I love you guys, and appreciate the support more than I can tell you - also reached out to my husband who gave me 20 minutes out of his very busy morning to just tell me the things I know. I have worth, and that she cannot see it is due to her filters. If I didn't care about my job, this would be one heck of a lot easier.
Lisa in El Paso for way too long already...4 -
But her overall assessment was that it is still up for question as to whether my grant work over the last year was enough to offset that cost.
Which leaves me trying to cope with the fact that, to her, the grant work I've done over the last year was for something she does not believe should have been done (long story, not worth going into--chalk it up to a huge difference in philosophies from my previous CEO). This means that all the work to bring in a half million more in grants than the year previous has been dismissed as not worth doing, and of no value to the organization. That is her truth.
Lisa -- this is just ridiculous. How can that not be valuable?? I would love to have someone here bringing in that kind of cash into the institution.
I am so, so sorry. <hugs>

Tumble came through her chocolate episode with no ill effects, none! Thank Goodness. Kinda wish she had had an upset tummy, to discourage further tabletop forays. We'll just have to be more diligent about pushing chairs in when we get up from table.
Allie ditto what Katla said. Your heart is inspiring. Glad you got such good laughs from the Blue Collar guys!
Tracey I'm with you about the tangled web. As an adolescent I was an incorrigible liar and it always bit me in the butt. FINALLY learned.
NYKaren just tryin' to do the math :noway: Freddie's gets ~$6 for a little over 32 oz of Fage fat free approx 9 half cup servings. Sounds like a half gallon of full fat organic milk at ~$5 would cost less for 7 full cup servings so could be a big savings, if I can factor the extra fat calories in...
SueB safe travels and con VERY grats to the DG for his hard work and excellent recovery.
Heather I used to find it hard to discard out of date dry goods, early training from Depression era parents. It's easier now as Joe is VERY picky about expiration dates ;}
Rebecca, never thought of clothes in a sauna, most I could imagine is a bathing suit. Surely your swag can be considered a wrap/coverup?
Felicia "so I don't have diabetes" good on you for finding the positive in scary blood work. (((hugs)))
Barbie thanks for sharing the good Jake news. Happy just thinking of you at line dance class.
Michele only an hour of sleep is nothing unusual?
Sharon
Karen in VA thanks for adding the variables to the unanswerable equation calories/ingredient control and relative costs risk/benefit. Never thought of heavy cream yoghurt cheese as cream cheese alternative, might try that!
Lanette chuckled at your hooking up to the MD office's wifi to catch up on email. How recently would our only options have been dog eared magazines?
Lisa I am stunned that the interim CEO could say USD$.5 million in grants over last year was not worth your salary plus travel expenses.
That simply does not make sense. :noway: Perhaps it IS time to polish up your resume and highlight those grant successes. There are many non-profits out there whose mission would speak to you AND entail less traveling. Just exactly how long is the "interim" expected to be...
Joe's gone for a bike ride so now's my chance to do noisy things... heavy laundry which makes the washer CLUNK, vacuuming, oh joy!
Lighter, lovelies!

Felica--Sending hugs and prayers.
KJ--What a neat adventure to look forward to with your sister and her friend.
Lisa--WOW!! I am not sure how I would deal with that. After all you have done. WOW!
Not really a lot going on here. I do think I may have a touch of the flu. Not able to keep much down. Maybe that is not all bad. DGD is getting a award at school this afternoon, so leaving work an hour early so can attend that.
Last Friday DH went car shopping. We had been talking about trading the van off as seems to be nickel and diming us. So anyway he brought a 2015 Privus. It is a little car for sure and I admit I do like it so far. Never had one that small or new before. Only thing is I was driving the interstate to Lincoln to visit my friend and I was going 90 before I realized it. Being a Hybrid getting great gas mileage.

