01/23 - 190.1 - I stayed low carb all day yesterday and I’m on the right track for today so far!
01/24 - 189 - Headed in the right direction. I had a very stressful day and I really wanted to eat the stress away with carbs, but I didn’t. I wasn’t perfect on eating no carbs, but in the past I would have said screw it and gotten something sweet when I was stressed. I’m really trying to clean up my relationship with food, especially carbs.

ROUND 66 (Round 12 for me)
5’5” 66 y/o Texas Lady
SW 178 lb.
GW 135 lb.
Cumulative weight loss for Rounds 54-65 = 36.4 lb.
I started Round 54 and Keto WOE on September 24, 2018. My arthritis hip and shoulder pain have decreased significantly since my second week of Keto. Staying within calorie limits is easy enough, but not exceeding my carb limit is still tricky for me. I check my ketone level with a KetoMojo meter a couple of times a week to make sure my numbers are good. Some of my NSVs: feeling less self-conscious, wedding band fits, smaller clothing, a happy husband, and inspiring said husband to work a little harder on quitting his cigarette habit. The closer I get to my goal, the more excited and motivated I become! Don’t expect me to disappear when I reach maintenance. I like you folks, and I really appreciate and enjoy your company!

01/23 143.4 (sigh) Easy come, easy go. I’m up almost 2 pounds from my weigh-in yesterday. If I’d gone back to bed, I wonder how long it would have taken to go down? Oh well, I had to go to work and a foot doctor appointment this afternoon. I’m less than 10 lb. from my goal, and I will get there. It may not go down tomorrow. It’s cold, and I’m treating myself to a glass of dry red wine. I prefer sweet, but this is pretty good. It’s probably good because I’m not used to sugar anymore. As long as I’m ready for our cruise in April, I’ll be happy. I found out my daughter and her husband are signed up for the same cruise (not planned), and my granddaughter called from Kansas, very excited, to say they’ve decided to take her out of school that week so she can go! We love cruising with and spending time with my granddaughter and took her to Alaska last summer. She has a boyfriend now, so I expect her to start spending less time with me, and over 700 miles between us doesn’t help, either. Please excuse me, but I’m using these daily posts as a journal and keeping copies. Kill two birds with one stone kind of thing?
01/24 141.0 Yesterday’s gain is gone, so I’m glad I didn’t stress over it. I’ve corrected my priorities after someone in the Christian MFP group I belong to asked if we were more diligent about logging in MFP than we were about our Bible study. I found myself guilty, so Bible study is now done with breakfast rather than logging in here first. I played cards with friends today, and I took Thor for a 5 mile walk this afternoon. It was a very pleasant day.

@abowersgirl I loved hearing about your great husband. I'm fortunate to have a great husband, too. It makes life much more enjoyable. I still blame my husband for my weight gain, because I've been so content since we married. I was always stressed in my first marriage, and it kept me slim, sometimes underweight.
@shunggie Move south! When I married my Yankee husband, I told him I couldn't move north of Austin, TX. Fortunately, he has no desire to live in a cold climate again.7 -

01/24 84.2kg and it stopped raining so I ran.

01/23 162.6 Hoping to get back on track today with food and eating. Last month I was on a juice fast for three days during my time of the month, so it was hard to see what the weight fluctuations looked like. I started today so will start tracking that going forward since I already can feel myself retaining water more than usual.
01/24 161.6 Had a great day yesterday, but all day today I have had a splitting headache so was unable to go the gym. I have been drinking a lot of water and did stay in my calorie allowance, so hoping for a good weigh in tomorrow and for this headache to leave.

@FarmerCarla this is so crazy because I just read my daily devotion 5 minutes ago and then your post.. so maybe you need to hear this too. This was my devotion. Not saying this completely pertains to your situation or not telling you to change anything, but it's got to mean something that I just read it before seeing what you posted! Sorry in advance to everyone for the long post:
It’s OK to Enjoy Your Life
There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God. Ecclesiastes 2:24(KJV)
Enjoyment is the fuel we need to reach the finish line of an endeavor with a good attitude. We may drive ourselves to finish, but somewhere along the way we will probably become bitter and get a chip on our shoulder if we don’t lighten up and take time to celebrate the journey.
Too many people work constantly and stress themselves out, feeling guilty about enjoying and celebrating life when God has clearly ordained and commanded both labor and enjoyment. Ecclesiastes 2:24 says that it’s good for us to relax and enjoy ourselves in the midst of hard work.
Our thinking has been warped in this area. Satan has managed to deceive us, and by doing so he succeeds in keeping people weary and worn-out, feeling resentful and taken advantage of because of excessive work and responsibility.
We need times of refreshment and recreation as well as work and accomplishment. You should be diligent in whatever task God has placed in front of you, but make sure that you find a balance by learning to reward yourself and enjoy life. God thinks you are worth it!6 -

