Good morning! Happy Thursday! KJ2

Morning Ladies - I was awake at 3:30 this morning, not too bad since I was asleep at 9. I imagine my sleep is going to be challenged this long weekend, but that's OK, I'll catch up when I get home
Hugs, prayers, safe travels and good thoughts for all.

I am sitting in my room with a cup of tea and the computer, I watch the local news but turn it off when the national news comes on, to much crap for me to listen too..
got a quote on doing part of the patio.. so it will be most all be pavers .. because of what I have for patio furniture will probably go with it, it is about 100 sq feet and the guy is charging 1400 for labor materials everything included... will be well worth it in the long run..he is in Florida but will be back next week so he will come over and actually look at it and see what he needs to do... my girlfriend had her steps and walkway done , did a spectacular job..
not going down to feed DFIL today , just not feeling up to it.. and will take Alfie out for a walk before I go anywhere
then this afternoon will come home and relax ,take a nap and clean.. hopefully in that order...5 -
well, no riding today, taking kirby to the gym for a short exercise then to go get his MRI. he got some pills to take bout 1/2hr to 45min b4 so he could relax by the time they put him in the machine, then I'll drive him home and drive to work. wish us luck10

roundbutsound ... welcome!
Getting back on track today! (OK I had to write that a couple of times getting rid of the passive language ... like "hoping" to get back on track, "trying," etc...)

Good luck Pip! Prayers for Kirby.

Katla - Lovely photo of the grands. Thanks for posting.
Lisa - Happy moving day! Can't wait for ours. At least our chain is complete now. Crossing fingers it doesn't break.
I am still wrestling with Createspace. This morning it just shut down on me altogether. I'm going to try again this afternoon. I need to do some biking first because my thigh muscles have seized up through tension. I get leg ache like other people get headaches!
Going to dye my roots if I have a moment.

roundbutsound, I started on MFP at age 62 and with the help of these women and logging food and exercise, I lost the weight I wanted to lose and have kept the weight off. Come back every day and join in conversation.
slept a bit late, gonna meditate for 10 minutes and then take the dogs to meet our friend and walk for awhile before dance class.

Good morning ladies (and it is a good one for me today),
Feeling a little better today. Thanks for all the virtual hugs. My mind seems to be in a better place today. Partly because I have no more "bad" food in my house now. So didn't over eat last night because there wasn't anything tempting. Hoping to get the date for the MRI today.
Love hearing all the moving stories and pictures. I am looking forward to moving when I retire. Still looking at Delaware. We were going to visit again this summer but will have to see how my foot is first.
Welcome to the newbies.
Better get to work. You guys rock! Terry in VT10 -
Pip - sounds like Kirby will be in good hands and I'm sure he will sail thru the MRI. Sending comforting hugs your way!
Katla - gorgeous grands! What an adorable photo. Any updates about your daughter moving to Oregon?
Machka - I have been thinking of you walking to the hospital and realizing it's getting chilly as it's now fall in OZ. These past couple days I've been listening to relaxation and "medical" self-hypnosis tapes for healing for my back. The positive affirmations while in a "dream" state are so powerful. Someone else in this group - Karen?- mentioned talking to him while he's in the coma. I would hope the docs and nurses and those who visit him are telling him he's getting better every day and that his brain and body have an inborn power to heal and it's taking place right now. At least that's what I would want my friends and family to do if I was in a similar situation. If anyone is interested, I downloaded the mp3 self-hypnosis programs from WestwoodPublishingco.com and the narrator/creator is Gil Boyne. I got the "Gil Boyne – Programming Secrets of Health Wellness Vitality" which also comes with the relaxation program. $14.95. He has a deep voice and I can't believe I took classes from him over 30 years ago... so I guess I was already "pre-programmed" lol. He also has audios for weight loss, quit smoking, etc.
Wendy - I am so glad your eating program is working for you. Kudos for sticking with it! Hope the payment for the business comes through in a timely manner and you get a sense of how long you'll have to be working there. Are the bees all ready for winter now? Is there anything more to do for them as the season grows cold?
Karen in VA -- I totally agree about what we tend to overeat on. I can't tell you how many times I've stuck my hand in the cookie jar and in mid-crunch wondering why am I not eating an avocado or some delicious nutritious leftovers? What kid lives in our heads that needs sweet treats??? I want to tell it "grow up, junior" LOL. Keeping my favorite nuts and good cheeses on hand seems to help if I would just remember to grab them.
Trish - Trisha - Tricia I am sorry to admit I am so confused. Could I ask you to please add where you are from on every post so I can keep you straight?
Terry - Ok when the teleporter finally gets out of the shop (the speedy one, not the one that scrambles molecules) I want you to reserve it for a couple days and zip down to see Mary and Rita where it's sunny!! That will do you a world of good I think. Don't forget sunscreen, lol.
Ladies, the sun is up and we are between showers so I'm outta here for a few before this PC decides to dump what I've typed here.

