Happy New Yr.
Congratulations on your new endeavor. Thats wonderful! 💖5 -
Hope everyone has a Happy New Year. Hopefully we have a better year.
Yup would love to sip some champagne but I'll kill it and feel like death Friday. So not going to happen. Not worth the short lived hurrah.

Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas were all alcohol free celebrations for me this year and today marks 68 straight days. I'm looking forward to the next 365 with a clear focus, a clean heart, and a sheer will to do and be better!10

I'm listening to Father Martin speak on Youtube, and he says with one swallow the alcoholic no matter how many years sober is catapulted back into the hell from which he came in the first place. There is instant return to a life of living a lie......" *I'm not saying your an alcoholic Aroze, but the words are wise.
So, sounds like me and you will be sober. I bought sparkling cider in the juice aisle. Cheers!
Best wishes to you for a happy new year!6 -

Happy new year to my strong sober friends! We will wake up so proud of ourselves.
Let’s do Dry January together too!7 -
Happy New Year!! I got my husband to commit to dry January as well as my friend who now lives in Germany. She is a big wine drinker and we never got together without wine involved when she lived here. I am so happy she is doing this because her organs definitely need a break. I wish us all health, happiness, a vaccine in the arm, and a sober 2021!6

I want to say a big "WELCOME!" to any new people that want to join us in this new year. We are a kind and compassionate group of people that are here for each other in various stages of sobriety. Believe me when I say we have heard it all and there is no judgement here. I hope you feel a sense of community here and feel free to join in the conversation.6

@FeelinFooFoo I LOVE your story and I am so glad you were firm with the lads! Happy New Year to you all!

Good morning ! @lloydrt So happy you stopped by. I am so proud of you and I appreciate your thoughtful words for me and all of us. Congrats on another sober New Year's Eve!! It is so nice to wake up clear headed.
Last night, I spent the evening with friends. I had my 00 Heineken. As my friends drank steadily, I saw one go downstairs and bring up another bottle of Crown. I'd say half got drunk out of the 6. But my point is they were very supportive of me and my goals. They know I am sober now.
At midnight, my friend poured me a little bit of champagne in a flute. She said Ruby, I poured you a little. Some might think that was sabotaging but I don't. I actually thought that was thoughtful - she said we poured you a sip. I declined. They can't possibly know that that sip would probably cause a relapse, but they are not alcoholics, so they meant no harm.
@FeelinFooFoo what a amazing celebration last night! Your positive influence caused the two men in your life to be sober. That is a small miracle. I bet today they woke up so proud.
@JenT304 Good morning friend! xoxo Yes we are a welcoming group. So thankful you started this thread.
@Beka3695 Happy Sober New Year !

Happy New Year to all my sobriety brothers & sisters, (especially Whit in Vegas, I pray all is well) I hope everyone has a great 2021! Yes, the scale is up a few pounds today, but it was so worth it! Back to the normal routine today. As a former beer hound, I gotta admit Heineken really knocked it out of the park, but I still seem to default to Diet Ginger Ale (without the Jameson now). Whatever works I say! Sometimes you just have to embrace the boredom. Thanks to all of you!5

Happy New Year, everyone. I'm looking forward to my first calendar year sober! Wednesday will be 6 months.
Foo Foo, I can't believe the "boys" didn't drink on New Year's Eve. Good for them and good for you. 70 days??? Wow! You are doing great. Enjoy your beautiful Scottish weather (homesick here!! If you ever wanna swap Glasgow/Texas houses for a holiday, just let me know ).4 -
Hello Everyone! I took a little break from being online but I am still AF and I'll be posting more. Glad to see you are all still here!
I ordered to gratitude journals last night from Amazon to write in everyday. I was so happy to see some of you had done the same!5 -

Hi Friends! It's been awhile since I popped in, but I wanted to share that I'm celebrating 2 years Alcohol Free today! One of the most challenging changes I made in my life, but one of the most positive. Happy New Year y'all!8

Thanks @JenT304! I feel proud of my decision to stay the course and I never regret not drinking. I've had more than my share of grief and anxiety lately, but I know drinking would only add to the problems, not fix anything. It hasn't been the easiest road, but I encourage everyone to stay the course. Alcohol free is definitely the way to be!6 -
Thanks for reminder about the gratitude journal. I will get mine back out and write before bed.3
-
FooFoo, Thank you for that. You are a breath of fresh air and a blessing.5

@FeelinFooFoo good story- and very relevant. I would always turn to booze to take the edge off. Sometimes, I'd come home from work and take a few swigs from an opened wine bottle. Ahhhh that relaxed me instantly.
So, that poor guy was having a bad day and he wanted to get wasted. Don't we all? But we don't.
It is a choice.
On another note, My mom wrote me a lengthy email that she is concerned about my sister's obesity and health overall; my mom wants to help her , give advice, and talk to her about it.
I said you cannot say anything to her really. She knows she's obese and despises it. It gives her low self esteem. I said just offer my sister unconditional love and perhaps deliver some healthy soup to her or some meals, so she doesn't have to grab junk food after a long 12 hour day at work. My sister has been battling addiction to food and alcohol for 40 years ; she is on track with her AF life (over 300 days alcohol free) and now she and I have to tackle our eating issues.
I'm really happy that many of us have chosen to abstain from alcohol. Maybe not for forever, but just for today. We can worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.7
