The quote I got for the patio shot from 1400 up to 2200 which is steep.but want to have something I can enjoy...6 -
SO tired! Having a cup of coffee right now during the kids naptime. Two nights of up late (for me) and up early in the morning have run it's course. I took a walk with the kiddos and for once was really glad we move at a snails pace. Perfect for today. We stopped at every crack in the sidewalk, looked at the moss growing, the crocus and snowdrops in the woods along the bikepath, looked at bark, picked up a large quantity of pinecones (their favorite things), picked up some trash, petted a couple of dogs, and stopped to talk to a nice older gentleman who was out walking using his walker. The kids were fascinated by that. He showed them how he keeps his water bottle and phone in the little seat compartment. They want one now. lol Short distance (about 3 miles) long time to cover it (about an hour and a half).
Felicia Love the picture of your son and his prom date. And I just love your love for them. This is how it should be. Love shouldn't come with exceptions.
Heather-It is always wonderful to hear some one say that they love you. I don't remember saying it much; until I started losing people I loved. I love you are not good words to hoard and keep to yourself. Those three words can make some one's day, and I am so glad you have people telling you that! Love you, dear friend!
Pip- Does your winter bike also have a wider tire? That is the big difference around these parts. Maybe because we get more snow?
Machka- You are still in my thoughts and prayers daily and always close to my heart. Sending you and your DH much love!
Janet- Was it you that posted the pic of the pretty girl in the pink prom dress? She is just darling! I wish for her the confidence in herself to see the beauty and wonderfulness of being a smart, healthy young woman! I remember those teen years filled with low self-esteem and would never want to go back and relive that time in my life!
Dana- HI!
Meg- You looked and sounded absolutely amazing in that news clip! Wonderful volunteers!
Lanette- Envy you and your ability to grow things! Maybe I will attempt to do a few container gardens this year.
Well, I hear the baby waking up. He will need a diaper change and a bottle. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)

Vision update: I have an appointment on Wednesday with the eye doc. They just want to double check my retina and be sure I'm not developing a long term problem.

Katla, I'm pretty sure my hubby has realised there is a new horse but he hasn't said a word about it, so neither have I! Maybe he hasn't figured it out. Or maybe he has finally realised that the argument is not worth it so just get over it. She is such a smoochy horse and easy to deal with, that I am happy every time I see her and know that she is mine. I have future plans for her! She is going to be my "Costume" horse. I've ordered a book on making Arabian horse costumes and I will make or get one made, just for her. I know with her cruisy horsanality that she would not mind wearing tassels and bells. Re: My son in law asking me to join him on a race: He is a thoughtful and sensitive young man, a teacher and a great father to my two grand children. I have encouraged him to get back into running and now he has set a goal to do his first half marathon. It feels good to know that I have inspired someone and set an example for them.
Heather, well I have been trying to get your book for awhile but the first time I looked on Amazon the kindle option didn't come up and then my kindle app on my computer refused to open and wanted me to put a password in. I tried all my passwords but it wouldn't open and I couldn't even get an option to reset the password. I did not want to download a new kindle app as I have fifty to a hundred kindle books in my kindle library and I didn't want to lose them.. So I've finally found a "back door" into my kindle app that didn't need a password and I am at last, reading your wonderful book. What a rich, detailed memory you have and it brings my childhood back into focus too. And there is that sense of dread, of foreboding about not wanting to go upstairs...I will definitely review it on Amazon when I'm finished. I am really enjoying it and I am very fussy about what I read. If I'm bored I have no qualms about dropping a book like a hot potato as there are too many other potatoes in the pot. Your potato is delicious! Wendy4 -

I just finished a big report, and it's almost time to go home, and since we were talking triathlon earlier, I decided to look back at some pictures -- when I was so tan and super fit!
750m lake swim -- I'm the one holding her goggles and reaching up to take off her cap.
mini tri (different tri than the other two pictures, which were sprints.)
5k run after the 750m swim and 12.5 mile bike ride. I had to stop to give my little guy a hug.
And just for fun -- a backwards picture of my beautiful bike.
I really miss doing this, but it took a lot out of my family. I had to train twice and sometimes three times a day and took only one day rest a week. My longest tri was an Olympic distance -- but the swim was cancelled because of storms, so it ended up short -- just 26 mile bike and 10k run. The swim would have been half a mile in a lake -- I had a wet suit and everything, already to go, but the lightning wouldn't let up.

