End of the work day on Friday 22 March.
Busy day. Work and my first assignment from my current uni course submitted.
One year ago, our lives changed forever.
Last weekend was another game changer.
This weekend, I'm planning to create a Seizure Management Plan for my husband who has a severe brain injury, and now seizures, from a fall on March 22, 2018.
But this might be why I've felt like bursting into tears all week this week.
Meanwhile ... I know these are 31 Strategies for Living with Traumatic Brain Injury, but there are several good strategies for anyone dealing with family members with health/medical issues.
https://www.brainline.org/article/31-strategies-living-traumatic-brain-injury
23. Create an Emergency Binder ... I need to do this! I've got the info, but it is kind of scattered and much of it is in my head.

Sharon welcome to onederland............WTG WOOOHOOOO!
Happy Friday everyone, despite being in the thick of "high" season for work, I made a plan to go out to dinner with DH last night, just needed to take a hard stop on just being in work mode and spend a little time being "romantic" We had a light dinner out and it was such a nice change of pace from the usual work week mayhem. Proud of myself for setting aside work obsessions and focus on "US" DH continues to eat healthier than ever and has maintained his new lower weight, yeah him!
But now back to the grind, working a 14 hour day today then a full day Saturday. It's all worthwhile, but aches and pains (escpecially my left elbow) make me think, how long do I keep at this? Short answer: For as long as I have to to make this work for my family.

I am up watched Joyce and had my tea.. I didn't sleep well at all last night fell asleep i think before 7 and was awake at 10, tossed and turned and finally fell back asleep.. ugh
I hope and pray that Michael doesn't try and pull a fast one call out sick tomorrow, as I have to be here for the electrician... but I wouldn't put it past him either..
going to go hop in the shower and get ready and go walk my boys and feed DFIL.. then come home take Alfie for a walk and then go to work..
I think while the electrician is here, I will weed through my closet and start putting some of my winter stuff away, getting out last years summer stuff and take it to the consignment shop as I have alot of 2-3x capri's and pants that will be to big .
any money that I get on little things I put into savings..2 -
Machka - Great article! I still have to get round to Lasting Power of Attorney, mainly because DH is very resistant, but I think , if I put it in front of him, he might sign on. My near miss with the traffic the other day might make him realise how quickly everything can change.
Sharon - Hooray! I bet you are deeeeelighted! !!
Very noisy here today. There are about four houses nearby that are having stuff done to them now that spring is here. New roofs, extensions etc. The one almost directly behind us is having a new extension by the look of it. Today they are knocking down the old extension with a drill. Ugh! It is really loud in the bedroom where I write in the mornings.
I am not looking forward to the time when the houses either side of us get renovated. They both need it, so when the owners move it will be all systems go. We are detached, but the noise is likely to be horrible.
Cleaning day today with my DH. Let's hope it goes as well as last week. My new potential cleaner is coming to interview my house tomorrow.
I've got to think about what food to buy in for my old yoga friend on Monday. She is coming on the train. She is a very conservative eater. No spicy food garlic etc. I think I will poach a chicken in the IP and have it cold with salad stuff so she can make her own sandwiches. Put in what she likes. It's only lunch. She does like sorbet, so I might make my lovely raspberry one if I can get the frozen raspberries.

Ah! The energy of a Virgo Moon! Joe made a pile of stuff from the garage for donating to the humane society, and another bigger pile of "trash". 80% of the trash pile was recyclables so got rid of that after T'ai Chi. Donated the stuff on second trip into town for first meeting of the day. All part of clearing garage and kitchen for stove delivery and propane installers.
Pat in OH, thanks for the link to fiber information, a lot to absorb ;}

Tracey Eeeee! for the callback. Javex? You drank Bleach???

Suebdew comet changed red hair to green? Yikes!
Evelyn I'm unfamiliar with the word strata in this context, could you enlighten me? ". We live in a strata and there are a couple of flowerbeds along the driveway into the main part of the complex. "
Viv, likewise I'm unfamiliar with the word "carvery"?
Carol ((hugs)) for you and your DH and his brother.
Vickie so glad your DGS wasn't hurt!
Heather hearing about your adventures reminds me how much I loved Brighton when I visited there in the 70's. Thanks!
Welcome Almagreatness, does your 6 year old granddaughter have another grandmother who is her "old grandma"?
Welcome Jenn!
Stove guy asked me if the electric stove worked. "Perfectly, I just can't adjust to cooking on electric. I burn things, shriek and cry." When he guy pulled it out...
the insulation over the power wires cracked and crumbled in his hands. "This is not right!" he cried. "And the connections are loose. Could have started a fire." Had I not insisted on a propane stove, we could have been burned to death. We never thought of the hazards of electricity when debating the dangers of propane. Who'd've thunk it?

