Heather... Your book moved me in many ways. Loved your descriptive flair and it made me feel right I was back in those young years. What a talent you have.
Janetr .... I agree we have to grab Heather for the "tea". What fun to imagine all of us bringing our animals and our stories and getting together...
Barbie... and the idea of you teaching a line dancing class to all of us, makes me smile.
Rebeccca...I'm between Sequim and Port Angeles on the Olympic Peninsula and that makes us almost neighbors. :-)
Gals, have a wonderful hump day...it is a wet Wednesday here.

Sitting on my patio looking for butterflies, moths or daddy long legs for my granddaughters science roject. It is too windy for anything to fly! We will find out today if Connor will have surgery. We are going up there in a couple of hours.
I was in a drill team with a girl who didn’t know her right from her left so she ore a bracelet on her left hand. That I’ll work!

Penny: Making you sit outside your own lecture venue is petty and dumb in my opinion. I'd file a complaint. :grumble:
Heather: I know someone who lived through the kind of abuse that you did. This person is much younger than we are, in his late 20's or early 30's, and is seriously wounded by the abuse. My heart breaks for him. Unfortunately, I don't have an address for him and can't simply have a copy shipped to him. He shared the information with a mutual friend who passed it on to me without his knowledge. The mutual friend shared with me because he was aware of my regard for this person. Your book is important for so many people. I'm glad you wrote it and applaud your courage. I hope he stumbles upon it at Amazon and gets it for himself.
A quotation for Heather, because you make a difference:
It's hard to make a difference when you shrink from expressing who you are and what you stand for." - Arianna Huffington
The paint crew has covered all of our windows with plastic in preparation for painting our home. Now we're waiting for the weather to be cooperative and for the painting to be done.

Karen (in Calif not VA) Orange groves, hooray!
Rebecca You ROCKED that circuit! Count me IN on your fantasy, in the hot tub, the line dancing, the dog walks and petting Wendy's ponies but OUT of the mucking out part
Lanette could you share details of the "warm shelf in the garage"? Need to copy it for my Beit Alpha cucumbers.
Felicia will look for the ginger/turmeric kombucha, thanks!
SueBDew FloWOWers! Continued prayers for Conor and family .

Michele "...uncanny ability to kill everything except weeds" LOL!
Katla I've been known to dance to my "other right" from time to time. One of the many great things about line dancing is that the people are great, warm, funny and accepting. We've all klonked into eachother from time to time.
Allie good luck teaching Alfie not to bark, and when you do, teach me how to do it too?
Evelyn, neither have I a Kindle, so reading on my pc. Ditto about the feel of a book in my hands, especially before sleep.
Matchka keeping you and your husband in mind daily. Sending healing and strength.
Welcome tchickman, let us know what you want to be called and your general location (state, province or???)

yo peeps-
i listened in on the app. w/kirby yesterday. they are going to hook him up 2 a machine that sees how his nerve sensors are transferring from place to place within his body. that will give them insight on why this feeling (or lack thereof) is going to the other side of his body. they also suggested that he pay more attention to his riding position (bike riding) to see if he can try to stay a bit more upright and shoulders back. they gave him some exercises to do, it was interesting. they said a recumbent bike would be awesome cuz he would be sitting upright. he had one for a couple of years but sold it. we will see how he proceeds. they will probably have him doing physical therapy again. who knows6 -

Of course you may join us. You've found a terrific group of caring, supportive ladies. We have several friends from Canada, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, even one in the North Pole. We all face the same yet unique challenges and we have a wonderful camaraderie.

Thank you Janette
I don't get out of the house much anymore. So I don't have any close friends to talk to. Thank you for accepting me into your group.7 -
nbbaby - what's your name (or handle) and where do you hail from? States/country are good. We sometimes get a lot of gals with the same name, so it helps keep you all straight
Locations are always welcome too - I am the type that can remember better if I am able to visualize the area. Welcome to you and other new folks in this group.
Barbara AHMOD - this is a photo of my grow setup. I start the little things on heat mats in the kitchen until I see a sprout, then they go directly under the lights - either fluorescent or full spectrum to keep growing. I once had hundreds of tomatoes and squash on a shelf in the garage when I grew a lot for the Master Gardener plant sale. Now it's just a few for my own use (and to give to friends) This photo was taken in the potting shed several years ago - overflow from the garage, lol.
My computers are fighting with MFP. I am now typing this on an old clunky laptop - I can get access to the food diary and to change photos/settings on it. The newsd laptop just lets me into the community, which is great, but seems to have lost access to everything since the most recent windows update or CCleaner run a few days ago. GGRR. Same with the Fire tablet - only getting the community.
My new profile photo was taken several years ago - our schnoodle, Sophie, used to sit on a mat on the deck on frosty mornings. Here's her paw and rear print, lol. Can't get the new puppy to sit still that long.
Pip - hope the exercises and different bike posture helps Kirby! That was awesome how you got to listen in!
OK, my back is tired. Heading back to the new laptop in a few minutes.

Our outdoor cat, Sweetheart, has some company this spring. I’m going to call her (I think) Skit short for skittish because she is very much not wanting to get close to us. However she is an adventurer Because she got into our open garage when we were not inside it! I am worried that Skit is pregnant.
Sweetheart seems to have scared off all the other neighborhood cats from our backyard. Like Marmalade. But sweetheart and skit seem to be in agreement that they can share different parts of the backyard. Skit is not regularly eating from our food dish so I’m not sure if Sweetheart just doesn’t let her or if she has other food sources.
This weekend I encountered a neighborhood stray animal organization. I might call them to find out what can be done about Skit (especially if she is pregnant). But I am not one who believes that every feral animal needs to be taken in and caged. While I do think domesticated animals have a better time as indoor pets with supervised outdoor time, I also think that some feral animals have short happy lives on their own. If Skit or Sweetheart showed any interest in becoming permanent part of our household we would welcome them happily and eagerly. Otherwise I want to leave them the freedom to be themselves.

Today marks my 365 day on MFP. Interesting, but not an actual anniversary because I started dieting a week or two before I found MFP and because I now only log my two ‘fasting’ days every week. But it is a good reminder of how far I have progressed in the year. And while I do seem to have gotten my weight under control I have a long way to go to be “fit“. Working on that!

I do think Spring is try to shine. Going to be 50's the rest of the week. My DBIL is moving back in with us today. He will have one bedroom in the basement and DD has the other. So full house again for a while.
Allie-- With our fur babies and barking. I have a spray bottle of water next to my chair and when they bark I squirt them. Any more all I have to do is pick it up and they stop.
After I got off work yesterday I spent 5 hours in ER with my friend. She had shoulder surgery a week ago and second day back at work she got short of breath. Come it find out she has blood clots in her lungs. I was very surprised they did not admit her, doctor said these pills will do the job and is a shorter amount of time. Worry about her living a lone, but talked to her this morning and doing ok.
Found out yesterday also that DH's ex was admitted to the hospital with a brain tumor. Sounds like something that has been growing for years and not life threatening. So they will do surgery tomorrow or Friday. So DD that lives with us and DS are planing to be there.
Blessings, Vicki GI NE