'Vera' on repeats tonight. I know some of you like it. So do we.
Had a lovely AF beer and shared a tin of anchovy olives at 5.15 this pm. Watched Antiques Road Trip and just vegged out. Bliss!
Had a bit of a shock this pm. I've been trying to find the best friend I wrote about in my first volume of memoir. Googled her to no effect. We lost touch when our children were young when I think she was going through a difficult time. Writing my book made me wonder about her. I Googled her husband and came up with someone I was pretty sure was him. I emailed the organisation he works for and asked them to pass on the email. Today he replied. Definitely him and he mentioned her name. He didn't say if my friend was still alive, or what has happened to her, but invited me to email him directly. I am a bit weirded out and haven't done it yet. I feel like a ghost has visited me. Haven't heard from her in nearly 40 years, but I guess if they were still together she would have emailed me, not just him.
Will have to collect myself.
She was my 'blood sister' at junior school. We did the whole pricking fingers and pressing them together thing. We stayed in touch till we were over thirty, when she pulled away.
DH emptied an under the stairs cupboard today. Needs inspection, but it will have to wait until tomorrow.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxx

Lisa, hugs friend! I'm sorry this is happening to you. Calming hugs!💗
Yep, Sharon, I don't understand hangups with undressing. I have been giving this body, and to find disgust with it, is energy that is pointless. Sure, I would love to be a size 4, but its in the same mindset as wishing to win the lottery.
Tomorrow he head down to Tacoma and have lunch with middle son and his wife. Wanting them to see my youngest son before he goes to Japan. It should be a fun, long day. 2 and a half hours drive there. My husband will most likely do the driving, because he knows I hate it. I might take over driving if he gets too tired.
Made awesome tapioca, but for me it was just too sweet. Saved a bowl for my eldest son. Put a note on the container in the refrigerator. THIS IS TAPIOCA, EAT ME!
Hugs everyone!

Thank you, my tribe, for your sheltering arms and responses. I've been needy too much of late, and this is waking me up to that fact. I gathered all my support systems this morning, my husband, my co-workers, and Rori, as well as y'all, for the lifting up that I needed, and I am ever grateful for the response. I'm sailing on fair waters now, the storm is past, and I just need a following breeze to find the way back to Arkansas next Tuesday.
I hope I can return the favor.
Thank you,
Lisa in El Paso for a little while longer3 -
Heather - I've been watching VERA reruns, but took a break to watch The Worricker Trilogy". Wow, different and good in my opinion. I was surprised to see Christopher Walken and Winona Ryder in the 2nd episode, and like other on-line reviewers, I am amazed at how the dialogue alone keeps my interest. Just started the third episode.
The husband of your friend's response was interesting! I am curious what's up! I am tempted to search out friends I had 50 years ago but when I don't see them on Facebook or can't track them down in some fashion, I do start to wonder.
Barbara AHMOD - my DH's complaints about noise is the very reason I spend $$ on a housecleaner every 2 weeks. He hides in his shop for 2 hours and I go shopping. I actually didn't mind cleaning house when I had the place to myself and could take my time. And he did offer to "help" which actually made more work for me, lol.
Picked up Decluttering at the Speed of Life at the library. We do a fairly good job at keeping the clutter down and I've been thinning out extra TV's and items the senior thrift store can use. It's the stuffed closets and pantry and drawers that need help. I see she has a website and blog "A Slob Comes Clean."
Lisa - Barbara has a great idea. Get your resume beefed up no matter what. You have a lot of successes at that job you can be proud of! Get that knee fixed and then get ready to kick some tush, lol. What happened to the former CEO? Did she leave of her own accord and where did she end up, does anyone know?

afternoon dear friends~
I went on a spending spree today.. not really something I shouldn't have done...but I did buy a 6 quart instant pot, i have wanted one and will bring my older crock pot here for Tom,,, It is supposed to be nasty weather this weekend and they are driving back up tomorrow, so what I will do early Saterday morning is put a pot roast in the crock pot for them to have when they get back...I will take my stuff back to my place most of it tomorrow.. and do the sheets and bedding tomorrow night..so they will have fresh sheets to come home to
I also bought some new bedding.. which I really needed.. Alfie the rascal has mutilated my sheets and pillows. bought a beautiful bedspread with birds on it ..most everything was on sale.. but feel bad.. I know I shouldnt feel guilty , but I do3 -
Allie- have you talked to a counselor about your relationship with your ex. Sounds to me more like you are still trying to get him back. Or prove to him that you are a prize that got away. This behavior doesn't seem healthy. I understand forgiveness but you are really inserting yourself into their lives and if I was Elena I would definitely put a stop to it. Sorry if this may upset you but my sister did the same thing. Not a healthy situation.

