Total *kitten*.
They had 8 inches of snow last week, which thawed in the last couple of days creating a mud fest. Today the prediction is an inch of rain and thunderstorms while the temp drops from 40F. Somewhere around midnight rain turns to freezing rain, then to snow, up to 8 inches Saturday. The freezing rain could coat the roads with a quarter inch of ice (not a factor until we have to drive home).
Meanwhile steady winds in the mid 20mph range, with gusts to upper 40s.
I'm all loaded up and just enjoying a cup of coffee and snuggling with Kody, then I'm hitting the road.

A hard 10 miles - it was really warm with a breeze in one direction. I don't know if my legs were ready for long distance again or if I wasn't ready for the warm weather... whatever the reason I was slow and my legs felt awfully tired. I made it to 8 miles without stopping, then did a walk/run the last 2 miles.
It's been a few hours and my legs still feel tired!

Someone loaded Summer by mistake today! I am NOT ready for 82F runs with 25% humidity. I only had 1 water bottle with me. BIG mistake. Ugh, I stopped at 10 mainly because I needed water bad.
And YES I did run back down that same road in my scary black clothes - but I did add my black headband! No cops today.2 -

@karllundy Ouch! Moleskin should help until you heal but you should dig into the root cause. I have been dealing with blisters on the tips of my second toes for months now off and on. Some things I have tried:
- going up a half size (didn't help)
- tighter lacing (jury still out)
- different socks (seems to be helping more than anything else)
Thanks for the tips! Socks were actually my first thought. These, while not brand new, are relatively new and a brand I haven't used. Possibly my first long run in them.
Socks were my first thought also as the cause. I had some Smart Wools before that overheated my feet and caused blisters. I would definitely drain them.0 -

7.19 km this evening. And looking forward to my new running shoes coming in the next couple of days! I have put off buying new ones and I'm starting to feel it...
Now at 64.2 km for the month with just 35.8 remaining! I have some huge deadlines coming up next week, so I'm happy to report I am ahead of schedule.3 -

You probably know better than me in that case! I've still got a small stash of sterile lancets from when I was pregnant... that's what I use when I need a sterile needle.0 -
With all this HR zone talk I decided to have 80/20 jump the line of my 2018 reading list (52 books in 52 weeks) and hopefully put into practice for my marathon in November.
Also have Running is My Therapy: Relieve Stress and Anxiety, Fight Depression, Ditch Bad Habits, and Live Longer pre-ordered and arriving next week. Plan to read it while on vacation in Northern AZ/Utah.
And hopefully I can order Let Your Mind Run: A Memoir if Thinking My Way to Victory soon. I've got Amazon gift cards so should be able too. (I'm not allowing myself to buy more books since I won about 300 unread ones currently. But a gift card book is acceptable. And hence my stay on task and read 52 books this year.)3 -

Ran about 4.5 miles yesterday, which is the longest run that I have (recently) done, and I'm pretty proud of myself. I ran the entire time, albeit at a 12 minute pace, but still managing to run nonetheless lol. I'm hoping within the next few months to get my average pace down to an 11, maybe even 10 minute mile (by the end of the summer) while increasing my endurance. Hoping to run at least a 5K today if I can find some time. And some new trails. *fingers crossed*

80/20 book is a great one if you want to understand HOW to train and HOW to make training plans.1 -
@zerlinna87 No hills in your area? Then you're going to need to improvise! We have have the same issue in north Texas, and so when I run with the group, part of our run goes up and down a parking garage structure.

@RunsOnEspresso 80/20 is a great read. I forget which watch you have, but on my Garmin I try to avoid Z3 altogether, so Z1-2 for 80% of the time, and Z4-5 for the remaining 20%.
@jine1989 You'll be amazed how quickly your pace starts to increase without you even needing to work at it. In fact, one piece of advice that I read several times when I first started running was to simply focus on form and distance, and the speed should come to you naturally.
No running from me today, just a day of rest and lots of mac and cheese, lol. Now to put my feet up, relax some more, and get a good night's sleep before tomorrow's race.7
