Heather, so happy that your oldest already "knew" something and that he is happier to be in the loop. Also happy that dil feels that younger son can be told. So much better for them to hear it from you rather than from someone else, also better for them to know, not have their imaginations running wild! I know I can come up with all kinds of wild and wonderful (not!) thoughts if I don't know what's happening! We always imagine the worst, don't we? I know this was a hard thing for you to do, so major kudos to you for grabbing the bull by the horns. I think you came out on top!
Machka, you and your hubby are still firmly in my thoughts. Happy to hear that he is responding to sounds, hoping he will make a full and complete recovery. Our brains and bodies really are quite marvelous machines, we sometimes just need to let them "reboot" themselves!
Terry, hope all goes well with the MRI and that you don't need surgery. Keeping you in my thoughts also.
Lanette, glad to hear the chiro helped! Have to admit, I love my chiro! She does a lot to keep me upright and mobile!
Felicia, well, glad that ds will get his guitar back, but OUCH! That's a lot of money for shipping! Oh well, sometimes we need to do these things for our kids.
Lisa, so happy that your sil got home in one piece. Hoping that things go well for your daughter as well. How is her ankle holding up?
We paid off our house many years ago, so nice to be mortgage free! When we bought the house we are currently in, we were able to pay for it outright as we sold our old place. We even had a bit of money left over! Course, then I decided that we needed some new furniture...... Well, we really did, the old couch would have been too big in the new living room, so it's downstairs in hubby's man cave. I wanted to get new recliners, one for each of us and a small loveseat. Even hubby admits that was all a good idea. We also made and paid for our final arrangements, my mom and dad had done that and it was such a huge load off my shoulders. MIL did not do that, so we had to set up, and pay for, her final stuff. She's not gone yet, but at least when she does go, it's all taken care of.
So thankful that neither of us has gluten issues, but have to say there are certainly many, many more options now that even 10 years ago. I think of a girl I went to school with, she was celiac (probably still is!!) and I can't imagine the trouble that her mom must have had to go to in order for this girl to eat. There was no rice or soy flour, certainly couldn't buy any gluten free pasta or baked goods.... I have tried brown rice pasta, hubby was reluctant, but even he decided it was pretty good. So then I tried corn pasta, yeah, won't be buying that again. It's okay, but not great. I will buy the brown rice stuff again tho.
Weigh in was Wed, down .8! Was doing the happy dance, gotta tell ya! Only 7 more weeks til the wedding.... Still haven't talked to our son about wanting his grandmother and uncle at the wedding, really need to try and get him to see things from their perspective, neither of them were ever social butterflies, this would just make them so uncomfortable. My bil has anxiety issues when he's in unfamiliar surroundings and he doesn't like crowds..... Will have to tackle that this weekend, I guess. Not a conversation that I'm looking forward to. Somebody asked if this was coming from the fiancee's side, I'm pretty sure it's not, I think she's being supportive of his decision. I do understand him wanting them there, she has a large family and they are all in the area, so he wants some family there too. Unfortunately, most of the people that he invited from my side are all older and live farther away than they feel comfortable driving. We might have a plan in place for a few of them to get here, we shall see what happens in the next few weeks.
Okay, enough of this novel for today! There was another topic that I was going to put my two cents worth in about, but darned if I can remember what it was now!
Hope everyone has a great day/night!

Physical went well. Dr was happy about the weight loss. Going to have my blood work done next week and depending on what that shows will determine if I can come off any meds. Fingers crossed. The small itchy rash spot I had on my hand turned out to be ringworm! I said “where the he!! did I get that”? Guess you can catch it just about anywhere. So now I’ve got anti fungus cream for it.
Well, I’m beat and ready to read. I’m reading Lisa See’s The Tea Gurl Of Hummingbird Lane and enjoying it.
Hope everyone has a good night.

I remembered!! I only use Facebook for Facebook, nothing else that I go into is linked to my facebook account. So, the only password that Facebook has for me is for my facebook account (and darned if I know what it is!) so nobody is going to get very far looking for a phone number or email address there!
I have found there is less and less on there that I am interested in, I joined in order to keep up with friends and family, but people seem to be posting less and less on there. Oh well, I do still use it to message the kids sometimes and it is handy for some of my cousins, I'll keep it for now.

