Hi, I'm trying to reconnect to MFP, and feel a group would be best. Not sure how to get in on all this though. Wish me luck as I stumble around 56 yrs young, 5'3" and 192 lbs........YIKES!!! That's not the same woman my hubby married at 21 years old. So, once again....really........AGAIN.....trying to focus on getting healthy. Thanks! Teri8

Hi Teri! Where are you from?
I’m 5 feet 3 And 3/4 (lol, gotta remember that 3/4!) and started at about the same weight you did a year ago. I’m done losing now and working on fitness and maintenance of the weight loss now.
We are not an official group Just chatty friendly and supportive gals. Chime in when you have something to say! Ask questions, and/or just read along and you’ll get the hang of this thread pretty quickly.
Welcome!

Took a friend friend for lunch for her birthday. We decided to walk to a place that made homemade ice cream. We ended up walking 7700 steps to get there. Well worth it.

Carol – I suppose you could call Jess and Colby a pair. I just overheard her say that she had to come back in August to see him. Seeing how expensive it is to keep flying back and forth, I wonder how much she’s going to continue to come back to see him, especially since she won’t be working and earning any income. I guess we shall see
Terri – welcome. Take your time, just keep coming here. Everyone will be glad to help you if you have any question at all

Pip: You and Kirby look happy together in the photo you shared, and absolutely fit and ready to go.
Margaret & Heather: Your comments to Heather match my thoughts very well. :grumble: I also pray that Heather's buyers come through for her.
Karen in VA: I have great luck with fuchsias because they are on a north facing wall and have shade in the hot part of the day. I also have an automatic drip watering system so that they are watered every morning and evening, whether we are at home or travelling.
(((Sharon in Lethbridge))) You are an awesome, strong and resilient person. I am totally impressed with how well you are handling a difficult situation. :flowerforyou:
Felicia & Karen: I didn't prune my tropical fuchsias at the end of the season, and they are thriving. I did prune my hardy fuchsia but left the stems about 10 inches high. I just took another look at the hardy fuchsia and see little green leaves starting to grow on those stems. It is ALIVE!!!
Heather: I hope that your son will do well at the Brighton Beer Festival. Sending good thoughts his way.
I just received a thank you note from my granddaughter for a gift we sent for her birthday. This is the first written note she has ever sent to me. I asked her mom to help her give it a try. I'm absolutely thrilled. I'm planning to send a note back to her ASAP. It seems to me that letter writing is a fine art that is falling away due to the internet and phone calls. I hope to make it a special "thing" between my granddaughter and me.

It was frustrating to send gifts thru the mail to my nieces and nephews, getting no thank you, or anything. These were gifts from Japan, packaged carefully, only to notice them broken on the floor when we would visit now and then. I just stopped sending stuff. Keep up the great activity.

Oh my goodness!! I had so much fun buying groceries at the Commissary! 59 items for $153!! I bought a lot of protein for husband, ham slices, pork chops, 4 medium steaks, bacon, kielbasa, eggs, cottage cheese, mini light baby bells, pouches of low sodium albacore tuna and salmon! My fruits were just orange and mango juice. I will add a tsp of turmeric in the oj every morning while I swig down my D3 5000 iu and multi vitamin!
I bought two long cucumbers, and I'm going to instant pickle one. Using olive oil, vinegar, and some Caesar dressing!
I bought those pomegranate and dark chocolate pieces for a treat. I get 1/4 cup worth yay!
All and all a good trip. I did organize the food, so l have my own area again. It is easier to fix meals. I have my snacks all out on the counter in a crock bowl. It's a great bowl, and probably really old!
Hugs!

So, found out to refrigerator pickle a veggie, it's vineger, water, some sugar, salt, garlic cloves, and other spices I don't recall. I used my Caesar dressing instead. Didn't put a lot of salt in, just finger tested and went with it. I only have two small mason jars, but it's enough for me!

So pickled and happy in

Morning everyone
I walked the Parkrun yesterday (5km). That maybe nothing to some, but it has been a long time (after effect of my surgeries) that I could even consider a 5km walk. The park run is today (Run, Jog, Walk) but I have to take GD to her driving lesson, but I have decided to do it from now on.

I found some foil covered eggs leftover from Easter. I don’t know if I’m more surprised I didn’t get to them till now - or that I ate them! Does it help that I’ve tracked them???
Anyways, hello to all you lovely ladies!&!
I’ve been here lurking mostly, but thankful to you all for ideas and the support of each other. This month has been a good reminder that there is humanity everywhere I look. Thanks for that.