Allie, you need to be taking that anti depressant girl. Probably why your in a funk. I know I can’t go off mine or I just slowly spiral down. Time for you to get back on track.
Welcome to the newbies. Glad you wanted to join us. Tell us a little about yourself and what you would like to be called. There’s a lot of us and a name and the area you are from helps to keep track.
Yeah! Made it through the day and even came in a little under calories.
Tomorrow is my MRI but will not know the results for about a week. Fingers crossed.
Beautiful day here today. I think spring is finally knocking at the door.

Preventive screening appointment #2 (pardon the pun) is a colonoscopy scheduled for when we return from picking my son up from school. Got a call today form their office ... first time every I was asked by a physician if I needed an interpreter for my appointment. Finally someone read my chart and discovered I'm hearing impaired. I do not need an interpreter as I don't know sign language, but I did ask that they note that I have to "see" them to "hear" them. My husband will be along ... but he mumbles ...6

Hi folks! Popping on to say HELLO!
It's been a busy month. And a roller-coaster ride. I'll spend some time now catching up on everyone's news.
Meanwhile - wish you all good health and happiness.

Did 5 minutes on the hula hoop. You would think with my big hips that it would stay up longer! Then held my plank for 3 minutes, then the extremepump class. After class counted the money at the church, took the deposit to the bank then donations to the soup kitchen.
Kylia - thanks for the update about Joyce. There is no way on this green earth she could "fade" away. So glad you told her so. Next time you are talking to her, send her my best.
Felicia - never had a migrane so I would be totally freaked out. Rey is probably right.
Oh, this weather. Supposed to be in the 50's today and tomorrow, then in the 70's Wednesday. But that'll work since it's raining today and supposed to rain tomorrow. The rest of the things for the pool will be here today so we can start repairing it Wednesday.
KJ - wish I could post a picture of the cutting board, but it's still at the place where I was hoping they'd be able to stain it. I'll probably pick it up from them on Wed. My only concern about using playdough would be being sure I'd gotten it all out before I stained it. Not sure if I can get a toothpick into the engraved parts to be sure I'd gotten all the dough out.
Pajama party! Count me in. Hey, maybe we could have a virtual pajama party!!!!
pip - doesn't the rain on the summer bike hit your butt?
Felicia - I understand how you would want your son to dress up for his prom, but it's his life. I don't think he needs his hair cut. He's one handsome guy. His partner is SOO cute. What a ride they must have had! I don't really care for his partner's pants, but that's his choice. Some of the most wonderful people I know are trans. Vince doesn't agree with someone being trans, but I don't have a problem with it. The interesting thing is that I'm the Catholic. Like I said, to me I'd rather see a happy couple who stays married for a long time.
Rebecca (I'm so tempted to call you Becca) - I'm so sorry for your hubby. I prefer to take as few meds as possible. But I know that there are certain meds that I must take, like the Lamictal, the Prolia, calcium suppliments.
Barbara - I'm afraid that I don't have a steady enough hand to dip a toothpick in stain. I'm thinking of staining the grooves mainly because in some areas of the grooves it's darker than in other areas. If I stain the groves, hopefully it'll all be the same shade of brown.
KJ - I'm sure you've experienced this. When Play Dough hardens (how long does it take to harden?), will it all come out of the grooves? Or do I have to run a toothpick or something like that to make sure it's all out?
Jess flies out Saturday. I can tell she's very stressed. I would be too, to go to a foreign country. True, it's only for a few years. Maybe I wouldn't have a problem doing it if I were in my 30's and didn't have any other obligations (like kids, a house). I don't know if she's thought of all the things she needs to do to have her car registered in NC. Well, she'll be back in Aug. Even tho technically you are supposed to register your vehicle within 30 days, not everyone does. Saturday will be bitter sweet for me. On one hand I'm very happy for her that she's finally realizing her dream. On the other hand, I'll miss her. But I know that it isn't forever (unlike Bryan). She wants to store some of her furniture here. I guess we could do it for a few years. The rest will go into storage.
LHarris - of course you can join. Welcome!
Talk about stressed! We're going to go up to VA tomorrow probably early in the afternoon, help Jess load the truck on Wed, then come back to NC on Thurs. We need to go up in my car. Jess will drive her car here, Vince will drive the truck, and I'll drive my car. I know Vince likes to take his car, but I honestly don't feel comfortable driving his SUV on the highway. Not like it's a big thing, at least I don't think so.
Not sure I can get exercise in tomorrow. The gal who is going to watch the cats will be here between 6:30 and 7. I need to go to the Post Office and then the Green Room before we go. Maybe I can get something in after she leaves.
Terry in VT - good luck tomorrow. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you
Need to go pack (clothes and food)