Allie - Glad that TomCat has to keep insurance with you as beneficiary. It'd be awful to suddenly have 'income' fly right out the window.
We're debt-free as far as credit cards; but, Louis kept the ones he uses in his business. I was prepared to pay them off, too. He has to make the payments and he recently took up paying my car payment rather than transferring funds each month for me to be able to pay it. Can you say, "Insurance Poor?" That's what we are. It is expensive to insure a man in his mid-70's; but, we have to do it so the mortgage can be paid off. I have a little more than he does just because I had some through my job that I did not have to pay for. Talked to OPM today and she brought up the fact that I can change from 'family' health insurance to "Me + one" and save over $35 - jumped all over that and it takes place immediately; I will wait until I get my bank statement to take out the lower amount. My retirement check should have already hit by now. Louis was surprised that it wasn't more of a savings. Hells Bells - I will take it, that is a 'haircut' or 'something' for me. I need to get my eyebrows shaped.
Nothing good on TV tonight; seems like we should have started watching a movie earlier; but, oh well! Maybe tomorrow.
Terry - Do you have a garden or anything? Ringworm used to be something that I'd get as a small child; but, I played outside barefooted most of the year. It is something that is caused by a fungus; and, you can also get it from pets if they pick it up. I think ringworms and lice are common in children because they don't think about trying on hats or using combs or brushes of others. May be one reason I chose not to wear hats. But, I used to go with my mother a couple times a year to the hat shop in Albany and we'd try on hats for quite a while.

Barbara I spent some time looking over the dances that we may be doing for the County Fair. There are 15 dances on the list but we'll do only 8 so the next few weeks will be spend trying to decide which ones to do. In years past, I've known almost all the dances. This year I know only a few and two of them are dances that are different from the ones I already do to the same music. The group of dancers includes two beginners so that may determine which dances get eliminated. No matter, what, I'll have to learn some new dances. When the list is final, I'll let you know which ones we're going to do.
Evelyn, I got a Facebook account to see photos of my grandchildren and my friend's dogs. I hardly ever look at anything, but I maintain the account so if my friend asks me if I saw the photo of her dogs, I can look. I didn't even check Facebook on my birthday.
Heather, you are doing a brave thing with your memoirs and sharing the info with your sons. I admire your courage.
Lanette, I am very happy with my chiropractor. I'm glad you had good results.
Stats for today:
*19,000 steps
*170 minutes walking Sasha and Bessie
*47 minutes riding the exercise bike
*taught the two hour beginner line dance class

Did Kathy Kaehler Basics DVD (this is primarily step). The plan for tomorrow is to do part of Karen Voit's Overall and Abs section of her DVD
Picked up the trencher early today, now Vince is trying to figure out how to remove this one chain so he can get it off the trailer
Trenching done, some of the piping in. Hope to get the rest of the piping in since they're calling for rain. Unfortunately, we had trouble with one ratchet so we were a bit late returning the trencher so instead of being charge for 4 hours, we were charged for 1 day. It's interesting....they also include the time they inspect it in those 4 hours. Like instead of 11:45, we got it there at 12. By the time they inspected it, we got it parked, it was 12:30 so we were charge for the entire day. Guess that's Home Depot for you.
Heather - I'm so glad you told your sons. See, the oldest really did have an inkling. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if the youngest does, too. (((HUG))) Update: so happy DIL is agreeable
Lodi - welcome! I like mixing up my exercise. I do a lot of DVD's. One problem is that all instructors call things different. But the good side is that your muscles are constantly being challenged, you don't use the same muscles over and over
Lynn - welcome! Hey pip -- she needs your boot!!!!!
katla - I THINK the Foodmap diet has something to do with IBS.
We just returned the trencher, had some lunch, will go back out and finish putting the pipe in. May even fill in one of the pipes Update: got the corrugated pipe in. Need to get a piece of PVC to put at the end (why I don't know, I know that Vince wants it). Got the pipe covered. Now to let the dirt settle some
Okie - that's wonderful! You'll do it, that's for sure
Supposed to usher at the Green Room for Blue. I'm really looking forward to seeing it. The author is supposed to be here after the show and I believe a few of the survivors are supposed to be there. Update: the show was awesome. Can't wait until we go as attendees on the 14th. Our seats are very close. As an usher you sit in the back, but being up front to me allows you to see the actor's expressions and I suspect some of the expressions will be worth a million dollars.
Terry in VT - hope you get off some of the meds. Ringworm??????
Evelyn - I was thinking that fewer and fewer people are using Facebook. A lot of the posts there seem to be pictures with sayings. I'm more interested in people themselves.

Heather: It is such good news that your DDIL is supportive of sharing your story with your younger son. Your older son responded extremely well as far as I could tell. Yay! This work will help your family, but I see the book as having importance for many other people out there, too, both individual victims and families.
Felicia: I'm happy that your DH has stepped up in a positive & supportive way to help with your son. Yay! Thank you for all your good information of FOD Map & gluten. We're in a learning curve now, and DH made a poor choice today so he isn't feeling the best. Some of life is trial and error. :ohwell:
Michele: Before DH went to the doctor he was eating very poorly and feeling worse by the day. The new diet is amazingly positive for him, although he messed up a bit today. I hope he'll stick with it the new way of eating and not slide back into old bad habits. :flowerforyou:
I have noticed that MFP hasn't been retuning me to my last post when I come back in a day later. This is new and unwelcome from my pov. I hope they're able to fix it.

