Katla - I am so glad you are liking the B12 and it's making a difference. I finally read up on it yesterday.... come to find out, B12 is stored in the liver and apparently can last in there for several months, unlike most other B vitamins which are water soluble and are needed in the diet every day. If my B12 isn't up to par when I have it tested in a few months, I plan to start getting the shots. My grandmother got them monthly and was darn sharp until she died at age 92 from a stroke.
Hope you had a good time at the stable with the feeders around. Is this neighbor the same one that gave you grief with the hose last year? If so, she needs a hobby. In another part of town, lol. Soon!
Heather - great advice! I think you are right on the money! Love the pictures and way to go getting the trip booked for next year. It was meant to be!
I read something today about making changes in our diet and exercise, likened to turning a huge ship around. It will take a while but with steady hands on the wheel and despite weathering a few storms, we'll get there if we keep our eye on the horizon.
Rebecca - love that big tree! Stealing it to post on the local Master Gardener's page!
Rye - I found the 5/2 intermittent fasting site and will be reading it thoroughly over the next few days. Might spring for the book! So glad it's worked for you - you have made fabulous progress during the last year! You know your stuff for sure. Thank you!!!
Mary - thank you so, so much for the BioHack link. I just returned Bredesen's book to the library (have read it twice now) and was thinking of buying it. Jacob Gorden of Biohack has pulled out the pertinent info. Great recipes, lots of wonderful articles. You, too, have transformed yourself with diet and exercise and I feel so lucky to have such great information just by asking for it.
Kay - (((HUGS))))
Allie - loved hearing about your little trip.
Evie - we did have a wonderful day in Paradise. Even a little rain shower down there close to Mt. St. Helens/Mt. Rainier in SW WA State Fragrant orange/pick Azalea is blooming and the smell is heavenly.
Better wrap it up for now. Have a good evening ladies.

Did ½ hr on the recumbant bike and then the stretch and flex DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do some hula hoop, hold my plank, then take the extremepump class.
Mary – the biggest problem with a picture of the pool with the ceramics around it is that it’s so hard to get a good picture that shows them all
Rye – all during the summer you’ll probably hear me talking about going in the pool. Mother Nature has been so weird this year. We usually open the pool in March, this year we couldn’t until May. Well, we started in late April but then had that problem with the check valve which delayed the opening. The water is still cleaning out some, but it’s much, much better. I do watch it and am in the pool only an hour or so during the day. I should own stock in Coppertone….lol
Penny – happy birthday to your husband. Yes, cake (especially the frosting) right out of the freezer tastes good
Heather – happy anniversary and birthday to Max. Good for you booking that trip
Zkj – anyone is welcome in the pool! Actually, Vince likes playing “mad scientist” and taking care of the pool. Scientist because he really likes making sure the ph, the chlorine, the salt and stuff is balanced. So I let him.
Felicia – Bryan lives (last I knew) on the island of LaReunion which if you’ve never heard of it is in the Indian Ocean near Madagascar. It’s part of France.
Lectored at the church today. I’m really not crazy about Mass on Sun, I’d rather go on Sat. night. But I was filling in for this one gal.
Terry - Cool boot!
Evelyn – We have a bosch dishwasher, too, and love it, especially the quietness
Page – welcome!
Penny – love that bear
Becca – your sister’s work is beautiful!
Youngster Sue – welcome! Great weight loss, and good for you counting your steps

Together we pulled lots of weeds in the yard. There are still a lot left. Jake brought out the radio so we could listen to the Mariners game (they lost).

Lanette: I think the B12 is helping, but I'm not doing very well at home. It was a crummy day. A neighbor who thinks she is God's gift to gardening was pruning my camellia. It is Camellia Sasanqua Yuletide, and blooms in December and into January. I chose it because it can provide food for the hummingbirds who are here year around. I have told her repeatedly to leave it alone. In addition to the irritating neighbor, DH is very grumpy and it is aimed at me. He's worried about my health so I'm planning to make an appointment with my doctor for a check up and a chat. I want to be sure I'm doing the right things in taking care of myself. :ohwell:
Pity Party warning:
Today wasn't the best I've ever had. I'm hoping tomorrow will be better. I am no Pollyanna at the moment. I'm tired and grumpy about my neighbor, at odds with DH, and went out to the stable twice but didn't ride. The first visit was to learn the feeding schedule. I came back when they said would be a good time to work with Arrow, and they had just fed the horses early because it was a better time for them today. I did test the ability to get a message to DH. A text went right to him with no trouble. Yay! I can communicate with him if I need to, even though phone service from my phone company is not very good out at the stable.

