9 AM start for the 5k, then 9:45 AM start for the 10k. I might have to run the 5k twice or stand around for 20 mins
You are planning to run the 5K hard, right? I know for me, when temps are below 40, regulating my body temp after an anaerobic run is always an issue. There is no way that I could stop running between the races. I would definitely have to plan on doing a recovery jog between the races. I am not sure if this is a common problem or an issue specific to me though. I thought that I recall that you might have had a similar issue after another recent race, which is why I brought it up.
Good luck on your races!!!

@PastorVincent I like that plan too. I haven't run a full 10k in awhile, but I'm feeling pretty strong. I think I can run a good portion of it. It's a pretty easy course. I'll let you guys know how it goes tomorrow!3
-
@zerlinna87 just take it easy and enjoy it. You'll do great!1

4/1 - REST
4/2 - 5.19 (trail)
4/3 - 3.39
4/4 - 5.38 (trail)
4/5 - 4
My usual Friday morning Body Pump class was cancelled. The original instructor quit, and they haven't filled all her classes yet. Was kind of bummed, but got a decent incline treadmill walk in. Wasn't too happy with my calories burned for the day, so banged out a super fast 3 miles to give me a good buffer. Glad I went out when I did, because it's a STUPID SLOSHY SNOWY MESS NOW. FFS STOP IT.

I'm numb. I'm not ready to say I have the C-word yet, but I'm dropping all kinds of f-bombs here.
Blood work today, CT scans Monday, ultrasounds Tuesday, surgery Wednesday. Our goal is to avoid chemo. Avoid surgery, there's still a 50% chance I'll need it, but the kind I need is generally tolerated well and I shouldn't lose my hair. Since I keep hitting the unlucky lottery, I'm mentally preparing to need the other option.
I'm under doctors orders to run everyday until my surgery. (My sister is a doctor and told me to run. While she's not MY doctor, she is A doctor so it counts). Dragged my husband to the gym with me so I could run on the treadmill while he hit the weights to work out some frustration. 1.5 miles run for me today.
April goals:
Get cleared to run again - done
Run 20 miles - 2.5/20 (subject to revision)24 -

It's snowing here in MA and I am seriously fed up with it. Retirement to the Carolinas is looking more and more appealing.1 -
Wellll I did it, signed up for a 10k on May 19th. I'm so psyched. Also have a 5k I'm doing next weekend which should be cake..I mean i know i can do it. Hell i could do that 10k next weekend..I mean i have never ran that far..but I know I could do it. As long as I pace myself..6

Praying for you girl. I can't imagine how tough this must be.1 -
4/1 - 4/8 ADK vacation, no running!
So today is our last day of our ADK vacation! I didn't do any running, but we spent each morning hiking. Some hikes were fairly short and others were upwards of 6 miles. My legs burned climbing some of the mountains and my quads felt it on the descents for sure!
I'm a little worried about how I'll feel running on Monday, but I'm ready to get back into it!
My April goal is 125 miles. I'm starting up level three of half marathon training just to keep myself in shape for the summer.
Time to catch up on 300+ posts!
3/18/2018 Shamrock half marathon
3/24/2018 Don't Sit on Colon Cancer 5K
10/7/2018 Crawlin Crab half marathon
10/13/2018 Joggin for Frogmen 5K
11/18/2018 Norfolk Harbor half marathon4 -

And here I was this morning complaining about 90 degrees and next weeks possibly 100s.1 -
Huge hugs to you, @eponine1984. I can’t even imagine how stressful this all is for you.1
-
Oh @eponine1984 that all sucks, not what you need on top of the traumatic experience you’ve already suffered. Big hugs.
And your sister is a very wise woman and an excellent doctor. Follow the doctors orders to the letter.2 -
My conundrum on when I was going to get 11 miles in this weekend has been solved. My son's soccer game tomorrow was cancelled due to weather. While this is good for my schedule and training, it's a bummer of epic proportions for him. He just joined this team this year--a competitive-level team--and this was to be his first game. There's been one game played that he had to miss, one additional game cancellation due to weather, and a bye week since the season started so we were hoping finally tomorrow would be the day. Sigh. Oh well. Now to plot which trail I want tomorrow and what time. It's supposed to warm up in the afternoon, but part of me wants to bang it out early so I can be on top of the rest of my weekend.0
-
Rest day today, much appreciated. Tomorrow, I'll be doing my last last longer run before my half marathon in two weeks. Looking forward to a bit of cutting back on both running and circuit training these 2 weeks, which is partially due to travel next week as well, but I want to be more fresh going into the race. Unlike some of you I feel like I'm an excellent taper-er! Always kind of happy to have a bit of a break, although it means a bit less eating too.
Good luck to everyone on their races this weekend. Wishing you no rain/snow and not too cold (but not TOO warm) temps. Can't wait to hear everyone's race reports when you are done, from 5k to ultra - we like to hear and cheer (or commiserate if the situation demands).
@eponine1984 still thinking of you. I probably don't have to advise it if your sister is a doctor, but don't be afraid to get a second/third opinion - sounds like a pretty rare and individualized thing. Best to you in whatever ongoing treatment you will need.

