RYE! I cannot believe you were in Madison last night! I am glad you are ok. 11 inches of rain last night. That is crazy making. Have a brother there. He stayed dry thank goodness. Safe travels today! I promise Wisconsin is normally a much friendlier place to visit then what you hit!1

Heather - You do well to have alone time for 3 days, I don't do well with being alone for longer than a day or so. I think if anything ever happens to hubby I will need to find a roommate. Sorry you didn't get your Yoga in today.
Kelly - Oh Italy and Pasta - I grew up never having pasta, My Dad was a Meat, Potato, Vegetable guy. I did get KD of course. I'm not sure when I started eating pasta, but boy there are times when I wish I never had. I'm thinking of Old Spaghetti Factory for my birthday celebration this year.
Machka - Beautiful photo. Spring Break will be a nice partial break for you.
Karen in Virginia - Abbreviations, I so agree! I am a huge Nora Roberts fan and am just starting to re-read one of her series, this one uses so many abbreviations that I find it annoying, but I do like the actual story. I don't know why people insist on abbreviations and acronyms.
Leslie - Those are awesome goals. 5 Minutes just standing is better than just sitting.
Beth - Thinking of your son and you today
Rye- I remember my Dad driving through a flooded road one time. It was very scary.
EFricke1 - That is an adorable puppy
Katla - Have so much fun with your son and family visiting
Sharon - Did you drive truck or were you an administrator in the industry?
LEGO - My brother has all of his LEGO from when we were kids. There are tubs and tubs of it. In 2016 I took my grandchildren home with me for a visit so I could stay with my Mom so my brother and his family could have a vacation. My Grandson was 4. He really enjoys the Lego people more than the actual building. He builds scenes and such only. In the tubs of LEGO he asked my Mom to help him find one part of Batman. This is a picture of the tubs where the part might be and him asking my Mom to help him find it. There were 4 other tubs this size and a couple of smaller ones. Somehow they managed to find the part!
Smoke - The smoke cleared Sunday afternoon and most of yesterday. I spent the time in my shed instead of going for a walk. Now it's supposed to be smoky again starting today for the next few. We have set a record in Edmonton from 1961 for the most smoke hours in a summer. So far we have reached 168. I sure hope BC gets rain soon.

Hello
I am organizing for a family trip to Colorado. My oldest brother and Mom are coming to my house on Friday. We leave Saturday morning for Wray, CO to visit 2 of my Mom’s brothers and their families. Next Tuesday we will all head to Estes Park for a 4 day family reunion. Another uncle and family come from Montana and another brother from Arizona along with her only sister from the Denver area.
I have cleaned out the grandkids bedroom for my mom. There were a lot of outgrown toys that will be donated. Laundry is done and clothes are organized for packing.
I will only be home 2 days and then to East TX for 10 days to stay with my Mom and dog sit my youngest brothers 2 dogs while he visits friends that moved to Port Townsend, WA. I am jealous. I would love to visit that area. He will be attending a wooden boat festival while there.
Next I need to start preparing Keto versions of food to take on the trip in order to stay on plan. Biscuits, lemon blueberry muffins and a savory bacon, gruyere, mushroom and carmelized onion Dutch Baby are what I have planned so far.
I had a home improvement project completed last week. The fluorescent lights in my kitchen (which I really disliked) needed the ballasts replaced. The lights would not turn on more than half the time. I had the fluorescent lights replaced with LED can lights and added a few pendant lights. My kitchen is now nice and bright.
Here are the before and after.
Yesterday was the first day of school for my grandson.