Hi Sisters, I spent most of today horsing around. My student came and we gave Lady her first ride. She is such a cuddly filly and loves attention. Someone asked me if my DH noticed the cuts on Lady's face, but he didn't because I put a white zinc based wound cream on them and they weren't noticable. Here are some pics from today:

Hi Ladies, my goals for April is to continue to eat as many of my calories as I can which is hard for me but working on a consistent 1000 to 1300 calories each day and plenty of exercise. Then of course spring cleaning this big Victorian and yard work, plenty of yard work... all in between work
Whatever you hold in your mind on a consistent basis is exactly what you will experience in your life. ― Tony Robbins So whatever your fitness goals (weight loss for me) keep them in your mind consistently and we will get there! Hope everyone has a good Saturday.4 -
Lisa, so happy that your sil got home in one piece. Hoping that things go well for your daughter as well. How is her ankle holding up?
Evelyn, Vancouver Island
Not a clue, Evelyn - she's not going to address it, and we're not bringing it up anymore. She got hammered on by enough people about it, it's her choice now. Grown children are... more frustrating than the three-year-old, who can be made happy by a ride in the car.
Speaking of which, that's what I was doing last night, as she was devastated (the silent tears kind of devastated, so I knew it was real) by her parent's nipping out for a night to themselves. She woke up from a nap and they were gone, and she was most unhappy. We sent them off to get to know each other again after six months apart. They've invited people over tonight, and our grandson is back tomorrow, and our DD is back to work on Monday. A ride in the car brightened the little one right up, as it's her favorite thing.
We packed up the panel trailer yesterday, as it's supposed to rain all day today. It was the first time we'd looked in the trailer since we got here five months ago, and we were relieved to find everything dry and in great shape. We only unpacked what we needed while here, and what we didn't want freezing and frying in outdoor temps (like my acrylic paints), so it was a relief to make sure the love seat, etc., was in good shape. What we have kept upstairs to get us through this next week will easily pack in either the pickup (with a camper shell on it) or in my little SUV. And Corey can handle the trips up and down the stairs with what's left without my help on Thursday while I'm working. All we'll have to load Friday morning is a suitcase or two, and we're out of here as early as I can get him moving.
Still not sure how we ended up with three TVs--oh, right, the one from the travel trailer.
Anyway - squirrel! - the rebound weight from traveling is all gone, and I'm literally 4/10 of a pound from One-der-land... but I took measurements day before yesterday, and have dropped 15 inches - including three from my waist, three from my chest, so life is good. I recommend highly taking measurements--and because I did after my gastric bypass for the first full year, I can even tell how close I am to where I was 12 years ago. Oddly enough, other than my calves and my thighs, I'm actually smaller than I was in April 2006 in every measurement, even though I'm eight pounds heavier right now than I was nine months after the surgery. Not a clue why! But I'm OK with it.
Welcome to all the new ones - be sure to sign your posts with the name you want to be called, and a location so we can keep everyone sorted out in our heads. Comment or commiserate with those you choose, but you don't have to try to comment on everyone's posts, it will be too much. There's a grey star at the top of the screen where you can bookmark the thread... and we start clean again each month. Glad you're here!
Love y'all,
Lisa in NC - for six days and a wake-up! This time next week, we'll be waking up in Tupelo, Mississippi, on our way to Arkansas...7 -
The Oxfam man came and loaded up 9 big boxes of books into his hatchback! I asked him to come back next Saturday for a whole lot more.
The woman who wanted our large suitcase hasn't turned up. I got the impression from her email that she wasn't very reliable, but she may still show.
I've sorted out more clothes for the dump and some jewellery for the charity shop. Slowly, but surely.
My younger son went out to dinner with my DDIL and she explained what was in the letter. He didn't want to read it then, but told her he would read it soon. Life is a bit of a struggle for him at the moment, so I absolutely understand. He has always been very sensitive to my feelings. In his first year at university he came home every weekend because he was worried about me. I only realised that fairly recently when my ex told me. I thought he missed his friends.
Must now start putting the memoir on to Createspace. I'm sure there are errors, but I hope it's 'good enough' and minor misspellings etc won't put people off. I am so not a book designer!

Good morning! Just want to say, there are a lot of posts I want to "Woooooo!" about and I really wish they had something more emotional than a "like" or a "hug". Something like this:
