Hello ladies: Cool and rainy here today. I took the dog out to the horse arena to run off some of her energy. It is graveled so she gets wet but not muddy. I walk while she runs so I get in some steps too. Food good so far this morning and I have decided not to go to game night at church. DH will go. He is taking tortilla chips and salsa. Everyone was asked to bring snacks.
Rebecca - Can you taste the turmeric in the juice?

Katla - Hope you enjoy the new restaurant and find things to eat there.
Barbara - DD's best friend works for United Airlines so they take a couple of trips a year together. They have to fly standby but it is free. They are both horseback riders so try to book a ride on native horses where ever they go. This time they chose to go to Ireland. Riding Connemara horses and visiting the oldest pub in Ireland were on their itinerary. They are planning to go to Iceland in September.

Busy last couple of weeks we were out of town in Chicago and two birthdays and a flower show when I got back. We also had mice upon our return. I figure they came in because of our massive snow storm. Just starting to feel as if I caught up some.4

Felt really unwell this early evening - nausea, aches and pains. I debated whether to cancel the pub dinner, but thought I could soldier on. Then when I got up to change, I realised I couldn't make it. We rang our friends and I suggested DH go on his own with them. I watched mindless tv and lay on the sofa. Everything aches.
I've put my friend, who was coming to lunch tomorrow , on stand by. I will see how I feel in the morning. I always know I'm sick when I can't face eating anything! Shame, as I'd bought some Dover Sole.
I'll sleep in the spare room tonight so I can wander about if I need pills and water. Hope it's short lived.

Allie ~ At some point you have to extricate yourself from the situation with your DB and SnL. I did that when I and my sis were co-owners of my mom's house and it was like having a heavy burden lifted. From what you have said, it seems your brother got the house on the Cape. Why are you worrying so much about your dad's house when you can get out of the whole thing? Isn't your brother hoping to end up with your dad's house? Sorry if I don't sound supportive.
I have to make a dental appointment next week. I have been telling myself that the tooth pain was from pollen allergies and swollen sinuses but have to admit that there is something that needs fixing. Hate that I lost dental insurance when I retired.

Machka, I thought about you last night. I was at my neighbor's place celebrating his daughter's 21st birthday. She is really his adopted daughter and her real father is not in the picture at all. Her mother died of liver failure when she was 6 years old. Anyway, she went out babysitting one night when she was 18 and was driving home at midnight on a remote country road and missed a turn and crashed her car. When her dad realised she hadn't come home at 6am and wasn't answering her cell phone (they were supposed to be leaving for a hockey tournament at 7am) he went looking for her and found her nearly dead in the car. (He said finding her like that was the worst moment in his life!) He broke out the back window to crawl in and pull her out. He called the ambulance to come meet him and he carried her unconscious to his car and drove towards the hospital until he saw the ambulance coming. She had a serious head injury. She was in the hospital for a long time and her dad set up a roster which my husband and I were on, to sit next to her bedside so that she was never left alone in the hospital because she would wake up confused and try to get out of bed and she couldn't remember how to walk or where she was or who she was. She eventually got transferred out of town to a rehab unit to help her relearn things. Last night I was dancing with her till 2am, celebrating her life. She is fully recovered with no lingering problems at all. So I just wanted to tell you this amazing story of recovery to give you a little hope in your day. The body is wonderfully wrought and given time and good care, it will heal, even serious head injuries. Wendy 11

Had a good time at the plant show and sale. Bought 2 tomato plants. One yellow pear and one dark cherry. I also got 2 irises, an amaryllis and a sedum succulent. All for $12. Pretty good I thought.
I had my gall bladder out 9 years ago. At first I couldn’t eat anything with a large amount of fat. It would go right through me! But now I eat pretty much anything with no problem. Sometimes if I eat too much cheese I have issues so I watch cheese.
Wendy your story was inspiring! You know my friend’s daughter Lisa just woke up after 4 weeks. She went back to sleep. Although she will have an awful shock when she finds out her leg is gone. I can’t fathom how that would be or how my friend will comfort her daughter. Please continue prayers for Lisa Horne and her mother Sandy Shook.