Karen in VA Brava to your partner for fighting fiction with facts. Maybe the interim supervisor will receive some remedial management training as a result. It is to be hoped SOME good can come from what must have been a miserable experience.
Sapphire Coast Bev: you have come to the right place for encouragement, support, wisdom and even pip's boot. Most of us resonate with at least one part of your story, toxic relationships, ailing husbands, painful knees, and worst of all imho: depression. Several of our gals are on your side of the world, tho I confess I have a very poor idea of how near Machka, Wendy and Trish are. Australia is so VERY large!
Wendy Brava for your witness. That was some Halelujah sunset!
KJ what's tomorrow's destination? May I come too?
Kylia good for you. Manufacturers need to know about their defective products, to beef up their quality control.
Lanette, chopsticks are my friend. The first time I broke my right wrist using left to eat with fork and spoon didn't work so well. Meat in eye, soup up nose, etc. Then one day sat down to some stir fry with chopsticks. After chowing down half the plate I realized I was eating with ease because I was using chopsticks... with my left hand!!! Go figure
Barbie hope the new recliner is the magic your back needs. Keeping good thoughts for tomorrow's appointment
Machka Con VERY grats on your richly deserved success! Hope spring break is restorative on many levels.
Rye what a harrowing story! So glad you're safe
efricke As an adult, all my dogs were strays or rescues until Tumble. Purebred puppies need good homes too!
Heather agree 3 days cocooned can make me feel low. Wish I could meet up with you at a pub, we'd have fun!

Beth we are right beside you, in your pocket. Squeeze our hands REAL HARD whenever it just hurts too much while waiting for your son to come out of the OR.
Joe's brother and his wife, their grandson (who they're fostering) and their 4th son's ex girlfriend will be here Thursday night. Swept floors, cleaned one bathroom, vacuumed dining room. Have I told you how much I HATE housecleaning??? Trying to be grateful I have a house to clean and the ability to do it. Thankful for a husband who loves the dogs enough to share his subway sandwich, despite the fact he doesn't see the rejected lettuce they scattered over the just cleaned floors. Any suggestions on how I can reframe my attitude, like KJ did with her line of work?
On the positive side, yesterday I transplanted the dwarf apple tree into the hole I dug. Couldn't find the long roots I remembered winding around the bottom of the pot so had nothing to stretch out in the wide pit. Backfilling was a little depressing, sweating to put in what I'd sweated to dig out. Hope it makes a welcoming matrix for the roots to grow into and make the little tree happy. Think I'll wait awhile before starting the next hole...

Morning Sisters, it's raining here and my DH was complaining and I said, "At least it is better than dangerous levels of smoke!"( I was in Montana during a huge fire season and I got very sick from breathing in smoke constantly.) I am very sensitive to any smoke, my eyes run and I cough badly-I just can't do smoke.
Rye, those people with the canoe on top of their vehicle had the right idea. Plan B. LOL. I would have been quite terrified of the vehicle being washed away. We make our plans to go or come, but I always say God willing because there are some things that are just out of our control. Make the best of it and take cool photos like that one!
Machka, nice grad photo. Hope you have a prominent place on the wall to hang it to remind you daily of what you have accomplished and why you are still working hard for the next achievement.
I love corgis! I have both rescue animals as well as purebreds chosen specifically so I can enjoy their breed characteristics. I believe in both compassion and preserving unique breeds. I expect lots of cute corgi pics coming up!
Barbie, I wrote a whole page of things I am grateful for, the night before I had to go to court, just to change my anxious mindset...and on that list was comfi armchairs. Post a photo of you in your new one...get hubby to take it. LOL
Kelly, so enjoying your theme days!
Lanette, I have mastered pasta too. LOL

What is specifically wrong with your attitude? Is it depression, crankiness, is pain causing your not be cheerful and joyful? I personally went through a long bout of depression that caused so many other issues. I have learned a lot of techniques to help myself in different and 99% of them were free because I'm broke and cheap LOL0 -
Rye - glad you weren't swept away by floodwaters, that looks like our area in December. Wonder if we'll get the normal monsoons or if it will be on the dry side as well.
Barbie - hope your new recliner helps your back!! At least a place where you can get comfy and take a nice nap when needed.
Wanted to mention - I'm watching a new mystery on Prime Video = Mystery Road set in Australia, available on Acorn. WOW it's dry there! I'm on episode three and getting to really like and understand the characters. That detective Jay Swan is OK in my book, lol. .
If I was in my 20's and single I'd be Wendy and pack a bag and head over to check out the southern hemisphere. Heck I might anyhow before I kick the bucket if I can get some decent orthotics, lol. Another old lady in tennis shoes.
Keep cool.... we are trying hard.

HOT SW WA State where air has reached unhealthy. Yuk.5 -
Bev- I have been thinking for a while of just dropping the abbreviations. They do get confusing. SO...let me introduce the cast of characters in my life.
DH is played by my husband Tim (married 29 years)
DOS is played by my oldest son Darren, (age 31)
DD is played by my daughter Lauren, (age 28)
DYS is played by my youngest son Colin, (age 24)
SIL (son in law) is played by my daughter's husband Jaime
And the Amazing Joaquin is my 1 1/2 yr old grandson who is my absolute favorite person in the WHOLE world!
Rye- So glad you are safe! The flooding must have been terrifying for you!
Lanette- When school starts I will have six, still; but I lose the two nine year olds and gain a three year old girl and a one year old girl (I had these two before summer started- mom is a teacher)
Tomorrow we visit Mexico!
Barbara- The gratitude journal was a big reason my attitude toward everything changed. Also Joaquin. BUT...I have decided also to use humor. For instance, my house will NEVER be the house beautiful that I dream of. NEVER. So...places where I can't have house beautiful I have house humorous. My goldenrod bathroom fixtures (tub, surround, and toilet). Since I don't have the money to replace the goldenrod, I bought the "baby chick" seat and lid. It makes me laugh every morning. Truly! I also got sick of my son, Colin turning the basement into his own little bachelor pad, complete with empty pizza boxes, chip bags, water bottles, etc. So...I framed a large piece of contact paper (sticky side out) and told him to make art. Now he places his trash on the artwork he is making on the wall. lol It makes me laugh whenever I go down there. He usually takes a picture of it if he thinks it looks good; then gets rid of it and puts a new piece of contact paper in and begins all over. You could make art out of your hubby's sandwich droppings! Seriously...build a sub sandwich on contact paper and just start building. It might make you laugh at the situation and your hubby might get the hint and pick up after himself. Maybe he will make his own artwork?!
Oh well, gotta go. Kids are waking up and need snack. ttfn xoxoxo KJ

Did Jillian Michael’s Extremely Shed & Shred DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to do a DVD for the bosu.
Tomorrow is the Newcomer board meeting. Should be very interesting. I think I told you that at the last board meeting Vince told everyone that as a non-profit, we need to match expenses with promotional items. He said that he didn’t think it a good idea to let one of our sponsors basically pay for our holiday party since we’ll probably have to match a lot of money. Also, what happens in the future? Will other sponsors want to fund our holiday parties? Well, the president sent out the agenda for the board meeting (I didn’t receive a copy, she usually sends it to me) where she wants to discuss him funding the party and our role as a non-profit. Vince said he’s just going to say “I’ve said my piece” I bet that she’s thinking “well, he had to put down deposits”. All you have to do is say “after consultation with our treasurer I find that we cannot accept your generous offer”. Will that happen? And if he loses his deposits – oh well, we haven’t lost any money. A while ago another lady asked if students from Claytor Kaye (a school with heavy emphasis on the arts) could perform for us at a general meeting. In the end, they didn’t. But I’m thinking that I’ll suggest we have the holiday part in January and have the students (if possible) perform. It would be most likely be less than $800 and we no longer would have the issue of an advertiser sponsoring our holiday party.
Car update: Mazda still hasn’t called to say they have the transmission. But, honestly, I really don’t care that much. I have the loaner
Bev from Australia – I’m so sorry for all you’ve gone thru. Good for you beating the cancer!
Wendy – I’m so glad everything went well in court for you.
Marilyn – welcome! I’m in Newton NC
M – great picture! I’m so very proud of you. With everything thrown you way lately you still accomplished the schooling. And you’re continuing!!!!
Leslie – welcome. We are here for you. The ladies on this thread are amazing! Come back often
Exercised, volunteered at the Green Room, then Vince and I went to get the shantrex (?sp) shot. See, it’s covered 100% by our insurance now. He’ll go on medicare in December at which time we’ll have to pay. So, therefore, we got it now.
Efrocke – what a cute puppy!
Katla – you sound over the top with happiness
Cathy – Vince replace the fluorescent light fixtures in the condo last year. The condo above us has concrete and what the builder did was nail the fixtures to concrete. We didn’t think it would take as long as it took to get them down. Good for you replacing the ballasts! We got LED’s, too. Nice kitchen
KJ – when my kids were little, my house was the neighborhood house. But it was never real clean. Do the kids remember that? NO They DO remember that they climbed the trees. My saying was always “I’ll be dead and buried and the dirt will still be here”.

