@zerlinna From a phone it's the same, unless you don't use apple (UA and apple must be bed buddies) .
You need to go through the browser which will access the same options as @juliet3455
ETA cleaned up mumbo jumbo for readability
Explains why I can't find the option on my app. *sigh* I never thought to go through mobile browser.2 -

Yeah, I mean the cell phone market is just about a 50/50 split with Apple and Andriod. You think they would hit both so that they could cover just about everyone. Eh, well I am an iPhone user so I am okay with it I guess.0 -

I know @MNLittleFinn is 28, but I do not know what @7lenny7 is.
Looks like 634.
Great thanks! Both are still running. Man, last check-in for @MNLittleFinn had him at running for TWENTY HOURS. He is a beast!2 -
Hot, hot, hot! Tuesday morning I was in leggings and long sleeves. Wednesday I ran in the evening in shorts and a t-shirt and was cool. Friday? 80+ degrees and I was melting. This morning? 60-66 degrees and I melted (my legs are pretty shot from 2 nights in a row of concerts and dancing so that didn't help). Plans for today are to hang around outside in the warmth but NOT be running. Trail run is on the docket for tomorrow!
Looking for Zumbro updates!! I went to the race site and it says the 17 mile was cancelled at 2 am because of weather... but are the 50 and 100 folks still doing loops?! I'm dying for an update.
4/1: 7 miles

Today we loaded the bikes up and headed to the lake. I was on foot, and took off running one way with our 7-year old on his bike, and my husband took our 5-year old and went at her pace in the other direction. My son and I went the whole way around the lake - about 13 kilometers. His speed was a little eradic, but I tried to just keep a steady decent pace and we stayed within sight of other. He did a great job, even when 2 cyclists riding side by side pretty much ran him off the bike path. There were plenty of cyclists & runners out, and the runners actually seemed half friendly today. Must be the glorious weather. We met up with my husband and daughter with under 5k left to go, so they turned around and we more or less traveled together, until the littlest one needed a break and I kept going. It wasn't a race, but I beat them back to the car anyway. I was impressed with our daughter biking about 9k. She's only been riding without training wheels for a couple weeks.
I didn't run yesterday, felt yucky and ended up going to bed instead of going in for my evening work. I felt awful for first couple kilometers today, even my legs were hurting and I have no idea what's up with that, but at some point it just left me and I felt great until we were on our way home. So I guess I'll take it easy as much as I can. It could be the cumulative tiredness from all of this marathon training. One more 20-miler (NOT accidentally going further this time, even if it means taking a bus or walking home!), then taper starts. I'm pretty sure it will be worth it when I cross the finish line, but right now I'm tired.
I'm thinking about @7lenny7 and @MNLittleFinn and will go check out the tracking. I can't even wrap my head around those distances, so I'm amazed following those who are doing it! For me, the marathon coming up in a few weeks is scary enough.
Also best wishes to @MobyCarp and anyone else who's racing this weekend!
I am meeting my goals so far for cycling once a week, and weight training (2-3x/week), and as of today my feet have covered every bit of the new marathon route. You may notice that I've taken y'all's advice and signed up for the half marathon. I may do a course preview as my "first week of taper long run".
Upcoming races:
5/13 Lublin Marathon
6/2 Solidarność Half Marathon
Some sort of summer trail HM?2 -

I'm guessing lap 2 is just taking longer than lap 1. Looks like 6+ hour laps aren't unusual.

Yeah, I've been poking around the live feed a bit and each lap seems to get progressively slower even for the leaders. Which makes sense.1 -

Spring has finally arrived! Lovely run this afternoon in the sun up the local greenway. It’s an old railway line so it’s relatively straight and flat. Farthest I’ve ever run without stopping.

So today was race day. It's the same half marathon that I ran this time last year, and I was up bright and early to get a good parking spot, and to allow me time to fit in a quick warm-up run. The first thing that hit me was the 20-25mph wind...that meant going out would be easy as the wind would generally be behind us, but coming back? Oh boy, was that going to make things tough.
As my goal was to try to beat my coworker's half marathon PR that he set in a race in February (1:39), I had to decide whether to stick with the 1:40 pacers and then push at the end, or go with the 1:35 pacers, and try to hang with them. As @Orphia had mentioned that today was "National Reach as High as You Can" Day, and I had seen another runner on Strava post a meme that simply said "Yes. You Can." , I decided to go with the latter option, and if things got too tough, then I'd fall back and stay with the 1:40 pacers and adapt my plan to the first option.
With the northerly wind, things felt much colder than recent temps, but running with the 1:35 pacers meant that I soon warmed up, and in my head, I kept repeating that meme..."Yes. You Can." As I figured, going out was easy with the wind behind us, and as I felt so good, I decided to push on a little faster and get ahead of the group. I did this last year too, but last year I ended up in between pace groups, and had no one to pace off of, which meant that the pace group caught back up with me. This year, I wasn't going to make that mistake again, and so I kept another runner firmly in my sights and used him as my pacer.
After making it half way through the race, it was time to loop back around and start heading back...into the wind. And boy was it tough. Although I was slowly overtaking several people, I was also being overtaken, but I couldn't see the 1:35 pace group so I knew I was well ahead of them. And at around mile ten, I knew I had been pushing too hard when I started to develop a stitch in my side. That made breathing a little harder and slowed me up some more, but with only another 5K to go, I couldn't give in now.
So I pushed on, trying to control my breathing, and continued to pass and be passed until eventually I made it to the finish line. Last year, I set a new PR of 1:43, beating my previous PR by 11 minutes. This year, my official time was 1:32:38, besting my PR again by another 11 minutes and placing me 3rd in my age group.
And now, I'm resting up after a hot shower, and sitting with a nice hot cup of coffee; it's time to enjoy the rest of the weekend and reflect on "Reach as High As You Can" Day.

