a few reasons. one, i can afford to have more than one bike
2. the winter bike is heavier, has a bike rack in the back, has fenders on it to keep the rain from getting on my butt. the back bike rack allows me to put a pannier (kinda like luggage that clips on to the back
3. the summer bike, is alot lighter, it's a road bike, no fenders no bike rack to weigh it down so i wear a backpack now. the summer bike is just built for speed, the other has got disc brakes and is more for the elements, has more lights on it too.7 -
Did Bernadette Giorgi's Ab Baste DVD. This one was better than I expected. The plan for tomorrow is to do some hula hoop, hold my plank, then take the extremepump class.
Heather - here's hoping that cystitis goes away real soon
machka - I'm so happy for you that you got to go riding. I know how much you love it.
Allie - please take care of yourself
Can't wait until I wash my car, but it's been just a little too chilly
At her rehearsal dinner, Denise gave me this cutting board that was lazer engraved. The picture on Amazon shows that it isn't very dark and you can't see the writing. Why she gave it to me, I have no idea. Anyway, I was looking on uTub to see how to darken it. The only things I could find was to put something around the area, stain the area that has the writing, then wipe off the wax or whatever you used so that the part outside where you want the stain wouldn't get stained. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out how not to get the wax into the engraved part. So I took it to someone to have them do it since they do this type of thing for a business. Only they can't do it. Now what to do?
katla - I just google Bobs Red Mill Coupons or go here: https://www.bobsredmill.com/get-a-coupon.html There's a place where those in Canada can get a coupon they can use, too.
This afternoon I tried something different -- didn't know how it would taste. With my tuna instead of mayo I decided to use some avocado. It really wasn't bad at all.
Terry in VT - oh, I like the green beads so much better. You can customize them, too. The options are endless.
Went and drilled holes in the stumps and then put the stump removal in them. Then got Vince to cut down two small trees that I wanted to get rid of. I'm learning how to use the drill...lol
pip - from the damage from the last hurricane, we lost one screen (not the frame...go figure) on the condo. Vince fixed it the same way Kirby fixes his screens only difference is we took it to Ace Hardware.
barbara - that edible glitter (the one that said it was for fondant) mixed with the fat in the icing and wasn't as "glittery". While I was there I saw another one that was in a spray can. The picture looked like it was put on cupcakes. I'll probably get some and try it. Unfortunately, I had to finish the drilling. But I definitely wanted it done. If I were waiting for Vince, I'd be waiting for the second coming of Christ. Hey, I'm still waiting for the quarterround in my exercise room. It's only going on 6 years now. ONLY
bisky - welcome! What is the ETL diet? I don't think I've ever heard of it. Good luck on your tri
I'm starting to get worried about Joyce, too
Wendy - congrats on being paid
Welcome Patsy
Wendy - I'm like you, I'd run and bike in a triathelon, but swimming just is not for me

With my tuna, (always the solid white albacore, not the pink cat food kind), I sometimes use a nice sweet relish. That's great with pasta and some peas.

Thanks for the reassurance about my recent visual disturbance. I think I will just mention it to my doc at my next appointment. I still feel a little fuzzy today, but I am basically back to normal. Allergies are knocking all of us down right now, so it's hard to tell if I feel off because of those or because of the migraine.
Prom pictures coming next!!!

Here they are. My son (the blonde) shared his sexual orientation with me a few years ago, but this is his first relationship. It's complicated because his date was biologically identified as female at birth. It really bugs me that my son wouldn't dress up for prom, like even wear a jacket! And he didn't want to cut his hair. I think he was trying to tone down his masculinity. He didn't say so, but that's what I suspect. They are a perfect couple and cute as can be, in my humble motherly opinion.
And we forgot to get his date a flower. I felt like a barbarian. In our defense my husband said, "Well, we could just say we didn't know which to buy." I slugged him for all of us!
His date's grandfather chauffeured them in a vintage red Cadillac. They had a great time.

Well sad news my husband's aunt did pass away. Yesterday at 3am. It was due to not taking medicine to get her out of an ammonia coma. Sad, but many times my husband had this, but I didn't let him sit there for 8 hours until it went to her brain. Have people to help you, not be stubborn, when you are more prone to illness, and take your meds is my motto!

Rebecca, so sorry to hear about your husband's aunt. I agree, if you needs med, take them.
Felicia, You didn't offend me at all with the pics. Your son is so lucky to have your acceptance and support as many don't. They do make a cute couple. Looked like they were having fun. I'm so glad you felt this was a safe place to share.
Terry in VT5 -
Felicia, Your son and his date are adorable. I am so grateful to be living in a time and place where relationships are safe and people can love whom they love.

Thanks, Barbie and Terry.
When I hear the suicide rates of trans and gay young adults, I fear for both of them, and I can't be anything but supportive. They are both so talented and confident. I don't want to see anything destroy that.

Rebecca, there is just something about a man in a kilt! You are quite the costumer.
Trish from Oz "house is full of dog toys..." and garage and yard and and and...
Michele thanks for the Bob's Red Mill link, used up the last of the organic flour on firemens' brownies . Could you dip a toothpick in dark stain and "paint" the grooves? Or if you want to stain the board and not the engraving, could you cover it with Silly Putty?
Felicia Thoughts? I think you know what you should do. Listen to your family and call the doc. Hopeful it will turn out to be visual migraine tho' I hate to wish migraines on anyone. You are a truly loving mother and your son and his significant other are blessed in your understanding that love takes many forms. What a great grandpa! What great smiles!
Trish in OH Do your carpet guys do laminate or vinyl plank flooring? Would they like a coastal vacation?
Machka "loses interest within 30 seconds" :brokenheart: At least talking and sending healing energy to him gives you something positive to "do". It may be helping more than you know. (((hugs)))
Dana and Betsy, like Terry I envy your hiking too! I'd love to hike but afraid to go by myself and too slow/out of breath to go with anyone else.
Lisa, you cougar you Great motivations!
Welcome biscky, Patsy from N. Ore. Coast.
Time to meditate, get on my grubbies and play in the yard.

Good Monday morning! We are to have a sunny day! For us it has been a very wet cold spring...in fact it felt a lot like winter!!!
Getting to know everyone. This is a lovely group. I can see it is going to take a bit of time to get everyone straight in my mind. I do adore all the pictures. The prom pictures were so wonderful. I can’t tell you how lucky these young people are. One passing thought...while proms are a big deal, it is so often carried to extremes. Right here in this tiny town, kids (family) have spent upward of several thousand dollars on one night. Gowns, tux, flowers, dinner and breakfast out, hired limo, but it is a very special night. do you remember your prom night? My high heels rubbed a blister and I had to dance in my stocking feet. When we did the Bop, I slipped on the gym floor and almost fell.
Here is our crazy dizzy blonde labradoodle, Katie. She is a world class ball catcher but not too good at returning the ball.

Oooooops! This is a paper mache Easter bunny I made. Wrong photo. I will try again.

Happy Monday gals!
Felicia - cute couple! I agree with Barbie and Terry! Family support means so much.
Funny, I went to the Junior and Senior proms with gay guys! I was the straight gal, and we had a blast. Oddly, being gay wasn't such a big deal back then, at least in my little school. Seems like all the kids had their own things to sort through, not just gender stuff.
Ticks me off that social media now lets bullies have at it without someone else - namely a mature person being in the room right then telling them to knock it off and take care of their own wounded hearts before throwing arrows at someone else.
I have a trans niece-to-nephew - one of the nicest, kindest and most insightful people I know. Love him lots.
Rebecca - sorry to hear about your DH's aunt.
Just finished getting squash seeds into the teensy containers and ready to go on the heat mats, plus phlox and two different colors of bachelor buttons. And some cute dwarf marigolds. If I can get the flowers started OK in containers I think they'll have a better chance at surviving than me just scattering seeds which will probably end up blowing onto the wrong part of the flower bed anyhow.

Love ALL the prom photos.
Patsy - your dog is adorable!!
I left the house today for the first time since Thursday morning. I figured I should interact with another person instead of just my TV Weight was down a few ounces this morning. Still not concerned, I’m going to a crawfish boil Saturday so I’ll eat plenty then. Hub also wants beef fajitas and BBQ while he’s home for the weekend. Lots of sodium there!
Have a great Monday!

Hi all,
Felicia - They look so happy together. Love and attraction take all forms. Luckily we live in a time when our identity is no longer given to us, but we can create our own. Wonderful that they are getting such support.
I'm back from London and my cancer friend. I went back to her apartment with her for a cup of tea after the chemo. I was talking about how I found it hard to believe that my children love me. She said "I hope you know I love you." How lovely. I do know my kids love me, but it's a shock to realise how much they care.
I love my best girlfriends very much. My friend and I were talking about our funerals and living wills. I will miss her so much when she has gone. She is holding on and in good spirits.

SO tired! Having a cup of coffee right now during the kids naptime. Two nights of up late (for me) and up early in the morning have run it's course. I took a walk with the kiddos and for once was really glad we move at a snails pace. Perfect for today. We stopped at every crack in the sidewalk, looked at the moss growing, the crocus and snowdrops in the woods along the bikepath, looked at bark, picked up a large quantity of pinecones (their favorite things), picked up some trash, petted a couple of dogs, and stopped to talk to a nice older gentleman who was out walking using his walker. The kids were fascinated by that. He showed them how he keeps his water bottle and phone in the little seat compartment. They want one now. lol Short distance (about 3 miles) long time to cover it (about an hour and a half).
Felicia Love the picture of your son and his prom date. And I just love your love for them. This is how it should be. Love shouldn't come with exceptions.
Heather-It is always wonderful to hear some one say that they love you. I don't remember saying it much; until I started losing people I loved. I love you are not good words to hoard and keep to yourself. Those three words can make some one's day, and I am so glad you have people telling you that! Love you, dear friend!
Pip- Does your winter bike also have a wider tire? That is the big difference around these parts. Maybe because we get more snow?
Machka- You are still in my thoughts and prayers daily and always close to my heart. Sending you and your DH much love!
Janet- Was it you that posted the pic of the pretty girl in the pink prom dress? She is just darling! I wish for her the confidence in herself to see the beauty and wonderfulness of being a smart, healthy young woman! I remember those teen years filled with low self-esteem and would never want to go back and relive that time in my life!
Dana- HI!
Meg- You looked and sounded absolutely amazing in that news clip! Wonderful volunteers!
Lanette- Envy you and your ability to grow things! Maybe I will attempt to do a few container gardens this year.
Well, I hear the baby waking up. He will need a diaper change and a bottle. ttfn xoxoxo KJ (Kelly)7 -
Dropping in halfway through my first day back at work, it's all going well...
Felicia, they look so happy with each other--there's nothing better than being comfortable in your own skin.
OK, back to grinding through creating 80 donor welcome letters for the board to sign this weekend.
Love y'all!

OregonMother wrote: »Catching up on reading.
I had a strange experience last night. I was waiting for a text from my son. I woke up suddenly near midnight and realized I had missed his text. I could see that I had a new text, but I couldn't see it. And by that I mean I literally couldn't see it. Using glasses made no difference. My husband had to read and respond. I checked my blood pressure because my husband was suspecting a stroke, but it was fine. I decided to just sleep it off because after a few minutes, my vision seemed to be clearing. I awoke a couple hours later with a migraine. I ended up taking medicine and skipping church. I took it really easy all day, although I went to yoga thinking it would help me feel better. It didn't make me worse, but it didn't help.
My family is freaking a little. I promised them if it happens again, I will call the doc, but for now, I am just treating it as a freak migraine thing. Never had it happen before, though.
Thoughts?

Felicia ... sounds like migraine. My YS "loses" his vision with some migraines ... says he can't see things right or read anything. I've had him seen by both neurologists and opthamologists and they have said that there are a wide variety of vision disturbances that occur with migraines. None the less I would see a doctor if it occurs again for peace of mind.
Like your experience, he then gets debilitating migraine pain afterwards ... so it's not just all visual unfortunately.