Katla - sorry to hear about the difficulties with your neighbor! I'm curious as to what she said when you confronted her! Such bizarre behavior for someone to prune a neighbor's plant. I hope you and DH get things worked out
Mary from Arizona4 -
I can’t believe it. I had s somewhat long post and now it’s gone!
Try again tomorrow!

Janet OKC, I'm so glad I didn't have a mouthful of anything when I read your cartoon! I can so relate! lol
Katla, I can't believe the nerve of your neighbour pruning your camellia! Does it overhang into her yard? and if so, is that the part she's pruning? Or does she think she's doing you a favour, that she knows better than you what it needs? In any case, she really does need a hobby, in another part of town... (thanks Lanette, you said it perfectly!) Oh, and I too am somewhat stingy when it comes to spending money. Our old dishwasher actually quit working properly two years before I even considered replacing it! Then I did dishes by hand for a few months (much to our children's annoyance cause they had to help!), then I finally bit the bullet and got the new one. It was kind of worth it as I certainly appreciated it then! lol
Barbie, glad you got some weeds pulled! Every bit counts!
So, today has been a decent day, food wise, not the greatest, but within the scope of what I can live with. And I brushed my teeth shortly after dinner, so didn't wander around the kitchen looking for food that I didn't need! Even had a shower early, might actually get to bed at a reasonable hour. Hopefully I will sleep too....
Hubby had a nice surprise when I got home from work today, he has been talking about what he wants to do in the backyard and today he spent a few hours roughing it out! It looks really good! Need a few more rocks, but I know where I can get those (we had a wall of rock come down at work, a lot of it is still there and the boss is more than fine with me taking some of it away), then we need to get some gravel in to fill up the bare spots. Too shady for grass, so going with gravel and planters. Just need to figure out how to get the gravel back there, no way for a truck to get there, so will probably have to get a sling truck to do it. Could be costly.... but will be worth it (I hope!)

Lanette, thanks for asking about fasting, because somehow your question inspired me first thing this morning to fast today and I had a great day! Just had one cup of soup and one cup of homemade broth along with two or three soy hot chocolates. And I didn't fight hunger pains all day. I also had a cup of fenugreek tea, which I read was an appetite suppressant, and I read on a fasting forum that electrolytes during a fast would also combat the drop in energy. So I made my own home-made electrolytes by simmering onion, celery, parsley and potato with Himalayan salt, and then straining out the solids and drinking the broth. I also kept my mind occupied with a good mystery novel that I am listening to, called "14". I took my supplements this morning which included royal jelly, Dong Quai, Nu-Woman, chlorophyll, glucosamine, evening primrose, tart cherry and turmeric. So that was my fasting day and I am looking forward to weighing in tomorrow and seeing what the result is. Hoping to repeat tomorrow but I will probably eat something on Wednesday as I am booked to go on another hike with the tramping club. This time we are going to a wetlands reserve that I have never even heard of. Will take my binoculars as there are lots of birds there. I did a 30 minute run this morning with Jock (jack russell) and then another 30 minute walk with Honey (dachsund) and Molly (my daughter's chihuahua that I look after) when I was done at the office. Good morning everyone! Today is scheduled to be the hottest early May Bank Holiday on record.
DH and I have done our regular exercising and I have asked my friend to walk up to the pub and back with me when she arrives for lunch. It's about half an hour each way. She will text me if she can't get here on time and I will walk by myself. I'm going to wear my huge black Chinese hat to keep the sun off. (It folds up to nothing)
Other good news is that my anniversary fleece present arrived today. Delivery on a Bank Holiday!!! And it isn't too big. Hooray! It's a North Face one in a lovely petrol navy. I'm sure it will see good use on the cruise in the far north of Sweden. I was so worried about the size as I ordered a large. Mainly because my back is so broad.
I have done all my Swedish twice through on Duolingo and I'm starting a third round. I know I won't need it, but it's been fun. I can say things like, "People wear silly hats to a crayfish party". "The fireworks over Stockholm were very beautiful this New Year" "The taxes are very high and I don't want to pay them" I'm sure I will get plenty of opportunity to say all that.
Got to get scrubbed up for my friend's visit.

