Comments for March thread:
Pip: I especially appreciate, "just remember-everything happens for a reason, you may not understand it at the moment but if you pay attention it will make sense later. Life is not a dress rehearsal, this is it." :flowerforyou:
Wendy: I am so happy that you were able to rescue the filly. It seems the wife managed to rescue herself from an abusive sociopath. I count that as two wins. (((hugs)))
Evie: Arrow was a good boy at the cutting class yesterday. He loves it. I got there early and free lunged him to help him get the grumpies out. That worked very well, too. I'm going to make a habit of it.
(((MEG))) I agree with Kim. Finding family may be a blessing, & it may help her realize the value of your care for her and her sister.
Happy April!!!!!

Happy Easter to one and all.
I went and feed my DFIL. Tom was there but I got there first and Buddy wasn't in the mood to feed himself so I fed him...he was a hoot today...
Came home and was just exsausted so I took a nap and am still just laying low.
I am Soo enjoying my wind chimes .8 -
Happy Easter. This is one of my favorite holidays.
After church, we are going to have dinner at a friend's house. Our kids are friends, my oldest used to date their oldest, so it will be nice to get everyone together. My boys are really looking forward. Hubby not so much. But we'll just stay for a couple hours. I am bringing a ham, veggies, and a berry pie I bought.
No yoga today. And rain expected. So maybe after dinner we all will watch a movie or work on a jigsaw puzzle.
Thinking of Janet's beautiful eggs this morning.

Did Stott Pilates Firm & Fit DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do some of the hula hoop, maybe hold my plank if I have time or else I'll do it before the extremepump class. I do want to go to WalMart to get the candy on sale. I'm thinking that today I might put the Wet & Forget on the deck
Katie and Heather - I think you're right, you can only get those daffodil bulbs late in the season to plant them. Or maybe you can get them in Feb. to plant. I was just hoping to be able to get them before we put down the mulch. I did find some already blooming...but they looked so sad that I didn't buy them.
Wendy - happy early birthday. Have you decided on a name for the horse, or maybe you'll just keep the one he already has? What a magestic looking animal. Horses are magestic anyway.
Kim - I THINK I saw hyacinth and crocus bulbs. Which blooms earliest?
Barbie - thank YOU for being part of my life and always getting us going
Happy Easter and April Fools Day. I personally think the Church did a great disservice. To have Ash Wednesday fall on Valentines Day when most people get chocolates but then they give them up and then to have Easter on April Fools Day. Well, next year I think it's supposed to be something like April 21
Carol - I had trouble adding food to my diary yesterday but was finally able to do it later in the evening. I like to prelog. There have been times when I didn't realize that I'd gone over so I omitted something that I was planning to have. But couldn't do that yesterday. Still came in under calories
KJ - can Joaquin get any cuter? When he gets older (like preschool) he's going to have his pick of girlfriends. How adorable those pictures are!
Rita - was that a blintz that you had with your breakfast? Brownie?

KJ ~ Joaquin is the cutest. Love the unhappy face...did he not like the cake?
Janet ~ Your oldest daughter and the grand baby are beautiful!
What a wonderful day to celebrate!

Carol - Joaquin was probably upset that he couldn't get more cake into his mouth at one time!

March goals percentage met:
March PERCENTAGE GOAL MEET:
WORKOUT TIME: 50% of 2.5 hours a week
VEGGIES: 86% of 4 a day
FRUIT: 38% of 3 a day
WATER: 70% of 75.5 oz a day
STEPS: 40% of 7000 a day
Much worse than February. Bad month with DH surgery then both of us sick for 2 weeks with colds. Brought on my depression. Good news is I only put 1/2 pound back on.
April goals:
improve on above percentages so all are at 90% or better for the month.
Add 1 dairy a day
Lose 4 pounds in April (189.2 now so down to 185.2)
"Rita - was that a blintz that you had with your breakfast? Brownie?

Breakfast was a piece of Italian egg pie, kielbasa, pirogi's, and brown bread. 712 calories but only this and dinner today. Dinner will be corned beef cooked in beer with whatever else my DH makes. He cooks for us all the time. He was a chef in a past life so I don't complain. Gourmet all the time but makes it very hard to lose weight when the food is so good! Portion control and moderation in all things! LOL

I was able to get those hyacinths because they were not at there peak for their show at Como. I can try and plant them once the ground warms up and let the foliage die naturally. I have done this before with mixed success. They had daffodils too but they went fast.
Still working at getting better sleep. Seem to be stuck at six hours. Hoping to lengthen it to eight.5 -

