Hi friends. I was not able to get in here or on my home page over the weekend, but could log food and exercise. Did great Saturday, not so great Sunday. But my blood sugar this morning was the lowest it's been in years. So that's a bit of good news. I'm hoping you all have a great start to the week; there are too many posts too read since Friday so I will say I am wishing you all the best and sending hugs to anyone who needs them! Meg in Omaha where it's still trying to be winter.

Lanette: We've never seen a whale in our part of the river. I would love it if a pod of Orcas moved to the vicinity to eat sea lions. There is an article online about humpback whales in the Columbia River in 2016 & another in 2017. They stayed down river below the Astoria/Megler Bridge. Unfortunately they eat salmon and anchovies, not sea lions. :grumble:

Kate UK: We are seeing less antibiotics prescribed here, too. It was a growing problem and the antibiotics were getting into the water supply. In my imagination, that might create super germs that can ignore antibiotics. I didn't actually look it up but I'm betting that is a good guess. They are still available here, but only in some situations. :flowerforyou:


I have a bruised right thumb today. It is a bit red and swollen, but not black and blue at this point. I think I got it tangled in the lunge line during my riding lesson yesterday. My husband jumped to the conclusion that I'm getting arthritis in the joint. I doubt it and certainly hope he is wrong.

Took last week off dancing and dog group ;(. Some less-than-optimal food choices too. Thursday, Chiro found a pressure point that sent me through the roof... BUT foot is some better thanks to all the suggestions. So much better that I expect to return to dancing Tuesday and dog group Wednesday. Will play in yard today and maybe take Tumble to the Mini Pet Mart.

National News: Joe alerts me to the important stuff, and NPR seeps in when I'm driving. Otherwise it's strictly weather and local.

Finding that the retirement joy of waking/doing what I want, is also retirement's danger. Tend to want (at the moment) to roll over, sleep more, read and eat junk instead of getting up, moving and making good food choices. Should put Barbie's quote on the bedroom ceiling. Thankfully, this morning was different. Woke, did toe alphabets, ankle and quad stretches in bed, got up, helped Joe reposition the TV, meditated, did knee exercises, broke fast and now am ready to start the day. Want to clear the area near potting shelf in garage to move grow light system out from the guest room. Hoping a couple of heat mats surrounded by gallon water bottles will warm the area enough for the baby cucumbers that surprised me.

NYKaren ... I just read that studies have shown that smiling ... even when you don't feel like it ... actually sends a message to the brain that in turn causes the brain to release endorphins that in turn help you feel better.

We only got a skim coat of ice Sunday ... but it's been raining and miserable. Supposed to have snow showers tomorrow ... blech

Happy Monday! I am excited as it is to be 48 degrees here today. I am off at 3pm and have to go to heart doctor. Not expecting anything new ( I hope) as just my yearly checkup that I skipped last year.

Heather--Great news on the book. Hope the sleep issues with you and DH get worked out. I am having trouble sleeping also. Minute my head hits the pillow my mind takes off. Hugs!!

Allie--Good news about the will. Hope it makes things easier.

Katla Totally get it about the antibiotics but as I could have died through not getting treated early enough I'm kind of scared to stop my low dose.

They wouldn't give me the antibiotics because my age means it could be something more serious so a doctor has to check it out. Personally I think I am old enough to know what I am doing. I would only take them if I had to, but I was worried about going away.
So, another pressure today!!! We had to sign all the paperwork for the purchase of the house in Hove. Read through everything. We'll take the form that has to be witnessed next door for them to complete in a minute.
Then I made my own pesto to have with prawns and pasta. Heaven!!!!! +tomatoes and beans.
What a day. I'll let you know the minute the book goes live.
We also have to decide tomorrow what excursions we want to go on during the cruise. Aaaaargh!!!

Many of the essential oils are anti-bacterial and anti- viral. I do treat them like medicine and use them accordingly. Might be an alternative for using antibiotics for some. Have to be careful with pets and children.

Me too. Hoped we’d hear from Joyce this weekend but we didn’t.

The cat is helping me file my taxes by plopping self on top of keyboard. My computer hard drive is failing so we need to get an extra up to the second back-up so I’m at other desk and had to use husband’s computer for taxes. Kidd never did this at my desk.

We were over helping out MIL yesterday and I’m in love with her mirror. I look 10 to 20 pounds lighter than I do in my own mirror. (Imo, anyway - husband said I’m crazy)

Lots of stuff to deal with currently- but did finally finish tax filing so there is that.

So we did some machines, and then I did 1.42 miles on the treadmill for 31 minutes. It said I did 2k on the trail, on the screen. I averaged 145-151 heartbeats per min, I need to research what my target range is. I felt good afterwards. Husband and I are planning this a daily thing, with the weekends off. Husband was always close by, so that was comforting.

Heather and Kate, both in UK - my doc put me on low-dose antibiotics about five years ago, and I've never had any issues, but I understand the fear. Since I've been on them, I haven't had a sinus or bronchial infection or cystitis at all. And I used to pop up with a sinus infection three or four times a year, and bronchial infection every single time I had a cold. For me, they're the best answer, even if the docs raise an eyebrow. And they do, and I'll have to explain it AGAIN to whatever doc I end up seeing here in Fort Smith. Most annoying, but worth the arguments.

Heather - on what's included in the rental, when you rent an apartment, they always have all the big appliances. But in most of the U.S., it's almost always sort of by guess and by golly when you rent a house. Every landlord and rental owner is different. Didn't shock me in the slightest, which I guess tells you how routine it is... and the good thing is, when we leave, they go with us.

Everyone - thank you for the congratulations on hitting the Ones, nice to not have to explain how much of a mental boost that really is. My husband has been so amazingly supportive, helping me make good choices time after time, both in the grocery store and at restaurants, and lavish with praise. But he doesn't get why losing THAT pound is any more important than losing any other! But it is.

I am typing this on my keyboard, in my office, looking at my giant monitor (my laptop's docked to it), instead of in my lap, or on a hotel desk, or wherever. Got the office set up this morning, picked up the modem/router at the company this morning. We're paying $80 a month for screaming fast Internet that is going to be so amazing for work for me, and we get the added bonus of being able to stream any movie, etc., without buffering or data overages. That's the plan, anyway... Nice to be off my phone as a hotspot, which is weak and slow... and expensive!

We'll go pick up our son tomorrow morning in Fayetteville, about an hour north of us, and bring him back down here for a couple days. He's got a medical appt. here tomorrow noon, and we'll get him to that, and then just enjoy his company.

Our rental home's rental lease is a bit odd. Not only can we not have pets, we can not have visiting pets either. That makes having my middle son, his wife and two dogs, not happen. I suppose my son would have to put them in a boarding place. On the good side, included in the rental is a lawnmover, cleaning products, and there was cleaning products already in each bathroom. The downside, there is electrical issues, some sockets not working.
