MariMcKeon - I do seated workouts I find on YouTube. I have hip/knee and balance problems, and can't get up and down from the floor (and horribly afraid of falling)... these seated workouts have changed my life! just search "seated exercise" or "seated workouts". There are all kinds. Some are very simple and others are very advanced. Good luck!3

Another busy week! Tuesday we had 70 third graders here at the park. I worked with the park educational specialist and had the kids catch invertebrates from our lake to see pollution levels. They found some strange looking creatures! But the lake has a healthy biome and is clean.
Tuesday night we had a tornado (very rare in New Mexico) touch down and cause damage about 10 miles from the campground in the evening. Wndy but no damage here. The kids' teacher left a box of trash from their lunch under a picnic table. You can image what racoons and wind did to that!
Today we have sustained winds of 30-45 MPH with gusts up to 75 MPH. RV is rocking and a rolling today!
Ordered script for natural hormone creams per doc and will see how that works
Now going to have lunch then read for a while. I'm reading 'The Plant Paradox' by Steven R. Gunsry,MD at my docs request. Very interesting read!

Happy Donald Duck Day!
"There is some debate as to when Donald Duck's birthday is, and when Donald Duck Day should be celebrated. This has made Donald Duck one lucky duck, as there are two days that celebrate him each year. Donald Duck’s first appearance on screen was in the animated short film “The Wise Little Hen," on June 9, 1934, and Disney later made this his official birthday. A Donald Duck Day is celebrated on the anniversary of that date each year. In a 1941 biography of Donald Duck, Walt Disney's The Life of Donald Duck, it says that Donald was born on a Friday the 13th. The 1949 short film 'Donald's Happy Birthday' celebrates his birthday on March 13. The license plate of his car is the number 313, likely a reference to his birthday. ... Donald’s full name is Donald Fauntleroy Duck, and he is known for his sometimes temperamental personality. He is many times associated with his nephews Huey, Louie, and Dewey, and his girlfriend Daisy."
Margaret - Wow, you are really getting your workouts in with all the shoveling!
Karen - I love seeing more wind power projects come online. I do wish someone would come up with a turbine design that was safer for birds and bats, though.
Heather - Habitat for Humanity runs resale stores in the U.S. where you can often buy used kitchen cabinets at a huge discount (along with all kinds of other home improvement stuff). I love browing their stores!
Machka - So glad your husband's driving assessment went well! I can only imagine what a relief it will be for both of you, knowing he can get around independently.
Viv - I swear, Forrest holds it in so he can go potty in his crate. He peed on the floor yesterday after being on a long walk followed by a half hour outside in the back yard. I think the lack of good management at the kennel he came from taught him that the crate is the best, safest place to go. It's going to take some work to teach him better, especially since I can't get him to go on lead or when he's supervised in the back yard.
Janet - Great news about your dad! I bet he'll continue to do better now that he's home.
Shannon - Oh, those two lucky cats! I can't imagine what they're like after being in a shelter that long! Poor babies... I'm glad they have you now.
I'm dreading the call from my accountant this year. I always do because self employment tax is hell, but even more so this year when I'll find out how much money came out of my pocket to pay give tax breaks to people who already have more money than God. On top of that I've got no idea yet what impact my share of Dad's estate will have. Am just praying the final distribution from Dad's estate account will cover what I owe! In the meantime, I guess fretting about it isn't going to do any good. After this year I think I may change accountants and look for someone local. We've been with the same one for years, but she has not been very responsive lately. I still haven't been able to pry out an answer as to when Dad's estate return is due and it's stressing me out. I need to have confidence she's on top of it and right now I don't.
Tonight's an adventure - I'm going to my first PiYo class. I've had a mental block against going to the gym for months, so I decided to join a group class to get me started. Picked a date to start and put it on the calendar, and today is that day. I have no idea what to expect as far as whether or not I'll be able to keep up. Now I need to have an afternoon snack and an extra glass of water to make sure I'll be ready when I get there.
Rain this morning turned into a beautiful, warm day. Think I missed my window for any "winter" yard work!

Margaret: I think of your work opening street drains as exemplary public service. Yes it helps you, but it also helps all of your neighbors. WTG!!!
Karen in VA: Your grandson is absolutely correct that wind turbines kill bats. All of the windmills in our area are east of the Cascade Mountains. We can see them from the I-80 freeway. They are on both sides of the Columbia River. Perhaps your DGS will someday invent a solution to the windmill problem for bats. I’m fairly certain that offshore windmills are not as dangerous to bats because the food they hunt would not be present there. If he finds that out, I’d love to know for sure.
Rebecca: I’m delighted that you have access to the base gym. It can be a very good thing. I try to get to the gym 3 times a week. I don’t always manage, but I get there 3 times in most weeks. I'm healthier and happier when I get regular exercise. :flowerforyou:
Rori: I share your advice to Tracey to split the Costco membership with another family member. We split ours with our DDIL. Our practice is to alternate paying the membership fee every other year.
Rita: 75 mph winds could be very scary in your motor home. Were you parked broadside to the wind, or perpendicular? I suppose shifting winds could be an added “thrill.” I hope you stay safe and have no damage as a result of the windy conditions.
I had a city meeting last night and have another meeting tonight. Tonight’s is for an organization that works on creating places for horse trails on public lands. I’m looking forward to it on the one hand, but regret having meetings two nights in a row on the other hand.

