OMG Thank you Barbie and happy Easter all! I have been looking for a group of women to love and support and walk beside as I take this weight loss journey.
I tried another group of very nice people but their thing is to weigh daily and report it for accountability and I just cannot do it. I have no problem with being honest and reporting my weight every day. But I do have a problem in my mind when my weight fluctuates up and down and up and down every day. On the up days I think I should have permission to eat whatever I want but that is just not a good plan.
So here are my Newbie goals for April:
Complete at least one 10 minute cardio workout five days a week.
Complete one 10 minute strength training workout five days a week.
Log every item of food I put in my mouth and drink and log at least 64 ounces of water per day.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you.8 -
Heather: Your granddchildren are fabulous and beyond cute.
NYKaren: I suffered from SAD, aka Seasonal Affective Disorder, for many years. Taking Vitamin D3 has been amazing for me and eliminated most of the problem that short days have always given me. I used to suffer from day length depression but not any more. It is something worth considering. :flowerforyou:
Barbie: This thread has become a lifeline for me, too. I'm so glad I found it and grateful to you for keeping us going each month.
Carol from GA: I'm glad you're here.
Wendy: I hope the filly turns up at your place soon, and that you don't attract the attention of your former neighbor's abusive ex.
Heather: I will never be a runner again due to the bursitis I have in my left knee, but I've found that brisk walking, bike riding, and other big muscle activities do a very nice job of keeping my attitude and spirits uplifted. I also have a strategy for fighting off winter depression that has been a problem for me in the past. Daylight temperature lights throughout our home combined with the yoga and aerobic exercising I mentioned really helps me prevent the wintertime blues. I lived with it for years, but not any more.
Becca: Keep in touch as much as you can during your moving adventure. It all seems so exciting.
Diane PacNW: Welcome. There are several of us from Oregon and Washington. What part of the PNW do you call home?
Kate UK: I love the Highwaymen, too. I hope I remembered to record it!
I've done a bit of laundry today, but not much else. Yesterday I had a grand time horseback riding and then another grand time finding a vintage heart-shaped cut glass earring box for DGD. I think it is pretty. I'll ship it to her tomorrow. This replaces the one I sent for her birthday, along with a set of earrings. That box was accidentally dropped and broken. Those birthday earrings will soon have a new home.

I am glad to hear it, Allie. Withholding forgiveness only hurts ourselves.
Nice to hear about your wind chimes.

Greetings!
What a wonderful day! Exercised, steps, water, food, family, laughter, love, and Jesus Christ Superstar on TV! My brother, sister, and I use to put on plays to this soundtrack when we were younger. So many wonderful memories. Happy that the kids still love egg coloring and hunting. Not one electronic device while visiting. Played pool with dads, played with each other. Adult time. Now dancing around my living room to the sound track.
I hope everyone had a blessed day in whatever way that was. Prayers continuing for those in need.

This was a lovely lazy day for us. There was a baseball game on TV right after lunch so Jake stretched out on the couch and I got in the recliner with a blanket and we watched the game---actually, he watched the game and I slept until the sixth inning. I did my usual dog walking this morning but it was cold and drizzly and not a day that invited doing any weed pulling in the yard.
Allie, I applaud your forgiving spirit but I can't imagine being friends with someone who treated me the way Tom treated you.
Katla, I'm happy to hear that you and Arrow have been able to spend time together.

Uggg...can't log food right now. Hopefully, MFP can get this taken care of like they did last night. Wonder if they can since it's Easter?
Rita - your breakfast sounds delish! I always find it a challenge to take a recipe and make it lower in calories. Would your hubby?
Was it katie who said that Brecks had the daffodils? Well, I looked there, and they have them but they don't ship until Fall. I was hoping to get them to plant around now. Guess I won't. Some of them are really pretty.
Wendy - Beauty is a lovely name and sure fits her. Do hope you get her
Vince went to church today with me. He's a C&E're. Then came home a cleaned the winshield in my car. It was badly streaked. Hope it came out OK, we'll know tomorrow when we take it out in the sunshine. Went to Lowe's Hardware to get the corrugated piping. Then put down the Wet & Forget on the deck. That takes amost all day to do.
Diane and slja - welcome, pull up a chair, pour yourself and glass of water, and jump right in
kylia - I'm going to record Jesus Christ superstar. I love that show!

My dogs a re a central part of my exercise program. Sasha is a ten year old red Standard Poodle. She weighs about 35 pounds. Bessie is a rescue dog with very mixed ancestry. She weighs about 45 pounds and has a heavy body and short legs. I walk both of them for about 45 minutes when I get up about 4 AM. After breakfast about 6 AM I walk them both for about 45 minutes, take Bessie home, and walk Sasha again for about 90 minutes, They get walked several times for 5-10 minutes during the day and about midnight. With my husband recovering from surgery, I'm doing all the walking, but normally he takes them on some the walks during the day.
Stats for today:
*16,000 steps
*190 minutes walking Sasha and Bessie
*150 minutes riding the exercise bike
Michele, I love daffodils and have many of them in my yard and in pots (also tulips and iris). They have to be planted here in the fall. When I had my surgery in September 2016, I was very sad at not being able to plant more bulbs in early October, so Jake planted them for me and I sat in a chair and watched. Last year I planted the bulbs myself. The good ones are very expensive so I buy only a small number each year. The time to plant bulbs depends on where you live and it might be a month earlier where you are because you live farther south.