Stats for today:
*20,000 steps
*210 minutes walking Sasha and Bessie
*110 minutes riding the exercise bike
* plank--one minute fifteen seconds
The first parts of the fence arrived today and the builder got started digging holes for the posts. He also put together the gate.

Beautiful day here and supposed to be nice for a few more. I got some mowing done, also pulling weeds out from between flagstones around the firepit. I was going to spray along the driveway and a couple of other places but it was too windy. doing well with eating.
Felicia - I used to have ocular migraines, zigzags that slowly widened and then faded away. They lasted about 1-2 hours, never headaches though and I haven't had one for years now. DD also has had them.
Michele - How about using a dental tool to get the Play Doh out? I used one to get paint out of carving on doorframe.
Whoever has the labradoodle - We just got a labradoodle puppy in February. She gets hot with her heavy coat. Do you have yours clipped or just bathed when she gets groomed?
Pip - Love that orange bike.
Welcome to the newbies!
Everyone take care, Sue in WA4 -
Hi folks.
Terry - Hope the MRI goes well tomorrow.
Okie - Good job getting all those veggies. I need to increase my veggie intake.
Sue My husband always hired a neighborhood kid to pick up sticks. I probably should've done it for the exercise.
Rebecca - love the bracelet! Reminds me we have a few jewelry projects to finish up soon.
LHarris811 - Welcome! What should we call you? Where in the world are you located? ;-) This us z great supportive group.
Rye and Janet - my 3 sisters and our mother (91) and I gather at least once a year for our "sister retreat" weekend at our lake house. Usually in April after income tax deadline. We cook and eat, share recipes we like, watch movies, teach each other technology tricks and tips we've learned. We are ages 70, 67, 60 and 59. We usually invite my brother and his wife to come for supper one day. He lives on the lake. We're planning it for this coming weekend. It's so much fun. I'm looking forward to it.
Machka Thinking about you and praying for you both.
More reading to do...

Machka "loses interest within 30 seconds" :brokenheart: At least talking and sending healing energy to him gives you something positive to "do". It may be helping more than you know. (((hugs)))
He has no short-term memory. It's possible he might start regaining some long term memory as the days go by, but it will be a while before he regains short-term.
So I can tell him I went for a run or a bicycle ride, and I do, but a few minutes later he probably wouldn't know I had said anything about those things.
He has no concept of time either ... I can tell him I'm going away for a couple hours but I'll be back, and he doesn't know what that means. It could feel like a really long time to him sometimes, or maybe only a few minutes other times.
He had the accident just over a month ago ... he has no idea that it's April, and actually almost May.
So we tell him and talk to him and show him pictures and so on, and keep repeating things like his name and my name (he doesn't know what my name is), and my parents' names, and his sister's name ... hoping that one day the connection will be remade.
However, most importantly right now ... he needs to get over his chest infection once and for all. It's holding up a lot of further progress.
Tomorrow's a holiday, so I'm hoping to run ... or cycle ... or both before I got in to see him.