@cdavisdeva I think we're actually on the same page. I absolutely enjoy my life. I sing with a gospel group, and our ministry message this year is "Joy in the Journey." Over the half century since I accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, it's amazing how he's watched out for me, forgiven me, drawn me back, and even caused good to come from my mistakes. What more could I ask for? I'm very grateful. The encouragement I receive from scripture is a big boost for my days. I deprive myself when I fail to fill up on the Word. I'm sure you understand what I mean.
I have a lot of friends, and participate in church and several social groups. I'm well aware that God will lead me to do the works he has for me, and I don't try to take over and make extra work for myself by doing works He hasn't called me to perform. I think that's what you were speaking of for people who "work constantly and stress themselves out." Sure, we're sometimes called to do difficult things that make us uncomfortable, but we can trust Him to be there and give us strength to complete those works. We're on a wondrous journey, complete with trials and triumphs, before we reach our final destination and "dwell in the house of the Lord forevermore!" See you there!6 -
@FarmerCarla yes!! I was speaking of the feeling guilty part because sometimes I do struggle with finding a good balance, and just copied and pasted the whole devotion but I know you got the gist of it ❤.5

@MsBaz2018 If just eating at a deficit doesn't create weight loss for you, maybe you need to try another method. You may need to experiment to see what works for you. I think we both started this quest in September. I'm following a low-carb keto plan and, starting at 178 lb, I've lost over 30 lb. to date. Don't give up on yourself. Persist until you figure out what works. Best wishes!6

Oh it's just daily venting. I have lost 25 lbs since Sept. I went down to 204.6 a few days ago but I think had high sodium meals in the past couple of days. By the end of the week I'll be back on track.
ETA: I eat like 55% carbs and 10% proteins so keto is definitely not for me😉7 -

01/25 - 184lbs - I thought this would drop. I ate well yesterday, logged everything, drank plenty etc. But I am now full of cold and full of snot, so maybe I'm retaining water due to that? Who knows?!

01/23 58.6 kg Feeling good and excited to start this round. Completed a 30 min run this morning, and have all my meals packed at work and logged
01/24 57.9 kg The rest of yesterday was good; stayed within my calorie goal, had loads of water and went to bed early. This morning's weight is a big drop from yesterday, so I doubt it will stick around, but it is definitely motivation to stay on track today No run this morning but will try get to gym this afternoon. We are having dinner at my mil's which always causes some anxiety because her food is incredible but often buttered/crumbed/sauced/etc. Will try and be mindful of what I dish up.
01/25 57.7 kg Yesterday was good. Went to gym as planned and had a great upper body weight lifting session, plus ended up not going to the mil so had a small dinner at home. I am surprised to see the 57's sticking around but I expect that to change over the weekend as I find it almost impossible to stay on track when the week is over Also completed a 30 minute run this morning