I’m not an expert, this is from the IRS website....
Generally, the estate tax return is due nine months after the date of death. A six month extension is available if requested prior to the due date and the estimated correct amount of tax is paid before the due date.

Hi all,
The scone/biscuit recipe will have to wait until tomorrow. Busy, busy.
I went to the new yoga class and it was ok. A lot of stretching and static poses, but I probably need that. The best thing about it is that it is nearby and at a convenient time.
Then we went out for the nanny's farewell dinner. I gave her a card in which DH had written a little verse for her. She is sooooooooooooo lovely, we will all miss her.
Before and after we had half a pint in a boutique brewery next door to the pizza place. Very nice and civilised.
Then we crossed the road to the French lecture, which was excellent. We actually understood almost every word as she spoke slowly and clearly and showed lots of slides. Definitely made me want to visit Vichy. Wonderful architecture.
So, a very good evening. What we moved down here for really.

Katla, yep the definite upside to this whole move, is our access to base services. I do feel better when I go, I'm just sore today!

My husband has completed both parts of the driver's assessment ... a physical & written test and the driving test. But he does not have his driver's licence back. Next, the assessors need to write a report which, I presume, goes to his specialist and also to the driver's licencing board.
Although it all seemed to go well, he may possibly have some restrictions of some sort.
He's hoping everything will go smoothly and that in 10 days or so, he may indeed have his licence back.
Meanwhile, he's been making good use of the bus ... as I do.

Prayers for the young woman (age 26, physically disabled) who rents a room in my son's temporary house (bedroom next to his). She overdosed on pills this afternoon and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. I had been there this afternoon from 3:00-4:30 and she was avoiding me and wouldn’t talk to me. Instead, she went into her dark bedroom, played blaring music and closed the door. She tends to be depressed and wants her privacy, so I honored that and I’m so sorry I did. I left both her and my son (this is the disabled son) alone at 4:30. Sometime between then and when her personal care aide came on at 5:00 she overdosed. Her aide found her alive, but incoherent. My son also respected the closed door and was reading ... unaware of the young woman's actions. Heartbreaking.17

Beth, heartbreaking indeed! Please don't beat yourself up for respecting the closed door, you can't possibly have known that she meant to harm herself. Hoping for the best outcome....
Machka, I know this is from a while back, but the topiary town that you visited looks pretty darn awesome! Sincerest wishes for hubby's license to be back in his possession! He must feel relieved to have passed both tests, things are definitely going in the right direction for him!
Tracy, keeping you in my thoughts for the job interview on Friday! Hoping that your interviewer will realize that YOU are the person that they need!
Rebecca, oh my,marmalade would definitely be a keeper! Good for you for getting to the base gym, unfortunate when people hog the machines....
Heather, sounds like a lovely time was had by all! This definitely seems to have been the right move for you, I know the financial part has been tough, but your joy with the new location just comes thru every time you post!
Rita, how rude of the teacher to leave a box of garbage under a picnic table! Maybe we should be generous and say she forgot, but still.... Raccoons, wind and garbage, oh joy......
Went to a core strength class yesterday, had been going quite steadily, but then the regular teacher was away for a few weeks, iduring that time the snow came so I didn't go, then I got sick with the flu, so of course didn't go. Well, regular teacher was back yesterday.... she kicks butt! I'm surprised I'm not hurting as much as I thought I would, a few spots are wondering WTH happened, but.... It's a good hurt, right?? lol And the scale is being kind, I am paying attention, still not logging, but that will come eventually. Sure is making a difference knowing what I'm going to make for dinner a few days in advance tho! Need to keep up with the planning!
Speaking of dinner, I must go and put the rest of tonights in the oven, having baked potatoes with teriyaki chicken breasts, not sure of the veg yet, but that's the easy part!
Hope everyone has a great day!
Evelyn, Vancouver Island, where the sun is shining and it was 10C today! I believe that's close to 50F! Positively balmy! (or at least it would be if the wind took a hike....)6 -

Machka, I'm thinking good thoughts for your husband getting his drivers license back. Passing the tests is a great accomplishment.

Hi Gals,
Lisa you are doing great!!! I’m impressed
Welcome newbies – Jillery,
Wind turbines - I live not far from the Livermore wind turbines, they are interesting, when you hike near them they make a very distinctive noise, and while I have not heard of bat deaths, we do have problems with raptors being killed… I know they have done assorted things to mitigate the problem.
Yvonne – I changed accountants a few years back, I asked other small business owners who they used and picked one of the referrals. It has been so much better! He has saved me a mint, but has warned me that as a small business with no employees the tax changes will not help me – I’ll turn my stuff in in about a week, and see how much it hurts.
Katla – I wanted to spilt a Costco membership with my mom and she said we had to live in the same house…
Tracy – sending good thoughts!
Machka – Congrats to DH for getting this far; one more hurdle!