Wendy - Two years ago, Halloween night, DS and DBnL were on their way home with a couple who the guy was trying to mark a few things off his "Bucket List". DBnL got up to go to bathroom; DS woke up and realized he had not come back to bed and found him bleeding on the bathroom door. She went out in the hall, screaming at the top of her lungs for someone to call 9-1-1. The surgeons and Neurologist said that it was the worst bleed they had ever seen in their practice. Spent about 6 - 8 weeks in the hospital and was discharged before Christmas that year. I consider him a 'walking miracle'. After his 2 or 3 head surgeries to relieve the bleed, he came out talking to DS and their girls. Even would answer questions they had whispered to one another. One of her postings to CaringBridge was about him answering or responding to their remarks and he wears hearing aides in both ears (which he did not wear in hospital). The only residual effects his has is that his left arm is a little weak; which means he had to give up his daily tennis game. He moves a little slower with deliberation; but, still he is quick witted and knows everything that is going on.
Sister has been coming down to help me declutter my house. I can't decide what I want (or need) to do next. I've worked on my computer area and it is clean-looking; but, crowded. She has become a minimalist and that just isn't my style. Good for her; but, my home is decorated like a hunting lodge and it will stay that way; but, I did get rid of a lot of 'stuff'. I'd like to tackle my studio because I really think if I could get it fixed up, I would get back into my artwork. Seems like everybody has just 'thrown' things in there. Trey has his space above the rafters; but, his Christmas stuff is thrown in. Have a box spring; but, don't know why we don't have a mattress; other than Jenn probably took it (she did the other twin bed). Trying to get DYS to take the bedframe to use instead of the one that we had to cut because he got his hand stuck in the curve when he was little.
One day, I just need to make it a project to dust off the blinds. I still wish we had not gotten them; but, drapes or curtains would also hold the dust. I just hate that I have to wipe down every single slat - both sides.
Louis and Trey went fishing today. I don't know if Jenn and the 2 girls went with them, or not. I'm just glad they did not ask me, unless I am 'catching' fish, I don't like 'fishing'.
Well - been nice - back into 'hiding' again.

evening ladies~
I am home, after an eventful afternoon... went and got my sons table and chairs and then came home, then picked up Alfie and went to my dads to show my friend through a few of things that she might like to refinish... then came home, called my dear friend Bev and went to her house and had a couple glasses of wine.. which has me a little tipsy
I am home safely and in my pajama's .. and will go to bed soon.. My brother and I have patched things up,,,he is a recovering alcoholic and is on meds, and sometimes doesnt take his anxiety meds and starts freaking out..
took Alfie down with me to Bevs, if something should happen to me Bev will get my boy she just loves him, and will spoil him..

Pip - you remind me of the times I'd listen to Dave Ramsey on the radio and he'd interview folks who'd paid off their debt and they'd cheer, "We're debt free". Congrats! A good feeling indeed!!
Heather - hope your illness is short-lived. My DH rarely goes out among humans because he's afraid he'll catch a bug that will do him in. I must get him to pharmacy to get his 2nd pneumonia shot.
Carol - so sorry that tooth is bugging you. The more I worry about it when one of my teeth hurt, the more painful it becomes. Sending good thoughts that it's an easy and inexpensive fix.
Wendy - that is a fabulous story about your neighbor's daughter. I got goosebumps reading it! Thank you for sharing!!

Dana - thinking of your friend's daughter Lisa. My DH enlisted in the Marines in 1968 with a good friend and they went through boot camp together. They were split up when they arrived in Vietnam; his friend was severely injured in battle but made it home with a "bum" but usable arm and shrapnel they were unable to remove. The friend later lost the arm in a motorcycle accident. He was good humored about it.
Lenora- glad your DBnL didn't have bad lasting effects of his bleeding. I'm with you on the blinds. There are some type of plastic ones (came with the house) in the bedroom and they seem to grab onto everything - hard to dust. I should toss them and get some metal ones.
Katla - regarding absence of gallbladders, seems like when I eat meat these days, my digestion slows way down. Even with all the fiber I eat! Not sure if it's the lack of lots of bile or the fact that I just need more digestive enzymes or what. My BFF gets supplements for that from her chiro, they are made by "Standard Process". I'm going to start taking the liver helper (for folks w/o gallbladders) and the one with the enzymes. Found small bottles on Amazon so can give them a try without blowing my month's allowance on supplements.
Made DH's favorite food for supper - something he'll actually eat for several days that seems to agree with him. I think I've mentioned it before - unstuffed cabbage rolls. Make the "stuffing" with browned hamburger, rice, and tomato sauce, then layer it with shredded cabbage. Dump more tomato sauce (I use spaghetti sauce) over it, bake covered for 45 minutes, then top with shredded mozzarella and put back in the oven, uncovered, for 10 minutes. I use a whole head of cabbage and a pound of hamburger. If anyone wants the recipe, let me know - it came from "Taste of Home" and I can post the link. The recipe calls for plain tomato sauce and spices, so sounds like it's gluten free. We love our cabbage!
Weird story - our new neighbors moved in yesterday and this morning the light in our fridge worked for the first time in 2 years! They must have good vibes ;-).

