Brava Captain KJ, Brava! The hardest thing will be to stick to the new discipline of DH and DYS picking up the slack. With my man-child, the expectation must be made clear in no more than 3 bullet points. Then I must be playful/determined-but-not-angry when pointing out when unmet. Otherwise, he will let things slide just to see how long I can stand it. If I don't nip THAT in the bud while I can still smile, I end up shrieking then feeling guilty, or just doing it myself. Neither desirable. Can you schedule in a break at the end of summer? Something to look forward to and time to recoup? And as for keeping your man-children on task, would they accept a sticker calendar board? Seems like men need some way of keeping score to do their fair share, and some kind of reward beyond the satisfaction of basic maintenance. Not telling you what to do, just what works best for us.
Lanette "Warmth on the bottom, light on the top" sounds like a loving prescription for more than just seedlings
Katla "watering service" is why my herbs are in pots on the porch and not in the ground. Hope to stake out a pfree spot when they get too big for containers. the "getting started" quote.
Lisa love Corey's grow-your-own green onion tops. Will try that soon as I sign off .
Rebecca Sorry you're feeling out of control. So inspired by your two gym circuit days, keep on, sister!
Rita I misread "getting my fruits in" as "getting my fun in" and thought "Now THAT's the ticket!
Is there an app that can read Kindle books aloud? I might like to listen to Heather's book while moving around. Otherwise will use reading time as motivation to tackle the laundry mountain and today's vegprep.
Time to shower, meditate, dress to shoes and be ready to take Tumble to the Mini Pet Mart by the time Joe gets back from his errands.
Continued healing thoughts toward Machka, her husband, Conor and everyone who needs.
Love you all,

That takes you to the kindle version. At the bottom it says paperback. Click that for the print copy. Thanks.
Trish - Gorgeous great grandson! Fabulous! And sweet little girl.

Today we went to the Barbara Hepworth gallery in Wakefield. Excellent sculpture and absolutely fabulous healthy food in the café. Another temporary exhibition was a stunning light show which you walk through. Crazy weird!
Then we set off for Leeds. We wandered round the covered market and the amazing arcades. Beautiful.
Went back to my friend's for a cup of tea, but I soon made my excuses and left to walk back to the hotel. Needed some down time. And to talk to you lot.
Eating at a 'small plate' place tonight. Quite nearby, thank goodness!

Hi friends. Amazing pictures.
Yesterday my students and I carried and distributed 13,000 pound of food. And no that is not a typo! That is from weighing the truck before and after loading it! We had a food pantry for refugees. We had to take all the food from the dock to the gym (in a school) to hand it out, then many of the students carried huge boxes or bags of food out to peoples' cars or other transportation. I was totally exhausted after four hours of that.

Just a quick pop in, my days are going to be getting more reasonable soon! Take care Meg from sunny Omaha!10 -

Meg--Thank you for helping out at a very worthy cause.

Did Kathy Smith’s Lift Weights to Lose Weight DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a DVD on the rebounder
Wendy – They are definitely bees. Great – bees go to water supplies. And where did I find them? By the pool! I was hoping if anyone could help me, you could.
Karen from VA – Ok, I’m officially in love. How do our members manage to have such adorable kiddos?
Kate – I’m the same way as you. I also enjoy going to the gym. For one thing, for the socialization. The gym I’m going to right now doesn’t have much in the way of socialization. But sometimes I do need the machines and this way I don’t have to have these big machines in my house. Maybe it’s because I haven’t been a member there for very long.
KJ – yes, it’s me who is very good with silk flowers!!! I even managed to kill a cactus once! I remember Vince had a (I think it was a wandering Jew) that was supposed to be very hardy. He told me when to water it (he had to go away on business). He even poured the water out for me so I couldn’t overwater it. What happened? It died. I swear, all I did was look at it. Please take care of yourself. It’s good that you’ll be doing something you love, tho. I, too, hate what you have to do but admire you for doing it
Katla – the dog’s “watering service” reminded me of The Big Bang Theory where Raj was eating a tomato, exclaiming how good it was, until he found out how it was fertilized.
Heather – I’m going to download the Kindle app onto my tablet and get your book. That’ll give me reading while I’m at the Green Room. Many times I need something to read
Stopped at the Salvation Army since I haven’t been able to this month since I’m counting at the church. Got another shirt for exercising. Hey, $3 versus like $15 at the stores. Works for me!!! Then stopped at Aldi, first took this cutting board Denise gave me at her shower so that they can make the words etched into the wood darker. Why she got it this way is beyond me. Newcomer bowling tonight
Meg – what a wonderful thing you do. Those smiles!
Better post this before I run out of time! Have a good day everyone

Good news, DGS is home. The surgeon is hoping to keep him well enough to delay the surgery until after school is over. He has only 4 weeks of school left then will have admoninal surgery.
Came home to a message that my BFF that just moved to Ohio found her husband dead this morning. He has been ill for several years but has been with his family the last 6 months. I am so sad for my friend but happy for my grandson.
Will try to read posts later.

