Kate - I used to love Hill Street Blues. Your are doing great with the kettlebells.
If you do have a moment could you review the book for me. Your five stars don't show up without a few words added. It doesn't have to be elegant or long. Thanks so much.

Good morning. I responded to several posts, went to next page & lost my post. I know better, bad me!
MATCHKA,Drs told DD to go by week or monthly improvement for SIL.They told her right. All good thoughts for both.
Going to be a busy day.Getting new carpet in bedroom tomorrow. We decided to remove just smaller stuff. One thing sure,a lot of it will be going to the vets charity. They give it away as needed.A box of nice candles in holders. Old computer stuff. Haven’t had a computer for yrs......& the list goes on.Even the Ipot is in there........“Use it or lose” it is my mind set.Amazing how many things in a house are nothing but dust magnets!
DH told DDs “Spring is here when I start clearing out”
HEATHER,what a relief to have your book done! So much work involved. Will you be looking for a new project?
I have 2 Drs. appts next wk. Not looking forward to that, but trying to keep in mind how blessed we are.Seeing what DD& SIL are going thru, along with friends & ppl on here keeps us counting blessings.
This is our Great Grandson who just turned 4 & the little girl ...3...DD used to babysit for.
She was loving her hat & purse.
WOW,It worked!

Lanette, thank YOU! Looks like I have all I need, grow light, garage shelf and is that a row cover or sheet with weighted edge to keep out the cold? I'll prep the area tomorrow but wait til the moon is in Cancer to plant melon seed.
Happy MFP anniversary, Rye. When we lived in Idaho, the local shelter had a low cast feral cat neuter and spay program. They loaned traps to volunteers who caught ferals, brought them in, then released them back to the wild after recovering from the surgery. The shelter notched the cats' ears so the volunteers wouldn't bring in repeats. They also would vaccinate for low cost if the volunteer wanted. Hope your area has something similar for Sweetheart and Skit.
Karen In-Calif-not-VA Eeeeeeeee! Congratulations to Phoenix, and all his family. Beautiful pic of babe, mom and is that dad in the background?
Vickie you have a big heart to open your home to DBIL. My BIL lived with us one summer (along with 3 nephews and a rent-a-son). I have never been so lonely as I was then.

Good morning all! Happy Thursday! Welcome newbies! To join you just read the posts, chime in where you feel so inclined, don't forget to sign your post with what you would like us to call you, and let us know a little about you (your health journey, where you are from, etc.) Be sure to bookmark this thread; then on the last day of April, Barbie will post the link to take us to the May thread. A little info on me: My name is Kelly or KJ, I live in West Michigan a five minute walk from Lake Michigan. I am 51 have three grown children, am married almost 29 years to a man-child (aren't they all?), I am a home childcare provider so I spend my days surrounded by children ages infant to four years old. I am 5'8 and about 80 pounds over my goal weight.
Karen VA- Phoenix! Congratulations! He is a beautiful BIG boy! Love the pictures, I just want to touch that wonderful baby skin. Enjoy your time with the family!
Katiebug- Congrats on the birth of your grand niece!
Trish-Adorable kids!
Sue- Sending love and healing prayers to Connor! Love the pics of your yard! Those pecans that you gave me were wonderful! So fresh and tasty!
Penny- I like all seasons; so like everyone else, I am more than ready for warmer weather. That said, I do love snow! I love your snow pics. The kids look like they are having a ball! (Big kids, too) Sorry for having to sit outside the lecture hall until the door unlocks! That would set my teeth on edge. I am a person who needs to get myself ready, then take a moment to mentally compose myself. Hard to just walk in as others are walking in and get started.
Heather -I haven't bought your book yet, but I will be doing so. I am just so proud of you for finishing the book and getting it out there! So much you have had to overcome; not only in your past, but in sharing it publicly. Not everyone is mentally able to do that. Sending you strength and peace! Glad you are having a good time in York!
News on the homefront: Well, those of you who are facebook friends with me, may have seen a recent post. Due to DH not being able to work right now, I have opened up my home for daycare seven days a week and evenings. I have had three families contact me (within an hour of posting the openings) asking for interviews, interested in the weekend and evening hours. I filled one of the summer spots immediately, as I got a call from a former daycare family whose nine year old doesn't want to go to camp this summer and wants to come here. I woke up this morning to about 17 inquiries about care in my messages.
The interesting thing about this whole development has been the change in how I feel about it. When I was first contemplating doing this and talking to DH about it; I was not very happy about not having any time off. I was stressed about when I was going to get things done, not being able to get over to the inlaws on the weekends, etc. BUT, once I made the decision to just commit to it; things felt much better. I am actually excited for this new "journey". I talked to DH last night and he knows that he and DYS are going to have to pick up some slack around the house and in visiting the inlaws. Fingers crossed I can fill up all of my weekend spots. Then I can start paying off the house, pay for health insurance and still have a bit to tuck away in savings.
It feels really good to just be doing something to "save the ship" rather than standing on the deck while it sinks. You know what I mean?
ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)12 -
Michelle- I think it was you who commented about not having a green thumb? I am right there with you! I don't have any houseplants (that makes me sad), because they are all doomed from the minute they enter my care. I can keep small children alive, but green living things in my home? Not a chance. I had a wandering jew plant, I even named him Moses, but he died a horrible death. Now, I buy only outdoor plants. My mantra on my outdoor plants is "Me, God, and Miracle Grow". They do really well outside. My roses have had a problem the past couple of years with aphids, but other than that they are alive.4