I'm a goose. My husband's in Nepal for two weeks. Before he left he told me he would check in every day by text or email or his snazzmatazz GPS tracker. Of course I took him at his word, so yesterday evening when I hadn't heard from him for a full 36 hours, I started to worry. The worry followed me into dreamland and I had several dreams with more or less horrific explanations to why he hadn't been in touch.
This morning when I woke up, I sent him a text message asking if all was well. And heard nothing. So I sent another one to his GPS. Finally around noon today he sent me a text message saying that they had come down "a thrilling road" and were safe and sound now. (A thrilling road? :noway: Gee thanks!) I texted back and explained that I worry when he doesn't contact me according to schedule. He apologized about that. But it had been a long, eventful day and he fell asleep before he got around to texting.
He's apparently handling the altitude well (they slept at 12,500 feet last night) but his traveling companion (our friend the pastor) has had headaches and nausea.
I was feeling nauseous myself this morning. I was THAT worried. It didn't help at all that there were a zillion excellent explanations for why he hadn't contacted me. Strangely enough, I found some comfort in checking where he was on Google Earth.
So is modern communication technology a curse or a blessing?

Machka! I'm a bit late catching up, but I got tears in my eyes reading your news about your husband. What progress! I love the fact that he knew what to reply to your question about eating an elephant. I bet the cycling motion and the music you are playing are very beneficial in helping him get his bearings again. And most importantly, his interactions with you! Yay!!!
Barbie So glad Jake is being freed to go back to his regular activities. That is good news for both of you! LOL! Janetr about doing the dishes.
Sharon I rather like the idea that you hold all the cards. That is poetic justice.
Heather For the most part, I am a silent consumer of the Facebook & Instagram feeds of my various relatives, especially my children's. It is my firm belief that they reveal much more to their friends than they do to me. The quieter I remain, the more likely I am to be privy to what matters the most to them, and to remain "in the loop". By subscribing to the grandchildren's sports calendars, keeping up with my children on FB & Instagram, and accepting the responsibility of getting my granddaughter off the bus one day a week, I manage to find out most of what I need to know to be of use and to "fill my cup".
p.s. I love bluebells. I wonder if Virginia bluebells are similar to the ones you have in the U.K.
Michele NC That is a great pool area you have. So welcoming!
Penny I may be the only person on the face of the earth that despises caviar.
Lanette If you are so inclined, a 500 (or fewer) calorie fast one day a week would probably suit your purpose. Some people actually make that day a "fat fast", getting all their calories from bulletproof coffee or tea, for example, although that much fat without any other nutrients could set off a gallbladder attack or cause nausea. If you are already on a high fat diet it would be fine. When I was doing a fasting day each week, my 400-500 calories came mostly from protein shakes. Now, I don't think protein shakes are necessarily the best choice, but at the time, it worked really well for me. I would like to be able to do a complete fast (no calories) one day a week. I have never done that, but I think it would be beneficial to me for mindfulness and for health.
New Sue Welcome!!! We have one Sue - maybe you could be Sue from Kentucky? You found a great group of women to support you during your journey.
Katla Why is your neighbor pruning your camellia? I don't understand her motivation. Is it bothering her in some way?
Kay Many (((Hugs)))
Penny (again) It is very worrisome when people say they will communicate with you within a certain time frame & they don't follow through. So sorry you had angst-filled dreams. (((Hugs)))
Carol The recertification was BLS/ACLS for work.

Watching SNL from 2 days ago with my partner this a.m. I don't have to work again until this evening. It is GORGEOUS outside this morning, we have a breeze coming in through the screen to the deck, and are sipping coffee and laughing our a$$es off. Good start to a Monday morning.

5 mile walk with my bff on Sunday-- wow that felt great. Scale is on the downward trend, hooray, down a pound and now I am feeling truly motivated to get back to maintenance weight by the end of June! Woot!
And I did buy a skirt, two shirts and a pair of white pants (risky for me) and it feels great, I haven't bought clothes for over a year as part of my minimal shopping lifestyle. And, a pair of Merrell Sandals that seem to have great arch support, deep heel cup so we'll see if they work with my PF prone feet!
