so fast I am not doing well at keeping up. I have read up to date and sending prayers for Barbie and Becca and DH's. Meg glad to see you posting again.
We are having beautiful weather here and looking forward to getting off work and doing some walking while it lasts.
I have been loosing and gaining the same 5-7 pounds the last several months and need to break this cycle and get to loosing. I have about 80 pounds I need to lose. Thanks ladies for being here. Blessings, Vicki GI, NE5 -
Did about 45 minutes Fit in Ten DVD (Disk 2). The plan for tomorrow is to do an Advanced Strength Training DVD.
Becca and Barbie - thinking of you ((HUG))
Joyce - yea for the good report
Felicia - you can keep that snow. You, too, Margaret. And Terry (and Tony)
Isn't today Pi day?
Yvonne - I almost never can buy pants at the Salvation Army, mainly because I need to have petite sizes and they very seldom have petites. I do get most of my shirts, sweaters and shorts from there. I won't get underwear, bathing suits or shoes from there. We had a crepe myrtle tree in front of our house. I HATE them with a purple passion. You are so right, they spread and, trust me, they are hard to kill.
Kate - how wonderful you made it to Spain safely
KJ - I figured you'd do something with the kiddos about a pie! I can't believe beautiful joaquim is already a year old, how can that be? I'm not a year older
Had the Newcomer general meeting today.
Happy Birthday Bea!
Ceramics tonight

Hello all: Took DH to PT this morning and then came home for a while. Took puppy to the vet for her checkup and booster shot. She was 11 pounds when she arrived here and now weighs 19.9. The vet says that is normal for a puppy her breed. He pronounced her very healthy but estimates her adult weight as more than I was expecting. He says probably between 50 and 60 pounds. I thought she would be closer to 40.
Got my results from the echocardiogram yesterday. Everything looks good except that my ejection fraction is on the low side of normal. Looks like I need to work on some more cardio exercise. He is still wanting me to give up my estradiol but I am not going to do that. It is only a 10mcg tablet inserted vaginally twice a week for atrophic vaginitis. Only 0.02% of it gets into the general system and besides taking care of the vaginitis, it improves muscle tone in the bladder and rectum which I really appreciate. All in all I believe the benefits are worth the small risk.
Happy, happy birthday to Joaquin and Bea!!!
Heather - I like the art work. Like Terry says, disturbing but then I think that is what you are after.
Becca and Barbie - Continued well wishes.

When DH had his surgery last year I tried to take care of myself the best I could because I knew I would have to be strong for him.
Reading some good books on trauma. Childhood Disrupted, The Body Keeps Score, Full Catastrophe Livingg, the Chemistry of Calm and the Language of Emotions. They all in different ways go into how trauma effects your body and brain. They each give suggestions on how to help yourself heal from trauma. There is no one way that works for everybody. Writing is often suggested.
Full Catastrophe is the text book for a Mindful Meditation course.
It is part of why I have had made meditating part of my on going goals.
I did make it to a Zumba class today and really enjoyed it.
Heather the trauma your father put you through as a child was wrong. I am glad you found your voice through your memoir to find healing.

So just talked with transplant doctor, and the procedure to reattach the bile duct to bowels went well! He was out early she said. No problems, and they are moving him to his room, not ICU. Relieved and happy!
