Well ladies, I learned something important while I was at my friends over the weekend. I decided I would just walk with her and not worry about my rings for move and exercise being closed before breakfast. That didn't work too well for me. I walked with her on her normal route on Friday morning. It only burned 150 calories, a LONG way from closing my move ring. I was antsy all day because it wasn't closed yet. I actually closed my stand ring (for being up and about at least once an hour for twelve hours) before my move ring for the first time ever that day. Needless to say, I did my indoor walking before she got up and we did the outdoor walking together. By doing that, I was at my "normal" place by breakfast the other 3 days.
As for eating, I didn't have any anxiety over not knowing what my meals would be, therefore not knowing what my cals would be. That was a GREAT realization for me. I did fine, I made sensible choices and came back only .4 lbs higher than when I left. I would bet that .4 will be back off by Friday's weigh in as it is probably mostly water retained from restaurant food, flying and not getting in my normal amounts of water.
All in all a great weekend!

Good morning, Lovelies!
Took only two dialings and less than 15 minutes to thread the robot maze to speak with a real IRS person... guess why? The IRS' computer system is down with no ETA on when it will be back up. HAHAHA HAH!
I felt sorry for the gal.
Machka (((hugs))). Sending you patient energy from my heart. Baby steps.
Heather Brava! Browsing the quick look inspired me to install the Kindle app for pc and download your book.

Katla we had chirping smoke detectors in the house we rented before moving here. Problem was the $#@) things were hardwired into cathedral ceilings! So in the middle of the night Joe got out the ladder, climbed up, twisted the doggoned things out and put them, still chirping, in a box of sleeping bags in the garage. Pfui! Turns out they did have batteries and it was the low battery alarm, but HONESTLY who would put them up where they could neither be tested nor maintained???
pip fingers X'd.
Yes, we were renters for a year. Joe took great care of the yard, we certainly didn't wreck the house, but I did leave greasy kitchen cabinets (I was exhausted). Professional cleaning didn't entirely rid the scent of incontinent old dog from one room. We left our fridge (instead of moving it from Idaho to Oregon) and our wonderful, faithful, reliable, 30yr old Maytag washer/dryer (no natural gas at destination). Owners refunded our $500 deposit despite having to clean cabinets and re-clean or replace living room carpet. We felt that was fair to both. And yes we paid an additional $100/month pet fee for our two 25 lb terriers which I imagine would have recarpeted the entire house. Like Rye I prefer hard surface (thinking vinyl plank) as easier to clean... but Scooter legs are slipping out from under him on the laminate so we've put area rugs down.
Welcome Kristine and Felechia, this is THE group for compassion and motivation. Welcome!
Some blue sky patches, hoping Joe will take us to the beach even tho' it's only in the chilly low 40s. Warm hugs to all, especially those blizzarded in.

Hi ladies. I'm alive and busy. Currently in Stockholm for two weeks of teaching. Stockholm is nice, but unfortunately I'm not in a good place emotionally. Too darn much going on!
I hear the reports about the unwanted snow some of you've had. The snow we had at our holiday home when the grandkids were visiting was very much wanted. Perhaps you can see why.

Barbara: We have already received our tax refund. I was surprised there even was such a thing anymore. Your chirping smoke detectors sound like last night's "wakeup call." We put batteries into the smoke detector that would accept them and everything quieted down. The other one is wired into the house electricity and didn't need anything. I'm glad it was resolved, but what an unpleasant way to wake up. :ohwell:
Penny: It is great to hear from you! The snow looks lovely and like a great playground.
The painters are getting our house ready for paint. All of the windows are now covered with plastic. I wonder how long it will be before they actually apply paint. We supposedly have a 70% chance of rain today, but dry weather tomorrow, Thursday & Friday. It will be nice to have this done and be able to see outside again. Keeping my fingers crossed that the weather forecast is correct and the paint gets done.

Betsy in NW Washington
If I could make it happen I would! Where in Washington are you Betsy? I'm in Whidbey island. I am kind of a homebody, and hate long drives, but I do have this fantasy that we're all in this comute, planting veggies, sitting in hot tubs, and clapping as Heather darts by running, and all the ladies that bicycle whiz by! It's great to ponder!