It's not yet 6 PM and I'm ready to start my routine to go to bed. I've been active all day and now I'm tired. I walked the dogs for 45 minutes before breakfast then met my friend at 6 AM to walk and didn't get home until 8. Then I headed off to teach my line dance class. My class starts at 10 but at 9:30 I lead a series of more difficult dances for a group of intermediate dancers who come early to dance for fun. Then I teach the class for 90 minutes. Today Jake was expecting a phone call from the surgeon's PA that would release him from a lot of his post surgery restrictions. Apparently the doctor and PA were held up in surgery and we waited by the phone all afternoon. I rode my exercise bike most of the time we were waiting and walked the dogs for 5-10 minutes several times during the afternoon.
Stats for today:
*20,000 steps
*217 minutes walking Sasha and Bessie
*92 minutes riding the exercise bike
*taught the line dance class
*plank one minute 30 seconds

Just jumped ahead ... can't read 250 posts; but, I did have to laugh at the comment of 'insufficiently nasty'; is that sort of like having 'essential tremors'. What makes them 'essential' especially if I don't WANT them? I was a paralegal for 20+ years - we had a secretary who would never fit into that category ... nastiest woman I had met up to that point in my life; the only one that was far more mean-spirited was a MD that I was assigned to that I ended up taking her before the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners. I did not want to go through a medical malpractice/malfeasance court appearance because I had lived through her 'quality of caret' and 'failure to release my records' even though I filed enough medical authorizations to wallpaper the entire inside of my house. I think she thought I was 'stupid' because of the unit I was on. WRONG! I was only there because I had not had any medications to treat my 'bipolar disorder' because I had been in the ICU for 3 weeks trying to 'live long enough to get the Lithium out of my system which was toxic and about killed me'. I had one of my former bosses read over it, so she would not have any ability or reason to 'countersue' me. He told me that the Board would probably throw it in File 13; but, they didn't. After he read it, I think he had a whole new understanding of what it is like to be on a psyche unit in a hospital. I had never seen him 'cry'; but, I did that day. I've never been able to watch "One Flew Over the Coo Coo's Nest" ... can't get past Jack Nicholson walking through the 2nd set of clanging doors. Been there, Done that. I worked for a malpractice/malfeasance, large personal injury, product liability firm and I 'loved' every minute of it, mainly because my boss was not a Senior partner, just an Associate - so I did not have to 'answer' to the Senior Partner's secretary (a real B****). The kind you know will do just about anything in order to get you fired. Because of the type of practice and what the secretaries/paralegals were 'expected to do' - I loved the challenge. What really made me 'happy' was that she 'forced' me into going with her and become very involved in the Legal Secretaries Club. She even said that the 'new' secretary HAD to be an officer. She was the president; then we all had to take this 2-day test. I passed it and she didn't. Happy Dance - especially every time she demanded that I stop what I was doing to do something for her. My Daddy was an attorney and practiced for 50 years prior to his death. I might 'opine'; but, I don't give out 'legal advice' because I am NOT an attorney. It is like 'putting lipstick on a pig' ... will only 'frustrate you if you try'.
Welcome to all the newbies. I am totally 'lost' as to what anybody is doing and I don't think I will ever catch up; but, that is ok, too.
Laura - it is always 'best' to track everything that goes into your mouth - helps keep you honest with yourself; and that is what is most important. Lets you know what you are eating and what might be putting on, or taking off, the weight. For me, I need to take a break every now and then. Especially, when I am unable to exercise.
Hi to all you other ladies - the ones I 'knew' when I was on here more often.

Hello,
If anyone is interested in joining an awesome challenge, please see link and join us. I have been doing these with Kristen off and on for years now and trust me there is no better host and organized challenge out there. It is simple and she only has a few rules that she ask of us. I hope some of you join us….please feel free to ask Kristen any questions you may have --- the challenge will only be open for another day or so – I think not sure. I know the weigh in closes Monday at 2:00 CST – Have a great weekend! And here is the link: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10662277/hello-summer-body-a-weight-loss-challenge#latest
I remember when I joined MFP so many moons ago and saw this group and I was only 40 something, well this year I made 53 and I am happy to say I am glad to see you all are still here if I need additional support! Keep up the good work.... you all are an inspiration :5 -

Slight change of plans. I didn't realize that we needed to leave for the airport tomorrow so early so I'll just do Gunnar Peterson's Full Body Workout. It says that it's only 25 minutes. That'll give me time to have breakfast. Vince said we should be leaving by 8:15. I'll just do the core training DVD by him another day.

Hi Gals,
Felicia – cute son, cute couple, if they are happy and respectful of each other, I believe in supporting it.
Rebecca – and DH - sorry to hear about your aunt… sending good thoughts
Jwubben – cute patsy, funny bunny
Heather and Rye - I thought the same thing there were 2 cute young fairies and a fairy grandmom
Fuchsia – also one of my favorites, but I live inland and they don’t take the heat here.
Such a crazy week, made breakfast twice for friends, made dinner for 12, did a snack for my garden work party (12 then too), gardened and embroidered, spent a day taking mom from dr to dr… all is fine, just a very bad cold.
Off to get some sleep

Hello lovely ladies! So much to say, so little time. Feeling more in control ......no more peaceful yesterday and today. Using the rule of 5! Still way behind on paperwork for work, but important things are done! House vacuumed and kitchen clean. Still cooking at home. Have two potential renters! Today the sun is shining, but frost warning tonight.
Love fuchsias! Maybe need to try some hardy ones. I can't grow petunias, but do well with orchids and fuchsias!
Gotta go start the beans for dinner.
(((Hugs)))
WELCOME!
Congratulations!