Well I just had a nice conversation with eldest son before he left for work. I had told him to give a call to his youngest brother, because he's having a rough time of it. So I told him, and he was empathetic about it all. We discussed the fact that the youngest has had to deal with a sick father, and process all the stress with that. And also losing his brothers one by one until he was an only child. He's going to try to connect with him on Friday when he isn't working. Brothers being there for brothers. My eldest is quite an exceptional young man!

Here is our new chair. It is a leather push back recliner. The old one was getting lumpy. Jake has always wanted a leather chair and he is one who will use it the most. Usually we watch TV together with him in the recliner and me on the exercise bike. Right now my leg hurts too much to ride the bike so I sit in the recliner and he sits on the couch.
About gratitude. Being grateful for what I have takes the focus away from wishing for what I don't have. I don't have the amazing kitchen I want (one of my ovens doesn't work and the door is held closed with duct tape because he often falls open) but I have a working oven, stove top, microwave, freezer, refrigerator filled with good food, and electricity to make it all work. I have so many things in my life that make me happy and I like to remind myself of those things.
Katla, This must be such a happy time for you. Enjoy every minute.
Heather, all the books I've read about decluttering say to leave the most emotional stuff (like photos) for last. We have been decluttering since my mother died in 1991 and finally about two years ago got to the point of addressing the photos.

Lost my post again grrrrr.
Beth thinking of you and your son and hoping the surgery went well.
We had some of the western smoke today and I must say I feel bad for those of you who have been suffering with it for weeks.
Went to water aerobics this morning then to town with hubby. We had to get a new modem because the old one was making our internet speed slow way down.

Jumping in even though it's mid-month. Just became mfp active after 4 years inactive. I'm jumping ship from a very successful 7 months on Weight Watchers because I don't want to play the "points" game. I'd rather see the direct correlation between calories in and calories out and exactly how my exercise plays into that. MFP also shows me my nutritional breakdown, which is crucial. I hope to be as successful on MFP as I was on weight watchers and that it becomes a permanent way of life. My current weight is my lowest in 30 years and I'm just about 5 lbs from breaking the 200 mark.8

Welcome new ladies! We can do this as a team! I am thankful for such a supportive group!
Rye- I hope the rest of your trip is calmer! That is so scary especially in a strange place!
Praying for rain for those affected by the fires and smoke. Rain is a great air cleaner!
Sweet dreams to those headed to bed (like me) and Good Morning to those starting their Wednesday mornings!
Kylia in Ohio where the weather is giving us a taste of Fall even though only August.
PS- I remember August being hot and swim time. Now it seems like the last few years it has felt more like September....smh3 -
swagosweet - welcome back! I'm sure you'll be very successful on MFP

Hi Gals,
Michele – there are a number of herbicides that you drill holes into the stump and either pack with the poison granules or pour the liquid into and it will kill the tree, then it will break down via natural composting… You can also just drill holes into it (no herbicide) and that creates more surface area for decomposition. Personally I just have sawed it level, and put a big pot on it, planted it and called it good.
Rebecca - Were they worth it? I have been trying to ask that question when I splurge on some thing high in calories - I have found in a number of cases that the memory of the item made it seem worth it, but when I have the item the reality is not so good- so then I am trying to change my memory to help lower the temptation next time.
My embroidery business is flourishing, and I am trying to be very careful and tuck as much money away as possible for the lean times, but there is the challenge of pent up expenses- things I have needed that I put off, and I am having to balance this! I did buy tires for the car - $400 – ugh! But I could see the metal of the “steel belts” in all of the tires. So it was past time. I go through this financial balancing every year, but this time it seems harder – I have had a hard winter/early spring financially so I really want to buy the things I have put off; but am trying hard to keep tucking away enough in case next year is slow too…