Lisa ... let me add that I too think that the "interim" CEO's comments are the damnedest dumbest things I've heard in a long time. Wondering if she isn't threatened by your success?? Hoping her time is short with your organization.
Allie ... $100 colonoscopy prep is ridiculous. My doctor ordered all OTC items that probably didn't cost more than $10-15 total. I'm inclined to agree with Mary by the way ... please be careful what you invest emotionally in your ex.
Janetr ... love your sense of humor and your ornaments!!
Rye ... although you're probably gone by now ... I'll miss you too and hope you are able to come back soon.
Margaret ... lovely snapshot of blessings.
I've had the stomach flu ... boo hoo. Thought it was gall stones acting up but it morphed into something entirely different. As I understand that our local ER is seeing a lot of stomach bug, I'm guessing that's what it was. Interesting ... I stopped a lot of my OTC pills over the last week (because I couldn't keep them down) ... and I can see my ankles. For the past year, my ankles have been swelling horribly. They are currently slim and trim!! Hmmm??
I need to declutter again and need to get past the kitchen drawers, (Drkatiebug). My basement is a train wreck. And it's stressing me out.
Have a good evening ladies,
Beth near Buffalo

Thank you ladies for the wonderful advice,no not trying to get him back at all,and it is going to be quite yucky out..just trying to have something warm for them when they get home is all...
No I have been here for a week taking care of the pups ,but anxious to get back to my place and my life..
And not trying to have an unhealthy relationship...honest..
Thank you all so much for caring about me .so wonderful to have sister friends like you xoxo.2 -
Hello all: Have been to the YM this morning and did water exercise and swam 500 yds of laps. Also have horses fed and goats. I think they are glad to be back in their usual shed. Cool and rainy today. Have been doing lots of outside chores the last few days while the weather was nice but going to work indoors today. My kitchen floor is awful. Also need to vacuum. Pork chops in the crockpot tonight for dinner.
Lisa - A half million increase in grants seems to me more than worth your travel expenses. Not just sure where she is coming from.
Heather - Glad things are coming together for you. Good luck with finding space to park the lorries.
KJ - Glad you will be able to make it to the funeral.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA3 -
Beth, if I just lived closer, we would tackle that basement together.
Lisa, your interim CEO seems clueless.
I’ve been dealing with family drama but hopefully it has almost worked itself out. I’m still not totally happy with what is going on, but I’m trying to let it go. The good news is that for once in my life it upset me so bad I lost my desire to eat rather than it tempting me to stress eat.

Well the buyers got there Mortgage,so it's almost done...
Going to go up to dad's house and take pictures of the house while there is no rain...and say goodbye to the house..very emotional leaving your childhood home..but I will surivive ..busy busy day ..but will have fun tomorrow afternoon at the nursing home..
Lisa- I agree with our friends that something is rotten in Denmark...I'm going to pray that works in your favor..you have been a Godsend to the scouting community...xoxo4 -
Lisa (((hugs)))) you give all of us tons of support and advice. Bask in a little support from us.
I suppose the task lays before me....I will measure and see what kind of output I get from 1/2 gallon of whole milk when it turns into yogurt, unstrained and then strained. I will let you all know by Sunday evening, I'm sure the results are "weighing" on everyone's mind.
Super intense day today, but I handled my eating and choices very wisely and I walked about a mile while meeting with my 22 yo mentee, lots to talk about, first year of teaching is really tough!
NYKAREN3 -
Lisa your input is always invaluable, so you shouldn't worry about "returning the favor"! And all I can say about that interim CEO is wow, just wow.... Not quite sure how half a million dollars in additional funding isn't a worthwhile contribution. Glad to hear that things are getting better for you!

Machka: What is ANZAC Day?
Katla in Beautiful NW Oregon
https://anzacday.org.au/index.html
A lot like Remembrance Day
"“ANZAC” was the name given to a combined force of First Australian Imperial Force and New Zealand Army troops who landed on Turkey’s Gallipoli Peninsula at around dawn on Sunday, the 25th day of April, 1915, barely nine months after the outbreak of World War I."

I agree.
Follow the interim CEO's advice, get your resume ready and apply for other work.
Is it possible your organisation is going under, and this interim CEO wanted to give you a hint so that you weren't caught completely off guard?
And (from my experience) "interim" means that you could be dealing with several CEO's in a row now. I did that with head Engineers in one place I worked ... went through a whole pile of "bosses" in a row because the encouraged one to move on, and then filled it with "interim" people who each had their own agendas. With each one, it was just a matter of hanging on till the next one came on board a couple months later.
Now is the time to look after yourself!