Oh KJ - in one way my heart breaks for you and in another I’m so proud of you! Please squeeze in time to care for yourself. Working seven days a week, every week, is so hard on you.

Morning ladies~
Have my DGD and , Alfie at the groomers and Taliah and I off to take care of the pups and off for my haircut4 -
Beautiful ... the photos of the babies and children just lift my spirit! Thank you for that!
Sue ... my oldest son was a preemie ... with a completely different set of circumstances of course ... but I understand the disappointment and challenges when they are going through situations as a result of that prematurity. Life is truly not fair. But God, who did not abandon them at birth, is still with them and will not abandon them now. My prayers are with Connor.
Kelly ... I am glad that you are feeling settled in your decision to work more, but like Okie I hope you are able to find respite time. Your husband and son must join in this endeavor! Praying your new clients will be "easy" and make the extra work enjoyable!

The reason most people fail instead of succeed is that they trade what they want the MOST for what they want at the MOMENT.
Kim, I think this is the quote you wanted.
Kelly, sending encouragement to you as you start this new challenging chapter of your life.
Jake is feeling enough better now that he had the energy and inclination to some cleaning in the garage so there will be a place to put all the pieces of the new fence that will be delivered next week. The building of the fence will start soon after the pieces arrive but they have to be stashed somewhere other than the yard or driveway until they are needed.

Kelly ~ I put a tearful face on you Facebook page where you described what you would be doing. I hate it that you are having to work so hard but admire you for the courage it must take to do such and undertaking. I hope DH and son will support you and pitch in as needed.
Babies and Children ~ Thanks so much for sharing the photos. Love seeing the looks on their little faces.

Sunny ride this morning, a little brrrr but nice4

Barbara AHMOD - yes, I generally put row cover or plastic over the front of the plants' "incubator" especially at night when it gets chilly. Oh, and that photo was misleading. The lights are generally only 1" above the plants, nearly "kissing" them. Keeps them from getting leggy. I lower the lights as much as I can - they have little chains - then stack the little plants and their heat mats on boxes to get them up close and comfy under those lights which really don't put out any heat. Warmth on the bottom, light on the top. Water a lot but let them drain. Class dismissed, lol.
Need to get walk in then start getting soil mixed for potting up tomatoes kissing the lights!

Hi ladies,
Trish, cute kids!
Karen, a new baby, how wonderful.
Heather, where can I get your book?
Kelly, you are super woman. Your family is lucky to have you be someone who is willing to put in extra. But to keep going, you will have to take some time for yourself. I’m like you with plants. I only have one at home which is a Christmas cactus. I’ve had it for years and it is quiet big now. I water it maybe 3 times a year.
Lisa, love, love, love the bed. We need a head and foot board for ours.
((SueBDew))
Keep sending those pictures of flowers ladies. Still snowing here.