The news from Toronto is devastating! What has happened to our world.
Yesterday was not so great. Dog, food and a trip to the vet. I really hope that this option of pushing Chico's eyeball back in works. Otherwise it is an operation to remove the eye in 2 weeks.
I know a lot of things can happen. We have no clue what actually happened. Chico stuck really closely to me today.
This morning was good. I was watching Harmony and Keira was able to come over for play while Greysyn was helping with organizing. The kids were all concerned for Chico. I did have skipping ropes for the girls.
Harmony says " Grandma, would you talk to Grandpa for me. I would like my special colouring book and papers to stay here. It would give me better options for my creativity outlet." The girls skipped, cleaned my patio table, organized rocks, sang, danced and caught up on all the news. Greysyn made coffee for my brother in law and I , helped me clean and organize the upstairs spare room ( scrapbooking closet yet to come), spoiled Chico, discussed some movies and let me in on his plan to buy a new amp for his guitar. At times my house was like a 3 ring circus with my cell and home phones ringing, girls dashing in and out, coffee company coming and going, Chico wanting to only be on my lap. Keira has just discovered that her ballet group made it to the dance championships in Drumheller. I am not sure when those are. This Grandma wants to be there.
Jheri is very worried about her Dad. She made him shut down work early and demanded that she let her drive. You know it's bad when he agrees to that. She says she has never seen him work so slowly. He has Doc appointment tomorrow to find out if there is anything further about his heart. He needs to be done this house, finish his friend's car and have a real vacation while we can both get around. He was in pain today and very grouchy. We had company for coffee and I hear him sigh with relief when they left. He could stop pretending he was fine, have a back rub and crawl into bed. The scoliosis is getting so much more pronounced and the arthritis worsens every year. What a pair we are!
My joy today was kisses from Chico. We are lucky it is only his eye. Accidents happen but I wish this hadn't happened to him. Man, I am crazy for that little dog.

Sharon - big hugs for Chico. I missed what happened to him, but it sounds really sad. And hugs for you dealing with other's pain and your own. So glad you have the grandchildren to cheer you up.
Wendy - Thank you so much for those kind words. Glad you persevered with that ×+÷=# Kindle. It really means so much to any author to be told that someone is enjoying their book. It is our reason for living.
You have all been amazing with your support for me. This community has sustained me now, fat and thin, miserable and happy, unlucky and lucky, for so long now. This is my 6th year! Wow!
Please, please, please, if you've read Me I Am, and liked it, write a few words on Amazon for me. It doesn't have to be literary criticism, It really helps the algorithms and also if I'm trying to get a mainstream platform, like an agent. I know, if you are not used to doing it, it can seem a bit daunting, but a few heart felt words are all it needs. Thank you in advance for your support. I really appreciate you.
Yoga today. Then some shopping for the weekend when DH has four days cricket. We are away Wednesday and Thursday in Hove babysitting. I have resolved to do something every day for publicity, but I have hardly had a chance to draw breath, or even be at home to use my laptop for emailing attachments. I can't wait to see the grandkids, but I also love my normal, daily routine, and I haven't had much of that recently. No wonder the cystitis is niggling away. Not too bad at the moment. Still drinking the cranberry!
Lots of love, Heather UK xxxxxxx5 -
Good Tuesday
Yesterday's positives 1) I didn't cry 2) I actually cooked dinner, cleaned kitchen, then watched mindless TV for a couple of hours! So overwhelmed, but know this too shall pass! It is always this way in Spring. I am so thankful for all of your shares! It certainly helps me realize that I am not alone. Knees still bothering me which doesn't help either. I know that I don't think as well when I am hurting.
This morning woke up to the head board lights flashing.....We have a waterbed platform bed with the regular mattress....So my husband stands up and the lights go out! He sits down and they come back on! There is a wood support piece under the mattress that apparently shifted too far towards wall and was hitting the power strip cord! It was a fire waiting to happen as the plug was about 1/8" out of outlet! Funny but scary! We got everything shifted back to safety and plugged things back in. In the process though, I stubbed my toe on the blanket chest and bent the big nail back about 1/2 way. This could be a LONG day! Really need to catch up on things again for work. Maybe the rain will give us a breather today........
Our yard got cut for the first time yesterday just before the rain. It looks good.
We are all so busy! Thank you for the wonderful pictures. I miss visiting my friend during prom time when we would go out to dinner and see all the pretty gowns and sharp dressed guys. Times are changing though and few people dress up for much these days.
Need to get ready for work.
(((HUGS))) to those hurting, healing, or just plain wanting one!
Prayers for everyone!
Smiles for the joys of life as we know it!
Kylia in thankful for awesome support in rainy Ohio