Morning all
I have been extremely busy this week teaching someone a process that I have been doing for 18 years but no longer do from a document they found that has never been updated. It has involved long concentrating hours, then coming home and dialing back to work to get some of my own work done, so we are talking a minimum of 12 hour days. Food and exercise and being on the computer other than for work have gone out the window but just wanted to let you know I am still here.
Hope everyone is all okay - got run back to work
Trish from OZ8 -
Karen from VA, congrats on the safe arrival of Phoenix, such a little sweetie!
Terry, good to hear from you, sending you {{{HUGS}}}.
Katie, congrats on your new arrival also!
Kylia, wow! That's a lot of work on the rental, sure hope you can find someone who will love it like their own!
Sue, keeping Conor in my thoughts. Update: Happy to hear that Conor is well enough to wait for surgery. What a shock for your friend, I've found that even when someone is seriously ill, I'm still shocked when I've heard they've passed. I lost a cousin several years ago, my mom called me and said "Shirley's gone". All I thought at first was "Gone? Gone where??" She had battled cancer in various forms for years, but there came a point when she just had nothing left to fight with.
Penny, that guy was a real jerk! Sincerely hope the rest of the day went well! Update: glad to hear that you are enjoying your time there.
Michele, sorry to hear about your pool troubles, hope it doesn't take too long to get the parts and get it fixed.
Rebecca, it boggles my mind how in our "paperless society" (yeah right!), it takes so long to get medical records from one place to the other. I think the answer may be asking the one office to give them to you directly and then take them to the new place. I don't know the laws where you are, but here the dr is legally obliged to give them to you if you ask. Mind you, he can ask you to pay for making copies too and that can run up, but we can get our records. {{{HUGS}}} for your lab results. Have to admit, never knew high calcium was a thing....
Katla, so glad the painters are hard at it. It certainly was a beautiful day here, would have been perfect painting weather! Glad to hear you have chives growing! When I first started reading your post I was going to suggest growing your own, lol. I didn't realize that I brought some chives with me when we moved. Well, what I did was just bring bulbs, all kinds of bulbs and it turns out some of them are chives! A happy mistake for sure! I just pick to order, so to speak.
Trish Oh, the pics of the kids are lovely! That little girl will be a heartbreaker!!
Kelly, so glad that you are happy with your decision to open up your day care even more! There will be some happy families, for sure! Good that hubby and son will be picking up some slack too. I must join in with the other ladies hoping that you aren't overextending yourself {{{HUGS}}}.
Lisa, so happy to hear that you are settling in Arkansas so quickly! When we moved we were without a washer/dryer for about 4 days. I could not believe how much laundry we managed to accumulate in that time! Crazy!! lol
Heather, awesome photos! Sounds like you are enjoying your trip!
Meg, that's so incredibly awesome! 13,000 pounds of food! Amazing!
Trish from OZ, Yikes! I can't do 12 hour days any more, hope you don't have to do them for too long!
Allie, one step at a time, hon, one step at a time! It will all get done.

