@fraukazi the days seem to go by fast and although our weight seems to mentally slow things down, it does make a difference in the long run and we eventually end up with our future selves to deal with. Even if your results haven't been what you expected they would be, it is a lot better to stay accountable rather then go off and quit. Like you said, who knows where you would have been and how much you would have continuously gained. I find you inspirational and am so happy you are still here, logging with us. I love reading your posts and I know you can do it!10 -

01/23🥂 *my 9 year anniversary with my hubby*🥂140.0 Wow, what a whoosh! I also saw 139.8 but didn't want to jinx it, so took the higher number. I will be honest, it might not stay. Today is my anniversary and my man is planning a night of activities so I might indulge. I will be exercising and I will try and eat healthy veggies and fruits but keep the higher end calories for tonight's dinner. It will be an NSV if I stay away from desert, which I am really worried about. My hubby told me I have been doing amazing and it is only one night but I am apprehensive because I am beginning to close the gap between the 40s and 30s and don't want to off set it....but he is right. I always jump back on again and it will just take a few extra days to get back to this weight, but I can do it.
01/24142 I just love to force myself to really work for my losses lol. Last night was amazing, my hubby and I had a great time together, playing games, eating Chinese food and watching tv. It was so relaxing and I am so blessed to have him in my life. I am so happy I am with him and I don't know what I have ever done to deserve such an amazing human being. I am truly blessed. I know this uptick is from the salt from last night's dinner and I don't expect it to stay for long, I am actually surprised it wasn't more. I ate so much food, i literally hurt myself. Still feeling slightly bloated this morning too. But I did exercise good and drank a little over 1 liter of water. Hopefully I can undo most of this damage by tomorrow but I know it will take a couple of days to see if it really has come off.

I made chicken pot pie (single crust) last night - delish! but too much fat (butter, cream...). So I believe veggie soup is on the schedule tonight or tomorrow night! On the plus side, I've been back to weight training for about 3 weeks now and have increased the weights significantly, so am happy to see that I hadn't lost all previous progress on the strength front. Note to women losing weight - take care of your bones during the process! Talk to your doctor about checking Vit D level and your possible need for D and K and magnesium, and keep up weight-bearing exercise. My last DexaScan (bone density) showed significant bone density loss, probably due to significant weight loss the previous 3 years. We have to take care of our bodies as we reshape them.

I am a 50 year old 5'5" woman. I am trying to get healthier to avoid diabetes and all of the problems that come from being overweight.
I have found this challenge to be both rewarding and frustrating! Looking at my weight daily has been a real eye opener to see all of the fluctuations and how a high carb day will affect me and the loss for 2-3 days after. I have been participating in this challenge since Round 40 My average loss/gain since Round 40 to 63 is a 0.5lb loss each round. This was better than I expected!

Goal: As a furloughed employee I didn't really how much of a challenge it would be for me to get my water in without the daily structure of work, so my goal for this round is to figure out a method that will work for me to get my water in while I am off work.

01/23--214.9 I am going to try a new plan to get my water in...I have a pitcher that I am going to fill with water and I'll place it on the table so that I can see the pitcher throughout the day. Hopefully, this will remind me to drink my water. Today is run day, hopefully the rain lets up soon. Yoga tonight.
01/24--214.9 The water pitcher idea from yesterday worked! Even though I increased my water intake yesterday, I also did a lot of mindless snacking yesterday, so I need to work on that today. Finished w2d2 of c25k yesterday; however, I woke up this morning with some pain around the knee, so I don't know if I will be going to the gym today. I think I will do some stretching/foam rolling and if the knee feels better I will go to the gym later this evening, if no change then I will just skip the gym today.

01/23: 230.6 @ 7:03a – It’s always very encouraging to start a round lower than you ended the previous one! I met almost all of my goals today, and I got a Fitbit green screen today for the first time in a while (accomplished goals for steps, miles, calories expended, exercise done, and flights of stairs climbed - all in the same day). The one thing that has been killing me is water intake, which gets tricky if supply is an issue or the day gets busy. I’m going to work on this tomorrow to get back in the swing of things. If this progression sticks for more than a few days then I will update my goal for the round!