Edit: I also wonder if this CEO is looking at things from a technology perspective, perhaps thinking that all the travelling could be replaced with Skype and other virtual meetings at less cost.

It helps that we're back into long weekend season again. In Canada, there are long weekends every month, or just about every month. But here in Australia, they pack the long weekends into late-October to mid-June and there's nothing for 4 months in the winter. Makes for a very long winter. In the past, we've tried to travel somewhere warm in the winter to break it up.
Although I will likely still be busy, I do plan to take some time to relax a little bit.

Got a 2.5 km run in yesterday.
Also slept in both yesterday and today.
And spent some time before falling asleep last night reading. I've been making a habit of doing a little bit of reading (like 10-15 min) most nights, but last night I read for at least half an hour.
I have started reading the Chronicles of Narnia (again), and suddenly discovered I was missing one: The Magician's Nephew". So I went on a hunt through used bookstores the other day, and found a copy. I'm reading that right now.
These days, I like light, quick, easy-to-read fiction to read before bed because so much of my day I'm slogging through academic peer-reviewed articles or instruction manuals.

Did Leslie Sansone 5 Mile Fat Burn DVD. The plan for tomorrow is to take the water aerobics class.
After exercise, went and got my blood drawn for my physical next Friday (they should have the results by then) then went to WalMart. Now have a load of laundry in the wash. As soon as it comes out of the wash, I’ll go outside to help Vince with the Halloween decorations.
Not sure why my post from yesterday didn’t post, but it didn’t. And I certainly don’t remember everything, so I’ll just muddle forward.
Sue in WA – last year I put down weed and feed along with grass seed and it worked out great. This year Vince told me that you shouldn’t put down Weed and Feed now but in the spring. Personally, I’d do it both times until the weeds are gone. Just another example of how he feels he knows about putting in a lawn. When we had the pool put it, afterwards they seeded and fertilized the entire backyard. After a few weeks, Vince told me that we needed to rake up the straw. Well, we raked the straw and guess what else? Some of the new grass. See, growing up we lived in an apt. so I really didn’t have experience taking care of a lawn so I listened to Vince. Now it’s costing us much more. Oh well…..
SuebDew – what a sale!
Oh Lisa – (hugs)
Barbara – when I said “nothing unusual” I meant that just getting an hour of sleep after taking a decongestant is totally normal. The decongestant keeps me up until all hours. Of course, the next day I crash
Vicki – best of luck with the car. I’m so happy for you

Allie, If Tom paid you for the going rate for staying with his dogs and you didn't buy a new pot and buy food for him, you'd have plenty of money to pay for the needed prep for your needed colonoscopy. If it's a cold night and Tom is hungry, he can go to a restaurant and get take out to feed himself.
Vicki, enjoy your new car. It sounds fabulous.6 -
Hi Gals,
Lisa – ((((((((((hugs))))))))))))
I got the first two grants ever for the garden at camp and ($1500) and basically got told it was just pennies (the garden’s annual budget is $360) makes it hard to understand what they are thinking. Hip Hip Hooray for Rori putting it in perspective. Job hunting here you come – there is the right thing out there – maybe reach out to the last CEO and see what she may know of.
Allie – I know you feel you are being nice, and you are, but certain times nice is not called for – not that you should be mean, but neutral…. And in this case I would define neutral as taking care of the dogs (you have ½ custody); cleaning up after yourself – clean sheets… BUT not helping them out, so no fixing dinner. It is about taking care of you first (who paid for that roast?) and setting expectations -- he made a choice – it was Elaina- he doesn’t get both – Elaina for horizontal aerobics and to play with and you as the unpaid house/dog keeper.
Smiles

Morning my friends~
thank you for all your comments and for sure will take that into consideration...

lots to do today...1 -
Good morning from Ontario. I'm Cindy (age 59) and trying so hard to lose my last 20 pounds. I'm looking for an honest group of like minded people to help motivate and encourage me.
I exercise, eat properly (most of the time) and generally take care of myself. I just have this nasty habit of snacking in the evenings.
So here it goes......
Starting weight is 193.0 pounds / Goal weight for 2018 is 183.0 pounds (10lbs by Dec 31/18)
Limit my evening snacking to 100-200 cals AND portion controlled. I will try to keep the snacks to a healthy variety, but chips & cookies are my weakness.