Good evening ladies. It is just so nice coming here and reading about what your lives. Jaquim is just the most adorable child. I can't wait until he is a teenager. I hope MFP is still around then and we are all here together.
I think I just have a lo of thoughts today, not responding to any particular women.
Why do we hav so many women here from the Pacific Noth West. Why can't we get some women from southern Indiana?
I went to church this morning! I decided that I would not take my BIble. There are Bibles at the pews along with the Hymnals. Also the paper in my BIble is real thin and it hurts my fingers more than regular paper. I will just use that Bible. And th singing, I didn't even know if I could sing. But I could!!!!!!! No pain with singing!!!!!! So gues who will be in choir practice Wednesday!!!!! But it was good just to be in church. I know I should have been going all along. The reason I didn't go was the pain in my fingers. But I sat here with the pain. So why can't I sit in church with the same pain? I don't even need to pick anything up, just listen to the preacher read from the Bible and I know most of the songs. So I have just been a bad girl for 4 months. I also have a lot of tithe to catch up on.
Tomorrow we head out to Nicholasville, Ky and spend the night in a motel. My daughter lives there. Then we will head out Tuesday morning to The Ark Encounter that is somewhere in Ky and we will have to find out, But I am not doing the driving. I'm just in the back seat it the car enjoying my grad kids, I have a power chair reserved for me to go through the Ark. Charlie does not. I am afraid that he will just find all the benches and not really get anything out of the Ark experience. But if he does that then there wouldn't be that much discussion in the car and at home about the Ark and the Bible which he has a real big problem in believing in. Will enjoy the two days with the grand kids, Ellie is such a special child and will grow up and really be somebody that people will know her name. I hope Trinity also finds that place. She is a beautiful young lady, wants to find herself in musical theatre somewhere. I hope she has been prepared emotionally throughout her years that she can handle the disappointed that with the lack of any muc is training in her elementary and teen years that she won't be able to be in musical theatre. But her mother has thrived in many different businesses withought any training, so she comes from really good genes.
Again, I love you ladies as sisters, wish we could all get together and have a nice cuppa.

Hi, ladies! I thought I'd pop in to say hi. I've been reading your posts for a little while, and this seems like a supportive group. You all seem to have adventurous lives!
I live in Illinois, where we also had a snowstorm on this Easter Day. I have daffodils blooming in the snow; it's odd. I'm really ready for spring and flowers, but it's not to be this week, I guess.
I have been getting back into exercise with the help of my Fitbit and am beginning to feel a bit better again. I've taken off about five pounds in March; it feels good to be going the right direction.
Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi Gals,
Heather – cute picture of the grandkids!
Michele – In my yard the bulbs bloom in this order, starting in mid feb – remember I’m in CA and in mid-feb our highs are in the 50-60s and lows in the 30-40
Spring crocus
Snow drops
Narcissus (the small ones)
Daffodils (which are in the Narcissus family but are larger)
Hyacinth
Japanese Iris
Tulips
Bearded Iris (not really a bulb, but I treat it like one)
So today went fine! I felt safe the whole time, there was another neighbor there and that really helps my brother, as he has a much harder time controlling his anger when it’s family. Mom and I went to the cemetery, after brunch to my dad’s plot, I needed to go to see the stone and figure out if there was room for my brother’s name after he goes. And there was. Mom was in tears and when I reached out and touched her shoulder, she jerked away, and said I’ll be fine quit trying to care about me. I’m sorta sure she did not mean it the way it came out. But I’m one who likes a hug or a touch and she HATES it, sometimes I’m surprised that she has kids as it means she and Dad touched…It’s been years since she hugged me. Reaching out to someone in pain is second nature to me, and I felt belittled - she’s completely clueless how I feel and anyone who feels different from her is just broken so there is no point having the discussion. I do hug her when I’m leaving, always have, and she just stands there like a pillar. We could not be more different.

I'm not new to MFP but new to the "community" aspect. I'm looking for support and motivation and this group seemed very welcoming. I'm looking to lose weight after my Dr. said my sugars are "creeping" up and my blood pressure seems a "little high." I'm ready to get serious about weight loss and I thought I'd start by stepping out of my comfort zone and see what the community of MFP can offer.
Goals-
Lose 50lbs. Through a combination of diet and exercise.
Learn Yoga and Zumba

Hi Sisters, the Gorge hike was great fun. We came across this huge Maori sculpture and I couldn't resist getting my photo taken there.
And the filly was delivered to me just about an hour after I got home from the hike. It took them three hours to load her on the trailer and she went down in it, and has cuts on her face and fetlock, but she is here and safe now. I have put her in with my unicorn and they are eating a pile of hay together. My hubby was watching tv and didn't notice when she got her just before dark, so I'll just see how long he takes to figure out there are now two chestnuts instead of one...LOL Wendy...PS, hoping I have lost a bit of weight on the hike!

Wendy, that picture speaks volumes of you and the environment you live in... beautiful! (both... ) So glad you got the filly safe, if not completely sound. She will think she's gone to heaven, even if it was a rough trip!
Joyce, good to see you posting. Hope the trip to the Ark Adventure goes well.
Kim, you're such an amazing woman--but I've noticed more than once that as they mature, people choose their eventual selves either because of their raising, or in spite of it. I'd say you chose the latter. I'm so glad you felt safe on Easter Sunday.
On the upswing for weight again, and it's only the graphs that are helping me hold onto the fact that it will go down again. And knowing my body is lashing back for the hours of plane sitting and dehydration from the week in the desert. It will come off again, and I just have to be patient with that. Not my strong suit!
Loving the pictures of the grands and the great-grands! The azaleas and wisteria were in full bloom yesterday in the park, and the smell of the wisteria was just amazing. I took a picture as my husband and I strolled.
Love y'all...
