Just got back from a bridal shower ... I have house goods envy! Seriously, though ... I have to wonder why I hang on to ratty and worn old things? Surely, after 32 years of playing house, I can spring for some new things!

BETH ~ I hear you about not replacing things. Our sofa is probably 45 yrs old but it still looks OK. And, I just got through putting clear packing tape over a tear in the screen door to the back porch. Why can't I get DH to just get it re-screened?

Another good day of logging! My lunch is strange with cottage cheese, white beans, tomatoes and EVOO dressing. Dinner is a can of tuna, fettuccine noodles, and a mixture of mayo and dressing, and cucumbers. Snack is 2 tbs of walnuts! I am amazed at how little I eat sometimes. I was under 23 calories, but my "card shuffling" to get the carbs, fats, and proteins is crazy sometimes!
It's definitely a puzzle!
Hugs all!
Rebecca
Going to walk around today! I hope I find some rocks!6 -
I eat like a single person. Is it wrong to have NO desire to eat what my husband eats??

Finally a beautiful warm"ish" day. Went for a great long walk and tried to pick up the pace to an almost jog, boy I was exhausted! Also got in some yard work, burned a lot of calories today!

Jake and I eat a meal of approximately the same food at about five lunches each week. Every other meal is "find it and fix it". It works great for us.5 -
Went for a walk and put my six beads in hoop earrings!
Watched my husband buy carmel corn and giant chocolate maltballs! I wasn't at all tempted! Husband said, " thank you for letting me buy candy"...

I never ate what my husband did for lunch. Dinners when he cooked we ate the same. He was a househusband, so cooked most dinners.

Hmm a landmine field negotiation at my house. My husband loves cooking up new and VERY calorie heavy dishes. Large quantities of said dishes. He also a) rarely eats leftovers, b) insists I do dishes when he cooks, c) uses every dish in the kitchen when he cooks) d) pouts if I don’t like the dish or eat only a small calorie limited portion, and e) won’t substitute lower calorie ingredients.
But outside the kitchen he isn’t needy or demanding so I do my best to humor him. It certainly made dieting a lot more challenging. Lol.
If I make a roast or steak he’ll eat it. Otherwise he doesn’t come within 10 feet of my cooking. I cook a lot of lunches for myself.
He eats a lot of bread, pasta, and rice. I don’t like rice, I have had two pieces of bread this year and I don’t really like pasta. I eat lots of fresh fruit and frozen veggies. He will have frozen sangria smoothies if I make them and had some strawberries at his mom’s house this year. He WILL eat Caesar salad, but that is the only veg he ever has unless a dish calls for sautéed onions.
We try to eat dinner at the same time.
It is a challenge.7 -

I don't think it is necessarily wrong to eat different foods than your DH. What does the man eat? Is there any common ground that includes things you both enjoy? I've had good fortune by limiting portion sizes and counting calories, rather than by focussing on this group of foods or that group of foods. DH & I often have meals that include some things alike and others different. I'm usually high protein and high fat on average, with moderate or low carbs. I feel good and am getting good news on health reports so I'm happy with it. In my view this is about counting calories and choosing foods that give me energy and contribute to feeling good. Of course, if your husband is eating worms or sawdust I wouldn't blame you for going a different direction.

Heather: Your grandchildren are adorable! I wish I could see mine more often. Envy isn't eating me, but I notice your good luck from time to time. I am happy for you.

Hi friends. Just a quick hello. I got so busy and didn't notice the time and now my blood sugar is heading downward, so I need to make dinner. I got my new fitbit (still can't find the old one) and started the fitbit coaching, so I did a 20 minute workout. Well I tried. Most of it was beyond me! Do any of you use the premier coaching? It's a reasonable price, but I hate to pay for something I'm not going to like or do. I have to get used to this fitbit because it doesn't show my steps, just little lights that go on and off. I can look at the app on my phone though.
OK ladies....I'm off. Sorry this was a short post. Meg from once-again-dreary Omaha.6 -
Hi All ... I am new, recently started Keto and doing well. I am, though, having difficulty with the Recipe section of MFP. It will not import when using a URL and when I put the recipe in manually, still won't match. It did work one time, so I know I am doing it right. Any suggestions? Getting frustrated.2

Lisa, thank you so much. I wish I were closer to hug and enjoy them more. Hey, they live close to Rori, she's way too young to be a great-grandma but I bet she'sa terrific chubby cheek kisser

Awww, Janet! You just have to get over here more often. I don't have any maternal instincts. I'm better with cats than babies. I'd love to meet these beautiful new members of your family.