Hi Sisters, I'm up early so I can feed the animals and get dressed as I am joining the tramping club again for a day hike through the Manawatu Gorge. Hoping to shed a pound so I can fit the new pantsuit better.
DH and I went to a church service in town for Easter. It was okay, nothing earth shattering. We are used to listening to really talented preachers on the internet but I wanted to go so I could sing with others. We will probably try a different church next time we feel like driving all the way into town on a Sunday.
Michele, I will probably change the filly's name. Can't remember what the neighbour used to call her but she is young and will quickly learn her new name. She is registered so I will find out that name and then maybe decide. Right now I just call her Beauty, in my mind. Apparently when the neighbor split up, she left the filly and her other two horses in a paddock somewhere and hasn't seen them in three months. She is moving her two older horses across the country to where she lives now, but doesn't have room for the filly so she was going to drop her off at her ex's as she had no where else. But when she ran into me at the saddle shop she begged me to take her.
She told me she had a big fight to get her onto the horse trailer and the filly flipped over backwards so she is worried she won't be able to get her on this time...So, I guess I'll just wait and see what happens and whether the filly shows up here or not. I won't tell my hubby ahead of time because some people are very unreliable and things can Go South with plans, so no need to get into a fight over something that might be cancelled out. For all I know, the ex may have already gone and picked her up himself. I asked her not to tell him that she is selling the filly to me. If he wants her, he would just come and take her. He's scary! Just have to pray and leave things in God's hands. I didn't plan this out so I am not in control of anything. Wendy7 -
My roast lamb shoulder with veggies was HEAVENLY! I had mainly veggies and just a little meat. It was all braised in a bottle of beer/mango flavour. DH was sooooooooooooo happy. Good job because I messed up the Tandoori monkfish yesterday. The commercial powder I bought was not a patch on my own mix. Far too hot for DH and coarse in flavour. He was not happy. The roasted veggies were carrots, parsnips, fennel, onion, garlic and potatoes for DH.
I had a couple of small glasses of red wine, but have declined any more. Since I have been almost AF it doesn't take much to get me squiffy and I don't really like the feeling any more.
Our own rhubarb from the garden for dessert and then one of the chocolate truffles I got us for Easter. I have enough calories left for two, so I can see that in my future.
Had a lovely day. Nice to trot round the lanes with DH.
Now I'm reading Runner's World, all about running as an antidote to depression.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx8 -
Happy Easter! Woke up to snow this morning and more coming. I am praying it doesn't get real bad. When DH picks me up this afternoon we are going to head to Lincoln (about 100 miles) and stay in hotel all night so can be at the hospital early in the morning. Plan to stop and see my friend when we get in town so that she knows I am there. Please keep her in prayer for the surgery tomorrow.
Barbie--Thanks for keeping us going and being a great example.
Heather--They are so cute and looks like they are having a lot of fun. I just love the smiles and laughs of my DGC.
All this talk about down sizing and declutting. Some friends from church are selling their stuff on this dollar auction site. So DH is cleaning out our storage room and listing stuff. The bid starts at a dollar and goes for 3 days. We decided we are going to put half in our safe jar and when we get enough put down new floors. In just one week the jar has $40. I am excited as getting rid of stuff and making a little money.
Well ladies enjoy your day and remember we are all in this together. Blessings, Vicki GI, NE9 -
Made a baked oatmeal and wow was it delightful. I have plenty to cut into squares and eat all week, it has mashed carrots a little brown sugar and cinnamon, raisins pecans add eggs and milk —-yummy.
Felt like cooking/baking today so I made hummus for the week of snacks and a pineapple upside down cake which is DHs favorite. Having a very mellow day—more snow is on the way8 -
2 hours of moving, packing boxes, now taking a breather while husband gets more boxes. Kitchen delegated with a pile of food stuffs I'm giving to neighbor, and another pile of items I'm packing. Pots, pans, dishes, stemware, mugs are all packed. Pleated my large beach towels inserting a plate in each pleat, then binding it with packing tape. Tried to keep the boxes "carry able", but they're still damn heavy! Lift with your knees Becca not your back!
So packing the food, our movie cabinet, the clothes we don't need from now until next week, and master bath. This afternoon I'm taking a long shower then scrubbing the shower interior like a maniac!
The fact that we really only have Mon and Tues as full packing days is making me anxious!! Wednesday is laundromat day, and I'm visiting all my TOPS friends before their meeting starts. I'm not paid up to really contribute, or get weighed.
Thursday we drive to Portland to visit with middle son, go out to lunch with him, visit with my Mother in-law, then spend the night with son and DIL. On Friday, dear husband has an appointment to finally get his staples out. Then we drive home to meet son driving down with uhaul truck. Its an organizational Merry go round!
Oh tonight I have to spray oven with Oven Off! Messy job!

I admire you so much. I aspire to your life. I want to be able to say that we're moving in a week and have everything ready to go. You don't want to know how long it took me to get everything packed the last time we moved.

A little drama at church today. A guy was picketing on the side walk all anti celebrating Easter, complete with scripture verses. My 11 year old was upset. I said that he is on public property, the side walk, and can exercise his freedom of speech however he wants. Evidently he's been demonstrating outside of various churches around town. 1st amendment in action.

Carol, so sorry, i know that's very frustrating. No, I've not encountered any problems. Hope it gets resolved quickly. Hugs.

Hi there. I’m a new 50 yr old gal here at mfp. You ladies seem like such a friendly bunch, I felt comfortable enough to come in, say hello and list my April goals.
First, thank you Barbie for creating this group. It is a blessing for me and obviously to many here. Second, to Heather, your grandchildren are adorable! I couldn’t help but smile
My goal for April is to lose 4 pounds, do cardio 3x per week, and strength 2x per week. I plan to log everything that goes in my mouth, (good choices or not) and log exercise too. I look forward to coming here, learning and getting to know some of you.
Have a wonderful day ladies!

Awe Felicia, don't admire me!!! I have been conditioned by the Navy to be able to pack up and move on a dime! I have moved about 20+ times in our 33 years of marriage. Its not a choice, just follow my sailor where ever! I'm currently at 28+ boxes! Going to pack husbands clothes in our luggage, duh, why didn't I think of that before I used all MY clothes as packing material! So I'm packing my last box and ask my husband to get some light shirts to fill the box. So these are shirts from his closet. He starts military folding them to put in. Seriously?? I have been jamming my clothes in boxes with pans, and he is folding carefully?? Oh for the love of......$&%#!! I ask him quietly, why do your clothes get to still be clothes and my clothes were packing material?? He just smiles and folds his shirt......
