Welcome Patsy, sounds like your labradoodle will make a great exercise partner. My dogs are always reminding me its time to go for another long walk or a joyful run. If you make your goal to exercise as much as your dog wants to, you'll do fine!
Rye, I am envious of your swimming ability. If I could swim decently I would want to compete in triathalons. I hate getting into cold water, I don't really like having my head underwater. I don't like water getting into my ears and I just don't seem very co-ordinated for swimming. I get tired easily when I swim. Wish you were here and we could team up. I'm happy to run and bike, but not swim. I don't mind paddling though, so kayak would be an option. I can ride as well...Now that would be a cool triathalon. Horse ride, run with your dog and bike or kayak across the finish line. I pretty much do my version of that race every week. LOL.

No triathlon for me. I get too cold for swimming, my back can't take the pace and pounding of running, and I gave up riding a bike after a nasty fall many decades ago. My triathlon would have to be walking, dancing, and pulling weeds.

Lanette ... you are so right. It has been the best weather this weekend.
Friday did an 11 mile hike. Ella and I enjoyed, and only saw three people on the trail in our 3 hours. Lots of birds and several coyotes.
Saturday went hiking with two wonderful women and we did 8.5 miles in 2.5 hours and it was a challenge. Steep up and down and felt my body pushing itself.
Today started the morning with a 5 mile walk with Ella and then did a bike ride in the afternoon... I love spring.
Heather, I am enjoying your book and will write a review when I finish it. It brings back memories of my childhood in the 50"s.... some wonderful and some not but I am thoroughly enjoying.
Welcome to all the new members and wishing everyone well this new week beginning.

Did Bernadette Giorgi's Ab Baste DVD. This one was better than I expected. The plan for tomorrow is to do some hula hoop, hold my plank, then take the extremepump class.
Heather - here's hoping that cystitis goes away real soon
machka - I'm so happy for you that you got to go riding. I know how much you love it.
Allie - please take care of yourself
Can't wait until I wash my car, but it's been just a little too chilly
At her rehearsal dinner, Denise gave me this cutting board that was lazer engraved. The picture on Amazon shows that it isn't very dark and you can't see the writing. Why she gave it to me, I have no idea. Anyway, I was looking on uTub to see how to darken it. The only things I could find was to put something around the area, stain the area that has the writing, then wipe off the wax or whatever you used so that the part outside where you want the stain wouldn't get stained. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how not to get the wax into the engraved part. So I took it to someone to have them do it since they do this type of thing for a business. Only they can't do it. Now what to do?
katla - I just google Bobs Red Mill Coupons or go here: https://www.bobsredmill.com/get-a-coupon.html There's a place where those in Canada can get a coupon they can use, too.
This afternoon I tried something different -- didn't know how it would taste. With my tuna instead of mayo I decided to use some avocado. It really wasn't bad at all.
Terry in VT - oh, I like the green beads so much better. You can customize them, too. The options are endless.
Went and drilled holes in the stumps and then put the stump removal in them. Then got Vince to cut down two small trees that I wanted to get rid of. I'm learning how to use the drill...lol
pip - from the damage from the last hurricane, we lost one screen (not the frame...go figure) on the condo. Vince fixed it the same way Kirby fixes his screens only difference is we took it to Ace Hardware.
barbara - that edible glitter (the one that said it was for fondant) mixed with the fat in the icing and wasn't as "glittery". While I was there I saw another one that was in a spray can. The picture looked like it was put on cupcakes. I'll probably get some and try it. Unfortunately, I had to finish the drilling. But I definitely wanted it done. If I were waiting for Vince, I'd be waiting for the second coming of Christ. Hey, I'm still waiting for the quarterround in my exercise room. It's only going on 6 years now. ONLY
bisky - welcome! What is the ETL diet? I don't think I've ever heard of it. Good luck on your tri
I'm starting to get worried about Joyce, too
Wendy - congrats on being paid
Welcome Patsy
Wendy - I'm like you, I'd run and bike in a triathelon, but swimming just is not for me

Hey- I just "spoke" with Joyce. Her fingers are still painting her especially on her cold iPad. She misses us, but just too painful to respond. I let her know that we were all concerned and asking about her. She really appreciates that and it helps her feel better. She seems to think she could just "fade" a way. I told her, no way! She is well loved by us and we are all concerned. We also know she is struggling health wise. I asked her if I could share. She agreed. Prayers continuing for her healing.

Hi Gals,
Machka – the ride and run are things to tell DH about, maybe even pictures? As long as it is a motivator for him, not depressing
Terry – the green glass is great, but other colors would be beautiful as well.
Rye – not childish, it is your way to cope, good for you for figuring out what works.