@garygse Great race report and excellent job not only with the PR but also the AG placement! Major kudos!1

Just got back from the Jamaica Pond parkrun in Boston. We usually get around 60-70 runners. Today we had 191! Loads of people in town for the marathon and it was great to see so many different parkrun t-shirts in evidence. The most impressive though were the two women who ran the BAA 5k (start time 8:00am) and then dived into an Uber and made it to Jamaica Pond (start time 9:00am) for another 5k. They were still wearing their bibs and medals. I was chatting with them later and it turns out we have a mutual friend via their local parkrun in the UK.9
-
@garygse- Holy cow! That's quite a PR. I am not surprised given all of the miles you have been putting in. Well done sir!
So I looked at the Zumbro link. It looks like @MNLittleFinn is in 16th place overall after 5 laps?? That is awesome! So much respect for him! I could not find @7lenny7 though. Hope he is still going strong too.
I just finished my last long training run before the Flying Pig on May 6. It was a supported course preview 20 mile run, with all of the city's running groups participating. Every group had different routes planned, so there were people running every which way, but it was great fun. I was sticking with a pace group from my running group, so we ended up making more stops than I would have liked, but overall it was a good run. I forgot to restart my Garmin twice, so my mileage was off. My friend I was sticking with did the same thing, so we were both off. We agreed to run until we both had logged the full 20 miles though. We figured out how much we were off by talking to others on the course, so we actually ran just over 21 miles, which covered 1084 feet of elevation. Now I am home and enjoying a rainy afternoon to myself (and the pup) and am probably going to eat everything in the house.6 -
Anyone have the Garmin Forerunner 735XT? Local running store has a pretty good sale for the next couple of weeks and a) it's almost my birthday and b) I have a tax refund incoming. Just want to hear what others who have it think of it.0

I just got it in March. So far I love everything about it (other than the fact that it tells me that I burn a meager amount of calories! LOL). Reasons why it was a worthy investment even though my FR 220 was perfectly fine include:
GREAT battery life
Multi sport mode
Optical HR monitor
24 hour activity tracker, including sleep, steps, calories, etc.
Customizable faces and widgets, including weather updates
Receive text messages while on the run (or any other time)
I am pretty sure there is a widget to control music but I have not looked into it yet. It also has a phone finder
I also considered the Vivoactive, but it looked like the FR 735XT was geared more toward training data vs. every day activities. Although I think the Vivoactive is a bit more stylish if that is of importance to you.

I have the 935, but it was a tough call at the time between the 735 and the 935. From everything that I read and compared the 735 is a great watch and if you can nab it on sale, I would advise you do so.

Thanks @lporter229 and @PastorVincent. Doesn't hurt that my husband asked me what I want for my birthday today either. Sale is on until the end of the month and they are discounted by almost 40%.3

quick update.
I'll let @MNLittleFinn tell his own story but I will say he is one tough badass. Amazing. I don't even know yet if he finished but it wouldn't affect my opinion anyway.
As for me... DNF. I completed 2 out of the 3 laps.
There were a handful of reasons but primarily, I did not train well enough for this particular race on this particular day. On a good weather day I believe that I could have finished.
It was a mentally torturous last few miles as I contemplated whether to go for the final lap, but I'm 100% at peace with my decision and very proud of what I did accomplish in the conditions as they were, given my recent injury and limited training. Yes I'm disappointed, but I'm not disappointed in myself.
Any doubt in my mind completely went away as I drove home 80 miles in a blizzard, with white out conditions, over icy roads half the drive. A third lap would mean driving that in the dark or spending the night in my truck. I am concerned about Erik and the rest of the the folks still there, and them getting home safely.
The race director told me they expected a 70 % dropout rate for the 100,a large percentage for the 50, and the 17 was canceled completely due to the road conditions and the blizzard.
Now I need to have a beer, take a shower and maybe get some sleep. I'll try to get a report out tomorrow.
Erik, much respect, my man!33 -
Well done @7lenny7 for what you DID achieve. Getting to the start line is half the battle.
I just looked and @MNLittleFinn is still out there, and still going. maybe he’s holding out for the weather to improve?0 -