Welcome LHarris, it's much easier to do anything with a bunch of friends so tell us about yourself.
Aw Kelly, you are taking a huge load trying to keep the ship afloat. I worked three jobs and did full time university extra mural study for a year to get through. It was a busy time for me, but I needed to stay too busy to think, because if I had time to think I would have gone crazy. I got through it but I also had an end date, when I would finish my studies and finish the third job. I can do anything when I know it's temporary and I can just hang in there. I've been holding on for a year now with very tight finances and finally that end date arrived and things are better again. Phew. Life is always changing. Sometimes for good and sometimes not. I had to let a lot of my standards and expectations slide when I was super busy. Had to learn to live in a house that wasn't Up To Standards (mine) and use more convenience foods rather than healthy home made soups etc. Couldn't do the amount of exercise that I like to do. Had sold most of the horses at the time, so didn't have so many to take care of. Now I can do more of the things I love to do. Life is like a circle. Hang in there. I know you are making the best choices you can at this time.
I am just heading out for a run with Jock. Chat later, Wendy5 -

Hubby wants to take me out to dinner because I spent two hours picking up sticks (some very big) in the back yard. Guess what, I am too tired to go!

I'm starving....I'm already eating my dinner and it's only 4:30! I pulled some grilled chicken sausage out of the freezer yesterday. I had a big bag of frozen harvest veggies (corn, red pepper, broccoli, cauliflower & carrots), 4 small zucchini's and 2 bags of spinach. I'm having 1/2 tonight and 1/2 tomorrow night. It is GOOD! I'm surprised how much I like it.

Oh wow, have I had a headache all day. I know it's not migraines its more sinus related. Ouwie!!

Does anyone else develop passions for a weird food that you want over and over again? Lately, I've been eating taco meat with fat-free cottage cheese nearly every day for lunch. It's oddly satisfying...
Oh--and Jell-O. Sugar-free Jell-O like twice a day. Really satisfies that urge for sweet without pumping up the calories.

Langman22: The bracelet with green glass beads is lovely. You are a talented jeweler.
bisky: Welcome! I am impressed with your trying a "rookie" triathlon. It looks like quite a workout. I hope you enjoy it.
Wendy: Congratulations on cutting your mortgage in half! What an achievement! I'm impressed that your son in law wants to do a half marathon with you. That is a wonderful statement of his high regard for you. Did your DH ever notice the additional horse?
Becca: Your DH looks wonderful and in his kilt. I like the roman outfit, too. Is he an actor? PS: If you are really displaced, why be there? Seems to me you're in the right place. Time will tell.
Patsy: I taught in Tigard-Tualatin Schools for many years. The last several I taught US History and Civics to eighth-graders. Where did you teach?
Barbie: Is there a triathlon for stationary bikes, Yoga, and horseback riding? I'd try that one. I'm also too cold while swimming unless the water is warm enough. Pools usually are too cold. :ohwell:
Michelle: Thanks for the information on Bob's coupons. We have everything we need for now, but we will look into it in the future.
kylia: Thanks for the update on Joyce. I appreciate your letting us know. :flowerforyou:
Felicia: I am glad you're planning to talk to your doctor at your next visit. Vision problems are real and can be devastating. My mom had a series of mini strokes that left her partially blind. I'm not sure a doctor could have helped back then, but it was more than 20 years ago. Now they might have ways to protect you from future incidents and unforeseen problems. It is worth asking about. Love the photos of your son and his friend. They're cute and look happy together. :flowerforyou:
Rebecca: Sorry to hear about your husband's aunt.
I'm out of time, and so many posts left unread! I've spent time today getting new herbs and planting them for the season. I also went to yoga and enjoyed the exercise and companionship. The yoga class is made up of mostly people in the 50+ zone, and a few stay-at-home moms. It has certainly done wonders for my physical health & I love the companionship and friendship.