Sharon, congratulations.
Evie, your yard improvements look great. Too bad that your bulbs are so sad right now. I have been very grateful for this surprise bit of spring we've had in the PNW and recognize that the much needed rain will end my blissful days of puttering in the garden.

Pat ~ Regarding fiber...I discovered Nature's Own Life High Fiber bread. Each slice has only 50 calories and 4 grams of fiber.
Tracey ~ Good luck today on you interview. I only have the vaguest of basic knowledge of Excel. I loved doing Power Points when I was teaching but that was 10 yrs ago.
NY Karen ~ Glad you had your date night and sorry your work load is so tough right now.
Evie ~ The landscape ties look great and so do your plants. I am sure they will wake up.
They couldn't do the test for the possible blood clot on my BnL yesterday so will try again today. He was lucid enough yesterday to explain to my husband where he could access his papers/computer. So, at least my husband will be able to pay any bills that may be due...they are all on the computer.
I am being very consistent in doing my knee exercises so hoping I will do very well after the knee replacement.

Machka - I so agree, I couldn’t believe how much of it I had forgotten including Pivot Tables that I used to use daily. I realized though that it’s been a good 10 years since I’ve used it more than just a place to make forms and do simple equations. I’ll fake it ‘til I make it if I have to. If you don’t use it you for sure lose it.
Hugs - this must be a hard day with a lot of emotions.
Sue - I can never do my hair like my hairdresser it drives me crazy.
Evelyn - your beds are going to look lovely. It’s crazy to think how it feels like spring already and it’s still only March. I fear we will have a big snowfall in April yet.
Sharon - CONGRATULATIONS on hitting Onederland!!!!
Barbara - I need to read up on this Virgo moon, you are the second person I’ve heard mention it this week. Yes, apparently I only managed to get a little bit in me before my Mom caught me. She took me to the hospital and I turned out fine. When I misbehaved as a teen, my Dad used to say, “that bleach must have messed with your brain”. He was always joking, but I think they always felt bad I had been able to do it. The funny part is, Mom still stores her cleaning supplies under the sink even after I had done that. I think I was around 2 when it happened.
NYKaren - good for taking a break and enjoying some couple time. What we don’t do for our families.
Allie - I would leave my phone on silent tomorrow. You don’t have to refuse if you’re not able to be asked. You deserve to have your Saturday without feeling guilty about it. As the office manager he should know it’s his responsibility to cover if others aren’t available.
Heather - that is the downfall to spring and summer, all of the construction noise. Hope it doesn’t last all summer for you.
Carol - happy to hear your BNL was able to tell your husband some things, maybe this will scare him enough to make a POA and such. I took quite a few computer courses years ago and used all of the Office Suite. I had learned all the DOS bases programs first. I just haven’t had to use much except for company proprietary programs for the last decade. I didn’t realize how much I had forgotten. I am going to continue to practice, so I’m not caught off guard if I don’t get this job.
I have read the job description a couple of times and am going to read it once more before going in for the meeting. I have looked up the acronyms that were in it, so I know what they mean. I am trying to stay calm, if it’s meant for me I will get it, if not I won’t. At least I will know I tried my best.

Barbara, we live in a townhouse complex, there are 10 of us. It's classed as a strata because there are common areas, roofs and outer walls included. We pay monthly strata fees that, theoretically, will pay for roofs and outer walls when/should they fail. There are a few more rules than when you own a stand alone house, but there are advantages too. Like when the roof needs re-doing, you shouldn't need to come up with the $$$ to do it!

Ok got to work and found out that Michael is going anyway and Dr Pandey wanted me to come..ugh.... but told him I could not and that he had told me I was done with weekends,so he told me to write it down..well I sent off a quick note stating that we had agreed last week that I would be working certain hours and no Saterdays and it was in writing...
Dr Pandey will be holding the fort down..But I hate saying anything bad about anyone. But Michael is a snake in the grass...5 -
Allie So Michael is going away for the weekend without regard to the needs of the practice. Dr. Pandey asked you to come in despite having told you you did not have to work any more weekends. That is not right. I hope you find a new job.