Did 25 minutes of Gunnar Peterson’s Full Body Workout. Not a bad DVD at all. The plan for tomorrow is to do the remainder of Bernadette Giorgi’s DVD and then some of the Yoga DVD.
Becca – what a shopper you are!
We’re getting ready to leave for the airport. I hope that Colby doesn’t make Jess feel guilty for being away. I guess we shall see. Vince told me not to cry. I don’t think I will, I’m just real happy that she’s realizing her life-long dream. Yes, I will miss her. But I also know that it won’t be forever. I reminded Vince that I really didn’t cry when I kissed Bryan at his wedding knowing full well that that would be the last time I’d ever see him. And I didn’t cry when he went on the plane the last time knowing that that was the last time I’d see him in the States. Sure, I cried when I got home. But I didn’t cry in front of them. That’s why I don’t believe I’ll cry this morning (at least until I get home)
Forgot that I need to go to Target today. I hate the fact that Vince waits until the last minute before doing something. Yes, it gets done (most of the time). We were talking about that at the play last night. The other gal who was at our table said how she doesn’t like to wait until the last minute. Vince commented how he does, then he mentioned about how we need Loki’s med but we don’t need it until 5:00 on Tuesday. He wants me to pick it up on Monday before ceramics. Really? I don’t get to be there very long on Mondays and he wants me to cut it even shorter? Then since I need to go to Publix (couldn’t go on Wed), I’m supposed to stop there on the way back from mahjongg. Thanks for letting me vent a little

I slept like a rock last night and woke up at the right time to take the dogs out at 11 PM and then again at 3:30. It is drizzling so I won't be inspired to work in the yard today. I use some rest. Maybe I can get myself to sit for awhile and get caught up on paperwork.
Trish from OZ, I can't remember if I've seen a picture of Jess, the wonder dog. How great that the two of you have such good walks.

Happy World T'ai Chi Day!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Tai_Chi_and_Qigong_Day
All 3 of our activity center's T'ai Chi classes will participate. I was looking forward to it, 'til I learned there would be an audience to our "exhibition". Hope I can keep my focus on the line leaders and let all the faces beyond them blurr out.
Sharon Brava for taking prudent self-protecting steps. "SHE didn't think (blacking out while driving) was important"??? Words fail... but "batshit crazy" comes close.
Michelle, welcome back, missed you.
Laura Yes it really helps that you logged the Easter eggs. I still have a stashed MayFair egg from See's, and will portion it out in thirds when I really really need that dark chocolate yummm fix.
Barbie did the PA ever call?
Lenora always glad to hear from you.
Okie 6 month old Halloween candy? Really?
Machka (((hugs))) and Brava for the 5K.
Welcome Maria, Teri and IsMollyReally
Time to meditate, shower and prep devilled eggs for today's potluck after our T'ai Chi demo.
Enjoy the day, lovelies!

Hello LENORA!!! I’m glad my friend is back. But I know what you mean about taking a break. I did that too to regroup with family issues.
Going for a pedicure in a few minutes then later DH and I are going out to the fairgrounds for a big Plant Sale held by the Univ. of Arkansas Extension. Going to be fun to talk to Master Gardeners!
Lisa, my friends daughter that was in a coma woke up and looked at her, moved her left hand and went back to sleep. Progress! I know it’s small but hope is there! Prayers are being answered!
Becca good job shopping! Arkansas is talking of raising taxes on food. It high now... 8.5 - 9%!! That’s a chunk of change. Every $100 bought you pay $9 for taxes. Oh well, it’s our choice to live here and I do love it!
Have a happy day!

I did a PR for my 5k today - 48 mins! :drinker: That makes me very happy. A "Good For Age" time would be 44 mins, so I am creeping up. If some of you young ones think that sounds really slow (it is), remember I am 68. Plus I have to keep slowing down and stopping for cars and vans which speed past me in the narrow lanes.
Plus I only started running in January.
We are out for dinner tonight with DH's cricket friend and his wife. Going to the local pub, where I have booked the best, round, window table. Must wash my hair and tidy up a bit.
This morning I did four things for my book. I'm trying to do a few things for publicity every day. Even one thing is better than nothing. Thank you dear ladies for your reviews.
When I go out running I pass behind our buyer's house. I'm sending it good vibes for a decent offer this weekend. It's a nice house, just a bit crammed into its plot.
The rain has held off today, though the sky is very grey and it's cold. At least DH has had some cricket, though it must be freezing. I expect they have been warming up in the club house!
Much love to all, Heather UK xxxxxxx