Snowflake1968 - I drove 14’-28’ vans full of bundles of newspapers to the kids’ shacks in the mid-70s, and later to the distribution centers for the adult carriers. I usually took the more distant runs because I didn't want to come back, reload, and deal with BS as often. I worked for the Seattle Times for 25 years.
I'd been a bookkeeper/office manager for the previous 13 years. On the day I started as a Teamster I doubled my wages AND had excellent medical, dental and vision insurance and started accruing paid vacation days. I'd never had those in all my years of office work.
It made the difference between existing and living for my three daughters and I. Like many of you, I was left to be sole support after my divorce.
I had a happy marriage later. Third time’s a charm. He was my adorable older house husband and a great step-dad considering he took on two teen girls and a daddy-hungry 4-yo.
I'm now widowed and enjoy life with two kitty girls. Goldie is 6 and is a velcro orange tabby girl, which is rather unusual. Orange cats are mostly males because of genetics. She's a little shy and very living. Andromeda is 3, and a blue point Siamese. She doesn't know anything about the word ”stranger”. She will be sniffing your legs before you've gotten through the door.
I live 17 miles east of Seattle, Washington in a small town. Actually, I live 4 miles south of town on a property surrounded on three sides by state forest. We have raccoons, possums, coyotes, owls, hawks, eagles, songbirds of all sorts, bobcats, black bears and a few cougars. I haven't seen any in my 20 years here, but others have.
I'm holding my own so far this week, but I need to journal more accurately. The data goes to my Fitbit where I get a full report on almost every aspect except my sex life. But that's ok because there's been nothing to report in that area for several years.10 -

Trucker, I also have an orange cat who is a rare female. We've had her fixed. Her first name was Little Orange, then she was LittleO, then FattyO and now just Fatty. She weighs twice as much as any of the other cats. LOL
We have 8 cats, some of which live outside at the barn but most think the house is a fine place to hang out in winter. LOL Here is Sammy today.
He belonged to my daughter and ended up with us when she moved and could not keep him in her new rental. He is a real gentleman.
I've managed to get a few things done, in between the rain showers today. I moved the heavily pregnant mare up to the barn where I can keep a closer watch on her as she gets closer to foaling. And I wheelbarrowed three bales of hay from the bottom barn up to the top barn, as we only had one bale left up there. This was my gym workout today! I will have to move more hay up as weather permits.
I am now going to read by the fire and have half a scone for dessert and then hit the sack early. I have my student coming tomorrow, weather permitting. Wendy

Happiness today. I discovered a new decluttering project!
My large wicker basket in my bathroom cabinet.
I have been putting the free toiletries you get in hotels into it. Plus from the cruises. It was absolutely FULL.
I have thrown away a whole load, kept just a very few of the nicest ones for future guests and now have a selection on my bed to give away. My cleaner can gave first choice - she has four growing kids. Anything left can go to a homeless charity. A lady round the corner takes donations for a church project.
What a relief to do something with that huge box. How many shower caps does one person need!??! I do use the occasional one for bread rising.
This is the give away selection.
Now I just have to do the rest of the cabinet.
I just LOVE decluttering.

same nearly all her life. I used to put hands flat on the floor, but now it’s fingertips.
Rebecca, what ever works for you is the way to go.Over the years, have learned so much just going by
that. NO artifical sweetners, they trigger migranes for me,no chocolate after noon or so......or will be awake all night.
Almost nothing to drink after lunch.....or run to bathrm all night.Getting back to sleep is the problem.
Reading labels is a pain, but needs to be done.None of this works for others, but we all find our own path.
Being a slow loser is ok with me.My own path.BTW,my fav is usually savory, not sweet.
Hub loves sweet, but he is very tall & can eat whatever he wants & doesn’t gain.No fair!
Hubs friend waited a wk to find out if a spot on his lung was cancer. Yesterday, the Dr told him it’s walking pneumonia.
The Dr got a hug, then he stopped by & we both got hugs! Very happy for him.
Time to get this day started......you all have a good one. Pat