Allie I would think since he just started in on probation. It is up to your boss to decide what to do about him. From what you said he does not sound like a good fit. I agree I would not trust Micheal. If he gets the patients to spend the extra money your boss wants he may forgive him. He is sure to take credit for positive changes in the bottom line and from what you said he will be quick to lay blame on someone other than himself if the bottom line is struggling.
Stay in good contact with your boss with letting him know the positive things you are doing to keep the office running smoothly. I would be careful about what you say about Micheal. Let him sabotage himself without your help. When you interview for you next job you can promote yourself by telling your next employer all the things you do to keep an office running smoothly. You may be asked how do you handle a difficult patient or colleague. Practice on Micheal how you can productively handle such a person. You will ace your next interview.
If it were me I would work tomorrow because it makes you look like you have the office best interest at heart and Micheal does not! The other advantage is you know he will not be there and you can ask for a different day off and another day without Micheal. WIN! WIN!
I agree it is best to keep looking. Do what you need to do to keep your current job until you find the right fit.

Karen- yup that's about the size of it.
Sad isn't it..keep me all in your prayers I need something different0 -
Allie and Tracey-I interviewed for a new job too! I was the first interview and they will be interviewing "into next week" Ugh-patience is not a virtue. It would be an internal move at the university where I work. I have found (and have had confirmed by many) that university HR is the worst-slow and soooo bureaucratic. I know they want to fill the position quickly, so maybe I'll know something soon. If I don't get it I'll be disappointed, but I have an OK job now, so no biggy.
Allie-the right job will come along. It really does sound like you need to get out of where you are! I've worked for some "MIchaels" in the past and it is so stressful!
Tracey-good luck on the second meeting! Funny you should mention Excel. I use Excel all the time, but only the basics. We have free access to Lynda.com (an online training site) too through my university, so I'm in the middle of taking an Excel course that I really like so far. I.E. I can understand what the guy is talking about! So many times those kinds of courses go way too fast!
Speaking of dog's butts...my little guy has Giardia for the 3rd time!! It's a parasite that can take 3-4 rounds of antibiotics to eradicate. I will not describe the symptoms
I just got caught up on your posts...after a week they really accumulate! But I just can't skip anything-I have to read it all! OCD much?
Glad it is sunny and beautiful in Georgia!!!

Margaret ~ Good advice to Allie!
Bought a new mattress pad and sheets for our Queen bed today. I don't know what the problem is but I think the sheets would almost fit a King sized bed. Difficult to put on.

Our Paul is named for the movie “Paul” where two English men were tracing along the Alien Highway and take him along for the ride. We traced most of the same route from this hilarious movie that came out around 2009. The English found Paul near Area 51 which we too drove by.

I went for the second meeting today, it seemed to go really well. I met the two owners and office manager. The fit was nice, I felt. I was in there for an hour and ten minutes. I figure they would have brought it to an end sooner if they weren’t interested. I asked about when they would be making a decision and they told me they weren’t in a hurry, which was a little discouraging, but I guess I will know when I know.
Still haven’t received the Excel tests but was able to discuss today that I may be a little rusty from lack of use, but would catch remember again as I used it a couple of times. They were quite happy with that and agreed when you don’t use it you lose it.
The office manager and I seemed to have the same crafting interest and one owner has children my girls age and the other has children my grandchildren’s ages.
I don’t think they would have shared as much with me if they weren’t interested.

Fingers crossed Tracey!

Eaten well into my maintenance calories today. But not over. I seem to be doing that a lot recently. I will weigh myself tomorrow to see what the damage is. I should have maintained, but I find I have to go a bit under these days to stay the same.
My bonus calories today were cleaning the house with my DH. I spent a lot of time micro-cleaning the kitchen, hob rings etc, so got a bit behind. I even washed the dining chairs. Done most of the important stuff and I can do my bathroom tomorrow. The potential cleaner is coming to inspect the house at 5 pm tomorrow. DH and I have made an agreement to tidy up and sweep the front yard tomorrow for my yoga friend's first visit. Bit of weeding also required round the walls and manholes. I washed down the paintwork today. I love a clean and tidy house. If someone else can do it for me, then that is even better. I hope the cleaner can take us on.

Heather: I think your 975 calories burn is amazing. It should go a long way toward making up for any goodies that came from the fridge. I hope your son will keep going with swimming and cycling. Both are excellent ways to improve health.
Margaret: I’m sorry that flooding is still going on near you. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you have a steady improvement in conditions in your area. :flowerforyou:
Trucker: CONGRATULATIONS ON REACHING ONEDERLAND!!!!!
(((Machka))) I admire your courage and persistence.
Tracey: Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Yesterday was our 49th wedding anniversary. We had a delicious dinner at home and made plans for our 50th next year. We want to visit the site where we were married and are hoping our kids can be there with us. Keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll be in good health and I hope that it will come true.