Big changes coming for me. After 20 years, I've pretty much decided it's time to quit teaching these scientific writing courses. They cost me an awful lot in terms of mental energy, and the pay has lagged behind. After deducting the cost of travel and accommodations (which, for historic reasons, I cover myself), plus inflation, I get about the same pay now as I did two decades ago. It's been great fun seeing students find inspiration, and a tremendous ego-booster that someone always writes "Best course I've ever taken" on the course evaluations. But enough is enough.
I've talked to my husband and children about it, and told my teaching colleagues - at least informally - where my thoughts are headed.
But this course has been a big part of my identify for two decades. So as I let it go, I'm sad, relieved, frightened, determined, wavering, convinced I'm doing the right thing, and certain I'm going to regret it.
Thanks for listening.

Did a non-stop strength cardio DVD. I’m thinking that tomorrow I’ll be able to use the stair stepper at the Y by Jess
Sue in WA – I’m honestly going to have to wait to get that cutting board back from the people who tried to color it but couldn’t. I have some tools from when we go to ceramics for cleaning the greenware, but I’m just not sure if the openings on the writing are big enough
Machka – continued prayers
Sharon – I must have missed it. What happened to your dog?
Kylia – so glad you got things righted. How scary!
Penny – best of luck to you. I’m sure you made the right decision
Going to leave for the post office then the green room. As soon as I get back, we’ll leave for VA.

Michelleinstead of play dough, what about actual dough? That should wash out.
Kylia Deep breaths, now. It sounds like you need a pamper Kylia moment like a massage or pedicure or something. Maybe that might help you recapture your equilibrium.
Penny A new direction takes mental fortitude! But instead of regret, maybe think about it as mourning. It will leave a hole in your world, and you will miss it, but you can find wonderful somethings to put there.
Betsy, your dog is a natural smile maker! I hope to see more, what a cutie!

Ginger you retreat sounds so good! I’ve never got on well with my sister - not huge family drama, just not close and we kinda irritate the other. So I am a bit jealous. You have the best time on your upcoming retreat!
Felicia I’m pretty sure you will find out it is a type of migraine that you experienced- but I’m very glad you plan to talk to a Doctor! Your son and date are quite a good looking couple!

I’m never sure what to say about the prom thing, I just smile and ask my nieces a lot of questions when they go on about it. Prom was not a ‘thing’ in my life and it never even occurred to me to go or want to go.
My MiL and SiL occasionally (ok more than occasionally) just shake their heads at me! Lol. Proms, hope chests (when my soon-to-be mother-in-law asked me if I wanted some or other keepsake for my Hope chest I had to ask her what her hope chest was!), jewelry (I wear my wedding ring. Maybe once year I put on a necklace. Just never saw the jewelry thing as been my thing) , shoes, floral prints, etc. etc. etc. - not my thing. I’m just not very girly at all. -
well... except for hats. Dozens upon dozens of hats. . I should start showing some of my hats here.7
