LANETTE I really enjoyed Skinny on Fat they are repeating all episodes starting tonight. So much to digest (pardon the pun) but what I've been doing this week is fasting from about 9pm until 5pm next day weights gone down but know some is water.
I try to eat low carb because that's my nemesis but I love fruit and 1 medium apple has 20g carb, but I've had no bread, pasta etc.

    - I wondered if you watched the Skinny on Fat series. Glad they are replaying it, I know I missed at least one episode and I want to see more of the "bonus interviews". Way to go on your intermittent fasting!! I want to go at least 14 hours today. Stomach growing right now (12 hours) but I am just going to "ride the wave" lol. I think it's true, if a person is busy they can put the hunger behind them.

Got my mile walk in this morning and found a nice private lane along my route, so did four 20 second jags of running in place there - no cars dodging me and no "audience" lol ;) . It was a grassy lane so much easier on my feet than running on pavement. I think I found the perfect waterproof winter walking shoes - Muck shoes. I have an old pair I wear outside to walk the dogs and garden, but bought a new pair this week, a little different style. Price was quite reasonable - about the same as regular running shoes (lower end). They are a little roomy which is great - there will be room for my pressure relieving insoles.

Wendy - you have a LOT of things to get done all at once. Major looks quite formidable, wasn't he just a wiggly little puppy a few weeks ago? Yes, the cop is lucky your Chihuahua didn't get him. If I was close by I'd gladly babysit your expectant mare when the time comes.

    Machka
    - thank you again for sharing the story of your DH and his healing and caregiver challenges. Gives us a glimpse of what might be facing us some day as either the patient or caretaker.

Barbie - so sorry to hear about your back! It WILL get better - glad your chiro has you scheduled for more sessions. Someone in this group - Dana maybe? - recommended the Aleve Direct Therapy TENS unit when my back was on the fritz last year. That's my new best friend when my back goes out because it allows me to get in and out of the car and out of a chair without excruciating pain.

Dana - glad you are back home, bet your DH and Dolly are excited to have you all to themselves again.

Overcast and cool right now so racing around getting some watering done and have windows open getting fresh air in. We'll see in the 90's today through Monday the way it looks. Only good thing is that tomatoes are finally starting to ripen. And brown lawn (other than a few dandelions) means no mowing.

    Have a good day ladies!

Janet OKC ~ Yesterday I commented that, "Olivia and her sister were cute." Now I see that I should have said Mia and Layla. So many cute little ones we all share. <3

Allie your food choices sound delicious!

Macha great advice! Here having the power of attorney takes tremendous pressure off. It helps financially, medically, and legally.

Rebecca ~ My DH got a call today from his dr. He too has excess calcium buildup and the dr. mentioned that if it continues he might need the surgery you had. They want to watch it carefully because he has had blood clots from prior surgeries and they don't want that to happen.

Good Morning, Evening, Afternoon Sisters, It is Day 6 of the Wendy Fast. I can't believe how fast (pun intended) the time is flying. Winter (in NZ) is a good time to fast because it is dark early and I can get to bed and sleep through my fasting time. In summer, I'm outside till the last drop of light fades away, working on one of my many projects. I rarely sit and watch the TV in the evenings. I prefer reading. Last night, I worked on my quilting project while my husband watched TV. I was struggling with my old Singer sewing machine that I haven't used in over ten years. I had loaned it to my daughter and she gave it back when they moved...I discovered that it was missing the lower bobbin and the foot raiser switch was broken off. I have a couple of decorative vintage Singers and I managed to use a bobbin off one of them. I couldn't remember how to thread it, but after watching some youtube and sourcing an online manual, I managed. Then the needle kept catching and I had to figure out what was wrong, adjusting tension and every friggin knob, rethreading, re bobbining (I just made that up-I love it when I create new words-LOL) Having to stand up and carefully raise the broken switch as it has jagged edges every time I needed to lift the foot...But after a frustrating struggle I managed to get it working in a reasonable manner. I would definitely get a new machine if I was planning on much more sewing but I have decided that after this quilt I am going to say NO and focus on my other creative interests and keep my To Do list smaller. (My daughter begged me to make a "horse" quilt for her first child.)

Last night, as the highlight of Wendy's Health Spa, I drank a luscious smoothie as I took my supplements. I put a pear, banana, handful of blueberries, handful of spinach, dash of beet juice and pomengranite juice and almond milk into it. And I gave half of it to my husband. This morning I had dropped down 2 more pounds and my skinnier jeans are becoming easier to put on. Still can't get into my skinniest jeans yet, so I will continue on my quest.