Karen from VA in CA: What a wonderful grandbaby! Wow!!!
KJ: You have a good plan and a great attitude about your DH's situation. I think you are a courageous woman and a strong one. :flowerforyou:
nbbaby: Welcome to a great group. Don't wait to join. Start now! We've had members from all over the world. Our current group is American, American living in the arctic, Australian, British, Canadian & a New Zealander. Machka has most of that covered all by herself, but there are also others. You'll fit in very well. :flowerforyou:
The painters still have trim work to do, but the plastic is off of our windows. We can see and go in and out of any door we want. Yay!!!
Since DH has been put on the FODMAP diet, we've making all sorts of cooking changes. No gluten, for one, and only the green tops of onions for another. We can use garlic infused oil, but not fresh garlic or garlic powder. It is something of a challenge for cooking. We've been using chives bought in the store in place of all other onions. Unfortunately, they don't store at all well in the refrigerator; they wither and dry out. I have chives growing in my flowerbeds, and just moved them into large pots to get them above the level of the dog's "watering service." (TMI) At the moment I have two clumps in pots and I have one more pot available, so I am planning to put it to work, too. All I need is to put already purchased potting soil in the vacant pot and add chive plants.

K from VA in CA2 -
KJ you are such a positive forward moving person, I really admire you. I’m sure you have done so, but make certain you are charging enough. So many responses so quickly makes me guess the demand for quality odd time care is high. So don’t undersell yourself.
I admit I’m worried about you, KJ, that sounds like a lot more than I’d be capable of taking on. I wish I could actually do something, but I am thinking of you.

Morning, all...
Congrats to Karen and welcome to Phoenix, and congrats to Katie for your niece's new arrival!
Love the pics, Trish, what cuties!
Just finished reading the article on Tammie Jo Shults, the pilot who landed the Southwest plane with only one life lost when the engine exploded. I know every pilot's heart sang with joy for this one, and women pilots in particular--who deal with an awful lot of flak on a daily basis. My year as a flight attendant gave me an awful lot of respect for them and what they do. I had one male passenger turn around and get back off the plane when he found it was an all-female crew, no joke. Maybe this will help change people's perspective a bit.
And speaking of amazing women - KJ, you have my utmost respect, but as someone else already said, don't forget to take care of you while you're caring for everyone else. Do I think you can do it? Yes, I absolutely do--you have more energy and drive than most people I've ever met. Nonetheless, it's a lot of pressure being the primary source of financial support. That's been me for the last six months, and it's... discomfiting. Really looking forward to Corey going back to work here.
Katla - have you tried wrapping the chives in a damp paper towel in a plastic bag? Helps them maintain their moisture and not get so wilty. My husband grows his own by just dropping a couple green onions in a bottle of water on the counter. They grow like mad, and you just keep topping up the water...
The house is coming together, and I've done six or eight loads of laundry - the washer-dryer were delivered last night at 7 p.m., as well as the fridge and small chest freezer, so laundry this morning and shopping this afternoon to get things stocked up. All the boxes are placed in the area where they're going to go, so now it's just unloading... sorting, figuring out why the heck I dragged some of this stuff from Texas to North Carolina and then Arkansas.
Corey's taken our son, John, back up to Fayetteville, so I have another half hour or so before he'll drag me off to do a bunch of shopping.
Love y'all!
Lisa, happily settling down in Arkansas
Which reminds me, Dana! It was good to see you post. Hopefully we'll meet up sometime, now that we're both in the same state.7 -
Well, my labs from yesterday's blood tests show my cholesterol is high, and my calcium is high...what? Having a blood test to check my thyroid. And I gained .4 lbs..... Uugh!
Trying to get it all together but seems like I'm spinning out of control.
In Whidbey.

Lost almost 2 pounds overnight. Must be water as I was under the weather yesterday. I haven’t been myself lately. Sleeping too much, headaches, just plain down and out.
I am drinking my water and getting my fruits in. Most of my veggies and about 3/4 of my walking however.
Love all the pics!