Wed 01/23 70.8 (+0.3) no yoga in the morning, treadmill walk and short run done (35mins, around 5.5km)
So yesterday got slightly out of hand after some work frustrations. I asked a friend to come over for a glass of wine and we had a few glasses, snacks and stayed up waaaay too late. So i didn't have time for yoga this morning, but made time to pack health breakfast, lunch and snacks. I also packed my gym gear and will do at least 30mins of walking on the treadmill, there is no excuse not to do that - aim for what's achievable
This is my last week in the gym here, next week's evenings will be spend with DH and not the treadmill
Thu 01/24 71.4 (+0.6) yoga & treadmill run&walk (70mins, 50 running, 10km)
All my own fault, I was very hungry after that wine on Tue and had to work late after I got home, so of course I told myself I deserved snacks, which were left over from Tue.
shunggie, bethe238, afti50 and abowersgirl (links taken off) you know, last night, when I was guiltily enjoying my snacks and didn't log everything, I thought 'maybe this calorie counting just isn't for me. I've been doing it since May and don't have much to show for'. And then I read your posts and encouragement and realised that it is hard and if I hadn't been here, I probably would have gained more than I have lost, exercised less and just been annoyed with myself. So thank you for reminding me that it is worth it, however slowly. Your journeys are inspiring!
Fri 01/25[ 70.9 (-0.5) yoga done / treadmill depends on work
Alright, this is my last weekend that i'll be logging for about 3 weeks and I feel like it might not happen and that's ok. After the lovely comments I received, I had a talk with myself and realised a few things: Last time I spent 3 months in southern Africa, I gained around 10 kilos - I was 15 years younger. This time, I didn't gain anything apart from a wealth of experiences, new confidence in myself as a person and professionally, more love for my husband (this is the longest we've ever been apart), more appreciation for regular yoga practice and treadmill running, and many new low-medium recipes cooked very quickly with causing as little washing up as possible. I also met and reconnected with many lovely people, both in person and online.
Now, to my progress, I really need to change my eating patterns. It's not even that I'm very unhealthy, but I "spend" 500-700cals on snacks&fruit every day instead of proper meals. I love grazing throughout the day and then also at night. Basically, I could just eat snacks and no proper meals exclusively. I have changed chocolate bars and cookies (with some exceptions) for fruit, nuts, popcorn over the last year or so, but it's still too much, the cals add up so quickly. I don't know how to change my mindset that those snacks are a reward or fuel for "hard" work (desk work), but I'll keep trying. I've changed my goal to only 0.25kg loss per week to match my sedentary lifestyle here and am on 1510cals/day, but I mostly eat 1700-1900 in the week and probably more most weekends. That may explain my lack of proper downward progress, I should just admit that I'm currently in maintenance and accept that. Any exercise I do just ensures that I don't have serious gains and keep my mind balanced.
Wow, sorry for the long post, so many revelations and realisations this morning.
Have a good weekend!12 -

”Consistency over a day - no problem. Consistency over a week - ehh. Consistency over a month is hard. Now think about consistency over six months or a year. That takes grit, accountability and preparation.”— Author UnknownRound 64 - SW 373.4 EW 369 (-4.4)
Round 65 - SW 370.8 EW 375.4 (+4.6)
Net change 2019 = (+0.2)- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be as much as 2 lbs a day for no apparent reason.
- A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

SW- 218.0
01/23-216.2- yesterday finished at just under 1700cals, I'm happy with that.
01/24-217.4- not so good yesterday, was tempted to not log but I did. I will be having a low cal day today. I have to remind myself that one day does not take away my successes for the last few weeks, according to Fitbit I have still come away with a deficit from it anyway...so why do I feel so guilty and de-motivated?x
01/25- 215.8- 1350cals yesterday. I'm going to get out in the drizzle in a minute and walk the dog and then Iv got plenty of housework to crack on with. My 1 year old has been very fussy the last few days and nights due to not feeling very well with a nasty cold, I'm feeling a little worn down and tired. Today is going to be a good day, weigh in with the family tomorrow and it would be nice to lose something X

@bryony_bby Hugs! It's awful when the little ones are ill. And exhausting. Even worse if you are unwell too, so fingers crossed you don't catch it!
My colleagues are all ordering a 'payday breakfast' this morning (think fry up). I am resisting. But, as it's Friday and payday, I have got a chicken korma and rice for hubby and I to share tonight, with some naan bread and onion bhajis. This will put me over my target calories a bit, but I'll still be creating a deficit, so hopefully won't derail my goals for the week too much. Picked up a spaghetti and meatballs meal in the reduced section for our DD (2.5yrs) this morning as well so I don't have to do any real cooking tonight10 -

Day/Weight/Comment
01/23 - 61.8 kg (136.2 lbs.). A good starting point for the round. Did “six-pack in 6 weeks” with Jillian Michaels in the morning. I already logged by food for today. The result – 90kcal over the target value. We are planning a typical Bavarian dinner for my husband’s birthday tonight. Wondering about my weighing result for tomorrow.
01/24 - 61.6 kg (135.8 lbs.). Didn’t expect this after yesterday’s evening meal. 10km run in the morning. Strength training planned for the evening
01/25 - 61.9 kg (136.5 lbs.).↑ Should have been more careful with the nuts. “30 day shred” with Jillian Michaels in the morning.

Day/Weight/Comment
01/23 11st 6.6lb Slow and steady.
01/24 11st 6.6lb No loss but I've done a lot of walking today, so I'm hoping that it will make a difference when I weigh in tomorrow
01/25 11st 5.2lb Very happy with this. Depending on how I feel after the dentist today, I might do some more walking - I tripled the goal on my Garmin yesterday, but it was quite low because I'd not been out the day before.