01/23 181.9 This is getting to be too much. In 20 days I'm down 1 pound. There is a part of me that thought I'd skip this round. It's too depressing for me when I'm eating within calories and staying focused on exercise with no weight loss. I honestly had one bad calorie day on Sunday, every other day I have been within goal. I keep expecting a whoosh that isn't coming. I need to accept I'm here - not at 178 like I was for a few days. Old Kris tells me to give up and eat whatever I want and how much I want. Screw walking, screw the gym, forget the stupid C25K idea you're too old, fat, out of shape etc. I need to slap the crap out of Old Kris (OK), because that's what I've done every time. Keep me accountable people. I need this challenge.
01/24 181.9 Still here. I walked three freezing miles yesterday and fell on the stupid ice. I'm not walking today, my body is a little sore. I fell on ice twice this week, I think that's a sign. Plus they have temperature warnings for this afternoon, frost bite can set in within 15 minutes of exposure. A good sign to take the night off. My calories were low yesterday, didn't eat back my exercise calories but over on sodium. I guess that's why I'm stuck. On a positive note, have you guys tried the Green Giant Fresh bowls? I had the Teriyaki sauce with sesame seeds bowl last night with a chopped up chicken breast and it was delicious. Thank you again for the support yesterday. 1/23 - 166.4 - Back from vacation and on track with eating healthy. Last night I food prepped lots of healthy options for snacks and meals this week. I'm set up to reach my goal of 165 by January 31st!
1/24 - 167.8 - Yesterday I was under calories and had two walks. My weight really fluctuates from day to day, I started January 1st at 172 pounds, so I'm losing overall. Today my plan is to stay at or under calories and walk at lunch and go for a run after work.

1/23: 198.8 - thank goodness! 🤩 Onederland! This was the woosh I was expecting all last round. Hit all my goals yesterday.
1/24: 198.2 - met, and exceeded, all my goals yesterday. Tried drinking 150oz of water, which is recommended for my weight by a lot of calculators, but had to get up 3x during the night, so I’ll stick with the 100oz still, which allows me to sleep through the night. I made oatmeal chocolate chip walnut cookies with the kids yesterday AM, and have so far resisted having one. Normally I would crave one for breakfast with my coffee, but sweet doesn’t sound *as good* in the AMs after trying to do high protein in the mornings for the last month (this is a great NSV for me!), and I know if I start my day with one, it could all go downhill fast. @fraukazi - I love your posts and your honesty. It’s been inspiring to see that you may fall off the wagon, but you still show up, report it, and try again. I imagine this process is made harder by being away from “home” too - I think it is amazing you are being strong enough to do this while navigating a new place too. Keep going - you are doing great! I know I haven’t been here all that long, but your posts truly help me see what’s to come and what struggles to expect - they seem very authentic, and also very typical! I think managing my expectations the further I get will be hard for me, so knowing all this and having people be open about the struggles and the timeline is really helpful!
Editing to add - your post made me think of that quote I always see on inspiration boards. Something to the effect of, “In 3 months you will either love the results, or be annoyed at yourself for not trying.” We are all trying, which IS a result in and of itself. Being annoyed about over-snacking a couple of days here and there is better than being annoyed for not even trying over a long period of time I’d say! Being annoyed at slow progress is better than being annoyed at no progress too.8 -
On a positive note, have you guys tried the Green Giant Fresh bowls? I had the Teriyaki sauce with sesame seeds bowl last night with a chopped up chicken breast and it was delicious.

@BethE238, I used to think I got headaches from lack of caffeine, but then I stopped drinking caffeine for several weeks and the headaches didn't change. Turns out I was mixing up my cause and effect. Yes, caffeine helps my headaches, but lack of caffeine doesn't cause them.5