Very relieved to find this group. I've maintained fitness for 14 years after last baby. But that baby has been sick for 2 years and. . . out the door went fitness. Now at 49.5 yrs. I am amazed at how hard this is to lose the 25 pounds gained (I'm 5 feet tall so for me, that's a lot of weight). Is this typical? Characteristic of my age? I've lost 1 pound in 12 days--slight panic! I've got the calories counted, exercise added, and 10,000 steps in place--geeze this is tough? Is this normal? The last time I had to lose weight was after last baby! I was 33 years old--49.5 is not the same! Advice greatly appreciated.5

Welcome! I have started hardcore logging, exercising and paying attention and have lost 6 lbs since February. It's supposed to be hard. It's not a quick fix you are doing, you're retraining your body, and your mind. That's some messy emotional stuff! Perseverance is my only advice. We are in it to win it friend!

Did Prevention's Get Moving DVD today. The plan for tomorrow is to do Bernadette Giorgi's ab Blast Workout DVD.
Made a grapefruit pie for the gal for mahjongg Monday. Then iced the cake. Hope it comes out looking like a true checkerboard cake. It think I may have put too much icing in the middle because it's pretty high. Then iced the cupcakes I made for Vince from the remaining cake mix I had. Went to PetSmart and then came home and put stars on the grapefruit pie out of whipped cream.
Bought this edible slitter. I'm thinking that might be nice to put on the cake we're getting for the magician show. But the package says that it's for fondant. I'll see what happens when you use it on buttercream. Update: it doesn't stay "glittery". I did see another kind of glitter that came in a spray. The picture looks like it was used on buttercream icing. May have to give that a try.
machka - you haven't mentioned bike riding in a while. Are you able to get any riding in?
katla - yup, you can get two coupons per month. Hey, $2 is $2.
Jess called and asked if we could help her move. Not exactly sure what she wants us to do. We haven't told her that Vince's back is hurting. It's getting better but we did go buy cat food and stopped at Aldi today but I carried the cases of food in the house. Not that that's real heavy. I think she's somewhat anxious about leaving Saturday. Hey, I would be anxious, too. I admire her for being able to do it.
janetr - I'm so sorry to hear about Jack. Will he have to get his knee corrected or will it be that way all the time from now on?
Kim - hope the cardiologist helps your mom
Sharon - have fun at the movies! Is that the one where the girl has real poor self-image, then she falls in a spin class and when she comes to she is super-confident?
KJ - I like the name Phoenix. Jess' first car was a jeep
Heather - you kow I'll put a review up as soon as I (even start) reading your book
DJ - thanks for popping in. You are sorely missed
Barbara - I've never heard of chess and vinegar pie. Well, it's a Southern thing and I'm just a transplanted Southerner....lol
Rebecca - no, I don't think it's wrong of you not to want to eat what hubby is eating. I do that many many times. Like what you did with the beads.
rozv and sgm - welcome!
sgm - yup, it's harder to lose weight the older we get <sigh>
Got Vince to FINALLY start to drill the holes in the tree stumps so I can put the stump removal powder in them. He puts things off all the time. Really, the only reason he even started doing this is because I did it. Actually, I broke one of the drill bits. But that may teach him. He may want to do the drilling and I'll clean out the holes and put the stump removal stuff in them.

Rebecca, nope nothing wrong with not eating what your husband does. My DH’s tastes are different from mine. I’m a plain Jane and he likes savory spicy things. A lot of times we fix our own dinner.
Allie, you sure have been rough on your body these days. Hope you feel better soon.
Sgm1138, welcome to the group.
Well got the living room and dining room spring cleaned then was too pooped to do jewelry. So tomorrow I’ll try the new beads.