Happy Thursday! I'm just starting on my first cup of coffee for the morning. My plan for the day is to go to yoga this morning and then do whatever comes next.
I've been talking with DH about the possibilities of going out for meals occasionally now that we know he's dealing with gluten intolerance. Thai and Chinese restaurants seem to be likely places for him to do well. He won't be able to have toast at the cafe where we occasionally go for breakfast, but he should do fine eating bacon eggs & potatoes.
We've made great progress with cooking at home. We eliminated gluten for him, and also garlic and onion powder, and all fresh onions that are not green. Chives are now the mainstay from the onion family. Replacing customary seasonings hasn't been as hard as I thought it might be. I still eat things with gluten in them such as regular bread. He now has gluten free bread and it is tasty enough.
If any of you have gluten intolerance or family members who have it, what advice might you have regarding eating out?

Thanks Pip!
Felt so stressed and nervous over lunch. I did have a go at my roots this afternoon and, although it's only a holding job, it looks a lot better. I will do a proper job a couple of weeks before the cruise.
Then I thought I would do my bonus calories on the recumbent bike. Managed an hour , very slowly -250 cals. It was slow because I was watching 'Secret Helpers' on my tablet, where people from around the world secretly help someone under stress through an ear piece. It was very touching and heart warming and did me good. I think of you lovely women as my 'secret helpers' .
So I feel a bit better, but I don't know if I will go back to the book today. I will have a healthy snack now.
Well done Terry for getting rid of the junk. :flowerforyou: We are worthy of beautiful, delicious, healthy food. Make every meal a celebration.
Now I'm going to have avocado, beetroot and my homemade yoghurt cheese for my snack.
A glass of carrot juice.
Tonight we are having spicy salmon with a giant couscous, green bean, tomato and garlic mix. Sourdough bread for DH. Then stewed plums with homemade yoghurt. Then a small piece of very tasty strong farmhouse cheddar cheese. Then a small piece of plain Belgian chocolate. My meal starts at 6 pm and ends around 8.45. I feel really treated and satisfied. I will have it with a delicious AF drink.
An important part of loving yourself is loving the food you put inside yourself. Don’t treat yourself as a dustbin for junk. You are worth more than that.

Heather I agree, you ladies are like my secret helpers, each one of you share your thoughts, advice, challenges and courage as a reminder that I too can keep going!!

Today is Drop Everything and Read Day!
Oh, how I wish I could do that! "D.E.A.R. programs have been held nationwide on April 12th in honor of Beverly Cleary’s birthday, since she first wrote about D.E.A.R. in Ramona Quimby, Age 8 (pages 40-41). Inspired by letters from readers sharing their enthusiasm for the D.E.A.R. activities implemented in their schools, Mrs. Cleary decided to give the same experience to Ramona and her classmates."
SueBDew - The surprise party sounds like a lot of fun! Glad everyone managed to keep it a surprise.
Roundbutsound - I love your username. Welcome to our neighborhood!
Lisa - You'll be in your own place soon! How exciting!
Pip - Wishing you and Kirby the best possible outcome on his tests.
Terry - I'm happy to hear you're feeling better. I think one of the great blessings of aging and depression is that, however miserable we may be in the midst of the black cloud, we at least have the experience to know that it's probably temporary.
Grey weather here today. It would be a great day to curl up with a book! But I've got bills to pay so I guess I'd better get to work instead...

Heather - I am just plain envious of your long delicious dinners! The last time DH and I sat and had a leisurely meal like that was when his cousin and wife came to visit us several years ago. So much fun sitting around the table, a little wine, scrounging in the fridge for quick dessert and cheese after appetizers and the whole thing. Now, he is plopped in front of the television for every meal and I really don't like to eat like that. I often prepare a place for myself at the dining room table and eat alone without that blasted TV blaring but still, it's quite enjoyable.
Maybe it's the old married couple syndrome, lol. Or the fact that my DH is not a talker and couldn't sit still that long just talking to me.
You are so right about loving the food we put inside ourselves.
Update on our cleaner -- she came by a couple days ago to assess what I had for cleaning supplies and get the lay of the house. What an energetic, positive little gal! She just lives a couple miles from us - 7 minutes to get here on back roads. She said she's also an organizer and people hire her for that. So we are enthused she'll be adding a spark to our house every couple weeks. The dogs LOVED her and greeted her like she was their long lost friend. We are hoping she works out and we'll be in good hands for a long time.
Have a wonderful Thursday! Tomorrow is Friday the 13th!