Trish from OZ - I have been there, hope the teaching process gets wrapped up soon. Funny, you'd think with the advent of the internet we'd work less... but now it seems we are able to work more from home, and sometimes have to! Thanks for checking in!
Kelly - you have been on my mind. I am really praying that your DH lands a job and you will once again get weekends off to do "Kelly stuff" - tho it's good for the guys (man/children, lol) to see what all you do and have done in addition to looking after kids!
Katla - good day for painting if you're having our weather!! Looks like tomorrow is going to be good as well.
Michele -I love hearing about your shopping trips to Aldi's and different places and the Green Room. You are one busy gal! Did Denise and Pete move in with MIL?
Suebdew - good news about your grandson - crossing fingers he can make it OK thru the end of the school term and have the surgery/rest up. Sorry to hear about your friend.
Rye - I was going to mention you have the bod of a teenage cheerleader! Way to go! Supermodel! That mirror made you look too skinny . There is a feral cat neutering program in our county which is a privately funded service. When we had the farm, we had barn cats - most of them strays. We'd grab them as kittens, take them in to be fixed and first shots, then back to the barn. They always had cat food but also a varied diet with yummy mice. I wonder if you'll have a litter of kittens too. Sounds like you are feeling better - hooray!
Karen in VA - what a nice trip - citrus and cute baby Phoenix. So glad everything worked out and he's a healthy happy little guy! Mom and Dad and Olivia will be busy .
Lisa - love your bedroom furniture and so glad you are getting that place set up. Hope son is OK and his job works out. Does Corey have any ideas what type of job he'll be looking for? Onward and upward!
Good to see Dana pop on here! Loved those photos as well. I never knew Arkansas was such a neat state!
Heather - thank you so much for sharing those photos! OK, I'm going to have to put them on my bucket list. Will soon need another bucket since you all live in interesting places. I've lived in the Midwest and on both coasts so it might be time to branch out and see more of the world one of these days.
Machka - sending good thoughts to you and your DH.
Rebecca - glad you finally got them straightened out at the health center. Cholesterol - bear in mind folks with low cholesterol are more prone to strokes! Not sure what that calcium thing is, my blood tests often have high or low in certain minerals and medical gobbledygook and the doc never seems concerned. I love hearing about your trips to the gym. You are a wild thing on that treadmill... I am too much of a lazy bum to go through the routine where it raises up and down to get the cardio up. I know I should tho.
I got 12 tomato plants potted up into 1 gallons so they'll have to get used to sleeping overnight in the potting shed or the greenhouse which doesn't have windows on one end (breezy!) and a tarp over it rather than plastic. The plan is to set them outside each day when the sun comes out and it warms up into the 40's or 50's. If it's rainy they'll go under the open porch roof. I was able to stick 3 pots into a milk crate so that's how they'll live. Worked great last year, much easier to tote around.
I tossed some grass seed around this afternoon. The drainfield has bare spots and part of the lawn otherwise needed help. I did the drainfield because the house next door is in the process of being sold and I think it was the new owners pulled in and went into the house and I needed an excuse to spy, lol.
Anyhow I think I got a glimpse. Looked like a nice older couple (40's - 50's). Inquiring minds want to know everything!
That's the latest. Hugs and good thoughts all around!!

Hello Barbie and all! I am an unsuccessful MFP user since 2012. Starting April 1st, 2018, I committed once again with high confidence I will be successful this time! I have lost some weight, a few pounds, since I started so I'm very happy! I have found your forum here and I am very interested in finding some great support, advice and hopefully some friends too!
I have questions! Lot's of them! I have almost three weeks in and I'm in a rut of foods to eat. I have to cook for my husband and my mother as well. They will eat whatever I make but I find it hard to make something within my calorie intake. I find hundreds of recipes for dinner and lunches. However, I'm on a 1200 calorie diet. So by time I eat a lunch or dinner there isn't much room for snack, let alone a breakfast. So I eat in small 200 (avg) calorie increments in hopes that I satisfy my hunger and keep my metabolism going good. This doesn't help when I have to feed two other people either. I'm doing well but I feel like I'm about to get stuck.
I haven't started any exercises or walking yet. I am on my feet 10 to 12 hours a day, at least 4-6 days a week. One would think that is plenty of activity but I was still gaining weight. Literally, I get out of bed only to hit the ground runnin', as they say. I literally don't sit at all during those days. I take care of my mom who is 72 (she just moved in with us last September), babysit my three grandchildren each week at random times, take care of my two dogs and my mother's two dogs, take care of ALL the house work, yard work and errands. But I feel like I could do more to be organized and maybe find time for myself. But when I eventually find time for myself I'm too exhausted to even stand to take a shower let alone workout or walk. So I spend that time relaxing and doing nothing if I can (usually 1 day a week). I don't have much time to cook either. Oh and I have plantar fasciitis in spite of it all.
Anyone relate? (I'm sure everyone! LOL) So I would like to start being here when I get the chance, talking to you. This I can do on the go with my phone which may be just what I need!
Suggestions, advice, recipes, etc.? I feel the "rut" coming on! And I surely don't want it to hit me upside the head this time!5 -
Well, some of you may remember me talking about my older son's upcoming wedding and his desire to have his grandmother and uncle there. The grandmother who is in the throes of Alzheimer's and the uncle who is mentally challenged and likes the taste of booze. Well, at least I assume he likes the taste, but then I'm not sure he keeps it in his mouth long enough to really taste, he just kind of guzzles it back. One of the reasons we stopped having alcohol when we had them over for dinner. These are my in-laws. Anyway, hubby and brother in law do NOT get along, hubby has no patience and bil won't listen because "you're not the boss of me!" sigh.... bil also has anxiety issues, I just had no idea how we were going to accomplish all this stuff and without alienating our son. So I had an idea..... Mil had a handyman who did some badly needed work around her house, she then rented out a basement room for him to use as an office. He really hit it off with bil, him and his wife used to do respite care and group home work. So.... I suggested to hubby a few weeks ago that if we still had his phone number, we could suggest that he and his wife bring mil and bil to the wedding and look after the dressing of them etc. He has been thinking about it and Tues night I told him that he needed to make a decision soon. I got up Wed a.m. and the number was written down for me. So this morning I sent an email off to son telling him my idea. I sure hope he understands that we just can't do it. Hubby has been stressing about it ever since son mentioned it at Easter, and when hubby is stressed, so am I. Haven't heard from child yet, but he is at work, so must take that into consideration. He will probably want to talk it over with his intended also. He doesn't seem to make too many decisions without talking to her first. I guess that's not really a bad thing either. They do seem to make a good team, and she really is a lovely young lady. Sure has brought our son out of his shell, he's still not a social butterfly, but he does at least have a social life now! lol
Thanks for letting me vent, ladies, I needed that!
Forgot to mention in my last post: Welcome to the newbies, hugs to those who need them and congrats to those celebrating!