Just took this picture of some of the 89 cents pint size mums we bought last fall. Blooming like all get out here in Texas in April! They survived our winter and came back as small bushes!

Oooh so I did a lot of the circuit today, I think I got most of them listed on my strength listing. I did 2 miles today, in 40.40 which is ok. I switched it up walking 3.0 then 4.2 mph. I even jogged at 4.5 for a bit. I rock!

Rye ~ You look great! Your father sounds like he has probably lived a wonderful life traveling to all those places to pursue his hobby of climbing.
Mary ~ Your new park spot looks very inviting.
Beth ~ I can’t imagine all the snow you and NY Karen and many more of our Northern chatters are dealing with. I bragged that Spring had sprung over the weekend as it was in the high 70’s. But, yesterday it went down to the 30’s and was icy cold.
Kylia ~ Sorry if this is too much information.
When our last renters left we had to buy one of those machines that gets rid of cigarette smell and ran it for several days. Very expensive. Then we had to replace broken bedroom doors, make repairs in the baths (they moved all the towel bars and didn’t fix the sheet rock), new carpet, new blinds, new screens, painted the entire house inside, replaced a missing fire alarm, repaired the garage door, and a new roof & A/C system (which was needed). We couldn’t charge them for the damage because they had to be evicted after not paying the rent for 2-1/2 mos. When we got all that done, we hired a real estate company to find a new renter and she seems to be very good and responsible.
Heather ~ I will be ordering your book for my Fire tablet but must admit that it takes me forever to read a book. So, I probably will not be commenting on it for a while. I know it will be very successful.
For the last two nights I have slept fitfully and tossed and turned for hours....left side, back, right side and repeat all over again. When I finally get up, I feel like I have been beaten. Told DH that tonight I will get out of bed and stay up if it happens again. May take some melatonin but notice that I have a head ache the next day if I take it.
Good Wishes and Blessings for All,
Carol in GA
Carol, I've read that taking melatonin pills can have some bad side effects but that you can use tart cherry juice, or supplements as an alternative without negative side effects. I have started taking a tart cherry/turmeric pill each night because I've been reading that melatonin is a "youthing" hormone and it's levels drop as you get older which accounts for sleeping difficulties.2 -

Haha, Rebecca, love it, and we all go for a daily walk with Barbie and all our dogs!3 -
Yes Wendy! We shall have a walking trail, and places here and there to sit, and contemplate how awesome we each are. Our kitchen will be one to die for. With many cooking classes from ladies that can do magic with food.
Rebecca7 -
Becca: You have a grand imagination! Are you secretly an author of best selling books about the adventures of old friends? Nice job working out.
Wendy: I take turmeric every day but I didn't know there was a version that includes tart cherry. It sounds appealing and useful.
The painters have put plastic up to protect our windows when they paint. It is raining and hailing today, so it is obvious that painting is at least a day or two away and our lovely view is totally hidden.

REBECCA love you, you have such a great imagination and wouldn't it be great if we could all get together and chat and walk and run and cook up a storm.

Rebecca - Your retreat sounds wonderful!
Heather - can't wait to check out your book!
Penny - I remember the days of snow caves growing up in Indiana in the 50's! Wonderful memories!
Karen in VA - lucky you in CA! I am officially starving for oranges now, lol. Or are they lemons? Either way, I can't imagine just going out and picking citrus like that.
Our little housecleaner did a good job. She's a little spitfire. Back in 2 weeks.
Looks like a week upcoming of rather sunny weather so will be repotting some tomatoes tomorrow into 1 gallon containers, they are outgrowing their warm shelf in the garage.

I bought some ginger/turmeric kombucha, and it tastes like beer. Well, to my gluten-free-haven't-had-a-real-beer-in-years self. It even had a head on it. And the color is right for a pale ale. Kind of yummy.
Those of you who are going alcohol free might try it.
Attended a power class last night -- which is group weight lifting to music -- and boy am I sore. My thighs are screaming at me, especially when I go down stairs -- which is all day long. My office is on the 4th floor, on a hill. I am either climbing or descending if I go anywhere!
Much love,