I haven't been over here to post since Tuesday and I am already almost 10 pages behind... its only been 2.5 days people! Wow!!
@eponine1984 - while I haven't read all the posts yet I had to go back and see what was up with you and I wish it was better news! I think your sister is very wise to get you out running! I am sure she realizes how much it will help with your stress right now. I am thinking positive thoughts for you that all the tests will come out clean and you won't need chemo! Hang in there!
Good luck to everyone racing this weekend! I hope you have an awesome time and aren't hit by epic terrible weather!
I have run pretty much every day this week and have a long run planned for tomorrow. I am looking at HM training plans and trying to decide what my goal is for the race in July. I will be running with my daughter again but she has lost a ton of weight and has been doing spin classes 5-6 times a week this winter. She ran for the 1st time yesterday and texted me how much she hated it - I have a feeling she may be faster than me now so my goal may end up being to be able to run fast enough to keep up with her!

I received an email this evening telling me I won free entry into a 5k in a couple of weeks! My professional organization is a sponsor of the race and had a drawing for a couple of slots for its members! I was already thinking about running in it, but free is always more convincing.17

@eponine1984 I can't find the words, but I have so many feelings. Hugs. I like your sister.1 -
Good luck to everyone running races this weekend; can't wait to read the race reports!
@marisap2010 Congrats on the free race entry!!!
Today's run was...interesting. Thunderstorms, rain, hail, lightning, and tornado sirens going off; but to hell with that, after missing last week's 50K run by just 0.03 km, I finally got the mileage in today for Garmin to award me my 50K badge, lol.

Hi everyone, so I am very far behind on reading comments and announcing my goal. Due to a lot of competing priorities this month I am setting my goal to 50 miles. I am very happy with my start to the month and hope to push well past my goal. We will see...

@eponine1984 That's awful what you're going through. I'm floored by how something so wonderful (finding out you were pregnant) could turn into something so terrible so quickly. I'm a praying person, so know that I've got you on my list
And defińitely take your sister's advice!1 -
@eponine1984 I am so sorry to hear that1
-
Some um... the weather PREDICTION is pretty much unchanged...
BUT THERE IS TWO INCHES OF SNOW OUT THERE. Seriously? Do the weather people just say stuff like "The computer predicts no snow, so there is no snow?"
Well, 2 inches of snow on the route will probably make new PRs much harder.
@MobyCarp Thanks for the breakdown. That makes a lot of sense.
@lporter229 yeah, there is no way I can stand around between races. I probably will have 20 or so minutes. So I figure that means I can run 7-9 mins away and then 7-9 mins back to the starting line. Then bounce in place or something for a few mins while they herd all the cats to the starting line and let us go.
Also this time I should probably make sure to eat between the runs so I do not have another glucose crash. That was not fun.

Sorry lost track of who else is racing today... whoever you are, GOOD LUCK, KNOCK THEM DEAD!3

@eponine1984 *hugs*1

Took me a while to find the thread!!! I went AWOL at the end of march but let's try this again! My target for April is 50km. Aiming to run 3-4 km 4-5 times a week. I am very stretched for time so can't do longer runs at the moment but a short run is better than none right?!
4/1 - 4km - 4/50
4/2 - rest day - 4/50
4/3 - 5.4km - 9.4/50 - awful run... legs are still feeling the effects of spinning and running on the weekend....
4/7 - 4km (dreadmill!) - 13.4/50