Meg, Awesome job you are doing! Great cause!
Heather, Looks like you're having a grand time! Great pics!
Well today, got my thyroid blood test done, waited 1.2 hours for free prescription refill, ( yay, military clinics), and went to the gym. They have an incentive program where you log what you do, and you get points. A certain number of points you get prizes. I made a sheet for me for this week. Mon/Tues /Wed/Thurs I did 30 minutes of weight training, and 30 minutes on the treadmill daily. Slow but steady! When we got home I got a call from my nurse practitioners helped saying my Vitamin D is low. So here's what I have learned so far.
My cholesterol is high at 258
My triglycerides are high
My calcium is high at 11
My vitamin D is low. Need to purchase a 5000 units daily pill online.
Feeling a bit like a whipped horse! When did my cholesterol go up? My eating has been what I thought was good. Need to print out a cholesterol no-no list.I
One step ahead, two steps back. I shall do the cha-cha in my head I suppose!

Well ladies,I'm tucked in and so is Alfie....should have probably waited a week or 2 for his groomers appointment but oh well...
I hunted down Ice cream trucks as that's what my DD wants for the wedding.and that will be my wedding present..will be getting my son a sleeper sofa for his apartment,so it is fair and equal.4 -
Rebecca, my cholesterol is high in spite of my great eating. Often it is not the result of eating, but just heredity. Since I can't get new parents, I agreed to take cholesterol meds and my numbers are good now. I am careful with my eating for health, fitness, longevity, and weight loss reasons.
TheTink. welcome to our friendly supportive community. I can't relate to your many challenges so someone else will have to give you ideas. I am the same age as your mother, have no grandchildren, walk my dogs for hours every day, and let my husband cook most of his own meals. Keep reading this thread and you'll get some good suggestions.
My walking friend came over this afternoon to help us cut down a lilac tree that's in the way and hasn't produced a lilac in years. It was a fun yardwork event.

Hi again ladies, I am still catching up a bit!
Trish in Oh - adorable great grandson and that little gal with the hat and purse - just so sweet. Was that her Easter outfit? Used to be a big deal for us little girls to wear hats to church on Easter and little dresses and new shoes. And we were United Brethren!
Pip - I bet you did have a chilly ride to work this morning! Brisk but at least not rainy!
Meg - that was the neatest story about the 13,000 of food distributed to the refugees. What a blessing for them and for all of you involved in the distribution! You were terrific in the interview!! Thank you so much for posting that. I am sending virtual hugs to everyone there. Those precious ladies with their babies gave me goosebumps. I wish them the very best in this great country!
Evie - fabulous idea having the handyman and wife take care of MIL and BIL for the wedding. It's so much for you and your DH to deal with alone. When my dad was quite elderly, he had a hired man that actually became his "nurse" of sorts and would help him through medical recuperation and things my sis couldn't deal with (enemas) and such. Dad and Johnny became quite good friends and the whole family was so grateful for him. So I am crossing fingers the idea goes over well with son and his intended!
Rebecca- after reading all about sugar, it appears the darn stuff helps to send triglycerides skyrocketing and of course total cholesterol as well. If you can find some Youtube presentations by Dr. Robert Lustig - "Sugar-the Bitter Truth" he tells a lot about it. You seem to have your eating under control and you are not into the sugar, and as Barbie said it might be heredity. Best of luck and don't stress about it, dear one. My DH has total high numbers like yours, but his "good" cholesterol is very good. His doc would like to see him on statins but overall doesn't seem to be too worried about it. You don't smoke which is in your favor!
OK, now I am partially caught up, lol.