Allie, I think you need to cut your sil out of your life. I do understand that you want to keep your brother in your life, but if all he's doing is causing you grief and anxiety....... Maybe they both need to just be ignored for awhile. Don't answer the phone when they call, don't listen to any messages they leave, "hide" them on Facebook, if you use it with them.
Oy! once again I have read far too many posts to comment on more than just a few. Please know that I do chuckle at the funny stories, ooh and aah over the babies (human or not!) and think of you as I read your trials and tribulations and cheer when you have victories!
I have given up on the weighing in only once a week, I was hoping that would keep me better on track, but it wasn't so I'm back to everyday. Haven't been doing that long enough to know if it's making a difference or not! Will find out Wed on the "official" day.
My son was "not happy" with our decision to not want to bring Mil and Bil to the wedding and to ask someone else to do it. I was hoping that he'd understand us wanting to enjoy the day without having to babysit two people who don't like crowds or changes in their routines. Sigh. Oh well, it is what it is and we will soldier on. On a high note, I recently found out that our younger son will be moving back here! I'm very happy that he'll be so much closer, that we'll see him more than once a year and that he won't be moving back in with us! That may sound terrible to some, hubby and I both love the boy dearly but neither of us have any desire to live with him again. He is a good kid, but he's loud and just seems to be a large presence in any room, even tho he's not a big guy. Well, he's tall, but he's like hubby was at that age, a stringbean.

Sue: We went to a new restaurant in town that is close to home. The people are nice and the view is spectacular, but the food is not a particular attraction. It isn't awful, but it isn't special, either. I would happily go there for a glass of wine and companionship. We both saw friends & acquaintances there.
Rebecca: Your DH is passing along good information about vodka and turmeric. He isn't silly. Tell him thank you for the information.
Heather: I hope you are feeling better soon. Thank goodness this didn't happen during your upcoming trip. (((HUGS)))

Machka9 - I am doing the "Mothers day classic" which raises funds for breast cancer in a few weeks. It is 4 km run/walk and I will walk. Not done one for 4 years and then I used to run - perhaps one day again
Kylia - Over here in Perth, it is more of a rental market than a landlords market. Where a renter has 6 - 10 houses to choose from. People are dropping rents and introducing 1 week free etc
Okie - Love it - Now that yo have re-found them, will they be calling you. I know anything like that in my freezer would

Was a slug all day and just ate and watched tv. My eating is out of control. I think I’m more nervous about the MRI results than I think. Tuesday I’ll know the results.

I’m a bachelor this weekend. I don’t like it. If I could drive maybe I wouldn’t feel so ... scared and vulnerable I guess. Not eating well probably isn’t helping.
I am very glad for texting. The last time we were apart we had a pay for every text plan, so there was pretty much a check in call each day but that was it. Now I’ve heard from him several texts today.
I went out walking today, in a T-shirt husband bought for me at x-mas. It says ‘In my day there were NINE planets’ and has colorful Drawings of the planets. Two people stopped me to compliment the shirt. lol- I texted husband that and I swear I could see him grinning and congratulating himself on the good gift!

How time flies. My eldest niece just invited us to her college graduation. Another niece graduates High School, and MIL is having a family brunch to celebrate the HS graduation next weekend. In my mind’s eye these two are about 10 yo and 6 yo. How funny time is.
Well, maybe I should head to bed early.