Catching up on reading.
I did a dozen or so triathlons before I got sick. I miss it, but it is a lot of work and expensive. I have a beautiful tri bike hanging in our garage. So much fun to ride. I learned to swim just so I could compete. I am so thankful for that part if it especially.
Thanks for the update on Joyce.
Welcome to the new women.
Prom was last night for my middle son. I will post a picture when I am not on my phone. They are not a traditional couple, and I know some of you may be offended, but I am very proud of them.
I had a strange experience last night. I was waiting for a text from my son. I woke up suddenly near midnight and realized I had missed his text. I could see that I had a new text, but I couldn't see it. And by that I mean I literally couldn't see it. Using glasses made no difference. My husband had to read and respond. I checked my blood pressure because my husband was suspecting a stroke, but it was fine. I decided to just sleep it off because after a few minutes, my vision seemed to be clearing. I awoke a couple hours later with a migraine. I ended up taking medicine and skipping church. I took it really easy all day, although I went to yoga thinking it would help me feel better. It didn't make me worse, but it didn't help.
My family is freaking a little. I promised them if it happens again, I will call the doc, but for now, I am just treating it as a freak migraine thing. Never had it happen before, though.
Thoughts?

Trish from OZ that's interesting that styles and fads can go world wide so quickly in our internet age. I remember sometimes new fads took months to spread from the east coast to the west coast in the U.S. Now it seems instantaneous world wide. I would love to see a picture of your granddaughter also

Felicia Sounds to me like you were describing a visual migraine. I’ve had migraines since I was a teenager, but didn’t get my first visual migraine until I was 30 something. I thought I was having a stroke or something because I didn’t get the flashy light aura or a headache. But all of a sudden I could not focus my eye at all. It took a couple of hours to clear up.
I set up an appointment with the doctor, but mentioned it to my father before I saw the doctor. He said he’s had visual migraines his entire life and that sounded like what I had. He just gets these bouts of blurred vision. It’s been along time since I talk to the doctor about them or research them but what I remember is that some people experience a migraine only as a visual disturbance.
For me personally, even though the visual migraines are scary, because unlike a regular migraine it is hard to pinpoint what is going on when it happens, I am so thankful when I get one. Because those migraines do not cause the horrific pain that come with my regular migraines. I am also thankful because I get migraines very rarely, and unlike when I was young, they generally only last 8 to 10 hours from start to completely gone. When I was young I would lose 24 hours to excruciating pain. Now I can usually sleep through most of the migraine which I experienced now as merely a very bad headache after the flashy light visual aura. I’ll take a visual migraine (which for me lasts a couple of hours tops) any day.
I would certainly check with your doctor. But since you do suffer migraines, it could be just a different form of migraine.
You take care now, and I hope you feel better very soon.

Rye, I wish I lived closer, I'd come for a pajama party while your hubby is away. We could do each others hair and paint their toe nails. I would bask in the joy of having one or both of the fur barbies on my lap the entire time. I love cats and my hubby does NOT !! We could laugh and giggle until we fell asleep.

Now that sounds fun! I miss having my hair braided, it is long enough, but braiding hair is a bit out if my ability zone. Certainly have never managed to get hubby interested in branding it! Lol! And, Janet, Kidd Kirby is a snuggly attention hound so he’d love you!

Thanks for letting us know about Joyce. I really miss her.
Trisha - can't see a PM.
I'm off to London early today to be with my cancer friend through her chemo. Going to take lots of water with me and some sachets for the cystitis.
DH's niece finished the London marathon. It was the hottest ever. She said it was awful. Glad she got through.
Welcome Patsy.
See you later, folks. Heather UK XXXXXX5 -
Regarding triathlons ...
My husband has talked about doing them but the timing didn't work out. I've thought about doing duathlons (cycle / run ) but they don't seem to be very popular here.
However just on our own we did a few of our own creation where we used to live ...
We'd drive up river with the canoe ... canoe down river for half the day ... put in near home and walk home ... then cycle to the van ... drop off the bicycle ... go pick up the canoe and then grab a pizza.
Start early ... end late in the day. It was a whole day thing.

Good Monday!
Spring temps finally for next 5 days, plus rain. My yard might get mowed before May, but odds aren't looking good. 3 acres that hold water.
Felicia- that is scary! The first time it happened to me my MIL made me eat and go to sleep. When I woke up felt much better. These days I probably would take your stance as long as no other symptoms. I am not looking forward to the potential for migraines with the fronts coming in this week. Lots of water. Keep us posted.
Rye- enlightening that it could be a form of migraine.
Nothing special on calendar this week. Cut grass at rental and work. Hoping for a catch up week.
Have a great day!
Kylia3 -
Slumber party sounds fun! I got a taste of "girl" time last night at ice cream place in town. Enjoyed the time chatting with other wives.
HeatherUK- safe travels! I know your friend finds comfort from your presence. Hope the cystitis clears up soon.
Machka- that sounds so nice. I must admit all the husbands that bike and hike with you all makes me a little envious. Mine won't walk with me. Then again since we are together so much, maybe I need to keep at least the driveway walls to myself;)
Have a day full of the best choices and the movement you can!