Heather - Thank you for sharing those wonderful pictures. I don't turn my cellphone on unless I need to be picked up from somewhere. Never could be screamed at for 'looking down at my cellphone' ... I would be looking UP ALL THE TIME. Only place I have traveled out of the USA 'proper' is the Bahamas. One of my best friends and her man travel all over the place. Same thing for my oldest sister and DBnL (but not since his stroke 2 years ago). I enjoy their pictures; and, not jealous. I just sometimes wish that we could have traveled more. But, we did a lot of 'fun things' with our boys that they still talk about. That is all that matters - that they have more 'good memories' than not. Another friend, a retired professional photographer went to Egypt. I know he has made some beautiful pictures and can't wait until he posts them on FB. He invented a lighting system called "Tylight" ... I think it can be 'Googled' ... some of the things he has used this invention and photographed are 'amazing'. He also write poems and reads them at a place near where he lives. I'd call him 'genius'. Odd; but, so much fun. I look at him now and wonder, 'where were you in HS'? Very small HS, he was quiet; but, had a really wicked dry sense of humor.
I look forward to all the pictures here and the ones I see of my friends on FB. I forgot what and how small a 'newborn' looks like lying up on the mother's chest asleep. But, don't think we are going to have any more grandchildren. So we will love and enjoy the 4 girls we have. They grow up so fast. Our oldest just turned 22 this past March. Seems like just yesterday I was holding her in my arms at the hospital.
I'm not a very happy camper knowing that my colonoscopy is going to have to be rescheduled. I am NOT looking forward to going through that 'prep'. Keep me in y'all's prayers. I think I have been to "Hello Kitty and back again", just very tired of being poked and prodded.

Lanette: You are a truly a Master Gardener. I'd take your advice any day.
Lisa, Michelle & Barbara: I skipped the wrapping of chives step and planted several new bunches. We had some already that survived the winter and are huge, and then bought two more groupings. They're all now in large insulated flowerpots along my front walkway, above the height the dog can lift his leg. Now we will have fresh chives grown at home without chemicals or dog pee. DH is asking me to put the parsley in pots, too. We have HUGE parsley patches at ground level & I'm currently out of insulated pots, having just used all that I have. I will look for another in garden stores.
Rebecca: You've entered a new world. The secret to success in healthy eating is to measure portions & log every bite and swallow. You can do this. You don't need fancy gadgets. Regular measuring cups will do the job most of the time. Ask one of your sons for a food scale as a present. They're available through Amazon at modest prices. Buy Vitamin D3. It is the healthier choice. I get mine at Walmart or Costco. (((HUGS)))
(((RV Rita in NM))) Be well and happy.
Heather: You are absolutely stunning agt Kirkgate Market--and everywhere else you go.
Meg: I am in awe of your service to feeding the hungry through Catholic Charities. WTG! I am proud to know you.
Lanette: The painters are nearly done with our place but there are more homes to do. There are 14 in all in our townhome community.
The Tink: Welcome!!!! Count calories for every bite and swallow. Buy a food scale or restaurant style dishers to control portion sizes using the food you serve anyway. The dishers look like ice cream scoops. The scale is modest in price. We bought ours through Amazon. The scoops were more costly from a restaurant supply store, but worth it. Then measure every bite and swallow & count calories. Let MFP tell you how many calories you can have.
(((Evelyn)))
Our home is now painted!!! The painters will be here for many more days to complete other buildings. I have all my chives in pots above dog-pee level but now need to find something to do for my parsley. At this point I wash it before I use it. I realize this is a bit gross. Sorry.

KJ- could you give yourself a rest day or half a day? I worry that you will get good tired.
Better get off computer./

Thanks for talking me down ladies! I log, I measure, and I use my scale. It has a feature so I can change it from oz to grams to lbs to kilos. I need to cut out sugar. I need to buy stevia packets. I know my cholesterol has been over 200 for years. I do have a high good cholesterol count. So I think of those guys as dump trucks carting all the bad cholesterol away!