Kate, my belief about a low-carb/keto diet is that it is partially right: cut out the pasta, grain and rice and any baked goodies. But I disagree in cutting out fruits and I'm also in favour of all veggies including potatoes. Fruits have got so many important health boosting properties that I immediately showed signs of illness when I tried the keto diet for a couple of months. One author I like is Kimberly Snyder, and she is all about eating in a way that provides your body nutrients while speeding and easing your digestion. She says that meat is very slow to digest and uses up your body's energy that could be used on detoxing and keeping your cells younger. Losing weight is one thing-staying healthy while you do it is another.

Barbie, sorry to hear that your pain is so severe. There are lots of different ways to relieve pain while your body heals but time is always the best healer. Nikola Tesla used a light-electric pulser to heal his body after he got hit by a bus and badly injured. You can order his invention off Amazon and treat yourself at home. You can also help yourself by learning acupressure points on your body to press.

Kellie, my piano-sister, I'm glad to know I'm not alone in my love for Clair. I also like to play Fur Elise. I have a much easier version of Fur, but my Clair music is a bit complicated for me. My mother is a great pianist and she tried to teach me as a child, but I preferred to ride my horse rather than practice my lessons. LOL. However, I loved listening to her practice every night for hours. I paid for all of my daughters to take piano lessons but only my oldest inherited the musical gene. I am teaching myself slowly. My left hand is far behind my right, in its knowledge. Practicing the piano puts me into an extremely creative zone asI have to focus intently and it uses parts of my brain that are cobwebbed and dusty. As for the summons, I have emailed the cop in charge to see if I can get out of it. The jury duty is for selection. I don't want to do that either, but I will do what I have to.

Snowflake, our property is large and the policeman parked in front of our garage (a long way from the house) then walked up a path to our house to knock on the door. Then he came out onto the deck when I didn't answer because I was up at the barn, on the other side of our orchard. Major was somewhere in our acre of garden and I'm sure he and the cop did not see each other until that moment. Major doesn't bark at most of the men (my husband's friends) who come and we get lots of friends visiting, but a stranger in a uniform elicited his warning bark.

Lanette, Major still thinks he is a wriggly little puppy!

Oh sorry to hear! Have his doctor check his vitamin D levels too! I had low levels so was put on a 5000 iu daily, until I had my surgery. My blood pressure was high too, and its gone down to 132/83 now instead of the 150's. Its amazing how your body adapts to this disease, hiperparathyroidism.

    Pip, you hot chickie you!

Barbie, two more things I thought of: Add cumin to your food or chew cumin seeds. It is a natural pain killer. Also magnesium oil is great to relieve pain.

I'm off to do the morning chores. Will check in later, <3 Wendy

    Hi all,
Just checking in. Getting ready for a read and then turn out the light. All is well at my DSIL. We had a lovely roast lamb and salad out in the garden, and just managed to eat the first course before it rained. I had a large glass of real champagne, then switched to rosé AF. :D Hasn't rained for months, go figure.
We stopped off on the way at a stately home with great old pictures, furniture and Chinese ceramics. The garden was very parched though. :'(
Just squeaked under calories for the day. Don't think I will tomorrow. Correction, I know I won't tomorrow. In case I wake up early I've lined up tea making equipment and a banana. I always wake up hours before anyone else and I'm starving. No vigorous exercise tomorrow, just some walking.
    Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx

:) Wendy, I have been thinking about your overwhelming list and how you might accomplish what's on it. At the beginning of the year I made a list called "18 for 2018" and included things I wanted to do during the year. The list has some easy to accomplish things and some that will take days, weeks, or months. Next for whatever I wanted to start on, I broke it down into smaller pieces (buy the yarn, find the pattern, etc.) so I could accomplish something in a day and be able to cross it off the day's list easily. Good luck on all your great projects. Thanks for the pain relief tips.

:) Rebecca, you are amazingly fortunate to have such a great relationship with your son.

did so well till the ride home.. oh well, tomorrow is another day...

Me too, had an unexpected drive right back into the city when I got home. Only stopped long enough to use the washroom. Ended up getting McDonalds because I was starving and needed fast. Between swimming, the driving and helping lift I should be ok.