Good morn, all. As usual I don’t recall a lot that I read, but do enjoy the pics everyone shares.
Yes,the little girl was in her Easter finrey. She asked her parents if she could take the hat to bed & they parked it on a bed post for her.
JOYCE,could you use a stylus for typing on the Ipad? Maybe hold in your hand till it feels warm? We miss
hearing about you your family. Thanks to the ph call,we know you are ok.
MATCHKAour SIL is showing some signs of improvement.DH didn’t see him for 2 wks & immediately said
“You are looking better,more alert etc”.....slow for sure,but we feel blessed.Not a fast “Ah,ha” thing,but we’ll take it.
Hoping the same for your DH.
The new carpet looks fine, thanks to the father-son carpet guys.In a couple minutes, they had bedroom furniture out of room & were cutting old carpet.Like a well oiled machine, they weren’t talkers, just hard workers. Every piece of furniture was replaced as it had been & in just 50 mins, were out the door.
We cleaned the furniture & tossed a bunch of dust catchers.DH is a “maybe we should keep it to use another day?”type.
Uh,no & no.So freeing to get rid of that type of stuff.Still have clothes to donate.Good things, but of no use to me.
Trish Oh
Pic is bed frame in famil rm & K size mattress & split box springs in family room...........

Hey all! A quick shout out to Michele about her cutting board: I don't know how intricate the engraved portions of your cutting board are, but you could coat the engraved area with nail polish, or use a soft wax or play doh to fill those areas and keep the stain from entering.

Thanks, Dana! We'll check it out, maybe once I get back from my work trip.
Kylia, thank you for checking in on Joyce.
Joyce, dear, if you're reading, we keep you in our hearts every day--you matter. No fading away, but we certainly understand not posting for awhile until they get that nerve pain under control.
Machka, hope all's progressing well... think of you every morning when I open this thread.
Lost exactly 22 pounds as of this morning (woot!) at my 90-day mark, an average of a quarter pound each day, and am so pleased this is working for me. VA's supposed to call this week, and I'll be going through yet another round of blood tests, I'm sure, so I'm looking forward to seeing whether those show any changes in the various levels. Hope I can finally begin the process to get my knees replaced, but will have to school myself to patience--nothing is quick with the VA.
I remembered this weekend that each year that goes by that my heart keeps ticking along undisturbed is the reason I keep doing this. My family has very little history of cancer, but heart issues abound, including my mother, my brother, and my mother's father.
I want to be around to see my granddaughter get married - she just turned three. I want to have every moment I can possibly get with my beloved husband, who's nine years younger than I am. That's why I keep doing this.
Apparently I needed a pep talk!
Love y'all,

Machka "First ride since..." bravely done. Could you see/smell/hear for your DH on these rides? Being confined to indoors must be so very very hard. (((hugs))) to you both.Machka – the ride and run are things to tell DH about, maybe even pictures? As long as it is a motivator for him, not depressing
I don't think he's aware that he's "confined indoors". I'm not sure he's even fully aware that he's in a hospital. I tell him about what I do, but there's no recognition of what I'm talking about and he appears to lose interest within about 30 seconds.
It's all a part of Post Traumatic Amnesia.

Felicia - I agree with Rye, visual migraine. I get them every year or two, generally "zig-zags" in my field of vision or it just really narrows. I haven't ever had one turn into a head-ache type migraine, just the weird vision stuff. The first time it happened to me, I was out of town at a conference and so called my brother - he's an optometrist. He said that's what it sounded like.... and it's one the most common complaints he gets.
Anyhow, it got better. Mine generally pass after an hour or so, just have to wait them out. I too was worried about a stroke.
Wouldn't hurt to check with your doc.

Hi ladies,
Got on the scales today an up 12lbs since December. Yikes! Wake up call. Have to get back to onederland again. 10:00am and so far so good. I’m taking it hour by hour right now until I get back in the groove.
Lisa, sounds like you are coming along with the book. Good job. Snoopy dance for the weight loss. You go girl! Great goals to strive for.
Rye, good for you sticking with the yogurt. Maybe you should try a different brand and see if you feel the same way. I leave the light on too. A little night light doesn’t make me feel as childish as a bathroom light.
Patsy, welcome. This is a great group of positive encouraging women. I too am struggling with drinking water. For me I have to just chug it down and have a glass every time I go to the bathroom (which is a lot once you start drinking water). You can do this!
Dana, love the purple hair. Did you do that when you retired? How cool is that! I may have to do that too.
Betsy, I envy you your hiking. Walking is about the only exercise I can say I like doing. Once this foot is better I’ll be walking the do again.
Michele & Kim, I’m thinking birthday bracelets. Red (ruby) for July, Purple (Amethyst) etc.
Kylia, thanks for the update on Joyce. Is she at least able to read our posts? Send her my best.
(((Felicia)))
Janet & Rye , pajama party? I’m in!
Machka, I’m sure you will be your own duathlons soon. (((Hugs)))
Trish, loved the bed pics. It’s going to look lovely when done. Can’t wait to see the pictures.
Almost 50 out and another nice sunny day. Maybe this is the start of spring. I’m ready!
Terry in VT6 -
Felicia- I agree with Rye and the others I had to rush my daughter to the hospital with the same type of symptoms that you had. They checked for a stroke and then diagnosed her with the migraine.
